Bucky(great guy and stellar waiter!) took great care of us. we have some dietary preferences that we never impose on a place. we know our way around a menu and what we can and can't do. they really don't like tinkering with the dishes as they believe they are perfect the way they are(and they are right). however, the kitchen was gracious enough to do one of their pizzas without fresh motz and added beautiful heirloom tomatoes. we both agreed, Dave Portnoy would of gave it a 10...incredible!! the carrot appetizer as insane...bread perfect...everything was amazing. ambiance was perfect, lit dimly but not too much. glass/china was beautiful and looking at the open kitchen was soooo cool!! Bucky even brought out two glasses of Sauternes to help celebrate the occasion and made my GF's heart melt. every staff that touched the table was so nice and personable. thanks again for the amazing night!! couldn't of been better!!! read more

The food at this place was killer! The patio and the weather today weather was a perfect combo! We got the breakfast platter and the amazing confit potatoes, and the pork burger with fried egg. Both dishes were very good, so so good! The bacon was super nice, the mustard on the burger was ridiculously yummy. Did I mention those confit potatoes? Haha yeah I did, they were, off the chain, a dill garnish and some orange aioli that set it off!! The inside although we didn't spend much time inside was super cute, and has that riverfront done well vibe! A place you want to be in! This would have been 5 stars BUT The 18$ Bloody Mary! This was a TRAVESTY! It reads so well on paper....... Then you get it, it was the most flaccid Bloody Mary I have EVER had! It was basically a tomato juice and possibly maybe somewhere in there was any hint of some vodka, not the vodka that it advertised. The weak ass 4 little tiny pieces of prosciutto and cheese was a sad excuse for the oversold garnish. If the food wasn't as good as it was, this place would have gotten a 3 stars for overall. Note to the owner: Please revamp this ASAP! There's a huge culture behind a solid Bloody Mary and it's not hard to perfect one. It needs spice and life and it was just sad. Ok back to the review... Always love going to Ardor Bakery!! Today we went during the farmers market & we were quickly welcomed & able to sit outside on the patio. Quickly, our server came by & got us started on some drinks. I had the oat milk draft latte (which I've ordered to go multiple times) & it remains my favorite drink in Peoria! We got the maple breakfast sandwich with bacon added & it was the perfect amount of crispy & flavorful. We got two bakery items to share which were also yummy! This is a place where passion for food meets a passion for cultivating an experience. Restaurants like Ardor are hard to come by in food meccas like New York or Chicago ... so you can say I was surprised in the best way possible when I found it in Peoria, Illinois. No food was bad. All of it was excellent and unique. Zeke (the head chef) just knows how to make good food. I would give some recommendations, but it seems like they change the menu based on what's in season. Great food and service too. We asked to be seated outside. Our server recognized that the salad didn't serve with Parmesan on the side so she helped swap it out right away. The sourdough was indeed very good, soft on the inside, crunchy out. Butter was whipped and light. We thought the pizza was going to be small but it was enough to feed the kids and me. The salad was actually really good, unique sprouts and flavors but not too overwhelming. The shaved parm was a very good balance. The bakery had good options. If you're dining as a couple, I'd recommend ordering 2-3 side dishes, one main course (meat) to share, and absolutely saving room for dessert. The pastries are consistently outstanding. My favorites are the Lemon Danish, the Morning Muffin, and the Chocolate Chip Cookie--they're worth the trip on their own. The cocktails are just as impressive. Honestly, I've never had any issues before with this place. Food is delicious and service has always been amazing. Last Friday,4/18, we had a reservation at 5pm. We didn't leave until almost 730pm because we had to wait for the porterhouse for an hour. We kept waiting and when it finally arrived, it was the wrong order. We were told that it would take another 2 mins to get the right order. 15mins later, still no porterhouse. When we finally got it, we took couple of bites and had to pack it to go because we had a toddler with us who was getting cranky. Although we were given free appetizer and got credited for 2 drinks, the amount of time we wasted waiting for our food was ridiculous. When we got there, there were only a few customers so not sure what happened. Waiter had forgotten one drink, we had to ask for it. Overall, I'd give it 2 stars because of the service. read more

