Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi
Cat C.

Located in a small shopping center with decent parking, they serve Vietnamese cuisine. It was my first time ordering takeout and I had grilled lemongrass chicken Banh mi. It was delicious! The bread was crunchy and soft and the sandwich had good flavor. There is a 3% credit card surcharge. Service was friendly and efficient. The decor is casual.

Great food, service and atmosphere!! Highly recommend! Great value for the portions given . If you're in the neighborhood, be sure to drop by this little hidden gem! Tell Navi I recommended it!

I have been here a gazillion times as it is my go-to for pho in the area. Although it's not the best Pho I ever had, service is quick and it hits the spot when the craving hits. On a cold day, who doesn't want Pho? Hungover? The answer is Pho.

Beef Satay Entree

The beef satay is amazing! Just wish they gave you more meat. Same with the wings, only 5 per order. If the portions were bigger I would've gave it 5/5.

THE ROLLING SPRING ROLL (RSR) I thought I wrote a review 6 years ago? Pre-Covid RSR was a constant in our work lunch rotation. Efficient lunch service allowed you to order a quick bowl of Pho, Crispy Spring Rolls wrapped in fresh crisp lettuce, pungent cilantro then dipped in rich Peanut sauce = Perfect Lunch Combos. Fast Forward to 2023. Deciding on where to lunch with our curious newbie co-workers, with none of them ever having Vietnamese before, they were eager to try the cuisine. After a few questions, the still efficient staff took orders of Pho, Summer Rolls, some Vietnamese Dumplings plus the obligatory Spring Rolls for the table. My colleagues loved everything! Thus another successful culinary introduction has been completed. Well so I thought. After a discussion with friends that know the cuisine better than I, I ended up being schooled. I was told that this is not authentic Vietnamese and RSRs dishes are very tempered down. I will admit, Pre-Covid to me the effort put into the dishes were much better, but isn't that like most things these days? I get it, sadly corners are being cut everywhere. After those thoughts were expressed to me, my take is this. For the Syosset area to still have a semblance of this culinary option remaining open all these years, RSR will continue to remain an option in our work lunch rotation. 4.0 to 3.5

My faveeeeeee thing from here is the short rib entree!!! With rice wowwwww! Even though everything is my fave from this place.. the short rib is top notch! A must try.

Banh mi sandwich

Who's watching the kitchen staff ? If you combined the chicken from the two sandwiches into one sandwich, it may have been acceptable. The cilantro was rough cut and full of stem pieces, Who's watching the kitchen staff? Anyway, the flavors were very good and the bread was good too, step it up and give a fair shake to your customers.

Went again, can't stop myself, this time ordered 2x the normal amount of spring rolls and don't regret a thing - BEST spring rolls ever

Beef Pho Bo (beef)

I am always on the lookout for Banh Xeo. They have it on the menu here, which beats the drive to Queens. The food is delicious! The service is attentive. The prices are decent. The decor is nice, lots of space with tables and benches and booths. Definitely a 'go to' on Long Island.

Pho Bo (taken out). The plastic baggie in the bowl was the raw sliced meat I asked to be packed separately.
Eva E.

Been coming to Roling Spring Roll for years now but never brought my meal home. Eating in the restaurant is always yum but I didn't have time to sit and enjoy my lunch so I ordered for a pick up. I ordered a PHO BO - beef (regular size) with the raw sliced meat packed separately. When I got home and saw my sliced meat in a baggie, I was a happy camper. The Rolling Spring Roll continues to satisfy this Yelper in and out of the restaurant after all these years. Wishing The Rolling Spring Roll continued success!!

Pho bo (beef)-XL-$13 The worst bowl of pho my husband ever had!

Ask the Community - The Rolling Spring Roll

Has anyone noticed that the prices for online ordering are a LOT higher than the ones on the pictures menus?

Hey! Yes I've noticed this and they don't orders over the phone so you're either forced to order online (more expensive) or go there in person and place a order and wait until they make it. I've mentioned this very upsetting. Hope this helps!

How are they with shellfish allergies?

They don't ask specifically at the table and there are items with shellfish in them. I would make it a point to tell the staff when you order.

Gluten Free Options?

Yes I believe at least three dishes being gluten free. However they do not list them that way, but knowing gluten free they have choices.

The layout is a bit strange with a counter towards the back where you pay but it's also a small space so they make it work. Our pho took a while. When we called they said 20 minutes but it ended up being about 40 minutes. They did allow us to sit in a booth while we waited, though. Once the food was ready we left with huge smiles as you could just smell how delicious this was going to be. The chicken pho did not disappoint. So much flavor! The broth was incredible. Noodles were good. Everything is sent home a la carte where you add the chicken, bean sprouts, sauce, etc. I could have just ate the broth and noodles but the chicken was also good.

The tendon was also disappointing--it came in huge chunks, was tough, and I spent more time wrestling with it than enjoying it. Service could definitely use some work. I mentioned I have a shrimp allergy, but our server still brought me shrimp... and then charged me for it anyway. Not exactly the seafood surprise I was hoping for. Overall, it wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't a place that wowed me either. I'd probably give it another shot someday, hoping for a better experience, but it's not at the top of my pho list.

