I do not frequent Panera bread. It is usually about a year in between visits. Whenever I think of Panera I wonder why it has been so long since I have been to one? Then I visit one. Then I realize that Panera is really not my bag. If you have been to one Panera Bread then you have been to them all in my humble opinion. They do have good food and it is relatively healthy compared to many chains. The service is usually pretty good too. This place is no exception to this rule. However I do not feel that it is a good enough value for me to become a fan or a regular. I personally feel that what you get is not quite what you pay for. I usually love Panera bread but at this location they don't have it together. I came in to order the pick 2 and the lady at the register was trying to add on other charges. I then switched it to a Baja Bowl "whole" and she tried charging me $18+ and on the menu it's $12.59 without tax. I asked for a manager to come help because the lady at the register was telling me this price is correct and it didn't make since. The manager came and rung up the meal to the correct price which was $14 and change When I got my meal I was disappointed on the portions of this location. I don't know if it was because I asked for a manager or if it comes like this normally but these bowls are not worth the money spent. I ate the food at the location and left hungry. Never go through the drive thru. I have never had this much a problem of a mess with any company. I ordered it online, which will never happen again. The only part they had right was sauce on the side. Thank God because the sauce tasted terrible. I didn't get bread or chip in the bag either. I would definitely not go here. Very dirty restaurant. Sticky floors. Gross bathrooms. The food was okish - but one wonders given how filthy the restaurant is kept.

It took 25 minutes to get through the drive thru. You need to consider asking people to pull ahead when they order so much that you can't get it ready and out within a couple of minutes. I was late to work and couldn't even pull out of the drive thru to get out. If it is like this again I will be canceling my drink membership because that was ridiculous. My wife and I had lunch at Panera a few days ago. We rarely get to spend time together on Saturday so we were having a great time until we decided to go to Panera for lunch. We were met with the most abysmal customer service we have ever witnessed. The cashier whose name is Asya was a rude, nasty piece of work. As my wife was giving her order Asya gave her this look of derision that deserved a smack in the face. Her initial look of derision devolved into a look and attitude of downright disgust with our presence. My wife and I are in our 60's and everyone mentioned in this post is African American so race is not the issue. I believe ageism is the issue here. Miss Asya continued to look down her nose at my wife showing her impatience by her body language, and giggling with the Panera employee standing next to her who was not wearing any badge that we noticed. When I confronted Asya about her attitude, she took an adversarial stance and snapped back at me that she didn't know what I was talking about, and did I still want to order or what? If she lives to be our age, may this day come back to her tenfold. read more

Doors unlocked at 4:30 pm today but staff was chasing customers back out. Staff stated all orders had to be done on-line or through the drive through. Went through drive through and wanted to eat at the outside tables. All were FILTHY! Not just filthy from a guest or two but so filthy that the whole area needs scrubbed, disinfected and power washing. Gross negligence during a pandemic! If the doors are open a restaurant is supposed to let patrons use the restroom too and there was no way they'd let anyone do that! Shame on whoever has the titles of "Manager" at the worst Panera in the metro area of Peoria! Clean up your site! And put up the umbrellas since this location is all sun in the late afternoon. Almost slipped and busted my you know what trying to get from the car to the front door, which was only about 10 feet away. My daughter ordered a cinnamon roll and I ordered the artichoke soufflé. The lady at the register was clearly more invested in fixing the dog collar she wore as a necklace that making sure the food was actually. I asked her if she could warm the cinnamon roll, and she loudly stated just so you know you can give you a napkin to put it on and you can use the microwave to warm it, but you can't have a plate or it will crack in the microwave. First, I don't want my cinnamon roll with frosting on a dang napkin in a common microwave. If you have a microwave that you instruct customers to use WHILE at the restaurant (who should also be serving the food hot, since, you know, it's a RESTAURANT) than at least have plates that can go into the microwave for 20 seconds. Second, TURN ON the large hot plate that is supposed to keep the soufflés you are selling warm. That is not too much to ask. I needed to microwave that as well, since it was actually cold. I love eating at Panera and I get the same thing every time. the fugi apple chicken salad is just so darn good! It has blue cheese crumbles that gives it a bit of tang and the chicken is moist. My other favorite is the baked potato soup which is one of the best I've eaten. I love to dip my crusty loaf of bread in the soup. Topped off with a cup of coffee or hot tea and you have a super filling lunch so make sure you are hungry! read more

