    Chicken wings.

Too expensive for what you get. I ordered the wings 13.95 for 9. However someone can't count and I only had 8 in my carry out. Chicken livers dinner looked like half the order was missing. 8 livers with fries and salad $16.95. Plus the add 5% for carry out. Won't order again for awhile.

Always fantastic food ... Whether you are getting the fried chicken.. the smash burger.. the pasta or the ribs... You can't find a better place to eat in the area.. service is top-notch from the bartenders to the waitresses... Truly a great night every time you go to Bernardi's... "It's a Bernardi!"

The food and the drinks were great, however we got there roughly at 6:30, we were seated in the back room and by 7:15 they were already picking up chairs from all of the other tables and started vacuuming. We hadn't even gotten our food yet... it appeared like they were so worried about closing that they didn't notice us being there. it really took away from the experience. Side note the restaurant doesn't close until 8:30.

We decided to try this local joint for our weekly pre run carb fest and had an average dining experience. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs as I feel this is a good indicator of overall food quality at Italian restaurants. The pasta was good and the meatballs were of good size and flavor. The meat sauce was ground beef filled, but lacked the flavor that Italian sausage usually provides. Salad was not included with the meal so for an additional $2 I was served a small salad of greens mix. I enjoyed the creamy Italian dressing. My wife ordered the baked mostaccoli, and thought it was also average. Plenty of the same meat sauce topped with melted cheese. The meal was complimented by baked bread which was also good and fresh. Mid range Italian food is very competitive, and bernardi's falls below the midpoint in my opinion. Additionally the price is a bit high compared to the competition, and the portions are slightly smaller. I can tell from the filled bar and waiting area this is a local favorite, just not this local.

The Sunnyland location Bernardis has always been my parents favorite. I dont see a difference, Bernardis locations are all predictably good. Service was good tonight. I had the grilled salmon, my son the lasagna, and my parents had the pot roast special. It was all good, I tried a bite of Sullys Lasagne, Bernardis sauce is really delicious. If you've never tried their fried chicken it is literally some of the best on the planet. Ive had a few of their newer menu items recently- they are trying to branch out and be a little more upscale. Bernardis consistently delivers delicious food.

Great service, polite staff. Cajun shrimp was great, I'd personally avoid anything not pasta on the menu

This restaurant has some of the best, most top-tier authentic Italian food I've ever seen in a chain restaurant.

Palanza's Family Dining - Baked tortellini

    Palanza's Family Dining

    (23 reviews)

Review Visit: December 29th, 2015…read more Palanza's was Plainza's. Palanza's seems to be well-regarded among people I know from the Washington area. With that in mind, I went with a group of friends to try it out one evening. We came. We ate. We left reeking of grease. That just about sums up my experience there. We showed up for dinner and tried a variety of things. We all ordered something different and shared some appetizers. What we all picked off the menu was lost to time. But I do remember chomping down my food and having to tell my mouth that there was indeed some food being consumed since there wasn't much flavor in my sandwich. I can't speak for my friends and I know asking them about their experience today would lead to a lot of "I don't remember"s. So, I am going to chalk it up to maybe having an off day there, either on my behalf or the chefs behalf. Either way, I won't forget the stench of my coat after we left. As soon as we got in my car to leave (it was just Tim and I in my car), I could instantly smell the reek of grease on my coat. It was fairly strong and made me gag a bit as I was taking Tim home. Once I got home, I instantly put my coat in the hamper for immediate cleaning. It's amazing that I don't remember what sandwich I ordered but the heavy grease smell on my coat is a memory that is clear as day. Second chances are something I believe in. I am willing to give Palanza's another go should the opportunity arise.

Great hole in the wall type place. We got an appetizer of the Mozzarella Sticks and wow they were…read moreso good, super stringy cheese I almost choked. Got a salad to start and I was kind of disappointed, lettuce wasn't super fresh and it was very watery. For the main dish I got the baked tortellini, very good although I thought there could have been a little bit more sauce. Service was top notch! Will come back as our family loves coming here.

Review Visit: September 17th, 2014…read more In Central Illinois, there is a fierce battle between local Italian places. La Gondola. Avanti's. Michael's Italian Feast. Not only the trifecta of Italian places but also a battle of personal preference. My family and friends grew up on Avanti's. Others grew up on La Gondola while the rest had Michaels. It seems like once you pick one, you stick to it for life. Bucking that trend, I tried them all and loved them all. Michael's has a smaller but very similar menu to the other places. They offer their version of an Italian sub simply called Mike's Sub. I actually had one today since I was in the area and it was just as good as I remembered. It was served warmed and that amplifies the taste a ton. Avanti's has a restaurant you can sit in while La Gondola and Michael's have areas where you order at a counter and they bring the food to you. While this doesn't impact my review in any way, it is something to keep in mind if you visit. After my initial visit, we popped over to FrozenSpoon for some ice cream. While Michael's has a few locations throughout the Central Illinois area, this one is special in having a local ice cream place as neighbors. Ice cream or not, you can't go wrong with any of the Michael's locations.
