Not simple, not well made, not well cooked, not even the right cut. I ordered the Delmonico- I suppose the cut could be argued, so I won't even count that in leading to my disappointment. What came to my table resembled more of a Hungry Man Dinner Salisbury Steak, and it had hunks of raw fat in it, and it was covered in this awful brown, salty, peppercorn sludge-excuse me while i go vomit. My husband ordered the lamb chops-bad move. They tasted like they sat in their own blood for days-gamey, raw in the middle (again), and tough like shoe leather. Raw, and tough....? Weird, but true. Now, my husband and I both like our steak/lamb cooked medium rare to rare, but this really was raw. I've had the pleasure of dining at The Ruxton in Baltimore twice - once on their opening night and again a few weeks later. It's not often I rate a place a perfect score, but The Ruxton truly deserves it. Staff and Service: The highlight of The Ruxton is undeniably its staff. Both of my visits featured different wait staff, each one leaving a lasting impression with their exceptional service. While I regret not recalling the name of our first waitress, Wendy, who served us during our second visit, was just as remarkable. The staff's professionalism and attentiveness add a layer of perfection to the dining experience. Ambiance: The decor and ambiance of The Ruxton are top-notch, fostering a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere. The clientele is as diverse as the staff, with almost everyone dressed to impress. It's a place where the ambiance matches the quality of the dining experience, making every visit memorable. Food and Drinks: The drink menu at The Ruxton is on par with the best speakeasy/cocktail bars, featuring a variety of beautifully crafted drinks. We tried the Red Daisy, Cheeky Devil, Golden Goose, and Mont Blanc - each drink was a hit, with the Red Daisy stealing the spotlight for me. Our appetizer, the Crudo Tasting, was flawless. As for the main dishes, across two dinners, we enjoyed the Rib Cap (twice), the 12oz Gold Label SRF ribeye, and the Chilean Sea Bass, accompanied by Truffled Hasselback Potatoes, Roasted Broccoli, and Roasted Mushrooms. The Rib Cap was a standout, unparalleled in taste and preparation, and unlike anything else available in the area. The sear on the steaks was perfect, the crust made it look as though the steak was deep fried in peppercorns (although, it obviously wasn't). While the SRF ribeye was expertly prepared, it's worth noting it's trimmed differently from traditional ribeyes, resembling more of a filet mignon. Dessert: The butter cake was an experience in itself. OMFG, it is without question the best dessert my wife and I have had at a restaurant in the area, PERIOD. Our second visit was primarily motivated by our craving for this dessert and the drinks, but we couldn't resist ordering the rib cap again. The butter cake is so exceptional that we found ourselves visiting The Ruxton shortly after trying a different restaurant's version of the cake, which only made us crave The Ruxton's even more. Critiques: In the spirit of fairness, I have a couple of minor critiques. On opening night, we were seated in the back room, where the attentive service occasionally felt too watchful, maybe because of the managers' presence. Also, there was a moment of confusion with the SRF ribeye's presentation, which the manager addressed but could have explained more thoroughly. Final Thoughts: The Ruxton has quickly become a staple for my wife and me, promising to be a go-to for exceptional dining experiences. Despite the minor critiques, the overall excellence of The Ruxton from the staff to the food and ambiance makes it a perfect dining destination. read more

