As usual, when I am traveling, I turned to Yelp to help me find great places to eat. And as usual, Yelp Nation steered me right. This place is very small and the staff is super friendly . I ordered a three egg omelette, which comes with your choice of three fillings, but you can add more if you want to for a small extra charge. The omelette was great and I could only eat 2/3 of it so I have lunch later. When I was ordering, Michael, the owner asked me if I wanted toast with my omelette. I asked if they had some wheat bread, and he said "No, you want our homemade soda bread". I said "OK". He was correct to steer me to their homemade soda bread. The toasted soda bread was very very good. I didn't have any coffee or cappuccino but from the number of people that stopped in and took some to go. It must be a good place for coffee and I'm sure their salads at lunch are great. I'm only here for one day and my flight leaves early tomorrow,so I won't be able to go back for breakfast. But I could eat here every day for a week and be happy knowing that I won't find a better breakfast in Dublin. You sit at tables, but order at the counter that has all the fillings for omelettes and salads. They offer a full Irish Breakfast for the people that want to eat the traditional breakfast of Ireland. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food. If you want cheap, go to Burger King, or McDonald's, both of which are 6 blocks down the street. As a person with 2,000,000 miles of travel, who lives in hotels and restaurants, I can highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. The soft jazzy saxophone and contemporary not stereotypical music is great for breakfast. Michael is a delight, serviable, amiable eye candy. Frequented by locals with a splattering of visitors. It was pretty empty mid-day but service was very friendly and I liked the casual cafe atmosphere. If you're like me - where your eyes are sometimes bigger than your stomach - this place is for you! They had smaller AND larger portion options for the Irish breakfast. My boyfriend decided to get a tuna melt (idk why) but he enjoyed that and his latte. I ordered the regular size Irish breakfast to share but it was still super filling and I enjoyed each component. It was shockingly cheap compared to other prices we'd see around the country. This was an amazing find on our fifth day of our stay in Dublin. Quick and very friendly service from Michael the barista, cashier, server (and more). Despite his being busy with a constant flow of patrons, he was cordial to each customer. The food was simple, expedited and delicious. We opted for the omelettes, with it came toast, and coffee or tea as a complete meal. They had a variety of other tasty looking (both sweet and savory) offerings, It's a shame we didn't find it sooner but we'll be back before we leave. I cannot believe I did not write a review about this place when I was here well over a year ago, especially as this was the FIRST place we ate at! We arrived quite early from our flight and waited a couple hours at our hotel (they were accommodating, albeit our room wasn't ready but we could wait in the lobby). I knew this place wasn't terribly far from where we were staying and so around 8 in the morning we walked over. A good sign we're people already in this establishment or stopping by on their way to work. To say the portion sizes were generous is an understatement. They were HUGE, I know I got a full Irish breakfast but it was more than I imagined. I was starving so it hit the spot perfectly. Also, one of my friends also had a full and the owner (I imagine he is) asked if we wanted the homemade bread. If they do this, say Yes. I don't care if it's an extra couple euros, trust me, it's worth it. Others in our group had the pancakes and they looked splendid. A great vibe overall, albeit it is a bit on the small side, but I think it works beautifully and makes it even more charming. You can tell by some of the people there that "this is their spot" as we'd say in America. When I do return to Dublin in the future, I would personally consider going out of my way to come here for breakfast again read more

Good thing The Lovinspoon came through with their Veggie Breakfast (7€)! It was a generous sized portion with baked beans, grilled mushrooms & tomatoes, and a mini pancake, all topped with 2 perfectly fried eggs, and 2 slices of their hefty homemade brown bread on the side. Delicious, and it kept me full for most of my sightseeing day! All of this was served in a homey space by friendly staff. It was my first time trying Ballymaloe relish, and when I asked the server what it was he was nice enough to write the name down for me and even told me where to buy it so I could bring a jar back to the States. Mhhhm-eggs were over cooked (no runny yolk) and was just ok. This place though. Wonderful! They have different size plates for ur ordering. I'm a big man so I got the large breakfast. The portions were plentiful to say the least. My Girl was still asleep when I went so I got her a pastry to go. All together with the meal, coffee & to go pastry was around 15 euros. I was quite full from eating my meal and it was quite delicious. We are moving to a hotel that is closer this weekend and will return with my gf. There are two great places to get cooked breakfasts on the northern fringes of the city centre. One is the Kingfisher on Parnell St, which is to my mind the undisputed best fried breakfast in Dublin, and quite probably, the world. Finishing a very respectable second, though, would be the Lovin Spoon which, apart from anything else, is a pretty cool name for a business on Frederick St. And the breakfast is little short of divine: toast, rashers x2, sausages x 2, egg, mushrooms, pudding, beans and, get this, a pancake! And the food is really good, not the normal shitty sausages you normally get in cafes, really nice meat. And the pancake ensures that that you can mop up any of the grease that the toast missed. Now, before I get too over the top about breakfast at the Lovin Spoon, here's a couple of criticisms. One: the price advertised for the breakfast is €6.50, which I think you'll agree is extremely reasonable. However, tea isn't included in this price (and whoever heard of a breakfast without tea), so in reality the breakfast is €8. Now I'm not objecting to the price, the breakfast is still eight euro very well spent, but it seems kind of sneaky that they advertise it for €6.50 and then catch you with the tea. And another thing, though this just might be food nazi coming out: people, beans constitute no part of an Irish breakfast. I enjoy baked beans as much as the next man, but the addition of beans and chips make it an English breakfast rather than an Irish one. I suppose the addition of the pancake could warrant claims that the Lovin Spoon's breakfast is some bizarre love-bastard, the result of an Franco-Irish breakfast liaison, but I like the pancake so I'll keep my mouth shut. read more

The Lovinspoon is a quirky coffee house/cafe nestled in the north side of Dublin. Appearance wise it is totally a hipster joint with old sewing machine tables and an Infant of Prague wearing sunglasses but the customers all seemed like locals from old guys to young people. Not a hipster in sight! I had the small plate with a pancake instead of toast and it was still more than enough for me and my husband cleaned his big breakfast plate. Everything was cooked fresh and the staff were very friendly. The also randomly had root beer which made me happy! If you are staying around Mountjoy or Parnell square I'd definitely recommend popping in for breakfast! Just note they are cash only. read more

Yes, the toast was the bomb diggity. I know that's strange, but the toast was great and they use thick, multigrain bread.
