Baked Egg Dish with regular bagel and veggie cream cheese
Linda F.

Whenever I visit Peoria I stop by One World for breakfast and meet up with my former Mother-In-Law. It's our favorite place to meet. We always order the same thing. It used to be called Eggs One World many years ago. Now it's called Baked Egg Dish. We omit the potatoes. I get the regular bagel and she gets the whole wheat bagel. We both got veggie cream cheese. I believe they make their cream cheese. This is a delicious and filling dish. The drip coffee was ok. I wish they still offered the carafe of coffee. Service was very good. She has worked here 13 years. It's a cute restaurant with lots of wall murals.

Spinach Salad with Chicken!!! Very Good!!!

Coffee and French Toast bake. The coffee was good and the French Toast bake was uniquely good. It was interesting eating it with a fork, but it was better than I expected. The staff was friendly, and this place seems to be a popular place in Peoria. The prices were reasonable, too.

The food and service was delicious! Highly recommend the Thai Chicken Pizza. The Reuben and chicken tenders were also great!

I had the chicken Cajun wrap and upgraded my side to Mac n cheese. Everything was really good! What I don't like that consistently happens here is they do an up charge for any thing they can think of. For the wrap, it was $2.50 extra for breaded chicken versus grilled. No extra meat though. Why are you charging me extra for breading? I said something because I wasn't expecting a charge and they just double downed on it. Why not create a better customer experience and waive the charge since I was not warned and it absolutely makes no sense. The mac and cheese is $2.50 extra and I don't get how this is more costly than their other sides. It was also a small portion. The food is good and the service is friendly but poor management practices.

Review Visit: January 26th, 2012 One World is out of this world. Think of your local town or area. Now think of a place where young hip people go. Now think of menu items that are unique and around $10. Are you imagining a place or something similar? If so, that is what One World is like. That's not a bad thing by any means. That's just how One World feels when you visit. Matt, his friend, Tim, Kim and myself descended upon One World for dinner on this mid-winter evening. The parking for One World and the surrounding area is rather limited. There was parking along the street but I think that is gone now. So, your best bet is to park across the street at CampusTown and play Frogger as you try to cross the worst intersection in Peoria. I had heard that One World has a hipster/snobbish vibe to it and upon entering, I definitely felt it. It's not an unwelcome feeling by any means but one that is impossible to not feel. We were seated at a table and I was instantly distracted by the decor of the place. Our table was against the wall and that was covered in a painting from top to bottom, side to side. This easily distracted me throughout the meal as I tried to take it all in and see all the details. A futile attempt but attempted nonetheless. Since I've been here quite a few times, I will be talking in general for the next little bit. The menu here is unique as One World itself. It seems that every time I've come here, the menu has changed or adjusted in some way. They even have a menu for vegans or gluten-sensitive people. Now, as for the offerings on the menu, they do have some standard items you can find at most restaurants but they also have a lot of unique or specialty things that seem unique to One World. Instead of writing paragraphs about their food offerings, check their website below to view their menus. Each time I've come here, the hipster ambience has been a part of the experience. I'm not sure if that was their goal when opening the place but it has definitely stuck. What also hasn't changed is the deliciousness of their food. That keeps my once-a-year visit exciting as I know the consistence will be the same each time. One World, while a bit pricey and having a unique atmosphere, is well worth playing Frogger for. Just be careful crossing the terrible intersection.

I want to try new restaurants for brunch when I'm in the area so started with this place and it did not disappoint. The chicken and waffles were really good. The chicken was cooked extra crispy just like I like it without me requesting it! And the gravy was nice and flavorful! The service was great! Was there on a Sunday around 9:30am and it wasn't busy at all. The noise level was moderate. There is parking on the street and a parking lot in the back. Overall, I enjoyed my brunch and I will be back next time I'm in the area.

Being a waitress in my 20's, I know how a big party can be a struggle. The reason I picked Thyme was due to some dietary restrictions. Thyme serves all. I recommend Thyme for business meeting lunches and dinners. Make a reservation ahead of time so they can accommodate your needs. Love to see old buildings brought back to life, Thyme, in the old Sealtest building, sits in the warehouse district of downtown Peoria. The eclectic atmosphere is inviting. The food is traditional yet exotic, yet farm to table, yet mysterious! We eat with our eyes, then smell, then taste. Good job Thyme!