We arrived on a Friday evening at 6:45 pm and unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected. Our main courses didn't arrive until after 8 pm, which was disappointing. The waiter assigned to us was in training, with a trainer assisting, but the service still fell short. The waiter was missing in action for most of the night, and I had to ask other staff to locate him--twice. To make matters worse, the trainer asked if the trainee had inquired about allergies, which he hadn't. This was concerning, as attention to such details is crucial. We've dined here before, and our previous visit was fantastic, with quick service and a phenomenal waitress. Unfortunately, last night was a definite letdown. One of the items I ordered never showed. The extra napkin requests never appeared until I had to flag someone down. There were a number of issues. Additionally, the noise level was insane The only saving grace was the quality of the food, which was excellent--hence the 3-star rating. For a $350 bill, we expected much better service. To make things worse, I informed the restaurant about our anniversary when making the reservation. Most establishments would acknowledge this with a small complimentary dessert or celebratory toast. Instead, we only received a Ruxton card, which felt impersonal and underwhelming. It was extremely busy and loud, and the waitstaff seemed overwhelmed. A suggestion: assigning waiters to specific sections per row instead of having them scattered all over the place could help improve the efficiency and quality of service. I hope this feedback helps the restaurant address these issues because the potential for a great experience is clearly there. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Ruxton, and I must say, it was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted by a warm and elegant ambiance that set the tone for a truly upscale dining experience. The decor is tasteful and sophisticated, creating an inviting yet luxurious atmosphere perfect for a special night out. The real star of the evening, aside from the delectable food, was our server, Nicki. Her service was impeccable from start to finish. Attentive without being overbearing, she anticipated our needs with perfect timing and made wonderful recommendations from the menu. Nicki's friendly and professional demeanor added a personal touch that elevated our entire experience. Her knowledge of the dishes and pairings was impressive, making us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. Speaking of food, it was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a work of art, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. The chef's attention to detail was evident in every bite. From the appetizers to the main courses, everything was cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh, and the combinations were inventive, offering a culinary journey we won't soon forget. The Ruxton exceeded every expectation. With its exquisite food, elegant ambiance, and top-notch service--especially thanks to Nicki--this restaurant truly stands out as a premier dining destination. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to indulge in a memorable meal with exceptional service. Five stars all the way! read more

An Unforgettable Anniversary Dinner My boyfriend and I celebrated our second anniversary at Ruxton, and it was truly one of the best anniversary dinners we've ever had. From the moment we walked in, the experience was exceptional. JR at the front was phenomenal. somehow he knew it was our anniversary and set us up with a beautiful table decorated with rose petals and a handwritten happy anniversary card. It was such a sweet, thoughtful touch that made the night feel extra special right from the start. He then paired us with Rubi as our server, and she made the whole evening even better. She was attentive, warm, and genuinely kind, which elevated the entire dinner. Food-wise, we couldn't have asked for better. We started with the Rockefeller oysters which were a 10/10, as always, and something I'd recommend to anyone. For our mains, we got the cowboy ribeye, which was phenomenal, and at Rubi's recommendation we also tried the lamb chops, which were perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. Our asparagus side came over a rich, flavorful sauce that tied everything together beautifully. We finished with cake and ice cream for dessert, the perfect ending to the meal. Between the incredible food and the outstanding service from JR and Rubi, Ruxton made our anniversary truly memorable. Highly recommend! read more

Ruxton in Baltimore's Harbor East is a true gem! From the moment we arrived, the experience was top-tier. The valet service was seamless, parking us right up front, and our parking was validated after the meal--an added bonus! As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Jerome, the manager, who ensured we were seated promptly. The hospitality here is unmatched! Our server, Deremetius, was phenomenal--attentive, efficient, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Food & Drinks: 10/10 * Drinks: Lemon Drop & Red Blend Wine--both perfectly crafted. * Appetizers: Lobster Bisque (rich and flavorful) & Charbroiled Oysters (absolutely delicious). * Entrées: Gold Label Steak (cooked to perfection) & Surf and Turf with Truffle Butter (next level). * Sides: Lobster Mac & Cheese and Broccoli--both were excellent. * Dessert: Butter Cake & Cappuccino--an indulgent and perfect ending to our meal. The ambiance is stunning, whether you're dining in the main area or at the bar. It's elegant, inviting, and sets the perfect mood for a date night, ladies' night, or a special celebration. If you're looking for a beautiful setting, impeccable service, and an unforgettable dining experience, Ruxton is a must-visit! read more