The soups and sandwiches at Panera are okay but the portion size for the price leaves you hungry. Everything seems pretty healthy for you here. The many different bagels and cream cheeses are very popular with coworkers. My favorite bagel is probably the cinnamon sugar crunch. I am not a fan of their breakfast sandwiches and non-fountain beverages. Everything I tried missed the mark taste-wise. The soba noodle chicken soup was tasty but was again overpriced for its size and quality. This location is by far the better of the two in town. The drive-thru moves quickly and they take your phone number as you order for rewards so you can skip that step at the window. I rarely get handed an incorrect order. Inside, there are usually 3-4 cashiers at lunch on weekdays and food comes up quickly at the counter. Skip Panera if you're hungry. I went there for breakfast and had the Greek yogurt with fruit, and a ham and eggs sandwich and an iced latte. They guy up front showed me the loaf of bread it must have been 6 inches wide by 4 inches high. My sandwich came out about 1/4 that size. I asked where's the rest of my sandwich? Panera still has mass appeal (it appeals to the masses) but honestly, it just isn't very good for two of their signature offerings: Soups and Sandwiches. I was here over the holidays to meet my cousins and the place was packed with the aforementioned masses, getting their Panera fix. Even though the queue was like 15 deep, they moved things along quickly. A few other comments about the quality or lack thereof at most Panera's I've gone to over the years The first critique can be supported If you are to look at the photo's at this Panera, most are Stock photos put up by Panera and don't at all reflect what you get in reality. Sandwiches are generally thrown together and lacking proportion, meaning, the bread to meat/topping ratio is severely off where it's mostly bread....this might actually be by design bc it is Panera BREAD Company after all (that would a joke right there). Next is quality of the meat. Their chicken sucks, it's that rubbery, sickly looking chicken that has been prepackaged and portioned out. Why am I paying for this? It's just not good, seriously. Same can be said for the turkey which is marginally better. The tuna is ok but swimming in disgusting, unhealthy mayo so i'll pass on that too. Finally the Soup. They fall victim to another unhealthy trick with regard to Soup and Restaurants. Over salted. Your BP could go up by 30 points from one sitting, sort of ridiculous. And portion size is lacking but prob a good thing bc that would just be more sodium going into your system. So there we go. To me, Panera is one of the restaurants that give "Chain Restaurants" a terrible name. And they pretend they're the healthy option out there but in reality they fill their food with a bunch of unhealthy crap that's made to be moved quickly and at high volume. Normally I'm a big Panera fan, but the last few times we've gone, the food has been less than stellar. I usually get the turkey avocado club, and the last time they were so stingy with the avocado I had to take the sandwich apart to find it. There was one thumb-sized dollop on the whole sandwich! The bacon wasn't much to rave about either. We went to Panera this morning for breakfast. We were getting what is called the kitchen sink cookie. My wife and I were going to split it. The cashier actually had the nerve to ask us if we knew that it was $4. Am I stupid which is what I wanted to say. I felt like she was acting condescending towards us and being very patronizing. Either she felt that we couldn't afford the cookie or we are too dumb to be able to read the menu. I complained to the manager who just basically tried to make excuses. So it will be a long time before I go back to this Panera. Everything's expensive there it doesn't matter what you get. I love Panera! They have so many choices and pretty much all of their food/drinks are yummy! I have always been a big fan of their bagels and cream cheese, but their pastries are also delicious! Their lunch/dinner options are yum, esp. the turkey bacon bravo sandwhich, broccoli cheese soup, chopped barbque chicken salad, etc! It's literally all good, in my opinion. I also think the price is right. $7.50 for lunch and/or dinner is not expensive, contrary to what some may think...maybe if you compare it to McDonalds, but it's usually better for you anyway. I will pay more for quality. Just recently, I noticed they list the calories on the wall menu which is awesome! Who else does that? Dear Panera, I have given you so many opportunities to live up to your advertisements and yet you continue to fail me every freaking time. I am done. Yes, your bread and bagels are decent, I can't complain about the soups (but let's be honest, it's pretty hard to screw up a soup in the franchised food business) and your sandwiches have great potential; however, the execution of these sandwiches is beyond disappointing. And the price tag that comes with them makes the pain even worse. In my opinion, the quality of a sandwich lies in the construction which you clearly have the inability to support. Adequate amounts of ingredients distributed as evenly as possible between the two halves of the bread. Easy, right? Apparently not so much. This place has really great customer service up front and okay service on the back end. We come here often and it is our favorite Panera in Central Illinois. It is always clean and the food comes up fast. We have had some issues with temperature of food, but with a little annoyance, they tend to fix it right up. read more
