Much, much better this time around. The service was greatly improved this time, as we were served as soon as we were seated. The food came out fast; a family order of breadsticks, and two 14" thin-crust pizzas. The Florentine pizza was great. Not too many vegetables, still a crisp crust, and great tasting all around. The absolute without-a-doubt best pizza in all the land! The thin-crust pizza is cut into really small squares and just melts in your mouth! And while you're waiting for your pizza, try the salad - but you've got to just pour on their signature French dressing like it's going out of style. Not a fan. Went here several times with family, most recently in July, but just am not that into Monical's given my biases toward NYC pizza, which this is not. It's thin pizza with decent taste and stringy cheese, but I don't like the crust. It doesn't have the texture or taste of NYC pizza crust, due to the water the dough is made with, the way it's baked, etc. Does that mean the pizza is bad, or you won't like it? Not necessarily, but these are just my preferences. If you're new to central Illinois and are looking for decent pizza, I'd recommend giving Monical's a try. read more

Will never go there again. Yes it was busy but it took over 11/2 hours to be told it would be another 5 min to cook your pizza. I was sitting watching delivery and carry out and all the pizza went there. We ordered same time as table next to us and they were done eating when I asked about our pizza and said they got put in as they were ordered! Not true at all. I usually love this place but today on August 8 I ordered at 1105 received my breadsticks right away but no pizza till noon and it was ice cold. They said they were busy but only 4 tables were in there. I don't understand what took so long but I can tell the waitress let my pizza sit for at least ten minutes as when I got it was ice cold and they didn't even care. read more

I do really enjoy the pizza here, but it might not be for everyone. I feel the sauce is sweeter than most places I normally go to, but it's still good, I'd prefer Monical's over other chain places. This was our family's first, and most likely last, pizza we will ever order from Monical's Pizza in Washington, IL. Thin crust cheese 14" and thin crust 3 topping 14" were a special for $32! The crust was flavorless cardboard - at best. Yikes! The toppings were not too sparse but certainly not generous, and of mediocre flavor. Overall, it was a great disappointment. Possibly their dine-in menu is better, however when "PIZZA" is in your name, customers should be able to expect it is their specialty. Ordered delivery from this location two weeks in a row. The order was wrong both times. Last week, one pizza had zero toppings one one half??? This week one pizza had no cheese???? I talked to the manager and requested he personally make me another pizza and personally deliver it, so he would learn how to manage better. He refused and I fired him. My order was $58 which is already the most expensive pizza around this area. Then I gave a $10 tip which is for the great service I normally receive from other locations. My review stars would be higher, but lately the quality has been going down. Been going to monical's since the 1980's (this place specifically). We occasionally, more often than not, get a great looking pizza that has burnt crud on the bottom. It is as if the ovens need a good cleaning. When we have a decent pizza, it's as if we taste cleaning chemicals in the pizza. Sometimes this weird flavor. Need to take a look at this resturant with glasses on and not thru a monical. First off not Italian food, the lasagna we had tasted like it came out of a grocery store cooler and was taken out of its microwave tray before it was served to us. We ordered the family servings which was 4 servings of lasagna, odd how all 4 individual servings looked exactly alike just like they were slid out of a microwave tray. Additionally, the riicotta cheese had the consistency of runny yogurt and the noodles were microwave hard. Review took a while longer to write as I was unfortunately busy running into another room a few times. You want Italian keep looking. read more
