Our view from the pool area

If you can get a table with a view, it's amazing: especially at sunset. The servers are always friendly. We usually get shareables to eat, and we have liked everything we've tried.

Shrimp toast (SO DELICIOUS!)

We purchased daypasses to the rooftop pool at the Mission Pacific Hotel on Sunday and ordered some small plates and drinks on our visit. Our server for the whole day was Noah, and HUGE props to that young man!! He was always one step ahead of us asking for ANYTHING and that was on top of being completely swamped with guests. He was fun, energetic, professional, and so well versed with their offerings which was a big reason why our first ever visit was one to remember and one to keep us coming back. Thank you Noah, we hope to see you again soon at the pool & we hope that you get recognition you deserve for outstanding service! Now, to the food and drinks! We ordered the seafood tower, bottle of sparkling rose and laphroaig on the rocks to start. The seafood tower... well... it was as fresh tasting as it gets. The accouterments were superb in pairing with the oysters... and the tuna tartare as well as the marinated sea bass were absolutely delicious especially paired with the perfectly seasoned tarot root chips. After the rose disappeared, I ordered the Teramar cocktail and it was what you would imagine should be drank poolside. A perfect balance of sweet, sour and tropical all in one. Later I ordered 3 (or 4 I don't remember haha) of the winter glow. Now, I dont like vanilla flavored adult beverages, but I saw it had earl grey tea, and I was intrigued. Well safe to say... I really really like it. It was like nothing ive had before and soooo smooth for what was in it. Definitely give that one a try! We also ordered the chicken sando and shrimp toast. The chicken sando was perfect, but the shrimp toast? Chefs kiss! I could eat that all day if you let me. Again, I have to say that Noah made our experience so much better... and although it was SO very busy, he did his absolute best to communicate slow downs happening at the bar and just made sure we knew we were never being forgotten. My boyfriend, his mom, and myself were and are still blown away. We will 100% be back, hopefully on a more regular basis. This place is exactly the hype everyone states online. Its gorgeous in all parts of its property, and the service you get is top notch. Make sure to give this spot a try!!! And I hope you get the pleasure of being served by Noah on your visit. Make sure to take a look at my photos! I made sure to take a photo of all pages of the menu along with our orders.

The views are amazing!!! The staff are very friendly and the food and drinks were pretty good. I had the chicken sandwich which my server recommended. It was great. The menu is pretty limited and it's a bit pricy but worth it for the view.

Perfect to watch the sunset.

Views views views! I was on a statecation with my best friend when we discovered this place. The Rooftop Bar has a wonderful view of the Oceanside Pier. The food menu is a bit limited but great for small bites and to enjoy the sunset. The drinks arw very good and the service is good. Things to consider 1. Its a short walking distance from the boardwalk 2. Great for sunset views

Planned a friend's birthday party here and the vibe was amazing. The bar staff was helpful in getting our large reservation set up and the servers were very attentive/friendly. We got an outdoor space with a few tables near the pool and it was a great atmosphere. The space was pretty big inside and had both indoor/outdoor areas. The music was good too. The food options were a bit limited here so we focused on drinks. It can be pricey but the view and ambiance is what you pay for.

The views and vibe are great. Food is amazing. The service is so slow. Took us over an hour to get second drink and our food. Waiter forgot one of our drinks. So fun in summer and a great place for locals!

We were only here briefly and I do have to say, the rooftop had a pretty cool view of the pier and beach! The pool wasn't open yet when we came by in the late morning, although the hot tub was open (quite small though). Our toddler liked climbing on the couch and soft cushions surrounding the covered pool, and we got lucky with the weather in late November since it was nice and sunny with a cool breeze (mid-60s!). I ordered the passion fruit spritz mocktail ($10) while chilling here before heading down to the oceanside pier itself. When we left, we saw a ton of hotel guests having brunch as well, so it seems like it's a popular place to be! The rooftop did end up closing early for a private event (wedding?) from the early afternoon all through the evening, which can put a damper on your plans if you'd like to come here for the sunset or an afternoon dip in the rooftop pool.

Our friends took us to this restaurant for the beautiful view of Oceanside Beach and pier. We sat in the pool area at the furthest corner table. It had the best view but it was a bit noisy. It's beautifully decorated and very picturesque. I would say this place is better suited for groups of 4 or less. We were a group of 6 and options were limited. The food was on the pricey side because portions were quite small. More like tapas than actually plates. Food was hit or miss. We did like the cocktails and those were delicious.