On June 20, 2025, I had an exceptional dining experience at The Ruxton. From the moment we entered, the ambiance exuded a positive energy, setting the perfect tone for the evening. The service was impeccable--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. If you're seeking movie star service, Demetrius is the server to watch out for; he's in his own league. The food was nothing short of spectacular. We began with the caviar tots, which were delightfully crispy and bursting with rich, flavorful taste. The lemon prawn shrimp was a standout, bursting with fresh, zesty notes that perfectly complemented the tender shrimp, even down to the confit cherry tomatoes. The Nashville chicken sandwich delivered a flavorful punch with just the right amount of heat. It wasn't overpowering, and the Nashville hot wasn't the only flavor in the sandwich, which was a delightful surprise. The drinks were expertly crafted, enhancing the overall dining experience. The combination of great food, vibrant energy, expertly made drinks, and stellar service made our visit truly unforgettable. I highly recommend The Ruxton to anyone seeking a top-tier dining experience. read more

During a recent lunch outing to celebrate a friend's birthday, I was met with exceptional hospitality from the waiter (Demetrius) and the entire staff. Initially, we opted to have some drinks at the bar, where we enjoyed refreshing beverages. Upon arriving at our designated table, we were pleasantly surprised to find a birthday card placed there in honor of the celebrant. The bartender's creations were truly remarkable, with the Mojito standing out as an exceptional choice. The Smoky Old-Fashioned possessed a unique and delectable flavor, while the presentation was equally impressive. The charred oysters were bursting with flavor, especially when paired with the buttery garlic sauce. And let me tell you, the caviar tots are still my absolute favorite! The Nashville Fried Chicken sandwich was an exceptional culinary experience, surpassing any other sandwich I have had in quite some time. read more

The Ruxton in Baltimore has a gorgeous ambiance -- elegant, modern, and perfect for a night out or a special occasion. I've been here a few times and each visit has offered consistently great service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and professional. While the atmosphere is top-tier and the food I've tried has been delicious, the menu itself is pretty limited. If you're looking for a wide variety of dishes or a full dinner experience, you might be underwhelmed. That said, The Ruxton absolutely shines when it comes to desserts and drinks. Their cocktail menu is creative and well-executed, and the desserts are definitely worth coming back for. Overall, I'd recommend The Ruxton as a great spot for after-dinner drinks, date night dessert, or a chic nightcap -- just don't expect an extensive food menu. read more

I had the worst experience at this place on Valentine's Day. My friends and I were having a quiet meal and drinks, and while the restaurant was closed, we were still customers and had every right to be treated with respect until we left. When we asked for glasses for the bottled water we already purchased there, the bartender and server outright denied us, acting incredibly entitled and rude. Instead of offering glasses, they became aggressive, and it only escalated when they engaged, and a shouting match ensued. The staff completely failed to deescalate the situation and made us feel completely unwelcome. I understand the place was closed, but the way they handled it was unprofessional and unnecessary. It's sad that they chose to treat paying customers so poorly. Will not be returning. read more

I don't like mushrooms, but the mushroom sauce with the chala bread, now that was something! Brussels sprouts were not too sweet, but not to tart either. Literally just right And the vibes check all the boxes. The playlist my husband said to shout out, whoever put that on because he had to hold himself down from getting up and dancing!. From the moment we walked in, it felt like family greeting each other. The space is really warm and welcoming, with framed photos lining the walls. The menu is pretty simple, and we ended up sharing most items. We started with the brussel sprouts, the wings and the charred shrimp. The shrimp and brussel sprouts were very good and I heard that the wings were delicious. For mains, we ordered the smoked mushroom bowl, the duck confit, the salmon and the roasted lamb shoulder chop. Everyone really enjoyed what they got and the portions were pretty sizable. For dessert, we got this strawberry custard and it was divine. I will absolutely be back again the next time I'm in Baltimore. Please support this amazing black owned restaurant.

