Delicious! We ordered pickup from here after battling allergies and sinus infections. When we went to pick it up we were greeted by the delicious smell of pho. The layout is a bit strange with a counter towards the back where you pay but it's also a small space so they make it work. Our pho took a while. When we called they said 20 minutes but it ended up being about 40 minutes. They did allow us to sit in a booth while we waited, though. Once the food was ready we left with huge smiles as you could just smell how delicious this was going to be. The chicken pho did not disappoint. So much flavor! The broth was incredible. Top Pho was... pretty good, but not exactly pho-nomenal. The broth had a nice depth of flavor, but the fish sauce was a little too overpowering for my taste. The tendon was also disappointing--it came in huge chunks, was tough, and I spent more time wrestling with it than enjoying it. Service could definitely use some work. I mentioned I have a shrimp allergy, but our server still brought me shrimp... and then charged me for it anyway. Not exactly the seafood surprise I was hoping for. Overall, it wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't a place that wowed me either. Decided to try this Pho spot the other day and was not disappointed. Best pho on Long Island - hands down! The broth is insanely rich, clean, and fragrant. It was definitely simmered for hours (you can taste the depth of bone marrow and star anise in every spoonful). Got the #1 Special Combination (rare steak, brisket, tendon, tripe, meatball) and it came out piping hot with a massive plate of fresh basil, bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeños. Also got the chicken banh mi which was very crispy and flavorful. Just a heads up, on the menu, they called it "vietnamese bread". In case you can't find it. Nice space and good service. My own meal I would rate 3 stars because the pho lacked depth of flavor and the chicken satay was terrible. I do not order chicken satay from Vietnamese places, but figured, why not? The peanut sauce was too thick, not tasty and the chicken was dry and seasoned weird. Note to self: only order chicken satay from a Malaysian restaurant. On the other hand, my kids enjoyed their entree of shredded pork over rice. I did not taste it, but it looked good. The other adults enjoyed their entrees of classic pho and seafood pho. We had a person request a non beef broth and they offered a vegetable broth as a substitute. Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! We go here a lot and everything is very good. The ambiance is pretty casual but neat and cute. Light and healthy food. The service is pretty attentive. Normally we start off with the Thai crispy fried chicken which is always solid. Then, I usually get the beef pho with all the fixings but this time I wanted something light and got the shrimp salad. It was delicious! We also got bun Bo xue which is good if you want something a little spicy and fattier. The beef tripe noodle was satisfying as well. We paired the food with some drinks - passion fruit tea and kumquat lemon. We had a happy, healthy meal and left pretty satisfied. This place is growing on me! It's located in a strip mall that gets fairly busy on the weekends because of the Chinese mart next door. The restaurant is not too big, but the decor is clean and inviting. My go-to is the pho nam, but we often get pho with the grilled pork chops on the side as well. The soup isn't super flavorful, but it's nice and clean. The appetizers are pretty standard. Service is decent, even during the busy times. The atmosphere was clean and open. However, probably not the best pho compared to the city or Virginia where I think most of the best phos are with such a large Vietnamese population. The portion was good. On the menu, each type of pho is only one type of beef instead of several unless you get the combo or one other one that only has brisket and flank. But for example if you want tendon you can only get it alone or in the combo. It would be nice if they have more combinations to choose from such as 2 types of beef or 3 types, etc and let diners choose. Also, the broth doesn't taste like traditional beef pho broth. Whenever it's a rainy or cold day outside, I always get myself up to eat something at Top Pho. The food here gives a comforting feeling when you're eating their pho. I decided to get the rice noodle soup with grilled chicken. The soup was flavorful and had a refreshing taste to it. Kept making me want to sip the broth because it has an addictive taste to it. It also came with a side of jalapeños and bean sprouts. Tastes even better with a bit of Sriracha and Hoisin sauce. The grilled chicken was delicious! It's one of my favorites. Something has changed here. On our most recent visit, all the food tasted different. The satay chicken that used to be tender and juicy was dry and chewy. The summer rolls were served with a sauce that was less peanut sauce and more of a thick hoisin. The bun thit nuong tasted decent, but the vermicelli noodles were served hot rather than chilled. We still prefer Top Pho over other places in the area, but it's nearly impossible to find a really good authentic Viet restaurant in Long Island. The prices at Top Pho lean a little towards the pricier end when compared to the prices in Queens & Brooklyn, and the flavor doesn't quite live up to the price differential. I tried the bun bo hue soup as well, and it's honestly not my favorite. It doesn't really pack the lemongrass flavor that I look for in the soup, and it needed a little sauce for sure. The spring rolls were crunchy, & I found them to be tasty. Top Pho is probably one of the cleanest vietnamese restaurants I've been in, and I have to commend them for that. Had Chicken & Pork Spring Roll over Vermicelli, and it was weirdly sweet and seasoned with like anise and maybe five spice - the worst was the "fish sauce", which appeared to be a mix of Mae Ploy sweet sauce mixed with (maybe) a little fish sauce. Everything was over the top sweet, unlike any Vietnamese I've tasted in Vietnam or in the US. My companion felt the same. Decided on top pho for my lunch break. $18 later I got the food and it was cold. I can overlook that. The chicken was rubbery and you too charred, with a distinct taste that the grill it was cooked on has not been cleaned in quite some time. The chicken was covered in hairy fibers. Not sure if this is supposed to be lemongrass but this was extremely off putting. I've never seen that at any other pho restaurants. Only thing that was okay was the rice which is hard to mess up. Top Pho..Pho Shizzle! The crispy squid appetizer was divine. The sweet sauce that accompanied the squid created a perfect marriage between savory and sweet. The squid was lightly breaded and tender. The squid was surprisingly not rubbery at all. The Vietnamese spring rolls were also tasty. It takes a little bit of patience not to devour them as soon as they come out because they were extremely hot. I'd suggest any diner to cut them in half to let them breathe a little bit before consumption. The grilled pork chops over rice were phenomenal and we really enjoyed the smoky flavor. This restaurant is located near the old Hanyang (H&Y Market) and we found it when we were looking for something quick and Asian. Firstly, the service was impeccable. Staff checked on us often asking if we needed anything, waters and drinks came out promptly. The silverware, napkins were sturdy and great quality!
