"The food is delectable. Exquisite." "Mmmm, yes." Wow, the fox had a lot to say! Do I agree with the Fox? Yes. My friends and I came here and loved every bit of it. The service was fantastic and the place felt welcoming and friendly. I ordered the Chipotle Beefeater Brisket and it was phenomenal. We sampled my friends Hummus and while I am not big on hummus, we all agreed it was great. Everyone gushed over how great their food was. Another perfect example that bar/pub food is the best food. I sadly didn't get a ton of photos as I was focused on hanging out with my friends. I will snap a few more the next time I go. Be aware that if you do visit that they have Trivia on Thursdays nights. We tried to come here on one of those nights and it was packed and they suggested we come back another time due to it being too busy. My bf used to come here a lot while living in Peoria so he was excited to bring me. We had a few drinks and the curry fries. Bartending staff were great; friendly, made good suggestions, engaging etc. I knocked a star off because the hostess was actually very abrasive and kind of rude to us. I was very disappointed with Fox Pub and Cafe. I ordered the fish and chips and both were truly not good. The chips were either fried in old oil or fried for way too long. They were an extremely dark brown, hard, and over-salted. The breading on the fish was way too thick and salty and we needed a knife to cut it. The fish itself was tender and flaky. Really not a great meal. I ordered a side of curry for the chips and it was nothing remarkable. I literally got maybe two tablespoons of cole slaw and the same amount of tartar sauce. The staff were discussing how slow the day had been so I'm not sure why they seemed so bored and tired. We had to stop elsewhere to get something to cleanse our pallets to get the taste of the Fox's food out. read more

We were disappointed with food and service. Nothing that bad, accept silverware! Food stuck on tongs of forks. Asked for plastic. Received replacement silverware. Think the silverware is what was the worst! Yuck! Odd part they roll silverware in napkins. We have been here a couple of times. Once for Saturday morning soccer, and another for a trivia night. The food is okay, portions are small, and I feel like most dishes are overpriced. The fries are skinny, some are hard and crunchy, and get cold quickly. The curry sauce is pretty good. Fish n chips had a nice big piece of fish that was really good and crispy. We went to Fox for Trivia Night. Lots of fun! While there I tried the Rueben sandwich with fries. The Rueben was tasty, though the bottom bread was a bit soggy. I loved the fries but wish they were cut a bit bigger. They were so small they were hard to dip in ketchup or ranch. My friend had the cottage pie. It was good, but I think she'll order something else the next time. The sticky toffee pudding was excellent. I've had the real thing several times in England - and like their version better. Located in a strip mall in Peoria; definitely better than what I thought it was going to be. Lots of beers on tap - and they pour a proper Guinness! Whiskey neats are also poured well, which was much appreciated. Large enough space with plenty of seating options; high tops, bar rail and tables. Menu seemed sufficient. I enjoyed the Fish and Chips and my husband had the Tower of London Burger. Fries were good, but gosh they were tiny! Not the portion but the size. Hard to grab really, you know, with adult sized fingers. But that kept me from eating all of them, so I guess that's a plus. Over the recent years there has been growing "shrink -flation"and inflation. The food is still good with smaller portions and the prices are now near high end restaurants. 2 dinners w no salad or side, 2 drinks was over $70 with tax & tip. Service was good outside on a picnic table in the parking lot. Ambiance was good due to the weather. Just beware to take a larger hit when the bill comes. Since no pricing on the drink menu, be sure to awkwardly ask the cost of each. read more

Used to enjoy The Fox. Not anymore. Two forks were so filthy I quit asking for a clean one. No flavor on the patty melt and soggy fries. We came in at lunch time, approx 11:30 on a Wednesday. 2 adults and 2 3yr olds. To start off:: We were offered a high top table or low, we opted for low due to the kiddos. The gentlemen who sat us approached the only low top table which had an elderly man sitting at it waiting for a to go order and he asked the elderly man to move. This honestly broke my heart for the man because he would not have been able to sit at a high chair because he was barely able to move and had a cane. The elderly man even seemed shocked he was asked to move :( Our server was the same gentlemen who sat us. He had given us 4 regular menus and 1 seasonal menu. We had to wait for him to come back to get kids menus (my girls are super little lol. No questioning the kids menu ‍). But I always play this & the lack of napkins up to, you can tell when a server doesn't have children lol. I asked what kind of juice they had for the girls and he informed us he had no idea as he just started a week ago lol. It did take me forever to choose my entree but I went with the Fish Bap with Chili as my side, he chose Shepard's Pie, and the twins got Chicken Tenders with Fries and Mac&Cheese with Applesauce. The Chili came out first and was AMAZINGGGGG!!!!! Seriously probably my favorite chili I've ever eaten!! Even the cup of it was so filling it could be a meal in itself, SO GOOD!!! Our food seemed to take awhile but everything was great when it came out. The twins ate all of their food (which never happens!) and my Fish Bap was amazing!! Ate at the bar with a friend mid week. This place never disappoints. They have a seasonal addition to their regular menu and it's outstanding. I had the tikka masala with shrimp. You can get it with chicken as well. The sauce was perfection. Their regular menu curry and their fish & chips are also excellent. Beer tap selection is maybe the best in town. The bar is clean (no tap fly action here). Staff and service are all around friendly (but not overbearing) and knowledgeable about the menu. Fox Pub is a great place to take guests from out of town or catch up with long time friends. So glad it's here!!! read more

Mike and I enjoyed the British theme of this pub. We started off with Brisket Nachos which was topped with slow cooked brisket, jalapeños, onions, shredded cheese, and cheese sauce. The brisket was a nice topping for the nachos. I had the Fish & Chips and was impressed with how crisp the coating was and how there was good fish (haddock) and fried layer ratio. Very tasty and big! Mike had Cottage Pie that is a different take on the Shepard's pie. Very flavorful and topped with cheese. Overall, good food and enjoyed the atmosphere. read more

