We arrived in Dublin after an 11+ hour trip tired and hungry. After we checked into our lodging, took short naps and showers we walked around the corner to The Riddler for a mid afternoon lunch because it is close, and has good Yelp reviews. We made an excellent choice! Our server Chloe was friendly and a delight. There are riddles on the walls, hence the name, and we had fun guessing the answers. The smoked seafood chowder was the BEST chowder I have ever eaten and the hot organic Clipper green tea with honey was perfect! Hubby enjoyed a tasty chicken bacon rigatoni and iced tea with lemon. Both his tea and the water were brought to the table in glass carafes; a nice touch. Even the water in Dublin has a good taste! There was six of us to be seated. We arrived around 920am, just after opening. We were greeted with a smile by the server. We had a couple questions regarding what a rasher (bacon which is saltier) and the black and white pudding (the white are the white blood cells). She was very animated talking about the pudding. We ordered porridge, the Irish Egg, and the full Irish breakfast. The porridge didn't have a lot of seasoning/flavor. The Irish egg was good, liked the bacon jam on the toast. My friend wasn't a fan of the bacon jam as it was too sweet for her. The eggs were a little over cooked for me (ordered medium). The sausage in the full Irish was very good. I tried both the black and white pudding. I liked both, but preferred the white. The mushrooms and rashers were very good. All in all, a good breakfast! read more

We happened to stumble here for lunch on a weekday, and were quite pleasantly surprised. The place was clean, wait staff was friendly and quick, and food was delicious. Our party ordered and split a few items, and I would strongly recommend the mussels - it must have been something like three dozen delicious bites of mouth watering goodness. read more

We came in late right before closing but the staff treated us well. My husband and I both had the lamb. It is definitely the best thing we ever ate. He is still talking about it more than a month later. I also had a glass of the strawberry wine. I wish I had had more than one glass it was so good. This place just opened few months ago and I love it already, the area really needed a place like this! I have been there for lunch and even if the menù is not huge, all the plates looked really good I didn't know what to order! I had soup of the day with sandwich, simple but good! This restaurant is a real find. We enjoyed dinner for six, mains included lamb, chicken, hake and vegetarian Wellington. We shared 3 starters, the crab mango salad was delicious as was the pork belly and goat cheese with beetroot (forget exact name). We also shared desserts. The staff was great and they did not rush us even though we were the last ones to leave on a Monday. The atmosphere is casual, decor is cool. Parking on nearby side streets was easy. read more

2.5 stars. I have eaten here twice now. Restaurant is nicely decorated, and has a central location near Christ Church Cathedral. 1st visit: staff were slow in doing everything. I ordered a bowl of fish chowder from the lunch menu. It was okay, I finished it as I was hungry and was on a short lunch break from work. 2nd visit, (post renovations of getting a pizza oven and not sure what else): My colleagues and I were sat around two large tables, they had our exact numbers but placed us to close together for comfort, (I spent the evening being elbowed or elbowing one of my colleagues), their was no water on the tables, we only got water after three different people asked for some, the card machine was broken so nobody could buy a drink, (why do they only have one card machine?!), and their was a small and extremely expensive selection of drinks. I had three course and two small glasses of red wine as part of a staff work dinner. Wine was okay, but portion was tiny. My mushroom soup was served without any bread or soup crackers and was burnt and way too salty, (we will also not mention the fact that I had to wait with my soup in front of me for a spoon as the wait staff forgot the soup spoons). I choose to get the sole vegetarian option on our small set menu, it was a penne arrabiata, but it was far too spicy. As in instead of a nice flavoursome dish I could not taste anything besides heat, and ended up picking out the pieces of penne pasta to eat, (I love spicy food, hell I grow chilli peppers!, but this was ridiculously spicy). The dessert I choose was the strawberry cheesecake, (now I come from the tradition of making cheesecake with philadelphia cheese, however I have come to expect the gelatin version when eating out), it was awful. It tasted like sugary fake strawberries, and was so bad that I did not finish it. I love cheesecake and I could not finish my dessert, that has to say a lot. In summary, I will no longer be recommending this place for lunch after visiting Chirst Church, and will tell my friends not to visit as it is not worth the time or money. read more

We arrived in Dublin for the first time tired and hungry. The Riddler came up on a quick Trip Advisor search and we decided to give it a go for dinner -- we weren't expecting much. We couldn't have been more wrong. Excellent service, truly memorable food, all-around wonderful experience. I live in New York and this was a meal I won't forget. We had the seafood chowder (best I had in Ireland) and the goat cheese to start. Both were lovely. The Cabernet Sauvingnon by the glass was a real crowd pleaser, drinkable and delicious. But then there were the mains... my boyfriend's lamb was cooked perfectly and he loved the purple potatoes and carrot puree that came with it. And I had the vegetarian wellington -- as a life-long vegetarian I'm often dubious of vegetarian versions of normally meat-based dishes. Wrong again! It was absolutely delicious! Full of flavor, perfect consistency, the pastry was flaky and delicious. I only regret that I ate so much of it I didn't have room for dessert! The service was excellent (the waitresses even gave us some live music recommendations). And we really enjoyed puzzling over the riddles on the walls. What a little gem! And a nice break from all the traditional Irish food that abounds. Definitely make a point to dine at The Riddler! read more

Fantastic food! We came here on a whim -- it was one of the few restaurants we hit where we hadn't had a friend suggest it already. I'm going to be that friend now and firmly suggest you go here and order the mussels. The broth is light and flavorful but doesn't overpower the mussels, and they come with a side of fries (perfectly crispy and the right amount of salt). My boyfriend got the buffalo wings and said they might even be better than our usual wing spot back home. Also, the iced tea is great and more on the fruity side. Don't waste your time on this place. We got there at 6:00 and the place was half empty. The hostess grabbed some menus and went to seat us when a very unfriendly management lady told us that they had reservations coming in 30 minutes so we couldn't be accommodated. Completely unfriendly and not in the least bit service oriented. The unfriendly attitude ruined the last night we spent in Ireland but we are so glad we didn't spend any hard earned vacation money in a place like this. read more

The staff were helpful and attentive and the chef clearly knows what he is doing. His professional trading shines.
