Still new to the area but have been here twice now and the vibes are pretty decent. Servers don't blow you away but they get the job done. The place has indoor and outdoor seating for those beautiful weekends. The food tasted made to order, I had the breakfast burrito which had good seasoning but the salsa helped out with that. Their drink menu is our fav as they have a few good brunch bevs to choose from. Would recommended and come back. We came here for Easter brunch! The staff was very friendly and there was no wait! I really like the interior of the restaurant, it was stylish and fresh. I ordered the Butternut Squash, Kale , & Pepita Tacos which was so good and came with these chips that were seasoned to perfection. I would buy a bag of them if I could! The tacos were a great portion and I felt very healthy eating them. They had some great flavors! My friend ordered the Harrisa Shakshuka which our waitress enthusiastically recommended and my friend says she was not disappointed! The University location always have a full house on Sunday's regardless of what time we go. You may have a little wait time.The Junction City location seems larger and also rather busy with a little wait time during the same time frame. The War Memorial restaurant usually is not as crowded and you usually can get seated right away. The food is cooked just right and ALWAYS fast and hot at all 3 locations. I had to order delivery because I'm in a cast. I ordered a large breakfast to start this day off right. I asked for extra brown, extra crispy hash browns. You know, put some brown in those hash browns. They are barely cooked. The potatoes are white on one side and barely tan on the other. I spent $30 to have breakfast delivered from a nice place. The eggs were good, the bacon good, the pancakes cold and the hash browns not cooked. I'm just waiting anyway, I could have waited for the potatos to be cooked. Amazing breakfast place!! Fantastic, unique menu. I had such a hard time choosing what to order. There was s'mores french toast and churro waffles on the menu! However, I decided to get the lemon berry French toast with a side of bacon. It was all delicious! My only complaint is that there were flies EVERYWHERE. I love Childers! The menu has plenty of options for everyone! I've been here several times and it is my go to spot for brunch or lunch. Anytime my husband asks where I want to go... it's usually here . Lol. It is child friendly. My friend's daughter always gets the "teddy bear pancakes" so cute... comes with chocolate chips, whipped cream, and maraschino cherries. The food is consistently good! Service can be hit or miss... sometimes I feel like they are not very attentive and other times they are. Today wasn't terribly busy (compared to other days I've been) and more than one person in my group pointed out their dissatisfaction with the service. Service was also very slow which didn't make sense because it wasn't very busy! With this being said, the staff seems to usually be very nice. Decor is on point! Love all of the greenery inside! They have a ton of drink options... caffeinated beverages, alcoholic beverages, teas, etc... I seem to always order an iced almond milk miel from here - this seems to vary in flavor, but for the most part good (I mean I get it almost every time I'm here). My current obsession is the broccoli bacon Gouda omelet... sooo flavorful and filling! It comes with a side and bread of your choice. I've had several other items off the menu... BREAKFAST: Chilaquiles -LOVE this, but big enough to share with another person... can't finish on my own. Corned beef hash - love this as well! Diablo Benedict - nice variation from a normal bene. Peoria's best breakfast -can't go wrong with this... has all the breakfast staples. Breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel- prob one of my favorites! Chicken & waffles - need I say more?! Came here while visiting friends who live locally. I love breakfast foods, so I never pass up a brunch/breakfast invite. Our pals informed us right off the bat that this place was "hit or miss". Our experience was clearly a miss. Our table of 4 was seated pretty quickly despite the busy line of large parties at the door. First impression: our table was wobbly. Like dangerously so when we all ordered coffee. To make room at the table, I moved all the caddies up on the ledge. It was clear that the staff cleaned around these when wiping down the table. There was crumbs, sticky residue and pieces of paper littered behind the caddies. Gross. Our server was pleasant enough. Seemed competent, but nothing stood out as excellent. Food came. Not even our plates were hot, let alone the food being even remotely warm. I'm not talking like warm it sat in the pass window for a few extra minutes, I mean room temperature. I ordered the lox Benedict. I know, the lox wouldn't be warm by any means, but the muffin, egg, and hollandaise wasn't even warm, let alone the plate. What? I thought maybe it was just me, I order Benedicts a lot and know they can be temperamental. My husband ordered the skillet and that wasn't even warm either. I kind of picked up on that when the expo that dropped it off literally grabbed the cast iron skillet handle to put the dish on the table. Our friends meals were also room temperature. Peoria is lucky to have numerous truly great eateries for a city our size, Childers may be your best bet for breakfast. Despite be swamped our waitress was quick and friendly. Went to the Childers Junction City location for breakfast. Beautiful location with ample, close parking. Seated quickly and order taken. Waitress was attentive and kept the coffee full. checked in and we had a wait which is fine. They had SEVERAL open tables that were located outside away from any entrance so nothing would have been blocked. when asked they would not tell us why they wouldn't move the tables together. They did not give us two high chairs after asking multiple times. Again no explanation. They wouldn't even give up a time frame of how long our wait would be (which was a very long time). The second we were seated they tried to place our orders before we could even sit down. The food that they brought to our table wasn't even ours and that is making the wait even longer with 3 kids. we had to get car seats from the vehicle just to set them on the dirty floor. To top it off, they never apologized for the mistakes and didn't even take anything off the bill. FYI the food came out an our after ordering and was cold. We have been here several times and this the worst experience by far. Do not go here. read more
