Palanza's Family Dining - Baked tortellini

Review Visit: December 29th, 2015…read more Palanza's was Plainza's. Palanza's seems to be well-regarded among people I know from the Washington area. With that in mind, I went with a group of friends to try it out one evening. We came. We ate. We left reeking of grease. That just about sums up my experience there. We showed up for dinner and tried a variety of things. We all ordered something different and shared some appetizers. What we all picked off the menu was lost to time. But I do remember chomping down my food and having to tell my mouth that there was indeed some food being consumed since there wasn't much flavor in my sandwich. I can't speak for my friends and I know asking them about their experience today would lead to a lot of "I don't remember"s. So, I am going to chalk it up to maybe having an off day there, either on my behalf or the chefs behalf. Either way, I won't forget the stench of my coat after we left. As soon as we got in my car to leave (it was just Tim and I in my car), I could instantly smell the reek of grease on my coat. It was fairly strong and made me gag a bit as I was taking Tim home. Once I got home, I instantly put my coat in the hamper for immediate cleaning. It's amazing that I don't remember what sandwich I ordered but the heavy grease smell on my coat is a memory that is clear as day. Second chances are something I believe in. I am willing to give Palanza's another go should the opportunity arise.

Got a salad to start and I was kind of disappointed, lettuce wasn't super fresh and it was very watery. For the main dish I got the baked tortellini, very good although I thought there could have been a little bit more sauce. Service was top notch! Will come back as our family loves coming here.

Once you enter, you'll wrap around in a tunnel through some games, a hallway of slot machines, and then you'll arrive to an open space with a full bar and lots of seating. We came right after the holidays and they still had lights strung from the ceiling with ornaments hanging off which was really cool! They have a handful of drinks on tab, bottled options, full bar, and some appetizer food options. TVs for game streaming, and loud music. It was surprisingly busy on a Friday night and seems to be a popular local hang out. Parking options all around since the local shops it's near aren't open in the evening. We stayed at the air bnb not even a block away so we were able to walk which was a plus!

I was really surprised at the professional bartendibg technique. I had Manhattans and my wife enjoyed two Cosmos. All were balanced with quality hooch. The clientele was mostly a beer crowd, and all seemed to be having a good time. There were no power drinkers and nothing unseemly going on. The food is limited, but they heat up frozen pizzas, which are delicious after a couple of cocktails or pitcher of beer. The bartenders are friendly and made us feel welcome.

Review Visit: June 24th, 2015…read more They say, "pizza makes the world go around". Geo's does a good job helping it spin... 8 slices at a time. It is no lie; I am a huge pizza lover. Circular. Cut into slices. Endless arrangement of toppings. I will try almost any and all pizzas. So, it's only natural that I try the small pizzerias throughout the world. Geo's Pizza was widely regarded as great pizza among some of my coworkers and friends. After some very little arm twisting, I finally made my way there. I brought along my friend who had it before and wanted to come with. We walk in and snag a seat. It wasn't too busy, so we got to pick wherever we wanted to sit. We settled down on a table and cracked open the menus. Geo's is famous for their cheesy dough nuggets. Without much more arm twisting, my friend convinced me that we should order some. After looking over the menu, we settled on the cheesy dough nuggets and a barbeque chicken pizza. The service was prompt and never overbearing or missing. The waiter checked in on us here and there, without being too overbearing or too absent. The food took a normal time to come out. About 15 minutes or so. As soon as the pizza and nuggets hit the table, we pounced on it without hesitation. The nuggets were little nuggets of deliciousness. The barbeque chicken pizza was a delight. It was a bit weak on flavor compared to other ones that I have had, but I am not a pizza snob and enjoy almost all pizza equally. Did Geo's live up to the hype? Yes, for the most part. Despite the pizza lacking a bit in flavor, it was still delicious and a good lunch with a friend. Sometimes the company is just as good, if not better than the meal.

The chicken Alfredo came with a salad and garlic bread. The salad was not the greatest quality and the serving size was way too small. The garlic bread was decent but lacked that strong garlic flavor we're after. As for the other food... it was really good! The pizza seemed a little small for a 16". The Alfredo could have used more Parmesan flavor. The service was pleasant! I would recommend this restaurant.
