The atmosphere: It's a small restaurant best suited for small groups, though there are a few tables that can accommodate larger parties. You order at the cashier and they bring the food to your table. There's also a self-serve drink station, and they provide free water cups that you can refill. The food: We started with the takoyaki and chicken karaage. The takoyaki was good, but fairly standard. The chicken karaage portion was generous, and the pieces were large. The coating was lighter than what I'm used to, which kept the chicken juicy, but it did make it a bit oily. I also wished there was more seasoning in the chicken or batter since I ended up relying on the spicy mayo sauce quite a bit. For my entree, I ordered the pork katsu with rice and tonkotsu sauce. It was fine, but nothing particularly memorable. I also would've preferred a slaw instead of just a few pieces of lettuce. Portions overall were big, and the dishes are definitely shareable. The service: Service was touch-and-go, very much a fast-casual setup.

Place isn't fancy but the food is great and the prices aren't too far of a stretch. It's clean and comfortable. We always order the Yum Woon Sen, Pad Thai with extra sauce, Tom Yum Gai Noodle Soup, and Papaya salad. Sometimes we'll switch it up and order fried tofu, crispy pork and rice, pad see ew, pad ke mao, or the sausage and rice. Nothing we've had has been a disappointment. This place definitely hits the target of a well balanced salty, sour, and sweet. They can also hit the spicy notes if you can tolerate it!

We decided on eating family style and ordered appetizers to start off with to share. While the crab rangoon and crispy spring rolls were both hot and fresh, the edamame wasn't. Sadly, we had to send it back. So, our server gladly took it off our bill. The Chicken Pad Thai had an unexpected sweet flavor and it wasn't what we would have preferred, especially in comparison to other Thai cuisine that we've often enjoyed in the past. But, we liked the shrimp fried rice that was very flavorful. We're glad to have stopped in to Lanna Thai. They had several pick up orders while we were dining. There were a couple other tables that seemed to be locals. Would welcome seeing more Yelp reviews on this restaurant to get suggestions on favorite dishes that I should try next time.

The place is clean, and there's plenty of parking. The beef curry is rich with spicy flavors that are balanced and not overwhelming. The orange chicken features large, juicy pieces with a wonderfully citrusy taste. The pad thai was the highlight of the evening, offering a delicious and complex flavor profile with a clean finish. One suggestion: I should have asked for a higher spice level, at least level 2. The service was very friendly and welcoming. This place is a real gem near the College of William & Mary and will become our go-to Thai spot whenever we visit. It's simply the best!

All the noodle and rice entrees come out a very big size, honestly enough to share an entree between two people because the 4 of us had leftovers. I had the red curry special pad thai which I recommend trying as opposed to the regular pad thai. One-two of our dishes was actually messed up on protein- chicken instead of beef and the combination fried rice had only 1 shrimp. They give a lot of meat (chicken) for less premium meat options but for seafood options like shrimp you don't get that many. Other than that I would recommend this spot for thai cuisine.

The menu also has so many food options, making it easy to find something for everyone. The food overall was great and very enjoyable. However, I would not recommend the brownie and chocolate sundae dessert. The brownie and cookie were cold and hard, which made the dessert disappointing. On the positive side, the carrot cake was huge and definitely worth sharing -- easily enough for 3-4 people. The service was excellent as well. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the meal and made sure everything was taken care of. Overall, Second Street American delivers great food variety, strong service, and a family-friendly atmosphere, with just a few misses on dessert.

We have not not dined, or even spent much time at CW since the pandemic. After a hike behind Bassett Hall my wife and I enjoyed lunch. We arrived at noon and were promptly seated in an empty room. Around 20 minutes later the first floor was full. The atmosphere was cool and authentic. Nothing has changed since my previous visit. Our friendly waitress got menus and waters. I started off with an Apple Jack Old Fashioned utilizing Virginia Gentleman bourbon. We reviewed items on the menu that may have been served in the period. We started with apps. I got a salad, or "To Make a Fine Sallet". My wife crab croquettes. They pushed out first and we enjoyed. For mains. I got the pork shank, or "To Stew a Shoat in the French Way". My wife had "Chicken Hash", it was like a thick soup. The plating was beautiful and the taste matched. The old fashioned was disappointing because it was so weak. Service was decent, but not much attention. For dessert I got the bread pudding and wife chocolate tart. Both were outstanding! The bill was dropped on the table. It was around $150 w/ tip. Although pricey we had fun and felt like tourist just an hour from home. I would recommend.

We opted for the dessert and soup add-on. I ordered the peanut soup which was very creamy and rich. I enjoyed it very much. For a main, I ordered the pork shank which was very dense meat on a large bone served on top of what appeared to be polenta with pomegranate seeds. This was a very filling dish and I could not finish it. It didn't have a lot of flavor. I finished off with a pecan pie, which was delicious. During dinner, we were briefly serenaded by a performer, dressed in period garb. Although I wasn't rushed, it seemed that it was a very brief dinner with the food coming out very quickly. The tavern was what I expected to be with candlelight and decorations from an earlier century. There was just something missing with the vibe. My husband ordered the onion pie and the bread pudding.
