The food was good and the service was great. I give it a five stars rate my first time there.

Worst service I have ever received. Came here for my girlfriends moms birthday with a group of 7. Waited 2 hours just to get seated, so when I checked with the front desk for the 3rd time it appeared they forgot to call our group to be seated. We finally got seated and and went along with our dinner orders, but 15 minutes later a "manager" came out and told one person in our party that they couldn't do the beer can chicken, so they needed to pick something else on the menu if they wanted their meal to come out at the same time as everyone else. So when the food comes out, 2 people in our group did not ever receive their food. Another "manager" comes by and gives another excuse, offering to cover the meal completely, which was good because we were not going to pay for anything after all of this. We were given the 2 "missing" entrees and sides to-go and couldn't wait to get out of there. As it turned out, inside the boxes wasn't even the food that the 2 people had ordered, they even messed that order up. Don't come here with a big group (we had 7). Don't come here for a special occasion either, it will get messed up. How embarrassing to have to watch everyone else in your group eat their dinner while you don't get yours. read more

After all the hype I finally went this past Friday night. First of all the parking is valet only and $10. Any other parking you have to find on your own on the street or another parking lot. Once I got inside I found that the venue is huge and it's pretty. There was a band playing on stage- mellow country and western music. They did stop playing music by 11 pm I believe and switched to music over speakers. Which at this hour I'd expect the band to START playing. This place has more of a barn set up/ feel with regular tables and picnic tables set up throughout with limited outdoor seating in comparison to the indoor area. I have to say at first I was excited, I reviewed the menu- which was a bit pricey for many of the types of food items. Quesadillas for example were $17. My boyfriend ordered those. He got literally 4 pieces/ triangles of quesadilla which were flat (not much in them considering he ordered the steak ones) and they were so greasy the tortillas were practically soaking in pure grease. They were accompanied with a small portion of some kind of corn relish, which was good, but definitely in no way was this worth $17. I ordered a burger medium well. I got a burger that was charred on the outside and raw on the inside. I had to ask the waitress to take it back and she said the kitchen got it wrong. She brought me another one and that one was also charred on the outside but cooked on the inside and DRY. It did come with chips. That was $14-15. One of my friends ordered the beer can chicken and that did look really good and he said it was as well. Maybe this was an off night for the kitchen and just our bad luck experiencing bad food. Not sure. But the place doesn't have convenient parking, expensive valet, expensive food, and considering they have a stage set up for bands, you would think there would be a dance floor or an area to dance but there really isn't. This place definitely does has potential to improve. Kitchen needs some work on some of their food items. Venue is pretty but not much to do other than sit or pick one of the couple of corn hole games set up outside. Maybe have a dance area and maybe dim the lights a bit up front where the band plays? I'd love to see this venue make improvements. They have a great idea and relatively good location. Wishing the best for them to succeed! read more

The atmosphere was great! Our servers and hostess were both welcoming. The food was upscale and seemed a little pricey but it is downtown Houston. The food was good though. We are not from the area but if we were, we would return, probably for drinks. It was a fun place! read more

The physical space is gorgeous, but everything else about this place sucks. First, service is extremely slow. We had to ask for sugar (for coffee) twice and water three times just to get those basic items. The waiter messed up the checks three different times before finally getting them right. Our waiter had an attitude with me when I wanted to pour my own coffee. The brunch menu is family style with no substitutions. So, if no one in your party eats meat, tough luck...you're going to have a whole bunch of wasted food. This makes no sense - why would the restaurant want to give us meat (which is more expensive) only for us not to eat it, even when we'd gladly accept cheaper veggies? It feels like the kitchen is just one big assembly line. Also, good luck if you have food allergies of any kind. You're pretty much screwed. It was really cold because the garage doors were open, and there was live music going on at noon on a Sunday, so you couldn't hear any conversation. There weren't enough waiters for the number of patrons so we barely got checked on. We had to keep flagging down different waiters to help us. Finally, they have a $10 valet and no self parking...again, just like the food situation, it feels like they're just trying to make money off of you rather than providing an enjoyable experience. This place is very Instagrammable but the actual experience isn't worth the price. Take your business elsewhere. read more

