Lovely people, very good food. But no masks. Careless. I'll try again after Covid is conquered.

Review Visit: February 13th, 2018…read more What does the Fox say? Arrroooooooo (in a British Accent)! What does that translate to? It's a bit long-winded, so bear with me. *In a British accent* "Hello, savvy reader. If you love some good British food and are in the central Illinois region, The Fox is right up your alley." "Their entire menu is British-themed and so is the pub. While the pub itself isn't overloaded with British things, you can tell it's got a British vibe while not being too gauche." "The food is delectable. Exquisite." "Mmmm, yes." Wow, the fox had a lot to say! Do I agree with the Fox? Yes. My friends and I came here and loved every bit of it. The service was fantastic and the place felt welcoming and friendly. I ordered the Chipotle Beefeater Brisket and it was phenomenal. We sampled my friends Hummus and while I am not big on hummus, we all agreed it was great. Everyone gushed over how great their food was. Another perfect example that bar/pub food is the best food. I sadly didn't get a ton of photos as I was focused on hanging out with my friends. I will snap a few more the next time I go. Be aware that if you do visit that they have Trivia on Thursdays nights. We tried to come here on one of those nights and it was packed and they suggested we come back another time due to it being too busy. So if you need your Bangers and Mash or Fish and Chips fix and are in the Peoria area, this is the perfect place for you.

I was a little nervous hoping my 17yo picky non celiac son would find something he would like in a gf restaurant. I worried for nothing! He and I ordered the smash burgers and they were exceptional. He didn't even mind the "special sauce" which is amazing because the only thing he usually puts on a burger is salt. The warm chips were great as well. The wife got a "p-dizzle" flat bread. It was SO good. I almost forgot that we ordered cheese bites for an appetizer. They were served with a pineapple medley and a hummus dip. Holy cow were they fantastic! Their menu is quite large and we can't wait to go back. I was also impressed with the prices. Gf food is quite expensive and this place does a nice job offering delicious gf food at a very reasonable price! The service was a tad slow but I think they were short handed so that's totally understandable. All of the staff were extremely nice. And finally, the ambiance. The restaurant is bright and open and well decorated. The seats are very comfortable. Overall very pleased with everything. Just kicking myself for waiting so long to try The Queen of Squash out!

It's great to have fresh, clean, healthy food vs the never ending fried food and burgers. The ambiance is comforting and cozy. Our server, Bianca, was delightful, friendly, and personable. She wasn't rushed, got everything right, and made great cocktails! They were proportioned nicely and tasted great! My mom and I had 3 between the two of us. We got several dishes to try a variety and they were all great! I'd get all of them again. Flavorful and unique! Nothing was bland and all was tasty! Great job!! I'd definitely recommend for both vegetarian and non vegetarian. They have things for both. I really hope the Peoria area supports this establishment because the area desperately needs it. We had a great experience and will be back!

Salaam, everyone!…read more Mention anything Middle Eastern and my friend gets excited. She loves her culture and where she comes from so she gets excited to have meals that are close to home for her. We've talked about trying Jenin Village for awhile but life finds a way to keep everyone busy. But we got lucky and our schedules lined up and we dropped in on a chilly Wednesday afternoon. I told her that she may have to explain some of the menu to me. As culturally diverse as Peoria is, there doesn't seem to be nearly as many Middle Eastern restaurants to try as there are Mexican, Italian, and Chinese... so my knowledge of them is iffy at best. We walked in to an empty restaurant (possible missing the lunch rush) and were quickly seated. I had the pleasure of having the sun in my eyes so I fidgeted with the blinds until I could see properly and stop fidgeting in my seat. Ivonne took the time to explain a few of the menu offerings and what things would taste like. She said she would get super mad if I ordered a burger. Thankfully I was fully on-board for trying something new. That new thing was Beef Shawarma. Ivonne got a mixed platter of their meats that was basically a 3-meat kabob meal. She said the offerings were large and I said I was hungry but boy, did it look like a challenge once the food was placed in front of us. The wait was a bit longer than usual for the restaurant but I assume that is from them cooking everything to order. My first few bites were confusing. It being middle eastern food, I was expecting it to have some spice... some kick... some pizzah (is that how you spell that?). This was 180 the other direction. This was sweet. Like, nutmeg sweet. Once my mind wrapped itself around the idea of sweet meat and rice, I was fully on board. The rice was long grain which was new for me to try. I asked Ivonne if I am supposed to mix the rice and beef together and she said it's however you want. So, I alternated bites of them together and them separate. I didn't have a preference on how I ate it cause it was delicious either way. Ivonne let me try her pita bread and dip and that was also confusing at first. The hummus dip made me think of peanut butter due to the texture but after I was halfway through the pita bread, I was starting to appreciate the flavor and texture. We also ordered water with our meals and that came out in bottled water. Not sure if that's normal here but something to note if you are thirsty. They may charge for additional bottles if you are feeling like a camel? The interior was nice, clean yet somewhat sparse. I am used to ethnic restaurants taking pride in their culture and adorning the walls with things that evoke the feeling of their country. Jenin does the complete opposite and keeps it plain. While it would've been nice to see some Middle Eastern stuff hanging up, it doesn't detract from how the food tastes at all. This isn't the first Middle Eastern place I've ate at and it won't be the last. Ivonne told me about all the places in the Peoria area and we are going to try and visit them all starting in 2024, adulting be damned!
