For an airport food stop, The Riverbend is fine. It offers a variety of hot food and has grab-n-go items as well. It's not very welcoming though. The counter is covered with a wall (the back of some equipment, I believe) and the registers are overshadowed by it. Every time I am there it seems dim too. However, they are the only game in town with hot food in this side of the TSA. So don't let the appearance put you off; so long as it's only dim and not dark, it means they are open. read more

The staff are obviously untrained. Because they aren't clear about their work, they are really brusk with customers in a way that's offputting. The breakfast sandwich was perfectly average. Nothing very good and horrible about it. It provided some needed morning protein. read more

Th sandwiches weren't unreasonably priced as far as airport terminal prices are concerned. The turkey and cheese on sourdough didn't skimp on the meat and the lettuce was fresh. It definitely beat another burger or less healthy option in the airport and there was plenty of clean seating available. read more

This place was exactly as expected after reading the reviews. I would have eaten elsewhere but there are no other options and my flight was delayed so I couldn't just wait until my destination. The menu is extensive but less can be more. The service is friendly but it couldn't make up for the awful caprese panini I had here. It was greasy and so hot when it came out I couldn't eat it for 20 minutes. The fillings kept falling out. I love this airport, I'm here once a month. OK, The Riverbend..... I've never once had bad service here. They act a little disconnected, but then again they're not here to build a relationship with you like a local bar. Myra is my server/bartender and she's really nice, proficient, and on point with ready orders. Food..... I always get The Proscuit 10" pizza. So good! I have been sitting here once a month, and I've never once seen anyone in this bar complain about anything, and believe me I watch ! I was severely disappointed with the customer service, I ordered a pepperoni pizza but they gave a combo pizza. I politely asked to exchange it but they wanted to argue over their mistake and then didn't want to change it out. I understand airport traffic can be difficult, but I was willing to wait for the correct pizza and not make a big deal of it. Totally horrible service! Not my norm for reviewing airport restaurants but I'm sitting here with time to kill and thought I would. It's early in the morning in Springfield Missouri, they got breakfast. I will let you know that the airport is pretty quiet and the lines are short. The staff is friendly and actually called me over to the second register with limited wait time. Apparently they just started this menu yesterday so they weren't able to comment on how good the food was or if it was anything they recommend. It probably took about five or six minutes to get the order. I got some chicken biscuit thing. I have to say, it's actually pretty darn good for airport food. I could see them selling this in a restaurant. Granted there's a little bit of a markup, but it's pretty solid for airport food. I don't know what menu they were using before, but I have a feeling that this is a pretty good upgrade from what they had before based on previous reviews. I'm glad I stopped here to eat since it's going to be a long flight and day of travel. Good food, I would suggest eating here if you're on the fence if you should eat at the airport or not. read more

Do NOT eat here. I repeat, avoid at all costs. I got a Nashville hot chicken sandwich and on my second bite realized the chicken was completely raw. I took it back and the employees looked disgusted at how uncooked the chicken was. Then I tried to just get a slice of pepperoni pizza (safer) I took off a piece of pepperoni to blow on it and realized it was an old slice of pizza that they just threw some shredded cheese on the reheated it. Like another reviewer said, I got the Nashville Hot chicken Sandwich and only after taking multiple bites did I realize that the chicken was extremely undercooked in the middle. My only regret is not reading the reviews prior to ordering because I 100% would not have ordered. Now all I can do is wait and see If I get food poisoning. Even the most simple requests were met with derision and attitude. Such as, "could I please have more ketchup?" or "where are the napkins?" Only because they are so out of whack. Only thing open and did they not know there were people coming to the airport who would come there? Staff needs training in customer service and de-escalation. I was humiliated in front of a full bar when I begrudgingly returned a sandwich I ordered with no mayo -- a detail the staff confirmed verbally as I placed my order -- because, well, it was slathered in *mayo* and I am highly sensitive to eggs. Now if you know me, you know I hate returning food. It's wasteful and the confrontation makes me feel tense. But under the circumstances (hopping on a plane for several hours), I couldn't risk it. The staff told me they could not simply make me another sandwich because it was pre-made and warmed for order. Uh, cool, so, refund? No -- a partial refund on my card was not possible because it was part of a joint order I placed with my wife. Okay, how about something else? I was informed I'd have to stand in line again, order again, and pay again for a replacement sandwich. Great, so now I'm out $35 for bistro food in an airport where you only have one option post-security of where to eat. When I frustratedly told the wait staff in a purr that they may want to inform customers at the time of order that they can't make sandwiches to order, instead of, you know, verbally confirming the opposite, the staff member slammed down my receipt and yelled at me that she was "trying to be nice, but whatever -- here's your refund." I had to endure the awkward glares of everyone at the bar and the cold shoulder of the wait staff as they ignored me for several minutes. I just wanted food I could eat, not a free meal. My wife said it was awful for everyone around. I get that serving food and drinks at the airport can be stressful, but when the tiniest confrontation about a botched order you caused makes you flip your lid, it's time for some customer service training.
