I really liked Fallon and byrne wine cellar. It was down underneath Dublin's version of eataly. They provided laid-back service. That was wonderful. They also have a €1 corkage on Sunday through Tuesday nights when purchasing wine through their cellar. This ended up being a great deal and we tried a Bordeaux blend that we never would have discovered. It was delicious! We had olives, focaccia, Tagliatelle Bolognese and a la dolce vita pizza. All of those were special and prepared with love I would definitely return to the wine cellar. And recommend it to other travelers. read more

I'd probably give it 4.5. I had the house smoked salmon as a starter, it was fantastic. Not too strong but also a very nice flavor, excellent pieces of salmon and the accompanying salmon mouse was also excellent. Followed with the duck breast, also done very well, good sized portion. The mixed greens side also was nice, I liked the dressing. My only drawback was I was originally the only diner (about 12:30 for lunch), which was a little off putting, probably due to the quite formal nature of the restaurant. read more

This place is like one of my favorite places here The store itself has unique species of fruits, vegetables and mushrooms. The bakery has nice items as well. They have a cute cafe on the ground floor. They also have high end cold cuts (deli meat) , a verity of cheese and Foie Gras for your charcuterie board at the back On the top floor they have a restaurant and at the bottom floor (basement) they have a wine cellar With great fresh pizza's, charcuterie board options, freshly made pasta options and other mini bite. Super good! For the wine cellar, Price varies depending on drinks if you order any, but food wise it's around €70-100 for 2 people. This would include the almost €30 for the highest charcuterie board, two main dishes, pasta, one pizza, salad and dessert. Oh dear. The service is still pretty good, the venue as attractive and elegant as ever but the food simply doesn't match the overall vibe. Surprised to see it wasn't full but, after our underwhelming experience, maybe I shouldn't have been. My steak was just meh, not particularly huge, not particularly small, a bit more done than the medium rare I'd ordered but edible nonetheless. My companion had chicken which looked pretty miserable and poorly presented like the chicken had simply surrendered itself to its grisly fate and lay sadly on the plate. Much to the surprise of the server, we ordered an extra portion of chips. Based on his reaction I expected a veritable mountain of goodness. They were good, in fairness, but almost countable in the inevitable tiny buckets that restaurants seem to think attractive. The cocktails were pretty good and the wine was perfectly chilled so there's that. Overall, an over-expensive meal for what we got. And yes, prices might be a bit expensive but the produce section looked so edible and it smelt like fresh spring vegetables! The variety of breads - with Dulce and also Soda bread was another winner. I can see why this store consistently keeps winning green grocer of the year awards - seeing the butcher in action was a work of art. Visited on Sunday 25 February 2018, for an evening meal. Fallon & Byrne restaurant appealed to everyone because it offers a range of menus including vegan. We had a quick walk around their food hall (no time to check out the wine cellar unfortunately) and made our way upstairs. From their Vegan Friendly Menu I selected: Starter: roasted butternut squash & kale salad with red onion, toasted seeds, quinoa & avocado purée. Main: asparagus & aubergine layered with slow roast tomatoes, mixed leaf & balsamic. Dessert: rhubarb & pear crumble with raspberry sorbet. Service was good, ingredients seasonal, flavours balanced and wine excellent. If I was to fault anything, it's that perhaps my starter could have been a bit more substantial and a couple of people in our party ordered Roasted Globe of Artichoke mains but found the artichoke a bit tough and chewy. I love browsing around Fallon & Byrne's market area, but it's hard to walk out empty-handed. Everything they carry is consistently high quality, though perhaps a tad pricey. If you're looking for any specialty items/imported ingredients and can't find them in your local Tesco, try this place. I've come here for everything from trying to find good marzipan for a whisky pairing to Angostura bitters. When I have a craving for oysters, I often go to the fish counter here because they're open late enough for me to drop by after work (when most other fish shops would be closed). They also have a great selection of meats & cheeses... if you have dinner guests you need to impress, splurge for the jamon iberico bellota. This acorn-fed cured ham will just melt in your mouth. Of course, your charcuterie board wouldn't be complete without a fresh crusty bread. Don't worry - the bread selection immediately on your left as you enter the store is amazing as well. read more

So my wife and I have been here 2 weeks now and been to Fallon and Byrne twice, once to the wine cellar and once to the restaurant upstairs, both are mind-blowingly good. At the wine cellar we had slow cooked beef that was spectacular and great wine too! Upstairs in the restaurant the following week the experience was just as good! For both visits the service and overall experience were impeccable and I cannot fault anything about it. On my last trip to Dublin I came to Fallon & Byrne twice (it should be noted that I was in Ireland for less than four days.) On my first visit I had a hot chocolate and took a stroll around to peruse this fantastic food emporium. Then I returned the evening before my flight back to New York to buy. It seemed like time stopped as I combed the shelves of this gourmet food hall. In the end I bought a tin of mulled wine bundles, whisky toddy spice sachets, artisan Irish chocolate and salted butter caramels. In sum, Fallon & Byrne is to Dublin as Bi Rite is to San Francisco. But Fallon & Byrne has a restaurant! And I plan to eat there the next time I'm in town! read more

