Had the meatloaf sandwich recently with tater tots. I really wish parents would stop telling their kids that they should be cooks one day. The tots were decent. The meatloaf was terrible. I'm still trying to figure out how you burn the outside while having the inside be mush. While the size is big, the bread was not the right choice to hold the meat, swipe of mashed potatoes, I assume it was supposed to be fried onion strings & the glob of bbq sauce. This was our second time here. The first visit went off without a hitch, food was good and service equally good. Second time coming back we brought the in-laws from our home town in Arizona. Keep in mind we are new here and excited to embrace this new city and all its food places just like this. It was a Tuesday night and they were busy, not so busy that we had to wait for a table, we got right in. The blond girl that was to be our server came to take our drink order. I was on the fence for a few items so I asked the server, "When the cooks in this place get a moment to themselves to enjoy a dish, which is it they usually get?" She assured me without a doubt it was not the burger I was comparing but the duck reuben. Being a fan of both duck and Reuben's I was like, " oh hell yeah, sign me up". So I replied I'll have the Reuben, mom got meatloaf, dad got the burger, wife got the poke bowl. We had a few drinks enjoyed each other's company and then our appetizers came, the cheese curds!! Holy smokes these were legit the star of the evening! If you go I recommend these! Our food came out after and we began to eat. This is the point it went south! The server all but vanished. Usually you can't get a bite in before your asked how is it? Well we needed silverware, napkins, salt and pepper, basic accoutrements. Nobody came. My Reuben..... BORING!! This was the smallest plate of food I've ever seen. The duck was overcooked and dry, there was not a good ratio of slaw to dressing to duck and it was lacked all the way around. I was hoping to ask for some more dressing to bring some life to it but the server never came. Mom wanted salt and pepper for her meatloaf, but the server never came. Finally I was able to get S&P from a busser! The poke bowl was kinda a joke as well, huge bowl of rice and peas and about 3 or 4 small bits of tuna. It was good but not balanced and completely underwhelming. Folks are boomers so yeah considering mom needed to help meatloaf says a lot. But still no server! Finally she came back with the bill. At which point I had to mention that this was by far the WORST Reuben I have EVER had!! She giggled. I said SERIOUSLY, that was wack AF, and you never came back to check on us so I couldn't even attempt a save by dousing it in dressing! She ignored that and disappeared, yup the shitty Reuben was still there on the bull and nobody cared! Moral of the story, you're gonna gamble here. I would love to try again but when you can get a Reuben at One World that blows it out of the water EVERYTIME for a fraction of the price I would second guess giving your money to this business. I was very disappointed with Thyme Kitchen and Craft Beer. I love restaurants that serve made from scratch food but the food here was bland and not very flavorful. My husband and I ordered the chicken and waffles and pancakes. I love breakfast food but left still feeling hungry despite the large portions. Located in downtown Peoria,this place is not real easy to find due to poor signage in my opinion. We stopped in for a late lunch on a Monday and we were just about the only ones in the restaurant. The hostess seated us at a dirty table so our server noticed and had us switch tables. They have an extension Bourbon list so I started with an Old Fashion. They make theirs with Old Forester bourbon which is not my favorite. I should have asked for something different. My wife was pleased they had a nice Gluten Free menu so she ordered the Bison burger with side salad. I ordered their Smoked Meatloaf sandwich. Our meals were brought out by the chef and he noticed he put croutons on my wife's salad which is a big no-no. He also brought her a turkey sandwich? The server admitted it was her mistake so while I ate my sandwich,my wife waited about 10 minutes for her meal . My sandwich consisted of smoked meatloaf on a hoagie roll topped with mashed potatoes,crispy onions and smokey tomato sauce. It was very tasty but I did not really see or tasted mashed potatoes. When my wife received her Bison burger there was blood from the meat on the plate .not very appetizing! She said the burger tho was very good and cooked medium well. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon while traveling through the area. We sat outside. It wasn't super comfortable but it was fine. The inside was interesting with lots of dead animals hung on the walls (not my jam). The wait staff were all friendly and helpful and made some good suggestions as this was our first time here. I had the meatloaf sandwich. It was fantastic. I got tots for the side and used the spicy ketchup...SOOOO good! I would recommend putting that stuff on everything. One of the other folks got the pasta in a jar. It was also very good. Decent selection of beer; wish they offered the beer in multiple sizes (especially like a 4 or 6 oz size) so I could taste a few different options. What a gem we have here in Peoria with Thyme Kitchen. I've eaten here several times, and wanted to discuss my most recent visit. I recommended Thyme for a business meeting dinner and it was a hit with all of my colleagues. From the time we entered, my colleagues were impressed with the big wall of whisky and the interesting decor. Everyone was impressed with everything about our meal. We chose this hard to locate (small signage) restaurant in Peoria while on our route from St Louis to the Chicago burbs to have a gluten free lunch. It was almost 3pm by the time we arrived. There was one couple eating at the bar but the restaurant was otherwise empty. The hostess was rude and sat us at a dirty table. To her credit, the bartender/waitress came right over and apologized and moved us to a clean table. I explained to her that we chose the restaurant for the gluten friendly menu and she took our order. The chef brought out our food and quickly apologized that he put croutons on my salad but the turkey sandwich wasn't what I ordered either. They said it would be a ten minute wait for my medium well bison burger. While I waited the server brought out my side salad which was smart of her. At least my husband didn't have to eat alone. The manager came by to ask how everything was and we didn't complain because mistakes happen. The bison burger came out well done so I can't explain why there was blood on the plate but that was gross. The actual flavor of the bison burger was delicious and enhanced by the blueberry sauce which I thought complimented the taste very well. Moral of the story is don't arrive between lunch and dinner time when the hostess is snoozing and the chef is too? Thank you for the smart bartender who saved the meal altogether! read more