We visited Rustic after hearing from friends about its good food. We were not impressed. The Mac and cheese tasted like cheese wiz and we don't like that taste. The kitchen and wait staff seemed to be confused the night we visited and it took a while to get our food. And we had to ask for our salads to be brought out after a long period after ordering. Valet parking is terrible, i came here for my girlfriends birthday and tried to valet my car. I asked if i could keep my keys because i feel comfortable with that. The valet said no. He said because i can come out and leave with my car, i then offered to pay the $10 on the spot so that way i keep my keys and he can keep his $10. He then said thats not how it works. After arguing and talking to managers after 10 mins he said that he could take my $10 and valet the car before i go inside. I then told him that I already suggested that and he said "no you didn't". The hubby and I had the best date night at this place! The ambiance was so fun, and the band was awesome! The food was bursting with flavor; we had to walk by the kitchen and give the guys a thumbs up. (I had the drunk chicken, and the hubs had the plank salmon.) My margarita with a sangria popsicle was such a treat, I'm taking my girlfriends back for more. We had a couple waitresses serving our table, and both were incredibly nice and gave the best food and drink recommendations. We tried the brunch. I did enjoy our food, however family style at this place doesn't quite mean the same thing I have seen it mean at other restaurants. So, as long as you know and understand how much food you will be getting for the brunch, maybe you won't be disappointed. It just so happens that I was willing to eat each item that they brought, and it was good to me. But some in our party did not eat certain things and would have preferred to be able to taste a little more of the items they were enjoying, they were shorted. Extremely disappointing service. Went to eat a birthday brunch here and after the servers brought out the food, it seems like they all disappeared. My table consisted of 11 people, breaking the group down into (4)(4)(3) people in the subgroups. My table had to rearrange our food constantly because they were served to the wrong subgroup, groups of 4 receiving the platters meant for the group of 3 and vice versa. None of our water glasses were refilled during the almost two hours we spent there, we even asked the one server we managed to find and we still did not get any water refills. The only redeeming quality about this place was the live music/stage. This venue is huge but it lacked the staff to accommodate for the large lunch rush we saw trickling in. read more

We were promptly met with smiling faces and wonderful hospitality. Lauren (sp?) made our visit to the Rustic super special. She made us feel at home, answered all of our questions & gave us honest answers. Her counterpart, Roberto, was great as well. Extensive beer and cocktail menu, lots of options for food, great happy hour selection. We had the boar meatballs, gulf shrimp cocktail and chips con queso. All delicious. I had the quail for dinner, 110% delicious and I would order it again, every. time. My parents had Joe's tacos with the picadillo and brisket. Their dinner was For dessert we had the peanut butter pie and s'mores ice box cake, hooooooly dynamite. The reasons I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5? There were some disconnects with the bar & getting drinks sorted out and to the table. Waited about 5-10 mins for a draft beer and a cider. Took awhile before someone told us that they needed to change the keg. Dad told them to forget the beer and to get him a dessert digestif instead....beer still came & the dessert digestif was never mentioned again. The other reason, it's 49-degrees and only getting lower, and they still open the giant doors to the outside. ITS FREAKING COLD, WHY?! I get that there's live music...but only the fiddle player was there thus far and there were still 2-3 hours before they went on stage. Why open the stupid large gorgeous glass doors?! I begged the manager to close the larger of the three, finally they did and then, after freezing through dinner, did Roberto mention they have blankets for their guests. Where were these when I told the manager I was freezing?? Just a tiny bit frustrating (esp after I shared that I have medical conditions that cause increased sensitivity to cold), but like I said, Lauren made it worth it. I'm just going to chalk these things up to still ironing things out after just opening. Would we go back? Absolutely. Order the same thing? 110%. Would I go back when it's freezing? No, I'll wait until it's a comfy temp, at least in the evening. I can't wait to go back for their frozen cocktails Huge shout out to Lauren for being so accommodating, knowledgeable, and delightful! Pretty cool venue, very crowded - make sure to have reservations if you're going on a weekend evening. Seems to be a popular dinner and entertainment spot downtown.