I love Fallon & Byrne, it never ever ever fails to disappoint, from the take away sandwiches at lunchtime to the gorgeous coffee, the range of cheese, the wine.... the list is endless in my view. It's rare a venue can cover all bases, quick lunch, cheese, meat and wine with friends, sit down waiter service lunch and even black tie occasions.... Fallon & Byrne does it all. I visited last night for what's become a monthly visit at this stage... or a little more. One cheese and charcuterie platter, one fish stew, one glass of the NZ Sauvignon blanc and one glass of the NZ Syrah and 2 very happy people... the atmosphere is always bubbly with the music at the right volume for a chat, it was warm as the wind was blowing outside and provided the perfect sustenance before braving the cold to do some shopping!! I do my grocery shopping here since it's the best in terms of fresh organic fruit and veg, as well as fresh fish! You will find all kinds of unusual stuff here, from white eggplants and purple cauliflower and carrots to shimeji mushrooms and yellow tomatos. They also have sections for asian (japanese, chinese, thai) spices, italian, all kinds of teasm oils, seasonings, grains... you can find almost anything! Much better than a regular supermarket for food. Everything is by weight so it's not expensive. The food they serve at the deli is also really tasty, and they do some nice stuff like fish cakes, veggie burgers, salads etc. Not to expensive either. The coffee here is great too. The upstairs restaurant is a bit posh though with waiter service and quite expensive. I don't like the food they serve there either, to complicated and not to my taste. read more

Came here for the restaurant and WOW, this place is amazing in all areas of its crowd, the food, and the prices! You can tell how fresh the ingredients are in the food right away and you can also purchase all things on the menu in the shop upstairs. Ordered a red wine and had the tapas cheese and salami plate which was meant for two, but the waiter cut the order in half and it was pretty much the exact same portions as the regular for-sharing menu but on a smaller plate. Regardless, the ingredients and materials were amazing. It came with an ample load of bread, some jam, two cheese, and 3 types of meat (one prosciutto) and the tastiest grapes ever. The combo of these finely selected items? Mouthwatering and irresistible and i enjoyed every bite with no regrets. What's wrong with me?! It only took me a year in Dublin before I visited the much-coveted F&B wine bar. It did help I have in my possession, a €100 gift voucher though *wiggle* Great underground space, more seats than I expected but definitely come early! All the seats were taken by 7 pm on a rainy Thursday evening... The crostini and dips were to die for, and surprisingly filling (and quite cheap at €7!) The meat and cheese charcuterie board were a bit meh. Wine was excellent and reasonably priced - we had two carafes of the very quaffable pinot blanc. All in all, it came to less than €60... score! A real foodie paradise ! When you walk in the door of Fallon and Byrne and you are greeted with a cornucopia of amazing looking fruit and vegetables presented in the most lovely way. You also know straight away this place isn't going to be cheap - and it's not - but equally it isn't extortionate and they have a really good range of products to fit most budgets and some great lunch deals which they put on Facebook and Twitter each day. Now obviously it's not somewhere I'd be doing my weekly shop - but maybe someday ! I would be here all day if I told you all of the amazing things they have on offer but the general lay of the land is this - a wine bar in the basement / cafe / deli / food hall on the ground floor and restaurant upstairs. They even cater for weddings in the venue on the upper floors. The deli has amazing meat / fish and cheese counters and the staff are really knowledgeable. They have all sorts of food stuffs from all over the world and a great selection of American goodies. The wine bar has an amazing range of over 400 wines that you can buy to take away - if you want to drink one there they add on €10 corkage except on "Happy Mondays" when it is only €1. They have a lovely menu in the wine bar and you can also bring anything from the deli above downstairs if you like. Finally the staff are amazing - really friendly and knowledgeable. I had high expectations for the restaurant upstairs . When you walk in, the place feels like a fancy French modern restaurant. I was hoping to be swept of my feet by the quality of food. We ordered wine, cheese board, cod (app), chicken entree and the burger (with sharp cheddar and bacon). I was utterly disappointed at the food and my fiancé was trying to make me feel better. The wines (by glass) were drinkable to say the most. I think what we enjoyed the most were the cheese board (I can never say no to cheese) which had four different types of cheese, grapes, jam, and plenty of crackers AND the cod which was cooked well yet still moist and flakey. We were not fans of our entrees. The chicken was so dry and felt like it was one of those old chicken meats. The burger was cooked well (which they tell you beforehand) but lacked much flavor and the bun was dry. I took one bite of the fries and it wasn't crispy at all. read more