There are some pictures on the windows on what dishes are what. I got the shrimp pho and my husband and I both got this vermicelli type salad. Everything was DELICIOUS. We also got these rolls that were amazing as well. The service was great. I'm assuming it was the owner, was the one who was helping us, and was amazing. He said the soul was ready before the vermicelli 'salad' and asked if we wanted it out first. We said sure and both enjoyed the soup. I myself put too much Sriracha in it so it was too spicy but that was totally my fault, not the owners. I put a little in at first and it didn't see like it went through enough, and then I put a bit more and it was too much. There also was a bbq type sauce on the table as well. From what I'm assuming. My husband and I will one hundred percent be coming back to try more!!! I highly recommend this place

The iced Vietnamese coffee is already premixed, but the hot version they give a side of the condensed milk so you can add as much or little you want. The banana dessert - one word - yum! We came in on a rainy Sunday afternoon in May. The vibe of place is exactly as pictured. We live in Nassau County and found this nice strip of restaurants a few weeks ago, and saw this pho restaurant and decided to try it. I like that there are parking lots in the area and very convenient on Sunday when parking is free. When we entered this place, it was empty. It was like walking into a cave. The tv was on and music playing lightly in the background. On tv was a baseball game or documentary of some sort. The server greeted us but in general you didn't get a warm and friendly greeting. Seems like a nice guy, and perhaps he was busy. Not sure. Eventually a few customers came in. I highly recommend shut the tv off and play the music a bit louder. The menu is good but we were surprised that they had a limited pho selection and no curry or stew dishes. If I lived or worked in the area and needed a quick meal or takeout, I'd definitely order here. But if you're looking for a pleasant place to have a meal, then the vibe of this place is not it. Seems more like a Chinese takeout vibe. Now I know what you're going to say - it's called Pho Xpress - duh. But honestly with just a little bit more effort with lighting, decor and music, they could up there game. Will I likely come back again - possibly, but if I'm looking for a nice place to go with a friend or on a date, probably not. If I lived or worked in this area, I'd definitely would be a regular.

Park head in and do not park in the employee parking lot or else a ticket can cost you $75! Pho is one of my favorite food so I have pretty high standards, but low expectations for this place. Upon walking in, I was surprised to walk into an empty restaurant and the waiter greeted us and informed us that we could sit anywhere. I saw there were proper sauces (hoisin and Sriracha) on the table as well as stainless steel chopsticks and soup spoons! The waiter asked us our preference for water and handed us the menus. The menu is pretty condense with no drinks like Thai Iced Tea or anything. My friend and I shared an appetizer, the shrimp spring rolls. They were perfectly crispy and cooked. Wrap it with lettuce and dip into the fish sauce - it was perfection! I ordered a Normal Beef Pho and my friend ordered a beef banh mi. The pho comes in small, normal or x-large. My appetite is average and the normal was perfect size! The soup is well flavored and noodles perfectly textured, not too soft or hard. The meats needed a bit of work especially the meatballs. My friend enjoyed her banh mi and said it was sufficient enough to fill her up. The color of everything looked really good and I will probably try it next time! The restaurant accepts credit cards, but there is a 2.5% surcharge so cash preferred! There is also a one stall restroom, very clean and spacious. Great customers service and delicious food! Will be back another day with more friends!!

3.5 Stars for their lunch specials!…read more This was our first visit, and we only ordered a salad and two lunch specials. I would definitely come back to try other items from their regular menu. I found the entrees in the lunch special a little skimpy. These are the dishes we shared: -- Papaya Salad ($12): this is from their regular menu, and I thought it was excellent! Well balanced and so tasty! -- Drunken Noodles w.Beef (Lunch Special $14.95): this came with a Spring Roll and your choice of either Soup or Salad. We chose the Soup, which was a Tom Yum Soup. The Soup was very spicy but the Drunken Noodles were very mild; almost bland. It definitely needed more flavors and wok hei, but still ok. -- Massaman Curry w.Shrimp (Lunch Special $14.95): this came with a Spring Roll and your choice of either Soup or Salad. We chose the Salad, which came with a Peanut sauce. The Salad was actually pretty good; the peanut sauce was slightly sweet. The Massaman Curry w.Shrimp was very weak in flavor and only came with 3 little shrimps. I would suggest you order a different protein and skip the shrimp. Customer service was good; albeit there was nobody to greet us when we first arrived, so we just seated ourselves. But service got better. They didn't rush us to order and let us linger after we finished eating. But after a while, we were asked to leave since they close the restaurant in between the lunch and dinner service (between 3:30-4:30pm). Sorry, we were not aware of this! All in all, a decent first experience. Next time, I'd skip the lunch specials and just order off their regular menu.

I would definitely order the fried rice again. Next time maybe I'll try dining in as their interior look nicely decorated.