Keep in mind we are new here and excited to embrace this new city and all its food places just like this. It was a Tuesday night and they were busy, not so busy that we had to wait for a table, we got right in. The blond girl that was to be our server came to take our drink order. I was on the fence for a few items so I asked the server, "When the cooks in this place get a moment to themselves to enjoy a dish, which is it they usually get?" She assured me without a doubt it was not the burger I was comparing but the duck reuben. Being a fan of both duck and Reuben's I was like, " oh hell yeah, sign me up". So I replied I'll have the Reuben, mom got meatloaf, dad got the burger, wife got the poke bowl. We had a few drinks enjoyed each other's company and then our appetizers came, the cheese curds!! Holy smokes these were legit the star of the evening! If you go I recommend these! Our food came out after and we began to eat. This is the point it went south! The server all but vanished. Usually you can't get a bite in before your asked how is it? Well we needed silverware, napkins, salt and pepper, basic accoutrements. Nobody came. My Reuben..... BORING!! This was the smallest plate of food I've ever seen. The duck was overcooked and dry, there was not a good ratio of slaw to dressing to duck and it was lacked all the way around. I was hoping to ask for some more dressing to bring some life to it but the server never came. Mom wanted salt and pepper for her meatloaf, but the server never came. Finally I was able to get S&P from a busser! The poke bowl was kinda a joke as well, huge bowl of rice and peas and about 3 or 4 small bits of tuna. It was good but not balanced and completely underwhelming. Folks are boomers so yeah considering mom needed to help meatloaf says a lot. But still no server! Finally she came back with the bill. At which point I had to mention that this was by far the WORST Reuben I have EVER had!! She giggled. I said SERIOUSLY, that was wack AF, and you never came back to check on us so I couldn't even attempt a save by dousing it in dressing! She ignored that and disappeared, yup the shitty Reuben was still there on the bull and nobody cared! Moral of the story, you're gonna gamble here. I would love to try again but when you can get a Reuben at One World that blows it out of the water EVERYTIME for a fraction of the price I would second guess giving your money to this business. Bummer, I love the building, I love the ice cream factory throw back! And the ambience is super nice! Service and portioning need a lot more investigation. Hey owner this is your queue!! Make a positive change here.

Not real busy, but I did notice that there seemed to be several "Door Dash" pickups while we ate dinner. We had good service. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered 1/2 rack ribs (4 stars), 1/2lb Brisket (3 1/2 stars), Brunswick stew (4 1/2 starts), and Chili Con Carnie (5 stars). The house made barbecue sauce was the highlight of the meal (5 Stars). The ribs were very good and fell off the bone. The sauce made them exceptional. Brisket was tasty, but a little dry for my wife's liking. In hindsight, we probably should have ordered the brisket "chopped". The waitress indicated that the "chopped" brisket was more "fatty". The Chili Con Carnie was very very good. Not something that you see at a Barbeque place often. I highly recommend. The key lime pie was very tasty and better than what you get at most places. Although not quite exceptional. Worth a try though. Overall, we liked the Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern. Great location and lots of character. Very good ribs, excellent homemade barbeque sauce.

This place seem to have really good from scratch cooking methods and was able to accommodate our crazy allergies. Even at lunch, there was a lot of mood lighting and it was pretty dark. They had a lot of antiques and interesting furniture and decorations. As a family with young kids, I do wish they didn't see us next to the naked bodies in the artwork. It was very distracting for one of my kiddos during lunch. We were helped pretty quickly, but it did take a long time to get our food. Our food was outstanding. Everything was from scratch and it tasted really good. The baby really enjoyed it. This sweet potato fries are amazing. I was confused why the restaurant was so empty but perhaps it's because it takes so long to get your food? Or possibly Peoria I just can't support a nice restaurant like that. I was disappointed that I couldn't eat off the dinner menu. I was really looking forward to a few of the things on that menu. Perhaps next time we can get takeout so the kids won't get so antsy and try some of the dinner menu. Thank you hearth for a lovely lunch that was safe for our family!

