Pho chay (tofu and veggies)
Stanley Y.

Great food, service and atmosphere!! Highly recommend! Great value for the portions given . If you're in the neighborhood, be sure to drop by this little hidden gem! Tell Navi I recommended it!

Clockwise: Pho Do Bien (seafood), Pho Bo (beef), Grilled Lemongrass Chicken, stolen broth

I have been here a gazillion times as it is my go-to for pho in the area. Although it's not the best Pho I ever had, service is quick and it hits the spot when the craving hits. On a cold day, who doesn't want Pho? Hungover? The answer is Pho.

Beef Satay Entree

The beef satay is amazing! Just wish they gave you more meat. Same with the wings, only 5 per order. If the portions were bigger I would've gave it 5/5.

Extra Side of pickled daikon/carrot with Angus Beef Short Ribs

My faveeeeeee thing from here is the short rib entree!!! With rice wowwwww! Even though everything is my fave from this place.. the short rib is top notch! A must try.

THE ROLLING SPRING ROLL (RSR) I thought I wrote a review 6 years ago? Pre-Covid RSR was a constant in our work lunch rotation. Efficient lunch service allowed you to order a quick bowl of Pho, Crispy Spring Rolls wrapped in fresh crisp lettuce, pungent cilantro then dipped in rich Peanut sauce = Perfect Lunch Combos. Fast Forward to 2023. Deciding on where to lunch with our curious newbie co-workers, with none of them ever having Vietnamese before, they were eager to try the cuisine. After a few questions, the still efficient staff took orders of Pho, Summer Rolls, some Vietnamese Dumplings plus the obligatory Spring Rolls for the table. My colleagues loved everything! Thus another successful culinary introduction has been completed. Well so I thought. After a discussion with friends that know the cuisine better than I, I ended up being schooled. I was told that this is not authentic Vietnamese and RSRs dishes are very tempered down. I will admit, Pre-Covid to me the effort put into the dishes were much better, but isn't that like most things these days? I get it, sadly corners are being cut everywhere. After those thoughts were expressed to me, my take is this. For the Syosset area to still have a semblance of this culinary option remaining open all these years, RSR will continue to remain an option in our work lunch rotation. 4.0 to 3.5

Banh mi sandwich
H M.

Who's watching the kitchen staff ? If you combined the chicken from the two sandwiches into one sandwich, it may have been acceptable. The cilantro was rough cut and full of stem pieces, Who's watching the kitchen staff? Anyway, the flavors were very good and the bread was good too, step it up and give a fair shake to your customers.

GET THE SPRING ROLLS - Original or Veggie, you cannot go wrong

Went again, can't stop myself, this time ordered 2x the normal amount of spring rolls and don't regret a thing - BEST spring rolls ever

Beef Pho Bo (beef)

I am always on the lookout for Banh Xeo. They have it on the menu here, which beats the drive to Queens. The food is delicious! The service is attentive. The prices are decent. The decor is nice, lots of space with tables and benches and booths. Definitely a 'go to' on Long Island.

Pho Bo (taken out). The plastic baggie in the bowl was the raw sliced meat I asked to be packed separately.

Been coming to Roling Spring Roll for years now but never brought my meal home. Eating in the restaurant is always yum but I didn't have time to sit and enjoy my lunch so I ordered for a pick up. I ordered a PHO BO - beef (regular size) with the raw sliced meat packed separately. When I got home and saw my sliced meat in a baggie, I was a happy camper. The Rolling Spring Roll continues to satisfy this Yelper in and out of the restaurant after all these years. Wishing The Rolling Spring Roll continued success!!

