Fantastic and authentic addition to Peoria's strong food scene, us two guys dropped in to see what's going on with one of the highest rated restaurants in the area. Quickly figured out why! The friendly and cozy family feel right from entering to service and simple atmosphere without screens or music reminded me why less provides more. We tried a sandwich and shawarma platter. I'll give the food a 3/5--it's not bad, though if you've had authentic Shawarma overseas, you know the difference. A lot of the people giving 5 stars probably have never had real authentic shawarma to compare it with, so to them this may seem amazing simply because there aren't many better options around here. However, the service is a total 1/5. Every time I visit, the man behind the counter treats you like he has three PhDs in rocket science and you are interrupting his life-saving research just by ordering. If you hesitate for even a second or have a question, he will rudely cut you off, turn his back, and tell you to "let him know when you're done" as if your presence is a waste of his time. We've even been told the oven was "turned off" one minute after he seated a large group right in front of us. I've left swearing I'd never return, but I kept coming back because my kids asked. After the constant delays, and sheer condescension, I'm done. I'd honestly rather eat plain bread than deal with this guy's ego one more time. read more

The lively vibe and timely delivery of freshly cooked ingredients (such as pita--that I should warn you--are served AFTER the meal arrives) were on point. We absolutely LOVED our meal and were even more happy with the reminders of this experience as we snacked on the dessert tub available at checkout. The Chicken Shwarma platter was a flavor bomb! I paired it with the rice and the hummus which was an excellent combination. Service was prompt and the young daughter (I am guessing) of this family owned restaurant took my wife, step son and our order and rang us up like a boss. Seriously, this kid is going places and I asked her to submit her resume to the Department of Education so she could show them how to teach children in public schools such that they actually knew how to read and do math at grade level. The joke went over her head...because she's probably 12 years old. Anyway, my gyro salad was good and my wife enjoyed her vegetarian dish.