Is Main Street a mainstay?…read more Word-of-mouth brought me and my dad to trying this place out on a cold and blustery Saturday morning. He had heard good things and I had heard the same so we figured to see what we thought of it. It wasn't too busy when we arrived and we were told to take a booth to our right. We sat down to a half-full but bustling restaurant. We got our menus and drinks promptly and started poring over the menu. My dad went with his usual country fried steak skillet-style meal and I went with a basic stack of pancakes and bacon. The vibe of the place was a generic blend of diner and family restaurant. Nothing really stood out to me that was unique besides this US Veterans table we were next to. I didn't get to snap a photo as they just cleaned it off and were about to sit down another group of people that just walked in. The waitress brought out our food and accidentally brought us a muffin instead of my bacon but was super quick to swap the two. Looking at my food and the price I paid and looking at my dad's food and the price he paid, I was instantly jealous he got so much more food for about the same price. The pancakes were large and plentiful compared to some places I've been and the bacon were long strips and not shriveled up and almost cooked too long. So why the mid rating? The waitress and staff overall weren't all that friendly. They weren't unpleasant by any means but the friendly chatting and banter you normally get at a restaurant was lacking here. There didn't seem to be a lot of mingling and cohesion to the staff that you see at most other restaurants. It was weird and if not a bit mechanical feeling. I'm not the most extroverted of people but a little bit of banter or chatting with the server is usually a plus. But most importantly is the food. How was it? Serviceable. The pancakes, even with the butter spread on it and plenty of syrup, were lacking a big punch of wow. Granted, it's just pancakes but I'd prefer to eat pancakes at a restaurant that don't feel like something I can make at home. The bacon was super tasty though. Just a bit disappointing that 3 strips were $3.99. My pops said he enjoyed his meal but it wasn't anything to write home about. I did try a small chunk of his country fried steak and it was decent, if not a bit overly crunchy/burnt on the steak portion. Overall, not a bad time with my dad but I just wish my meal wasn't lacking that punch for $12. I'd definitely come back and try a lunch item to see if that provides the oomph that eating out provides versus eating at home.

Review Visit: November 11th, 2014…read more Room and Board in this castle is forever "No Vacancy". Nestled on the corner of a random street in Peoria, you would almost never know this place was here unless you were told about it or randomly drove down the right street. The only way I learned about this place is when I went to pick up my friend Tim one day and accidentally drove a block too far past his house. Tim told me he had been there before and it was pretty good. He said he walked there a few times to get food. I felt betrayed. I felt left out in the cold. As the feeling of betrayal faded, we made plans to go one night. It also happened to be the night Tim was moving. Sometimes we aren't great at planning stuff. We strolled in once we got most of the stuff packed up and loaded in our vehicles. We were greeted by a small yet cozy bar with seating that was just enough for the area. It held maybe 15 comfortably before it would start to feel packed. The bartender told us to take a seat anywhere and she would bring us a menu. In talking with people about Castle's and reading up on it from local online articles, this place is known for it's cheese. We knew that going in, so we ordered some crackers and cheese. This may be the first and only place that serves Ritz-style crackers to go along with their legendary cheese. There is always some hesitation when you are about to try something a place is well-known for. That happened here. Tim and his brother wasted no time digging in to the cheese and crackers. I grabbed my cracker and contemplated on how I was going to dip it, how much I was going to scoop and how big of a bite I was going to take. Okay, maybe that didn't happen but I did take that first bite rather slowly as I wanted to fully dedicate my taste buds to what I was about to experience. The cheese was good. I can see why people raved about it. It had a bit of that "made with love" added to it that your grandma's cookies also have. And before I knew it, the cheese and crackers were gone and the food we ordered was in front of us. I don't remember exactly what I ordered (looks like a pulled pork?) but I remember thinking it was pretty standard bar food, which is a compliment in my book. Bar food is cheap, usually 150% unhealthy for you, and full of flavor and deliciousness. Castle's Patio Inn was that. The fries were fries. Nothing fancy but something that I bet would be good dipped in the cheese. We didn't really get to experience the bar part of Castle's but that is totally fine. You can come here and sit at the bar and converse with the bartender about life's many issues or you can snag a table with your family for some cheap bar food and some exquisite cheese. Americans.