The hotel itself is stunning. Have to take a moment to admire the design and atmosphere! We weren't able to get seated on the rooftop dining terrace on a Tuesday evening around 7pm where we were hoping, so we decided to dine by the pool, the hostess was friendly. The views from the rooftop were outstanding and watching the sunset was amazing! The server and food were pretty slow. Took over 15 minutes to be greeted which in my book is a "red flag". Server wasn't very friendly or welcoming, didn't go out of her way to do anything extra or above and beyond at all other than taking our order. Food took about 30 minutes which isn't too bad, we ordered the chicken sandwich, cheese monger, & feta dip. The food was very good once we got it. We asked for more pita and bread for our apps and we received it pretty much after we were done eating but we didn't mind because we could tell it was fresh and understood it probably took some time to come out of the oven. I wanted to love this place but the service took it down to 5 stars. Also, we were charged $6 for a club soda, and weren't thrilled about that. It felt a bit sneaky to charge for rhat. Will we be back? Unsure. If we had a lively, friendly, and attentive server- absolutely.

The rooftop bar at Mission Pacific Beach Resort was a great experience overall. It was very accessible and not hard to find at all, which made getting there easy and stress-free. The ambience was amazing -- stylish, relaxed, and perfect for enjoying the ocean views. I was pleasantly surprised by how lively it was, especially for a Monday night. There were a lot of people, which really added to the energy of the space. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in the area.

My friends and I were visiting for a Bachelorette party and wanted to try this place. It was confusing on how to get to this bar since it is on the roof of a hotel. We had to go in the hotel and ask for directions. Once we got to the top floor, it had a great view and they were very busy. It was hard to accommodate for a group of 9, but they found seating us seating under some heated lamps. It was nice because it was cold out, especially being next to the beach. Our server seemed like he did not want to be there. We all got our orders in and shared all the food. The oysters were good. The platter with steak and sandwiches were good, but the vegetables were average. The total came out to ~$400, but we were still hungry so we decided to leave and get more food. The prices were extremely expensive, but the pool and atmosphere was amazing. If you're not worried about the price, this is a good place to go to if you enjoy the atmosphere and experience.

We stayed at Mission's and checked out the Rooftop and were throughly happy with the great views underneath heat lamps. The food was very Californian using local ingredients and beautiful plating. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered especially the artichokes. The flavors are unique and creative. We look forward to returning in the future and redoing our exact trip because we loved it so much. Staff were friendly throughout the whole hotel and friendly smiles all around.

Ask the Community - The Rooftop Bar

Is it kid friendly?

We've brought our kids here (6/7 yo on our first visit). It was great.

What oysters are currently being served (november '23)? Last time I was here it was the Cape Cods and looking to enjoy them again.

Do they have gift certificates/cards?

Is there a happy hour menu?

No We asked that yesterday They do not have one

Hello, do you think on a Friday afternoon we'd be able to enjoy the bar without a reservation?

Nobody is there You should be fine

Do you have a kids' menu on the rooftop?

Hi Adrienne, we do have kids offerings; which includes chicken tenders, quesadilla, and steak tacos

Is a reservation required?

There's an upper level (by the bar) and a lower level for seating. You don't need one for the upper level, but you will need one for the lower level if you want to sit down on a busy weekend afternoon.

Is there a happy hour?

Hey there. There isn’t a happy hour yet. But possibly in the future!

Are dogs allowed on Rooftop Bar?

Yes we are dog friendly at the rooftop! :)

Do accept reservations? Do you have music? What time do you close? Thank you,…

Hi Alicia, We do currently accept reservations. If you go to the Mission Pacific Hotel website and scroll down to The Rooftop Bar, there is a link to our reservation portal… Read more

There is a bar/lounge level on the first floor which is fairly chill and then, for you adventurers, you walk and walk and walk up the stairs to the rooftop deck. I tried the Cobra Kai drink (rum, rum, more rum, and maybe some fruit juice) and it knocked me out. You won't be unhappy with the heavy pours here. They also do fun and delicious mocktails. The fish tacos were outstanding. You get two of them and they are huge and delicious. Get them beer battered. I am a huge fan of Cubano sandwiches. The one here is fine but is not a must order. It is a "Hawaiian Cuban" (wrap your brains around that fusion combo) and comes with your normal Cubano ingredients (pickles, ham and cheese) and also minced kalua pork. The kalua pork was very dry and I just don't think the combination works. Just my two cents. The bartender and other staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Interestingly, the place is kid friendly but I think they stop the kiddos from entering around 8 or so. I am not exactly sure. This is a fun place for tik
