a view of a dining area with tables and chairs

Th sandwiches weren't unreasonably priced as far as airport terminal prices are concerned. The turkey and cheese on sourdough didn't skimp on the meat and the lettuce was fresh. It definitely beat another burger or less healthy option in the airport and there was plenty of clean seating available.

Waiting on my flight I stopped at The Riverbend for a quick bit to eat. The menu seems to have changed from other pictures I've seen on yelp, but I forgot to take a pic of that. The staff was very kind and the dining area was super clean! The food came out really fast and it was very tasty! Recommend you stop here if your coming through and have time for a quick meal, they have an online preorder and to go boxes for those pressed for time!

Not my norm for reviewing airport restaurants but I'm sitting here with time to kill and thought I would. It's early in the morning in Springfield Missouri, they got breakfast. I will let you know that the airport is pretty quiet and the lines are short. The staff is friendly and actually called me over to the second register with limited wait time. Apparently they just started this menu yesterday so they weren't able to comment on how good the food was or if it was anything they recommend. It probably took about five or six minutes to get the order. I got some chicken biscuit thing. I have to say, it's actually pretty darn good for airport food. I could see them selling this in a restaurant. Granted there's a little bit of a markup, but it's pretty solid for airport food. I don't know what menu they were using before, but I have a feeling that this is a pretty good upgrade from what they had before based on previous reviews. I'm glad I stopped here to eat since it's going to be a long flight and day of travel. Good food, I would suggest eating here if you're on the fence if you should eat at the airport or not.

Took about 30 mins to recieve our two sandwiches. I got the sunrise sandwich thats was actually very good! But when most people are in a time crunch, I'm sure this would be frustrating.

Grime, the key clue in poor cleaning discipline

Captive audience; they don't try very hard. Veggie burger took 15 min to come out. This is an airport, not a restaurant. Come on. When it did finally come out, it was a spicy mayo burger. Had to wipe a ton of this off. Fries were dumped from the bottom of the crumb bin into my plate. Sad. Dirty seating at the individual seat bar area. The grime was disgusting. McAllisters employees manning this place. I asked a guy in a McAllister shirt why the menu on this side of security was different than the front side of security. He said, "I dunno, I only work on this side." Was asking because the sandwich menu is missing 5-6 choices... which I didn't know...until I was past security.

I'll be the first to admit, airport restaurants are given a hard way to go on Yelp. This one, lives…read moreup to that common reputation. I was at the Springfield Airport for hours, arriving here, at the only restaurant in the airport, before noon. Why were all of the tables dirty so early?! Then the trash was overflowing... all while the employees just stood around talking to each other. Corporate really needs to look into this location. This being my only visit to a McAlister's location, I have no desire to go back or to another one. There is a coffee shop with pastries and stuff, which is where I'll go if I'm ever stuck up in this airport again. This MD location is basically a three in one. There is a bar to the left, basically attached to MD's and a grill "The Riverbend" that shares a counter area with MD's. The salads and sandwiches are premade. I can attest, the salad was premade and far from fresh. Even before noon! I literally threw away over half of it. My next try, the croissant roll and chicken salad were great. At least they got that right, I'll give them that. They serve a specialty coffee that I hadn't ever tried, which is one reason I chose to eat here. They too need to pull out of this location and remove their name. I purposely didn't mention their name and hope that I'll forget this affiliation when I go to judge that coffee again. Unbeknownst to me when I ordered, the coffee is not fresh behind the counter, its by the soda fountain machine. It was slap out, I got two pumps. I mentioned it to the guy behind the counter, but he wasn't in a hurry to fill it. Never. Again.

Great place come here often, this time me and the hubby went for a late dinner about 730 was…read moreadvised we could place a togo order but they are closing at 8. I asked why the other locations are open till 9 she advised they close at 8 because their employees go to school tomorrow, and it's not safe to be out after 8? Really? Is this a rule now? I was ashamed to think there is that much fear in this area? No other businesses close early for that reason?. Just never heard this before.

I'm really not sure where to start with this review. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all. I saw…read morephotos of the food on Yelp and thought this might be a good dive or greasy spoon style diner to have lunch at with my husband, since I was in the area. We met there and the outside aesthetic alone should've warned us off. To start, the exterior of the building was quite worn down, the windows were dark and dirty, and the sign was broken. If it weren't for the cars parked outside and for the fact that I called ahead to ensure they were open, we would've thought they were closed for business, permanently. We enter the building lobby, for lack of a better word, and proceed into the dining room. The first step into the dining room was me stepping into a literal hole that is covered with a rubber mat. That's a definite hazard. I couldn't believe that they'd just cover it with a mat. That's really dangerous. At that point, I was really starting to rethink staying. We walk further in and there is this atrocious, sour, vomit-inducing stench that billows throughout the room. It slaps you in the face and takes your breath away, and it's covered by a very strong pine smell. Again, I'm contemplating leaving but my husband didn't want to make a scene. The place is FILTHY! And I don't mean filthy as in someone spilled food and didn't clean it up. I'm talking decades of grease, dirt, bacteria, etc. covering the floor and furniture. You could take a putty knife and chisel up layers of gunk from the floor. There was even a sign that said something like- "Wipe tables down each night- Alli". I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist. If you have to tell your staff that.... ugh... We get to the table and I didn't even want to touch the chair to sit, let alone stay there and eat, but I didn't want to leave right after we entered the place. I was hoping (praying) the food would be worth it... The waitress comes over to take our drink order and brings the drinks back pretty quickly. The cup felt like it hadn't been washed, ever... It had a layer of grime on the outside. Say you cooked something greasy at home and let the greasy dish soak in the sink for a day, but a cup fell into the pan and soaked with it overnight. When you pick it up the next day and the grease is stuck to the side of it- that's what it felt like. I would've asked for a new cup, but I knew in my gut that the next one wouldn't be any better. It's like they run their dishes through a dishwasher that only has cold water and no hot water. Bleh. They take our food order and I'm quite literally praying that we don't get sick from eating here. Why I stayed, I have no idea. I guess I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. The waitresses seemed like they had their own issues and I didn't want to add to it. The food comes out and and it's time to eat. My burger was ok at first, clearly a frozen patty but I'm giving it a shot. Then I taste something off and stop eating it. My fries... I just can't even... a few of them were ok, but then I got to some that tasted like they had been fried in a deep fryer that had been used for years without being cleaned or having the grease replaced. My burger also tasted like it was cooked on a filthy grill. My husband couldn't stomach the place and only ate the things on his plate that he thought couldn't make him sick. We got the ticket, paid, and left as quickly as we could without being too obvious or rude. It's a little restaurant that is clearly struggling. This place was beyond 'dive' or 'greasy spoon' status. There's no possible way that this restaurant is safe to eat at. I honestly don't know how they ever pass the health inspection. The level of dirty here is not something that can be cleaned up the day before inspection day, just to get this dirty again between inspections. It must never, ever, be cleaned, or the inspector is blind, literally. As you can guess, we will never be eating here again and I don't recommend that you do either.

Again third year in a row they did not disappoint food was fresh, fast service. Not bad for a…read moresmall off the beaten path home grown diner. My recommendation is to give it a try and you won't be disappointed.
