I like that it isn't a chain restaurant especially since there are so many chains around town. We've eaten at the rock many times. With the restaurant expansion there is adequate seating at most times of the day. There is definitely a lack of parking in uptown unless you want to walk several blocks from a parking deck. So generally we end up eating here when the students are out of school and we can park close by. read more

This is a great place to snag some fast, fresh, and affordable food in Uptown Normal! The falafel items are wonderful and filling, perfect balance of freshly made falafel and veggies. The house hummus is top notch, creamy and authentic. The french fries are surprisingly the best fries in town! Truly excellent crunchy on the outside creamy on the inside, not too greasy, just right amount of salt, the perfect fry! As a veggie enthusiast I cannot offer insight on any meat items, but I have friends who love the burgers. I am gluten-free and this restaurant makes a special effort to provide food that is as safe to eat as can be (from a non-gluten free kitchen). They also have the most amazing dolmades! The service is great, and you often interact with the owners. The place is very clean and brightly lit making it a fun place to hang out. I recommend eating there, gluten-free or not! read more

What a great place to eat. The restaurant has a nice clean and open look. The young man who took our order at the counter was friendly and helpful with questions about different menu items. We were also greeted very warmly by the owners who were working in the kitchen. I ordered the chicken gyro and hummus with veges. My brother ordered a cheeseburger and fries. We both agreed that they were delicious and prepared perfectly. We then tried the baklava (sp?) for dessert. It was fantastic. My brother commented that it's the best he's ever had. I look forward to coming back soon and trying other menu items that looked great as they were brought out of the kitchen. For a quick grab and go meal close to the Marriott (I stay there with some frequency), The Rock is my go to. I usually order a Super Gyro and fries and they haven't let me down yet. Portions are generous and prices are pretty low. Can't get much faster than they are either. It looks like they're expanding--I'll be curious how that changes what the setup and focus of this place is. read more

mmmm, my mouth just waters thinking about heading over to The Rock for lunch. Pretty traditional fare--gyros, burgers, fish sandwich, fries, etc. Each day of the work week has a special associated with it (gyro special one day, chicken sandwich special another, etc.), and there's a super menu with especially large items, like the Super Burger (a pound of deliciousness) and the Super Gyro. You order, take a seat and relax, and they bring your food out to you in about 10 minutes. Though the gyros are great, and what they're known for, I think they might serve up the best burger in B-N. read more
