I went here with my family after the Rockets game tonight. It was a Monday night and there were plenty of seats! The atmosphere was amazing including the outdoor seating area with cornhole, a large bar, and eccentric rustic decor. The prices are fair for the area. We ordered drinks and desserts and the desserts are HUGE! It's a very good deal for $7.95 for a huge cake (definitely want to share!) Great location. I highly recommend! read more

What a great addition to Houston! The Rustic has a special "homey, but classy" feel to it. We tried the pork carnitas, beef carnitas, and the cactus fries. Everything was excellent. My friends had the brunch and were also very impressed. Tony was our bar tender and was very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. I tried their rift on the old fashioned and the Rebecca Creek Smash, both were very balanced and tasty. They did have some nice allocated bourbons that are difficult to find as well. They have obviously put a lot of thought and care into building this venue and have done an excellent job! read more

Three people greeted us before our server came over. Quest was cold. Ate our appetizer that was promised to be reheated before our drinks even made it to the table. Beautiful place but HORRIBLE SERVICE!! we were a large group of people we waited 1 hour for them to give us a table When there was available tables for us, and then when they gave us the table they told us they didn't have waitresses to take our orders when we literally saw them taking other orders for other people, and that each of us had to go to the bar and order their own food and pay directly in there. The service and food are great! Visited a few days after dine-in was opened back up. All the employees wore masks and the tables were spread out. The menu was online and you used a QR code to view it. Very easy to use and a creative way to avoid using/cleaning menus. I ordered the Texas Philly Cheesesteak and it was very tasty! My coworker ordered the beer can game hen and it looked awesome! He said it was great. We also ordered the queso with homemade chips and it was so good! We ventured out to downtown yesterday and decided to stop and have lunch. We found this place by chance and decided to give it a shot! Wow!! What an awesome experience!! The food is fantastic! The atmosphere is over the top! Great staff! We will definitely be back here! The managers were hyper sensitive to enforcing the Social Distancing rule with finesse. Highly recommend the quest and homemade chips appetizer...OMG!! Oh, and in these crazy times they have come up with a very innovative way to disperse the menu. Let's start off with the food... AMAZING! Was not expecting it to be that flavorful and rich in taste! The brunch buffet was definitely a great choice (cost efficient as well). Our servers Z and Danielle were so patient and helpful. It was our first time and they were very welcoming and were great about checking on our table periodically. Lastly, the managers Sandy and Will sparked a random conversation with us that really made our day! They were so friendly and were cracking jokes throughout our brunch. Showed up for happy hour last night, sat in the bar area at a non reserved empty table with two other friends. We were asked to move being told a couple of men were outside smoking and would be returning shortly. They never did. The waitstaff and manager handled this so poorly circling and harassing us constantly. Clearly not a welcoming spot for senior citizens. read more

Went to The Rustic at the downtown location. The food is mediocre at best. We started off with drinks, my husband's old fashion was good and I had the mojito, with no mint. Who makes a mojito without mint? My husband had the cedar plank salmon and I had the "drunk chick". They were both okay. The ambience is casual and relaxing. I like the set up, you feel like your outside. I'm not sure if I'd re-visit as the sides for the specialties were blah. I would have loved yo have either Mac n' cheese or mashed potatoes with my drunk chick as well as the cedar plank salmon. Not a good experience at all. We were excited and ready for a great night one the town -- dinner and then the John Mulaney show at the Toyota Center. We sat down and the waitress came by. Within 10 seconds the vibe was dead. She clearly didn't want to be there and refused to talk louder than a whisper. We. Heard. Nothing. Very confusing. And annoying. We thought oh well....maybe the food will make up for her low energy. Nope. The food was bland and needlessly heavy. One order was incorrect so we sent it back and after waiting 30 min, it came back incorrect once again. There was no point in asking The Whisperer for an explanation. We paid and got out of there. We (7 of us) attended a function at the Convention Center and it went to about 9:30. We were famished and one of our party had suggested The Rustic since it was within walking distance. I was worried that everyone would have the same idea and we wouldn't be able to be seated. But the hostess greeted us happily and went quickly to work to find room for us. She also said the kitchen stopped taking orders at 10:15 so she gave us menus to look over while she found a table. Once seated, though, attention slowed quite a bit. A server finally appeared and took drink orders. No water was served until we asked. He didn't reappear for a good 10 minutes or so and only after I stopped an employee and asked if he could get word to our waiter that we would like our drinks and to share our orders. Finally, drinks all around -- he apologized and explained there had been a mixup at the bar -- and he took our orders. From there everything went fine. He was a fine young man and made sure we were happy. He recovered well. The food was indeed good. I ordered the Rustic burger and it was incredible with the brisket topping. The onion ring app was big enough for the table and was tasty. The beer was ice cold and he kept it flowing. All 7 of us walked out sated and pleased. My 1st time at the restaurant was interesting considering when I informed the hostess it was my 1st experience she decided to sit me in the outdoor area in 49°F weather. The menu is quite limited, but unique and tasty. I ordered the Drunk Chicken which was pretty much a grilled cornish hen with a tasty garlic butter topping and cooked with a can of beer inside. The ambiance was great... had like a slight club/bar feel to it with a live band stage in the far background. We sat down and ordered the double cheese appetizer. They literally give like a half cups worth of queso and pimento cheese with a large bowl of homemade potato chips. I don't recommend it. I ordered the Rustic Burger. There was nothing fancy or tasty about it, and it was not worth $15. I've had much better. My friend ordered the Romaine salad and added chicken to it. It was supposed to have been with a balsamic dressing , and yet, it was super oily that she only had a few bites. The chicken was bland. Mixed review here the venue is nice and spacious albeit pretty much outdoor though. We came here for for a birthday lunch on Sunday and didn't realize only the brunch menu is available. Pricing seems a bit high for the food and drinks. Breakfast sausage was super dry and didn't really care for it. We asked for French fries and were told they didnt serve fries but pictures tell a different story. We had two toddlers with us and asked for waters for the table and server neglected the toddlers for waters and extra small plates for them to drink and eat from. So service is a bit lacking, parking stinks, average food all equals to a meh experience. read more