Great local pub on the north side of Peoria in a strip mall right of Pioneer Parkway. Well that was our experience two months ago. On a Friday night we were seated and given menus. We then waited for 25 minutes being ignored by the staff at that point it was time to leave. It as almost comical how the waiters ignored us. Just want to know why were were not waited on. The funniest part was when we left the hostess said hope you enjoyed your dinner and have a good night. Felt sorry for her because she was the only one bussing the tables. Something was not right that night, there was no sign of a manager. Will I go back? Maybe or maybe not, there are plenty of Irish restaurants in the Peoria area. read more

I've eaten at the Fox several times before COVID, but yesterday was my first visit since. I've always ordered the sandwich with beef, cheese and horseradish sauce. I've never minded it and thought it to be good but nothing outstanding. I found my OUTSTANDING dish yesterday. I ordered a Ruben and it was delicious. The corned beef was the most tender I've ever eaten. Instead it of slicing it off, they shred it which I think is the difference. I also had the coleslaw which was sweet and not too creamy. As a limited offer I ordered the sweet potato tots. I really loved everything I at there! I can't wait to go back and have another one! read more

My friend took me out for a belated birthday dinner. I asked her to recommend some places that I may have not eaten before. Fox Pub and Cafe was one of her suggestions. After reviewing the Yelp reviews, I decided I'd like to go there. It's a choice I do not regret. The outside looks like the typical strip mall but the inside really does have a pub decor. The lighting is really dim like I see British pubs depicted in the movies. We ordered the queso and chips as a appetizer. It was good but I felt like it was missing an ingredient that stopped it from being great. I thought maybe some jalapenos would be a good addition. I wrestle with myself on what to have a for my main course. At first, I settled with a pulled pork sandwich. However, at the last minute, I chose to have the fish and chips. If I'm going to eat a British pub, the least I can do is have is British dish. It was gamble because I usually do not eat fish. I felt a lot of anticipation building as I took my first bite. Oooooh! The gamble paid off. It was great. The tartar sauce was good too. That is not something I find myself ever saying. I have found most tarter sauce to taste nasty. The fries were delicious too. This place is in the middle of a strip mall. We've been trying to eat here for a while but every time the idea came up they were closed. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Beer selection is fantastic. They have 6 beers on tap that are ALWAYS there. And then they have 3 taps that rotate constantly. We were there 2x in 2 weeks and the pale ale selection had already been changed. I couldn't tell you all the different types of beer they had but from this side of the bar it looked like a pretty massive selection of bottled beers in addition to the 9 taps. Food is homemade by April, the owner. Most recipes are from Mike's mother - her English husband. Fish and chips is a must at an English inspired oub - but to be honest, she makes it with haddock, but I much prefer a softer tasting cod. Still delicious but not my favorite. However, her slow cooked brisket and corned beef is to die for! Both meats are extremely tender and when you get them on a BAP - soft bun - it makes it even better! The bread has the texture of a soft dinner roll - I could eat about half a dozen with some butter and be all good! The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeble about their products. April takes a lot of pride in everything she creates...so if you don't eat something you should probabaly take it to go anyways. So it won't offend her that you didn't finish your meal. Went there for the Liverpool-Southampton game and some traditional British Fish & Chips yesterday around noon. The game was terrific with Liverpool winning as expected, but Southampton shoulda converted one of those close ones and Suarez got the third goal with what appears to me to be a well-orchestrated dive. He's a gold medalist contender in diving at the summer Olympics for sure. Well, the Harp was nice - standard draft and solid as expected - I'm a blonde beer guy, so none of that dark crafted stuff for me. But $5? In Peoria? (Is this the Heights?) Well, I lived in Cali for nigh twenty year and I'll tell ya, either those Brits on the West Coast were kidding me with their hand-dipped, beer-battered, crisp & thin crust, blondish-brown steaming fresh cod and their thick, large chips (like Texas fries) or I'm losing it, but the obviously factory-formed, overly thick crust, battered heavy-with-oil fish was dark and over-cooked, and the soggy American style dark French Fries were hard to take - the stomach started aching right away. A smarter man woulda walked out, but I wanted to watch the football. In after thought I shouldn't have eaten it, but I only had coffee for breakfast and I was starving...so you get the picture. Yep, true to course, my Mexican futbol buddy (who ate the same thing) and I got stomach aches and more (I won't discuss here) soon thereafter. He reminded me that we were in Peoria:) Geez Louise, it was so bad that I thought I was back at the new Donnelly's Pub - they got me a month or so ago with the same venue - yikes - I didn't think it could happen twice in Peoria! My waiter did nothing for me after several complaints, so I left a tip (not). A young waitress told me the owners were English and it's the most popular menu item and everyone compliments them...yadda, yadda, yadda. "Was I eating at one of those inter-galatic spots from Star Wars? "Nope" he reminded me again, "We're in Peoria." Well, Peoria's got some things right, but this ain't one of them. As my buddy also said, "Just because the owner is Mexican, it doesn't mean the Mexican food is authentic." Kurt Vonnegut once said, "A sane person, to an insane society, must appear insane." I guess I am, because I don't know what that stuff was, but it wasn't "Fish & Chips"...at least not the kind they serve in British Pubs on the left coast (or London). Guess I'll go back to that blue-collar American bar where the nice little bar maid puts on an occasional real football game for me when I drop by. Shoulda saved my $30 for the symphony. My sister and I were looking for somewhere new to try. It can be difficult sometimes to find a place that we both can enjoy due to the fact that she is vegan. This place was perfect!!
