Was excited to find a place that served something lighter than an Irish breakfast. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were subpar. The latte tasted bitter and watered down -- might be the worst latte I've ever had. We only sipped a fourth of it. I ordered the pancakes, which seemed to be premade. They were not warm and the toppings that I chose, blueberries and strawberries, were sparse. My husband got the sausage sandwich and the casing on the sausage was very tough to bite through without having to peel it off. Loved this place! The best breakfast I had during my entire 1 week trip to Europe. It is so cute and trendy. Lots of instagram worthy shots. I ordered the pancakes with eggs and bananas. I also added a latte. The latte was good but nothing extraordinary. The pancakes thooooo!!! Thick, sweet, with a slightly crispy exterior. Very different from the pancakes in USA. I loved it! My friends agreed! They enjoyed their meals too. I would come back here for sure especially since the employees were so friendly to us. They do have alcohol in case you want to add that to your meal. Pretty expensive but I think it had to do with location? The latte was okay and I tried the Irish Fry with baked beans instead of toast (got charged extra, but that's expected). It was A LOT of food! Overall Value: Definitely would return - really fresh tasting food with good portions, welcoming space, and reasonable prices. We went for lunch, but there breakfast foods look amazing. Also there bread is fantastic (not a shocker, given the name), so need to try their baked goods next time! If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would. The Food: We got the Dublin Coddle (€7.50) and a lentil pie (€9.50). We didn't know what a coddle was, but it is a soup with sausage, potatoes, and a few diced veggies. Good flavors, although it could have been a little bolder. The coddle also came with several pieces of bread with baked cheese, which was fantastic - it stole the show. The bread was so soft and perfect, and the cheese had great flavor. The lentil pie was interesting - not a pie in the sense I was expecting, it was topped with potatoes and cheese. The flavors really came together well. This also came with a side of fresh bread, that again was top notch. Both dishes also came with side salads - very nice portions and excellent quality of ingredients. Salads were scarce during our time in Ireland, and these were much needed. Overall, really enjoyed the food. Space and pace: Really cool decor - bright, lots of baking paraphernalia hanging on the walls, and a welcoming spot for lunch. Their motto is "Food from the heart of Dublin" and that's exactly what it was. The cafe isn't too big, so get their early if you don't want to wait. I loved the decor - pink, friendly, and homey with the rolling pins on the wall. The fresh-squeezed orange juice, mochas, and omelettes were all fantastic! The homemade bread was the best we had in all of Ireland. I also had a piece of the lemon poppyseed bread for "take away" that I didn't share. :) Service was friendly and pretty quick. Coming from NY, brunch is everything. This place did NOT disappoint! Super charming with its picket fence/picnic tables outside and the servers wearing pink aprons. The eggs were GINORMOUS, coffee v fresh, and the fresh baked bread / potatoes to die for. Never met a carb I didn't like.... They have traditional Irish breakfasts, but plenty of simple omelettes and cakes to choose from. To echo another reviewer, The Bakehouse doesn't actually have a lot of baked goods. It's more of a sit down brunch place. I arrived at 9 am on a Friday but they were still getting their ish together, so they only opened at 9 am. I ordered the Bakehouse Grill, which is a spread that comes with a couple of eggs, a pork sausage, bacon, black and white pudding, and a thick hunk of toast with roasted tomatoes - basically, an artery clogging mix on a plate! It was quite delicious though. I admired the toast that was warmed nicely before being served. Although the menu doesn't say you can ask for the eggs scrambled or poached, you can and you should. The food is styled in a homey fashion, i.e. what Paul and Mary from GBBO would call "informal". read more

After 2 weeks of b&b Irish breakfasts before arriving in Dublin, I was going crazy. My husband found this on yelp so we gave it a try. I am sitting here in the restaurant writing this because it was SO GOOD. The service has been amazing- warm, friendly and just attentive enough. The food- what can I say? That chef is amazing. It's a one-man show back there and he's impressive. My husband's poached eggs were perfect. Salmon was spread evenly across the toast and the amount of avocado was perfect. I ordered the pancakes and they are much thicker than most US pancakes but perfect with the blackberry compote and fresh sliced fruit (yes! He sliced the banana and strawberry to make it easier to eat. Thank you!). The syrup was nice and thick. I added bacon which was cooked well (I like super crispy and this was mostly crispy so I was happy). We asked for water and got a huge carafe and big glasses. So happy! I drink tons of water so I really appreciated the carafe so I didn't have to keep asking. We were almost crying with joy at how fresh and lovely the whole experience was. Yay! Thanks yelpers!
