But the portions are small, and I felt like a needed a meal less than an hour after eating there, so... Not worth the money. But it was a good little sandwich if you're ever not hungry at all but feel the need to eat something. But if you're hungry, or even have a normal person-sized appetite, best to go somewhere else. Also, service is slow -- kind, but slow -- and you won't be getting your tiny deli sandwich in a hurry. So if you thought, "oh, a deli, I'll save some time and get a quick bite." No. No you will not. Nothing personal, but this is a confused business model yielding low ROI for the customer in terms of portion and quality per price. If you have the time and want to pay this much for a sit down restaurant, go get full at literally any table service restaurant in town and avoid this place. But, if you like overpaying for tiny sandwiches that take forever to be served, then this is the spot for you. I just don't see how I could ever be compelled to return here. This makes no sense as a restaurant. It was good--but it was just a little sandwich snack that took well over an hour to walk in, sit down, order, receive, and then eat. The eating part took almost no time, however, because, as I said, the portions are tiny. It did taste good, though, so you get a second star.

Had one gluten free order in the mix so we asked that the mac 'n cheese be removed from the BBQ spud. The cashier checked to make sure that the order was correct before she bagged up our food. She also offered us some free sweet tea that she mistakenly made for another order. Food was great when we unbagged at home. Spuds were a hit and the Savannah Chopped Salad was amazing.

I know I love the tea, salads, chili and broccoli cheddar soup. Out of curiosity I decided to try the Cajun red beans and rice. That was a terrible mistake. The recipe being used at McAlister's on Sunshine needs to be thrown in the trash. If they want to sell a bowl of beans the menu should just say that. Rice and flavor are supposed to be included. I was so mad. My half and half tea with strawberry purée was delicious though.

Imagine my sadness then when I realized it had olives on it. Not a big thing though, as these mistakes happen. I took it back to the window and pointed out it wasn't supposed to have olives on it. The girl I spoke with asked to see my receipt showing it wasn't supposed to have olives. I showed her the receipt and it showed 'no sig sauce' but didn't say anything about the olives. Apparently I also ordered a side of attitude without realizing it because she got all huffy and demanded to know what I wanted her to do about it. I politely told her I thought she should remake the sandwich. I thought her head was going to spin off as she grabbed the sandwich from me and threw it into the trash. The new sandwich I got looked just as good as the original minus the olives but I was almost afraid to bite in to it for fear she spit into it out of spite.

Wow, Mama Jean's has really stepped up their game!…read more Ok, I've never been in this location, was in-and-out at the one on Sunshine and 65, so the only memories I really have of Mama Jean's were weird, childhood ones of the location on Campbell. That being said, I was totally wowed when my Mom and I stopped in here to grab just a few vegetables. When I saw the cafe, I immediately asked her if she wanted to get a drink while we shop. I ordered a delicious unsweet iced tea (and I got a free refill on my way out!) and my Mom ordered the Honey Latte iced. The girl who took our order was sweet, happy to help, and got our drinks out quickly. I've been living in Buffalo, NY for the last 5 years, which is certainly more ethnically and politically diverse than Springfield, so I've become accustomed to finding certain brands and products at local grocery stores out East that stock specifically for the demographic. I had hoped but didn't place my happiness on being able to find those brands here, but sure enough, Mama Jean's had everything I was looking for and more! I'm so happy! We bought our local vegetables we wanted, I grabbed a cereal I was telling my mom about earlier that day, and even grabbed a joint supplement one of the staff helped me find to improve my half marathon training I'm doing right now.
