If you're looking for an incredible breakfast or brunch spot, The Sassy Biscuit absolutely deserves a visit. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming. One of my favorite details was the light-up "Sassy" sign, which added a lot of personality to the space. You do order at the counter instead of having traditional table service, so keep that in mind before you go. There was a separate dining area with nicer seating, while the main side felt a little plain, but overall it was still a comfortable place to eat. The food completely stole the show. The biscuits were hands down the best biscuits I've ever had. They were soft, buttery, and packed with flavor. I went with a group of friends, so we were able to try several different dishes, and honestly, everything was delicious. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, the Louisiana shrimp and grits were full of flavor, and the strawberry compote biscuits were absolutely amazing. Every plate that came to the table looked and tasted incredible. I also ordered a latte. It was cute and photographed well, but taste-wise, it was just okay. It wasn't the best latte I've ever had, but it certainly wasn't bad either. The staff was friendly, the service was efficient, and the food alone is enough to keep me coming back. The food here is phenomenal. The waffle with blueberry topping was easily on par with--if not better than--the famous waffle at The Jefferson Hotel brunch. The home fries were diced, seasoned, and cooked to perfection, and the homemade sage sausage was exceptionally savory. My wife thoroughly enjoyed "The Benny," and even the coffee was brewed to perfection. The service team was equally great. However, the layout and ordering process are terrible for weekend crowds. Having to wait in an hour-long line just to order is a major drawback. While our food came out in a reasonable amount of time after ordering, the party next to us mentioned waiting an hour for theirs. From an operational standpoint, the current setup hinders sales. Having patrons stand in a massive line to order prevents them from sitting at the bar or buying additional drinks--costing the restaurant high-margin sales. This place easily has 5-star food and service, but the weekend logistics hold it back. We'll definitely return on a weekday to try more of the menu. read more

I wanted this to be my favorite spot, but there are a lot of kinks to work out. I tried this place for Saturday brunch after seeing it on Instagram. It's centrally located in Manchester in a really walkable area, although street parking can be tough. When I walked in, I noticed it was bright and clean. I was immediately greeted and told to grab a menu while I waited in line. There were no less than nine people working, and I took that as a good sign. I was overly optimistic. There was a couple who left because the line was taking too long. I waited about 15 minutes, with roughly five people ahead of me. I ordered a cardamom vanilla latte and the Kitchen Sink Bowl, sans sausage and with vegan gravy. Table seating is first come, first served, and because it was busy, tables were being cleared pretty slowly. I found a seat, opened my book and settled in to wait. It was 11:47. At 12:57, my food finally came. Well... partially. My fried egg was missing. It was taken back and brought out about 10 minutes later, along with an egg. The latte was thick with cardamom and really nice. I liked it a lot. And the vegan gravy? The best vegan gravy I have ever had. The drop biscuit was perfect for sopping up the gravy. And then I took a bite. Home fries. Gravy. Mushrooms. Peppers. Onions. And sausage. As someone who ordered a vegetarian meal and hasn't eaten sausage in 30 years, to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I removed as much of the sausage as I could, since it was in fairly large pieces, and took the risk of eating what was left. I immediately regretted it. My gallbladder said, "Absolutely not." There are many kinks to work out. Many, many, many kinks. But here's the thing: I actually want to like this place. I can see the potential, and there were things I genuinely loved, especially that cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. The latte was good too. So I'll give them another try. The concept behind Sassy Biscuit Co. is great, and I think it has a lot of potential. However, the staff is clearly still working out their service flow. I recommend the owner consult with some of the established breakfast biscuit restaurants in the greater Richmond area to learn more about efficient operations and customer flow. I also think traditional table service would work much better than the current line-ordering system. I ordered a white chocolate raspberry latte with oat milk, but they had already run out of raspberry syrup by 11 a.m. They were also out of the strawberry syrup featured in the latte of the month. The latte was just okay. Our first meal arrived after about 30 minutes. The collard greens were extremely salty, while the O'Brien-style potatoes were well seasoned but a little oily. I appreciated the gluten-free options, but the gluten-free biscuits are made to order, resulting in a much longer wait. After waiting over an hour for my meal, I found out my gluten-free biscuit had been given to another customer, so I never received my food. The staff offered to remake it, provide another dish, or issue a gift card, but after waiting so long, I opted for a refund instead. I hope they can improve their operations because the concept is unique, but the long wait times, inventory shortages, and order mix-up made for a disappointing first visit. read more

The place was busy and we were in line for a while but I expected this. It's a Saturday in the beautiful City of Richmond in a vibrant neighborhood in a restaurant known for serving good food. The staff were some of the friendliest people in the restaurant business that I have encountered as of late and very accommodating with food options. I absolutely loved the "Louisiana Purchase" aka shrimp and grits. The gravy was not spicy--I am so tired of everything having to be spicy. The gravy was flavorful and contained black eye peas. YUM! I ate the entire bowl, biscuit and all. I had a really tasty latte too. I also found the chairs we sat in so cozy I didn't want to get up! Let me start by saying the food, when we finally got it was really good. But the time it took to get it wasn't worth the wait. There were probably 10 people in line to order in front of us on a Saturday morning and it took 30 mins just to get to the order person. Then we waited another 30 mins to get our drinks and yet another 30 mins to get our food. They need to work this out because repeat customers will be non existent if they don't figure out how to streamline. I know we probably won't be back any time soon. Such a shame! read more

I plan to return. The chicken breast biscuit sandwich was moist and very tasty. I liked how the hash browns were seasoned. Friendly staff greet you as you enter, unlike some restaurants that only acknowledge you later, leaving you to wonder if they actually saw you. On or about the weekend of 7/23-25, 2026 we went to the Sassy Buiscuit on Hull Street in Richmond,Va to purchase breakfast to go.We ENCOUNTERED a 1&1/2 hour wait to get our food,40 minutes to get a cup of coffee while we waited ,a huge argument ...almost a fight ...in the kitchen...and just plain horrible food! The biscuits were just slightly larger than golf balls and so hard you could not eat them.They came with no more than two tablespoons of gravey.The home fries consisted of one small icecream-size scoop of mush that were so bad I could not even tell if they were potatoes!!!The food,the huge kitchen argument,yelling,etc were just shameful and disgraceful! This restaurant should be shutdown forever..it was as bad as it gets!!!The food was absolutely rotten and just sickening!!!!!! read more
