Our party of nine had a fantastic Sunday lunch! The food was excellent and the staff was hilarious with our crazy group. We loved the stew, chowder, smoked salmon, and summer risotto-- all delicious! The riddles were fascinating and we even learned a few fun facts about Irish rain from the knowledgeable staff. ‍;) This visit was such a great welcome to Ireland and the best food we ate in the city. Thank you!

This place just opened few months ago and I love it already, the area really needed a place like this! I have been there for lunch and even if the menù is not huge, all the plates looked really good I didn't know what to order! I had soup of the day with sandwich, simple but good! Perfect for lunch break.

2.5 stars. I have eaten here twice now. Restaurant is nicely decorated, and has a central location near Christ Church Cathedral. 1st visit: staff were slow in doing everything. I ordered a bowl of fish chowder from the lunch menu. It was okay, I finished it as I was hungry and was on a short lunch break from work. 2nd visit, (post renovations of getting a pizza oven and not sure what else): My colleagues and I were sat around two large tables, they had our exact numbers but placed us to close together for comfort, (I spent the evening being elbowed or elbowing one of my colleagues), their was no water on the tables, we only got water after three different people asked for some, the card machine was broken so nobody could buy a drink, (why do they only have one card machine?!), and their was a small and extremely expensive selection of drinks. I had three course and two small glasses of red wine as part of a staff work dinner. Wine was okay, but portion was tiny. My mushroom soup was served without any bread or soup crackers and was burnt and way too salty, (we will also not mention the fact that I had to wait with my soup in front of me for a spoon as the wait staff forgot the soup spoons). I choose to get the sole vegetarian option on our small set menu, it was a penne arrabiata, but it was far too spicy. As in instead of a nice flavoursome dish I could not taste anything besides heat, and ended up picking out the pieces of penne pasta to eat, (I love spicy food, hell I grow chilli peppers!, but this was ridiculously spicy). The dessert I choose was the strawberry cheesecake, (now I come from the tradition of making cheesecake with philadelphia cheese, however I have come to expect the gelatin version when eating out), it was awful. It tasted like sugary fake strawberries, and was so bad that I did not finish it. I love cheesecake and I could not finish my dessert, that has to say a lot. In summary, I will no longer be recommending this place for lunch after visiting Chirst Church, and will tell my friends not to visit as it is not worth the time or money.

I had the full Irish breakfast. Best I had so far while touring Ireland. Nice clean spot with good service. Will come again....

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

Menu has a good selection of Irish dishes from seafood chowder up to lamb stew and pies. We ordered the potato soup, seafood chowder, 'banjo' burger with onion rings. The soups arrived first and the seafood chowder was loaded with huge pieces of fish, potatoes (not many) with a creamy rich base. Flavor was incredible and in itself a full meal. Served in a large crock style bowl. The potato soup was minus any whole potatoes. It was a rich creamy base with plenty of flavor and very hearty. The burger was really a double cheeseburger with plenty of cheese, grilled onions, what appeared to be a mayonnaise based sauce on a soft hamburger roll. Really tall enough that it was tough getting your mouth around it. Very well seasoned burgers and the onions were a nice touch. The onion rings were huge and had a very light batter on them. They served in a metal bowl to keep them hot. For dessert the apple crumble was ordered which was served in a large dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This could have been warmer but still was good.. The 5 star rating is for the chowder as it outshone the rest of the meal although the burger was definitely a close second. Definitely will return to try other dishes when we come back to the city.

The meat and veggies were plentiful, the portion generous, and it was tasty enough but maybe on the bland side? It was served with a side of braised red cabbage which we really liked: sweet but not sour like pickled cabbage. And house-made brown stout bread, also very good. The wife had a Guinness and I, thinking it too cliché to order Guinness as a tourist in Ireland, tried a different stout whose name I've forgotten from the ample selection. But comparing the two, so much better! The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Irish dishes, more than most of the similar pubs in the area. As well as the other expected pub type food: sandwiches, burgers, etc. As for desserts, if we were hungrier, the wife might have ordered the Irish Whiskey Bread & Butter Pudding. The hubby would probably get his dessert later, as the selection was limited and neither that nor the Apple Crumble appealed. Sitting at the bar we had a more personalized experience than were we at a table. The bartender offered to take a photo of me behind the bar which I of course accepted. We made the right choice in coming here.

Our first meal in Dublin was at The Old Mill Restaurant, right in the heart of Temple Bar. It's been serving traditional Irish fare since the 1980s and has become a favorite stop for both locals and visitors looking for classic comfort food. After about a 20-minute wait, we were seated in the warm, inviting dining room. Susan ordered the mussels, one of her favorites, while I went with the Traditional Irish Stew and my daughter chose the Braised Beef & Guinness Stew. Both were exactly what we hoped for: hearty, flavorful, and perfect after a day of sightseeing. I finally understood why the Guinness stew had such a rich, dark color, and I have to admit, I came home a big fan of Irish stew. We finished with the Homemade Bread & Butter Pudding topped with fresh cream and custard, a comforting dessert that was the perfect ending to the meal. Service, atmosphere, value, and food were all five out of five. We also enjoyed chatting with the floor manager, whose pride in the restaurant and his team was obvious. That kind of hospitality made a great meal even more memorable.

The mash was too thick and chunky, the bangers were bit overcooked. The mussels was disappointing, seafood chowder was ok. The restaurant is located on the second floor. We made a reservation, but was asked to wait while they cleaned up the table. Unfortunately, the table they wanted to seat us, the folks decided to have a long after dinner conversation, thus we ended up waiting longer than expected. Then they seated us at a larger table after waiting 15 minutes or so. The service was decent... wasn't fan of tipping request, EU needs to stop adopting USA's stupid system :)