We were so happy that the Baltimore location honored it, and they made our dual birthday and wedding celebration feel so special. From the second we arrived, GM Mark took great care of us. We started with drinks at the bar, where the team was so warm and gave fantastic food suggestions. Mark then surprised us with a lovely, secluded two-top table featuring the iconic high-back chairs brought over from the DC restaurant - a detail I absolutely loved! Our server, Darcel, was phenomenal. He was extremely attentive, personable, and shared some great history about the restaurant while keeping our entire meal perfectly paced. The food was incredible: The Prime Rib Steak: Cooked to an absolute perfect medium-rare. They kindly asked if we'd like it sliced before bringing it out, which we jumped on, and it came out served beautifully. The Sides: We shared the lobster mac and cheese (my husband LOVED!), a half order of the world-famous onion rings, and the steak fries. Everything arrived hot and completely hit the spot. Dessert: We finished with the gala apple pie topped with ice cream, which was out of this world. Thank you to Mark, Darcel, and everyone who made our night so memorable. We'll definitely be back!

Food we tried: - Moules Frites - Hot Honey Old Bay Wings - Lamb Chops - Volcano Charbroiled Oysters The food was great but my favorite part of the visit were the people. We sat at the bar on a Friday night and the service was excellent. Servers were attentive, asked and answered questions about the menu, gave recommendations of things to do in the city. Urban Oyster is a surprising find and must try…read more Because of the name, I made a presumption that it is an oyster bar with an expansive seafood offering. Although it is not that in the traditional sense and more of a raw bar, I like that the seafood offerings are more focused and curated. Everything was cooked to the perfect temperature and texture. The HH specials are a great deal. I sat at the bar and service was really good. Every bite was rich and flavorful. We also had the Ojo De Bife (ribeye), and OMG. The steak was succulent, juicy, and cooked perfectly. Exactly how a ribeye should be. Between the fresh pasta and the steak, I honestly don't know which dish I liked more. This is one of those restaurants where I'm already thinking about what I'm ordering when I come back. HIGHLY recommend.

We enjoyed the brussels sprouts to start which were a new menu item to us. They were perfectly cooked with a nice amount of crunch and a simple yet flavorful marinade. We then opted for the parrillada for two once again. It came out just as expected with a large house salad, heaping pile of hand cut fries, and a delicious selection of meats. My one complaint is some of the meat was a little undercooked for my preference but luckily, it's enough to share for two so my boyfriend got to enjoy those cuts. For $120, the parrillada for two is a generous serving of food. We had leftovers for days! It went perfectly with a South African red wine from the menu. We finished the meal off with their flan which was absolutely delicious (and came with a birthday candle and was taken off the check as a very generous birthday present!). I highly recommend adding La Barrita to your rotation of special occasion spots. The ambiance might be a little more laidback compared to other steakhouses in the area, but the neighborhood feel only makes the place more special IMO.

Was in Baltimore for a concert and we decided to stop by the casino and in turn enjoy this iteration of a Ramsay restaurant. Took a bit to get seated but eventually we got seated and had a lovely server. I got the beef Wellington. Wife got the filet. We also got a sticky toffee for dessert. Service was great and attentive. The only knock is we set this up as an anniversary dinner (15th wedding anniversary). Last time I had an anniversary dinner at a Ramsay restaurant (Ramsays kitchen in Las Vegas at the harrah's hotel two years ago), they offered us the sticky toffee pudding as a celebration. This place didn't offer us anything and just gave us champagne at the end, which neither of us drank as we aren't drinkers. Not saying we HAVE to be comped something for a special occasion but the inconsistency between the restaurants is disappointing.

For dinner, my husband and I started with cocktails - the chai team Old Fashioned for my husband, and the Scott's Donkey (swapped from gin to vodka) which had Fresno chilies and cucumber for me. Food was a mixed bag. The new sourdough rolls are not as good as the old bread, and my salmon was a little dry, but my husband's New York Strip with peppercorn sauce was good. Thankfully, the max and cheese and cinnamon-glazed carrots haven't changed. The dessert menus was also reduced, but they still have the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Parking tip: After parking in the garage, take the elevator to the ground floor, then you can walk straight across to the restaurant without having to navigate through the casino. Don't forget to get your parking validated at the restaurant.