I've came here a handful of times during the past few years and decided to return today since their only 15 minutes away and I didn't feel like driving far. You really can't compare the Vietnamese food on LI to Queens or Manhattan. You can only hope to get your craving fixed in which I did. You have to scan your phone and order/pay through the toasttab website or if you're not able to, they can do it for you on their end. The food here is decent at best, price is a bit higher and the portions are smaller than average compared to other Vietnamese places. I got the nem nuong (grilled pork sausage) & spring rolls with vermicelli noodles and a classic banh mi sandwich. My other half got the pho bo and crispy pork spring rolls app. Everything was decent except for the banh mi, that was not good at all. There were like 1 piece of meat in it with a bunch of veggies and the baguette was thick. The spring rolls were my favorite, they tasted crispy & fresh. If you're not picky & have a craving for Vietnamese food and happen to be in the area, come here to get your fix. They have a location on Main Street in Farmingdale as well.

4 Shrimp Spring Rolls
Diandra D.

I ordered the Pho Ga (chicken), summer rolls, shrimp spring rolls, and Vietnamese dumplings.. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I was disappointed. The Pho Ga was really underwhelming with no taste, seasoning.. I liked the dumplings and the shrimp spring rolls were okay, but that was about it. Also, I didn't experience the in person service, but my uber eats came fairly quick. I likely wouldn't try this place again.

Ask the Community - The Rolling Spring Roll

Has anyone noticed that the prices for online ordering are a LOT higher than the ones on the pictures menus?

Hey! Yes I've noticed this and they don't orders over the phone so you're either forced to order online (more expensive) or go there in person and place a order and wait until they make it. I've mentioned this very upsetting. Hope this helps!

How are they with shellfish allergies?

They don't ask specifically at the table and there are items with shellfish in them. I would make it a point to tell the staff when you order.

Gluten Free Options?

Yes I believe at least three dishes being gluten free. However they do not list them that way, but knowing gluten free they have choices.

We went for the lunch special which had two options: $12 lunch with choice of appetizers & main or $15 lunch which is the same as the $12 option but just includes a choice of drink. We both got Vietnamese Coffee. I got the iced and she got the hot version. The iced Vietnamese coffee is already premixed, but the hot version they give a side of the condensed milk so you can add as much or little you want. I tried their spring rolls which had a nice crisp bite. It was also served with pickled daikon and carrots for a nice refresher. For the entree I got the pho bo vein which had beef meatballs as the protein. The basil, jalapeño slices, bean sprouts and lime slice are on the side, so you can add as much to your liking. The noodles were nice and bouncy. The broth was light and flavorful. We always have great service every time we go. Definitely will be back in the future.

I did not notice until I was mostly complete with my sandwich, but luckily did not bite into the pepper before noticing the fuzz growing on it. However, you can clearly see the fuzzy pepper in the picture I took before digging in. I got the lunch special, which features a drink, app, and entree. The lemonade was nice and fresh tasting, the crispy wings were fantastic, and the banh mi was actually very tasty. Not the best I've had, but it was flavorful and the pickled veggies tasted fresh. I was very disappointed to find a moldy pepper, which ultimately ruined the experience for me. Hopefully, nothing I actually ate was bad, and this pepper was the only one that went missed in a kitchen check. I hate to turn folks away from a nice local spot with good tasting food, but I will never recommend a spot with moldy food.

We were a group of five and she was unwilling to pull the tables together for us, so we had to sit at two different tables. We placed our orders and waited for more than 20 minutes to get our phos. She did not even give us water while we were waiting because she was busy cooking other customers' orders. The portion of the grilled pork chop was much smaller than last few time we ate there, but the pork chop was still tasty. The soup base and noodle portion for the pho was decent. There were no napkins at the table, so you would have to ask for it if you need that. Some disappointment, but may give it another try if I am in the area next time.

We ordered 3 items. The #1 pho. Broth was top notch and doesn't try too hard like a lot of the "modern" viet places. Great traditional flavors. However, it is missing tripes and tendons which is a bummer but I'll overlook it because the broth was very good. The bahnmi had good flavors but it had a lot of veggies vs meat. However, the bread was perfectly crisp on the outside and slightly soft on the inside. Next time we'll try the pork or chicken bahn mi instead. And the chicken on the side was great. Soft and flavorful. Definitely a spot to check out if you're craving Viet and just want a quick bite that is sure to satisfy. We will be back!