I came to dine in-house on a busy weekend. The restaurant itself is very beautiful with exposed brick and modern aesthetic, the time to be seated was also reasonable I was with a group and got assorted items and appetizers, the menu is medium sized and they have specific items in each category. I would suggest checking the menu before your visit to see if anything sounds good. We got some bread which was served with butter and was fantastic a few pizzas and a salad all were good. There were some specialty drinks that I was not able to try but all sounded really delicious. Don't let the name fool you. This is more than a bread shop. It's a nice bistro restaurant with a unique menu. There is a take-out bakery side, with pastry and bread that looked absolutely amazing. We ate Sunday brunch in the restaurant side. It was very busy, so I was happy we made a reservation. I had the steak and egg sandwich with horseradish aioli. It was not what I expected when our server delivered it, because the steak was chopped up (almost like a pulled pork consistency). It also had a red cabbage slaw on it, which was another pleasant surprise. It was delicious. I ate it with a knife and fork, because it was a bit messy. My friends had different versions of the breakfast platter. One asked for eggs over medium (they actually came over easy) and the bacon crispy. The bacon is very sweet and sticky (at least when cooked crispy). My other friend ordered scrambled eggs with avocado. Both got the potato terrine. It sounded better than it tasted. They both loved the sourdough toast. I tried to order one of the large chocolate chip and rye cookies to take away, but they had already run out. The restaurant has a trendy vibe and uses the space well for the bakery and restaurant. My biggest disappointment was that they did not bring our food at the same time. My sandwich and their potato terrines came out several minutes before their platters. That always makes things awkward because I sit there waiting for their food to arrive, and they feel bad that my food is getting cold while we wait. But We Who Enjoy Mocktails more out of necessity than pure interest seek a cocktail experience, not a large glass of something, even if that something is as tasty as what you're offering. Can I rate this more than 5? I have great ardor for this gem in Peoria. I have been to brunch, dinner, cocktails, and a wine dinner and all have been 5 stars. From the service to atmosphere to the food I would rate this as one of my favorite spots in the world! I remember getting coffee on war memorial to following them to a small spot next door to seeing this whole operation and it is something to be proud of. Drinks were fantastic and the service was great. Back downstairs for dinner. It's a shared plate style eating experience. Even tough one dairy allergy they were able to accommodate. I was a little worried because there was a lot of cheese and butter on the menu. The winter greens salad was simple but really tasty. I loved the kohlrabi, it was very rustic and delicious. Ambiance: The ambiance was nice. I enjoyed the art on the walls and the smell of wood in the air. The restaurant felt both coz and fun upon entry. Service: The service was lacking for me. The waitress could not provide suggestions for dinner and was otherwise very unaccommodating. For example, the restaurant is a bakery and known for their bread. We asked for warm bread. The waitress told us this was not available. Later in the meal we noticed the table next to us was served toasted bread as an appetizer. The experience continued like this for the remainder of the meal. We asked for steak cooked medium and without hesitation the waitress told us no. It was a night of no's. No effort. No empathy. No interest. Food: We were quickly turned off of our meal due to the service above but made every effort to give the food a fair chance. The agnolotti was delicious. Highly recommend. The lamb dish was poorly executed. It was a sea of large dry pasta above a small amount of hidden braised lamb. The taste of the lamb itself was also lackluster. We initially wanted the steak however we decided to not order this dish as our faith in the restaurant was quickly fading. Instead we chose the pizza thinking it would be an easy win. The dough was doughy and could have used a bit longer in the oven. Sadly this was not a great experience and in some respects comically bad. Nonetheless I can see this restaurant has the potential for greatness, albeit a dud at present. read more