I just plain adore this place! I love the ground floor as you walk into the food market. The fresh produce and bread followed by a lot of gourmet items you won't find anywhere else. Then there's the food counters with fresh meat, cheese, fish and cold charcuterie meats / pate. There's also a lot of items imported from the USofA :) There's also a cafe area on the ground floor serving fab coffee and pastries. There's a deli counter beside the cafe area that is selling awesome sandwiches. If you buy a sandwich here and the cafe seats are full you can take it to the wine cellar... The wine cellar is serving up great plates such as charcuterie boards or their house chicken liver pate with fresh bread... Their wine list is awesome! Up last on my review but not least is the restaurant. We had lunch here around Christmas. The food was great, good wine and cocktails. The service is also impeccable. My Favorite,Favorite Food Place :) Since my first visit, this has been my favorite place in Dublin city center! Though not everything is Irish, they have such a variety of fruits and vegetables (and they look good in quality)! I often buy tomatoes (even only tomatoes they have plenty kinds!!), paying them by weight. I think the sweetest ones are cherry vine tomatoes. In the food hall there is a place where you can have their freshly cooked foods. This greatly attracts me!! (though it's not a very comfortable space where you can stay longer having a chat, but that's also why this place is easier to use when you are by yourself.) I would like to write up about three things. 1.Sandwiches 2.Delis 3.Sweets and Drinks [ Sandwiches] As you can see on their website, there are many possibilities. What's better is different kinds of breads are used according to the ingredients inside. I had a Turkey Special-- Turkey, ham, lettuce and stuffing with cranberry sauce and mayonnaise, served with brown bap bread. Very nice. The cranberry sauce played such an important role, that it was not an ordinary sandwich. the amount of mayonnaise was a little too much, though. As for bread itself, I don't think it something special (of course the ingredients are reliable, though), but when toasted, the surface had a great great crustiness, oh, perfect sandwich! [Delis] Again they have plenty of selections, difficult to make a choice!! Once I had several kinds of salads, which were generally too oily, I thought, but the one with broccoli and marinated tofu was excellent. also I had Massaman Vegetarian Curry, served with brown rice. It had quite many kinds of root vegetables, and the base flavour was made from coconut milk, so it was not spicy. I definitely loved it. While continuing eating, I felt it a little heavy and too intense, which made me very full, but which didn't bring me a heartburn. [Sweets and Drinks] Their cakes don't look very very sophisticated, but that's why they are nice. In every cake you can see "home-made" and love. I had a Blueberry Muffin with Vanilla Black Tea. Both were satisfying. The muffin was never too fatty and made me happy, with moist texture and comfortable sweetness. This is the end of my review, but let me say one more thing. Every staffs are really nice, even ones in a cashier. That's also why I prefer to buy foods here, not in normal supermarkets. read more

This is where you go to get all of your lovely bits and pieces, probably not the best place to do your full weekly shop! They have a fantastic cheese counter with knowledgeable staff who can make recommendations based on what you like. The fruit & veg section is excellent and has lots of rare things you will struggle to find elsewhere (smoked garlic, medjool dates, graffiti aubergines?). Fruit and veg stacked in boxes, gorgeous pastries on offer, great deli food to take away, a fish counter, a smoothie bar and lots of other things like olives, sweets, chocolate, drinks...the list is endless. Fallon Byrne is an upscale food market that has a delightful cafe on the ground floor. In the corner, at the end of the vegetable aisle, next to the bread, the coffee shop sits about 30 people. I ordered a chai latte which was spicy, creamy and delicious. Prices were average for that area of town and there were a number of sweet treats, although the food is a bit expensive. If you don't mind sipping your coffee in the middle of a food market then you'll like this place. read more

I've got to say I love this place. I've never had the opulent experience that Nora M mentions (although I'm very jealous and would love to go all out at the restaurant) but it's always been a brilliant experience, just the same. I love the deli/cafe area. You can order any of the foods from the deli section and eat them there, so your options aren't confined to the delectable sweets in the display and on the counter. This can actually be a pretty cheap way of sampling the delights of F&B. I managed to pick out a bean and potato salad and an iced tea and only had to part with a fiver. Pretty impressive, considering my friend spent more on her coffee and tart snack, and I was fed for the evening. The grocery section of F&B has an excellent range of gourmet foods - for fellow Aussies out there - it has VEGEMITE!!!! (big plus!) I do like Fallon and Byrne, but I also get the feeling that it views its customers as a little gullible - patsies, if you will, to use the 1920s grifting term. They have some lovely ingredients on their shelves, but some of them are available at Asian supermarkets and ordinary grocery stores for half the price. It is definitely not the place to do your weekly shop - you will be eating foie gras on crackers until the next pay day - but it is a top spot for tricky, hard to find ingredients, antipasti, fresh fruit and veg (some of it exotic) and ready-to-eat meals from the deli counter. Downstairs in the wine cellar, smart, unobtrusive waiters will bring you plates of cheese and meats, which are surprisingly good value. read more
