Apparently Rodeo Goat is a Texas chain but as chains go, this is a good one. Rodeo Goat is a burger joint but on steroids, and amphetamines. The burgers and fries were phenomenal, and the toppings range from typical to insane. We had a table of 7 guys who had spent the day drinking beer and attending an Astros game, so I was slightly buzzed upon arrival. So of course we started with more beer. They had probably 15-20 brews on tap and most of them were local. Then we pretty much ordered all their fries. There were regular fries, sweet potato fries, chili cheese fries, cheese fries with jalapenos and bacon....at this point I sound like Bubba Gump. For a burger I got a Whiskey Burger. It had a blackberry jam, candied bacon, cheddar and a bourbon mustard. Delicious! All great beer drinking food. So why only 4 stars instead of 5? This is my second visit and I brought a guest! The burger was delicious, they had so many different varieties to choose from. I stuck with the Marvin Zindler, parking has gotten better because now they have a shared parking lot and it's only $10 no matter how long you stay. Side parking is available but that's always a challenge in Houston Tx Downtown! My guest decided to try that fry I bragged about last time except he went all out and got the "loaded fries surprise." He enjoyed it but could not eat it all at once like he thought. Lol! I stuck with a regular fry and just got then to bring me some cheese on the side. There is a paid parking lot across the street, or you can try to find free street parking. Side note, do not leave any valuables in your car as my friend's car was broken into. When you walk into the establishment, no one will seat you, so you'll need to find a table yourself and a waiter will come by shortly after. When planning out me and my friend's itinerary, we were trying to find a food spot that would be close to Truck Yard and I just happened to come across Rodeo Goat on Maps, and it didn't disappoint! Their burger menu was great, and had many different loaded burger options, which I loved! I ended up getting the Sugar Burger which came with the patty, candied bacon, grilled peaches, caramelized onion, and jalapeño jam. The peach was a great addition and added a faint sweet touch to it. During a conference my coworkers and I walked here. When we walked up we were a bit confused as to where to go because the hostess station is in the far back of the restaurant. We had a great time here as the weather was perfect to sit outside. Our waiter was great even though he disappeared after we got our food. It was my first time here but the friends I came with all generally agreed that the burgers were smaller than they remembered (not sure if there's been a downsizing over time or if they had larger portions from other locations). I went for The Luv Ya Blue, which had great flavor and texture from the bleu cheese slaw. The waiter recommended it cooked Medium Well. I also ordered the Salted Caramel Pretzel milkshake and saw stars with how good it was- I would come back for the milkshakes alone. The pairing was also suprisingly good. Our bartender was amazing and attentive. We got the loaded fries with brisket chili, I'm not sure we would get these again. Walked in at lunch time as part of the ACHE convention that has 7,000 attendees and they were busy but had things under control. Nice outside patio and large welcoming indoor area too. I sat at the inside bar. My order was taken in quickly and came out in just under 15 minutes. The burger was very good, know that when you order a burger that's all you get. The very first thing that stood out to me was the decor inside. Very goat themed hence the name "Rodeo Goat." There were goats on the walls, pictures of goats, goats statues, and my favorite a mural of goat jail with goats standing in front of a height chart for mugshots. This place is a go-to for a solid burger in the EaDo area! I've been here about 2 times already and both times I was super pleased with what I got (I don't quite remember what I got in the picture). As someone who doesn't typically pick burgers as their meal of choice, especially when going out to eat, I'd always agree to come back here because of how good the food is. Service is usually pretty quick to take your order, but when it's busy it is a bit harder to feel attended to and flag down a waiter (which is completely understandable). This is an extremely casual spot and is great for pre-game meals. Parking is a bit tricky because of the location. You can get lucky with street parking or park in the metered lot across the street. I'd highly recommend this place as a must-try for burgers in Houston though especially if you find yourself in the area. read more