My husband and I just happened to be in the area and decided to have lunch here a couple weeks ago. I'm a little behind on posting my pictures but the review is still going to be great. Upon walking in we were seated right away, there were quite a few people there but there was still plenty of tables available for a Sunday afternoon. When the waitress seated does she also brought us a large glass bottle of water and two glasses. As you look around the restaurant you notice that there is a loft with more tables and chairs where people are enjoying their lunch. We got the perfect little table, caddy corner right in the corner of the room. It almost felt as if we were the only ones there. We were greeted right away by a waitress and somebody that she was training, both ladies were very sweet. We told her that it was our first time there and she suggested we try and appetizer so we tried the Wisconsin cheese curds, they were beer battered, had white cheddar on the inside, and was served with ranch. They were great! We love going to places and trying different cheese curds and giving it a rating. These are fantastic I would come back just to have them again. For our main entree we both got the fried chicken sandwich. This came with pimento spread, fried onion, chipotle BBQ aioli, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a potato bun. This is a cool place to stop in for lunch. Huge bourbon wall with some unique and tasty mixed drinks. We had the shrimp and grits and the meatloaf. Kids had fish and chips and a burger. Everything was good except my grits could have been creamier and the Brussels sprouts weren't crisp like I like and they were cold by the time they got to the table. But everyone else enjoyed their food. We got the flourless chocolate cake for dessert and it was super yummy. The server was super sweet and helpful and fast! Really cool little spot. Recently attended for a late lunch with a few colleagues, and I have to say we were really impressed. We ordered two appetizers, the smoked wings and the crab cakes. The crab cakes were very good, maybe a little on the thin side, so crispy rather than delicate, but nice nonetheless, full of flavor. The smoked wings were just delicious. Smoky, crispy, a little bit of delicate heat from the dry rub. I don't love dry rubbed wings as a rule, but these were top notch, and I think a sauce might have killed their flavor. For lunch, I had the bison burger with tater tots. I don't think you can go wrong with it. If you've never had bison, it's leaner than beef, but full of flavor. Really good! One of my other colleagues had the meatloaf sandwich. After seeing it, I was jealous. It was MASSIVE! He said it's one of the best meatloafs he's ever had! The inside is kinda cool, lots of reclaimed wood and old, bare brick walls. Their craft beer list was great, and though I didn't have any on this trip, their whiskey menu is amazing! Quick overview: great appetizers (recommend cheese curds, calamari, and wings), slow but friendly service, and great seating both outdoor and indoor. I don't drink so I can only rate the food. I got the Marsala chicken plate and it was a solid 8/10. The chicken was well cooked and juicy but a little overly salted, the mash potatoes was alright, and the corn was my favorite on that dish. I also tried the calamari appetizer which was 10/10 for me, and I don't even like calamari that much. Tried a wing from a friend and it was pretty good and smoky, and I also tried the cheese curds... amazing! Service was nice but slow, so I wouldn't come here in a hurry for food or drinks. I popped in for takeout lunch after recommendation from a friend. The space is eclectic but fun however the immediate eye catcher is the large assortment of craft beers on draft followed by the dozens of brands of bourbon! But... like I said, it was lunch time and I drive a lot so I just grabbed the bison burger and tater tots. The server was welcoming and efficient. I waited for 15 min then left food in hand. The tots were great. Fried and seasoned well. However, the star of the plate, the Buffalo burger, was completely unseasoned. The mayo and blueberry sauce were the only things with tastes. The flavor of the lettuce was overpowering! With Buffalo being such a lean protein you MUST add salt and pepper AT A MINIMUM and there was none. At one point I was rubbing the tots on my preselected bite areas in hope of raising enjoyment! I have tendency to judge all new establishments by their burgers or their wings. These are fundamental dishes that if done poorly, tell me all I need to know about the menu. I would love to come back and try all of the liquid offerings from Thyme... The atmosphere, decor, and overall vibe is very cool...kind of a surprise considering the building exterior and entrance is nondescript. Have you ever had so many animal heads surround you during your lunch or dinner? You may feel like the ones here have the Mona Lisa effect, with their eyes following you wherever you go. This wasn't necessarily unsettling, though, unlike our stomachs at the end of our meal. Thyme Kitchen veers towards an in-the-woods ambience, with the weathered barn wood, plant decor, and a whole range of organic and natural elements. While this interior theme and style promotes quite the personality, the food here was a disappointment. The Asian Tuna Tacos was manifestly dreadful, and hard to understand why it was the top recommendation from our waiter. What constitutes a taco, for instance, is filling...which is what this lacked. An inch cube of tuna with some coleslaw on top is not considered a filling. Don't be fooled by the photo I posted, which makes it seem like these wonton crackers are filled to the brim; they placed the ingredients right on the edge to affect and throw off your perception. Perhaps we needed these leftover wonton crackers for the Deconstructed Duck Tamale, which soon became too overpowering to eat with its richness. A side dish should've been served to balance out the fatty element of the duck, such as a salad, but the crackers were sufficient enough to play this role. The Tuna Poke Bowl was decent and a great thing to order here if you want a heartier meal. The bang bang sauce gave out a bursting spice that you'll feel towards the roof of your mouth, and if you get Tajin on the side it will bring out a tangy and salty flavor combination. Though this menu item was more enjoyable than the rest, all five of us left Thyme Kitchen with an aggressive and severe stomach pain.
