    Always spotless inside and out

This place is wonderful. Always clean. Family owned and operated so you're helping your local community by eating here. My favorite is the homemade tenderloin sandwich. That's if you don't t try of the daily specials like meatloaf or half a fried chicken . If you eat too much, then get a slice of pie to go for later. You won't regret it.

Ordered a country fried stake, not very good. Kinda dry, the crust fell off the meat. The eggs were not done, runny whites.

Just had coffee and muffin. The food was great and service at the window was great. Don't know about the ambience--didn't go in.

It looked promising when we walked in and the decor was so cute with license plates and stoplights. It looked promising when the wait staff were very nice and delivered an extensive menu. That's where promising ended. I ordered mozzarella sticks with marinara, a dinner salad and a side of cottage cheese. Pretty simple, right? The waitress asked what I wanted on the salad??? I said hard boiled egg, tomatoes, cucumber, whatever vegetables they had. She sort of shook her head as if she did not know what veggies they had. I ordered a side of blue cheese dressing. Mother in law ordered a grilled chicken salad. Mozzarella sticks took 25 minutes? I actually had to leave to get our laundry caus we were waiting so long. Came back to lukewarm NASTY mozzarella sticks that we did not finish. The marinara was underwhelming and warmer than the cheese sticks. Gross. Then we wait another 10-15 minutes wondering where the heck our simple salads are. The staff would not make eye contact. We kept looking for someone who would check our order and gave up. Finally after 45 min of waiting we get our "salads" YUCK. Mine we the tiniest bowl of white / pale green iceberg lettuce. A piece of white onion. A small plastic container of dressing sat on top of the sad lettuce. THAT WAS IT. Where are the vegetables I asked for? I look at the salad my MIL got and THERE was my hard boiled egg. There were the chopped vegetables. Luckily she offered to share her egg and vegetables with me. My salad was NASTY. She did not like hers, it was covered in melted cheese. Only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the waitresses were very nice. It wasn't their fault the kitchen staff can't make salad.

The service and food arrival was lighting fast, which is a tell tale sign of poor food. The omelet we got was swimming in grease/oil. It was mostly cheese and had very little else. The coffee is unremarkable. My scramble eggs were unseasoned and not fluffy. Skip this joint if you can.

This place seem to have really good from scratch cooking methods and was able to accommodate our crazy allergies. Even at lunch, there was a lot of mood lighting and it was pretty dark. They had a lot of antiques and interesting furniture and decorations. As a family with young kids, I do wish they didn't see us next to the naked bodies in the artwork. It was very distracting for one of my kiddos during lunch. We were helped pretty quickly, but it did take a long time to get our food. Our food was outstanding. Everything was from scratch and it tasted really good. The baby really enjoyed it. This sweet potato fries are amazing. I was confused why the restaurant was so empty but perhaps it's because it takes so long to get your food? Or possibly Peoria I just can't support a nice restaurant like that. I was disappointed that I couldn't eat off the dinner menu. I was really looking forward to a few of the things on that menu. Perhaps next time we can get takeout so the kids won't get so antsy and try some of the dinner menu. Thank you hearth for a lovely lunch that was safe for our family!

Got a salad to start and I was kind of disappointed, lettuce wasn't super fresh and it was very watery. Review Visit: December 29th, 2015…read more Palanza's was Plainza's. Palanza's seems to be well-regarded among people I know from the Washington area. With that in mind, I went with a group of friends to try it out one evening. We came. We ate. We left reeking of grease. That just about sums up my experience there. We showed up for dinner and tried a variety of things. We all ordered something different and shared some appetizers. What we all picked off the menu was lost to time. But I do remember chomping down my food and having to tell my mouth that there was indeed some food being consumed since there wasn't much flavor in my sandwich. I can't speak for my friends and I know asking them about their experience today would lead to a lot of "I don't remember"s. So, I am going to chalk it up to maybe having an off day there, either on my behalf or the chefs behalf. Either way, I won't forget the stench of my coat after we left. As soon as we got in my car to leave (it was just Tim and I in my car), I could instantly smell the reek of grease on my coat. It was fairly strong and made me gag a bit as I was taking Tim home. Once I got home, I instantly put my coat in the hamper for immediate cleaning. It's amazing that I don't remember what sandwich I ordered but the heavy grease smell on my coat is a memory that is clear as day. Second chances are something I believe in. I am willing to give Palanza's another go should the opportunity arise.

I lived in Chicago for eight years, and this is easily one of the top five steaks I've had, consistently. The entire menu is solid, the staff is genuinely friendly, and the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance. A Peoria Heights Institution -- My Favorite Table in the World…read more I've been coming to Jim's Bistro on Prospect Road for years, and I honestly cannot imagine the Peoria dining scene without it. The Comfort family has been doing this for over 50 years, and every single visit reminds me why longevity like that is earned, not given. Let me start with the food, because it deserves its own paragraph. The dry-aged steaks, cut in-house, are simply the best in the area -- and I say that as someone who has tried them all. Whether it's a perfectly prepared filet, a juicy lamb chop, or one of their famous 10 oz. steak burgers (the Bleu Burger is my personal obsession), every dish comes out exactly right. The seafood ravioli appetizer is a must-order, the beer cheese soup is legendary, and the Caesar salad never misses. If you come on a Sunday, do not leave without trying the fried chicken -- it is the best Sunday dinner in the Peoria area, full stop. The service here is consistently warm and attentive. The staff clearly takes pride in what they do, and it shows in the timing, the recommendations, and the little touches that make a dinner feel like an event. I've brought family, friends, dates, and colleagues here, and every single group has walked out raving. And the atmosphere! You can choose between the elegant indoor dining room or the lovely outdoor patio -- both are wonderful. On a warm evening, there's nothing better than sitting outside on Prospect Road with a glass from their extensive wine list, taking your time with a perfectly cooked steak. Jim's Bistro isn't just a restaurant to me -- it's a tradition. It's where I go to celebrate, to unwind, and to remember that truly great food never goes out of style. If you haven't been, you are missing out on something special. If you have been, you already know exactly what I'm talking about. See you at the next table.
