One of my family's favorite restaurants. The food is always delicious and the service will always keep us coming back. We forgot to ask for one of the dishes with no mushrooms and we reordered and paid for a corrected one. The staff checked with us multiple times making sure that they could not just remake it for us. Since it was our mistake, we wanted to make sure we paid for it and I will have it for leftovers since I was fine with how the dish was made. I won't be back to this restaurant. The staff back in the kitchen doesn't use gloves. I saw them grabbing pickles out of the bin with bare hands. Stroking hair with bare hands then picking up food and preparing plates. The environment is family friendly but I'm gonna need more precautions with food handling as cross contamination can occur They also don't wear hair nets. We ordered the cheeseburger and fries. It looked good. I did see one girl with gloves but she didn't change them and touched multiple things. We got delivery while in the area, and the food was quite good and arrived quickly. Gyro was definitely up to expectations and my wife liked the falafel sandwich which was huge - she wished she had actually saved half for later. Babaganoush was not the best I've ever had but still pretty good and served with plenty of warm and tasty pita slices. This restaurant is terrific. I am spending the weekend at the Marriott and spent much time on Yelp trying to find a restaurant for Saturday's dinner. Looks like I came here about 5 years ago so I was looking to try a new to me restaurant. Take a look at their Health Score on their recent inspection. They scored 100% with no violations. If you think that most restaurants would score a 100% you would be very, very wrong. I always check the restaurant's Health Score and have found that even 'good' restaurants usually have at least 4 violations. Reasons I chose The Rock Restaurant and not a new to me restaurant: 1. The 100% Health inspection score. 2. In the mood for a hamburger and they offer 2 sizes. 3. Lots of reviewers mentioned that their french fries are delicious. 4. Proximity to the Marriott. The 8 ounce burger was delicious. The sesame bun was very fresh. As other reviewers noted the french fries were fantastic. I wish we were staying longer so we could go back and try some of the other menu items. read more

The gyro was just elementary - basic grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion. There was ranch on the side. The baklava was one tiny bite for $1.49. Here's a great restaurant in the college area of Normal, IL. It's busy but things move along fast. We stopped here because they have outside tables that are pet friendly and we were traveling with our dog. I had the chicken gyros - came with lettuce, onions and tomatoes with a side of tzatziki sauce. One word - nice! My SO had the garlic chicken and she said it was great. Things are labeled as gluten free, but they are not. Falafel is fried in the same oil as gluten containing items, so not celiac safe. Person at the counter was reassuring me it was gluten free until I said I have Celiac, then he said, "oh, let me check". couldn't answer any questions about seasonings or dressings, so didn't feel safe eating anything. read more

The staff member who took our order had no eye contact, didn't know the menu and was kind of rude. Also, be aware that they charge a 3% "courtesy fee" if you use a charge card. I have not encountered a restaurant that does this in a long time. Finally, when you pay your bill (before you get your food) you are asked to tip the standard amounts 15%, 18%, 20% etc. Be aware that those percentages include the tax you paid, plus the 3% upcharge for using a charge card. Tips should be figured on the cost of your meal only, pre-tax. This is not a good practice in the restaurant world. Food is good, but my gyro had cold French fries mixed in the gyro, even though I didn't order fries. I was imagining the kitchen staff throwing fries into my basket, then fishing them out when they realized I had not ordered them. Ew. read more