We had a long night at a wedding the night before and were craving a big juicy burger before driving back home. We were looking for a dog friendly spot with a patio as well. Rodeo Goat delivered! For burgers we went with the Billy F. Gibbons and the Bodacious. Apparently the Bodacious is one of their popular burgers. For the Bodacious we added an extra patty and extra bacon. It came out ENORMOUS! Also with a side of Hand Punched Fries and I asked for extra Trailboss Habanero Sauce on the side. We like it spicy! It is homemade, flavorful and definitely has a kick to it. Added Monday bonus...they have $3 Moontang all day on Mondays. We had never heard of this and decided to give it a try. Not bad! A refreshing frozen moonshine and orange drink. Slightly sweet, but not overdone. Needless to say neither one of us could finish pie burgers ha the Bodacious was insanely massive. I probably would get the Billy F. Gibbons again. In town for Hyrox and we were super hungry after competing. Police officers suggested this place when I asked for a good burger spot close to the convention center. It was a quick/easy 10 minute walk. Server was amazing! She answered all questions and went above and beyond. Her suggestions were on point, everything we had was top notch! Clean, good staff and plenty of parking. Now, if there had been actual goats making or serving the burgers, and those goats had been dressed up in cowboy hats and chaps for the rodeo, I'd probably eat here for every meal for the rest of my life. Parking plus all the construction is just a mess! Where to begin?? Staff was ok it felt like you were bothering them vs a welcoming friendly staff.It felt like they had worked non stop and you walked in 5min before closing but they had just opened 2hrs ago.So that just added to it but with all ordeal with parking it was "we're already here let's just stay". The drinks were the best part of the meal. The bad part? Besides the price was the size. According to one of the wait staff they only have 1 cup size for all drinks. They also limit the amounts on some drinks. Now for the main course the burgers everyone raves and posts about all over social media. For the price I was expecting something new, something I haven't had or way better than your reg fast food burgers. The burger were avg at best. I got the Marvin Z. It lacked salt/flavor. It came with a pickle chutney that if you ask me I couldn't tell you if it was really there. The bun was soft but it was soggy and the longer it took you to eat it the worst it got. You had to lit try and hold everything together or you'd end up need a fork to eat your burger. I got chips and that was the best part of the meal especially with the ranch they came with. I was at a cheer competition recently at the convention center and didn't want to lose my parking space so loaded up my Yelp app to find a good restaurant nearby for lunch. I saw rodeo goat and decided to check it out, merely based on the name and because I love a good burger. We took the quick walk there and expected to have to wait because it was pretty busy but found a seat immediately. Our waiter was quick to greet us and very friendly. He explained things on the menu that I had questions about and we were able to place our order quickly. I ordered a royale with cheese burger as well as the cheese fries surprise. Once it came, I knew there was no way I was going to finish it all. The burger was amazing. It had American cheese, chopped onions, jalapeño bacon, mustard, and a spiked ketchup, which tasted like possibly a whiskey, ketchup? The beef is itself was flavorful and moist. Even without the toppings, it would've been delicious. The fries were quite the creation and so delicious. I was bummed I couldn't finish them because it was such a huge serving. They had cheddar, bacon, and jalapeños on top of fries. Under the fries was brisket chili. They were a meal themselves. It was so filling I didn't even eat dinner that night. Definitely one of the best burgers I've ever had. The restaurant itself was kind of fun. Taxidermy goats, a warehouse type restaurant with a lot of wood, these long tables with dividers so you can share them with others. Definitely my kind of vibe. Service was also very consistent. It's been 7 years since I've been to rodeo goat and the food is very consistent. I came on a Saturday night with my girlfriends after going to frostys Christmas pop up across the street and surprisingly there was no wait. I ordered the firebird and one of my friends had the river oaks burger and our vegan friend had the Neil young. The firebird and river oaks were good and juicy. The firebird is supposed to be a hot chicken sandwich but it's not hot or spicy. It's still very flavorful though. Once again the Neil young veggie patty was very bland and underwhelming.