Park head in and do not park in the employee parking lot or else a ticket can cost you $75! Pho is one of my favorite food so I have pretty high standards, but low expectations for this place. Upon walking in, I was surprised to walk into an empty restaurant and the waiter greeted us and informed us that we could sit anywhere. I saw there were proper sauces (hoisin and Sriracha) on the table as well as stainless steel chopsticks and soup spoons! The waiter asked us our preference for water and handed us the menus. The menu is pretty condense with no drinks like Thai Iced Tea or anything. My friend and I shared an appetizer, the shrimp spring rolls. They were perfectly crispy and cooked. Wrap it with lettuce and dip into the fish sauce - it was perfection! I ordered a Normal Beef Pho and my friend ordered a beef banh mi. The pho comes in small, normal or x-large. My appetite is average and the normal was perfect size! The soup is well flavored and noodles perfectly textured, not too soft or hard. The meats needed a bit of work especially the meatballs. My friend enjoyed her banh mi and said it was sufficient enough to fill her up. The color of everything looked really good and I will probably try it next time! The restaurant accepts credit cards, but there is a 2.5% surcharge so cash preferred! There is also a one stall restroom, very clean and spacious. Great customers service and delicious food! Will be back another day with more friends!!

I was worried that we would lose the nice tiny local pho place when the previous business shut down…read moreand was glad to see Pho XPress take over the space! Menu is pretty identical, a choice limited selection of hot soupy pho, banh mi, and bun dishes. It is a tiny little place, though there are seats available for dine-in. I do think they're smart for offering the "American" options like burgers and tenders so that you can accommodate for people who may be picky. We got summer rolls to share, and I had a small beef pho. I love that there are smaller and bigger size options available. They don't try to razz you up with bone marrow and premium beef cut options-- a combo beef pho with meatballs, flank, and brisket meat is the standard. I do like tripe when it is available, but I understand that's not a popular choice. The soup came hot and with the proper basket of sprouts, herbs, jalapeño and limes on the side. We also got a classic prok banh mi and it came with a ton of veggies and herbs (especially cilantro, which other places are now stingy with!) I didn't get to try, but I was told it was a good sandwich. The broth could have been a touch more beefy, but it was good enough to satisfy my stomach on a very windy day. Overall, I am glad Pho Xpress is maintaining a decently-priced Vietnamese joint at a time where it's becoming difficult to find anywhere decently priced. I want to try getting take-out soon.

3.5 Stars for their lunch specials!…read more This was our first visit, and we only ordered a salad and two lunch specials. I would definitely come back to try other items from their regular menu. I found the entrees in the lunch special a little skimpy. These are the dishes we shared: -- Papaya Salad ($12): this is from their regular menu, and I thought it was excellent! Well balanced and so tasty! -- Drunken Noodles w.Beef (Lunch Special $14.95): this came with a Spring Roll and your choice of either Soup or Salad. We chose the Soup, which was a Tom Yum Soup. The Soup was very spicy but the Drunken Noodles were very mild; almost bland. It definitely needed more flavors and wok hei, but still ok. -- Massaman Curry w.Shrimp (Lunch Special $14.95): this came with a Spring Roll and your choice of either Soup or Salad. We chose the Salad, which came with a Peanut sauce. The Salad was actually pretty good; the peanut sauce was slightly sweet. The Massaman Curry w.Shrimp was very weak in flavor and only came with 3 little shrimps. I would suggest you order a different protein and skip the shrimp. Customer service was good; albeit there was nobody to greet us when we first arrived, so we just seated ourselves. But service got better. They didn't rush us to order and let us linger after we finished eating. But after a while, we were asked to leave since they close the restaurant in between the lunch and dinner service (between 3:30-4:30pm). Sorry, we were not aware of this! All in all, a decent first experience. Next time, I'd skip the lunch specials and just order off their regular menu.
