The Pepperpot is located inside a atrium mall so do not look for a sign from the street. It's a delightful but odd arrangement. Service is provided at a counter and then they point at a table interspersed around. the second floor of atrium where food is delivered. This gives a bit of a lively ambiance. Our Food was limited to scones and tea. The scone was basically unbelievably good. served with jam made in front of you. read more

Located in an old mansion that has been repurposed into a shopping center that is tucked away of Grafton street. Wasn't what I was expecting- I guess I was expecting an actual restaurant space- this is more of a stand with some tables. It is charming, especially during the holidays the shopping center is very festive and cute. Glad that the search for this cafe took us to check out the Powerscourt town center. As for the food itself, the menu selection is limited but the fluffy eggs and bagel sandwich selections are great- if you're looking for a lighter, more simple breakfast, this is a great spot. read more

Hidden inside a building, super cute gem. Loved the seating and area. It was crowded for a weekday, but we got seated within 5-10 minutes. Our waitress was a little aloof and didn't understand what we were asking for.. but we got it after the 4th time. Plus it was SUPER cold there.. so I sat with my jacket on the whole time. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a bagel. It was basically a bagel with scrambled eggs, but it was DELICIOUS! Super messy, but completely worth it. Boyfriend had the salmon bagel sandwich and also loved it. We shared a scone and it was great. Highly recommend checking this place out! read more

Had a very lovely salad here yesterday. Strawberries, rocket, toasted halloumi, and (as requested as an extra by myself), bacon, with a kind of a tangy dressing on top. It was really, really good. Not an awful lot in it though (only three small bits of halloumi, and maybe the guts of two strawberries cut up), so definitely not worth the tenner price tag. It also came with the inclusion of some surprise cucumber which I wasn't too enamoured with! It's a lovely setting though, looking down over Powerscourt, drinking out of cute china, with the rain pouring on the glass ceiling above. I would go back and try something else, but just hope to get more bang for my buck next time! read more

We discovered this gem on a food tour. They make small batch, homemade bagels which truly do rival New York's. We tried a bagel sandwich with bacon and cream cheese - weird combo but it totally works. I also had a delicious scone with jam and cream. It was good, but maybe a bit dense for a scone. I also sampled a bite of my boyfriends red pepper and goat cheese sandwich. First of all, it was colossal. It was good, but needed something else other than just those ingredients - it was too much goat cheese and a bit dull. I struggled with the downgrade to a 3 but let me at least justify. 1. Squeezed in beside another 2 seater. So close we could have been family. 2. Banged against and coat walked on. Such a wonderful location, great friendly staff, super tasty variety of foody stuffs with unbeliveable desserts and coffee. I had the pulled pork, apple slaw with an incredible tangy relish. This is where Chompys was... a long time ago with their spectacular Chicken soup... I have fond memories! Now its the Pepperpot cafe and is likewise a fine place to dine but probably better for coffee (which is very good) and a slice of cake. This is a very good staple in my lunchtime go-tos. Always consistent, this is a spot that will always deliver, which is especially good if you are hungover or in a rush and don't have the mental capacity to think outside the box of where to go. The setting is great. I love South William Street for its people-watching qualities, and though this is inside; somehow it still manages to capture that (I recommend you get a seat by the railings if you can, as opposed to the tables one over). As for the food, it is all pretty solid. Their scrambled eggs are what they are known and best loved for; I get mine with Parmesan cheese for fifty cent extra. The sandwiches are also great. If you are watching the cash (though everything is actually really well priced, especially for the portions) the daily soup, which is always delicious accompanied by the really beautiful homemade brown bread is staggeringly good value at four euro fifty. All in all, this is a great contender for one of the best lunchtime spots in the city, with a nice relaxed atmosphere and bright and airy feel it is a very solid choice. The reason it lost a star here, is because the coffee is quite bad and I wouldn't recommend it AT ALL. Luckily though, every comforting dish they have on their menu is perfectly suited to a big cup of tea. read more

This place has charm aplenty. Despite the fact that it's inside the Powerscourt shopping centre (which made it a bit hard to find!), you don't get the feeling that you're in a cramped shopping centre. Tucked away upstairs among some shops, they have still managed to make this place really cosy and welcoming. With the open service counter and the kitchen peaking behind amongst the tables you get a feel straight away for the type of place this is, with it's country-meets-modern style kitchen. So that's the ambience, then there's the menu. They served a drink of the week which this week was a Rhubarb, mint & lime lemonade which was pretty heavenly, perfect for a relaxing Saturday morning brunch. My friend ordered a herbal tea with her brunch and that was great too - came in a large blue teapot which was both super lovely and to say the serving was generous would be an understatement, that thing was just huge! Meals were great too, I had scrambled eggs with mushroom and smoked salmon which was done very well and was delicious, friends had a variety of salads, eggs and toast and we were all delighted by the tastiness and the presentation. Served in a variety of mismatched crockery added to the feeling you were eating in your Nan's country kitchen and just added to the positive vibe. Staff were friendly and the service was relatively fast, though they did bring out the wrong order for me at first, but were apologetic and quick to rectify. To cap it all off, we were delighted with the soundtrack of chilled out feel good 90s tunes playing softly in the background coming from the centre. It was a great way to kick off our day. read more

Tables are a little bit small and awkwardly spaced but a nicely unusual spot to eat in, overlooking another food spot and shopping area. Who thought that flavor combination would be good? Pear and bacon? You recall the first time you heard about it, thinking that the bizarre concoction was the work of a deranged mind. The little building of shops where it loves is just lovely, and I love the little grouping of cafe style seating on the deck/walkway overlooking the rest of the courtyard. We each got something different, and we all tried everyone else's whatever, and each time you'd think - that's the best right there - until you tried the next thing, and so on. This place is one of my favourite brunch spots around town. It can be found in what is, in my opinion, the most beautiful building in Dublin - Powerscourt Centre. It serves a great mix of homely lunch/brunch dishes and drinks that seem to be consistently great. I tend to opt for anything with meat in it and there are plenty of options to be had here. The sausage sandwich in particular is the pinnacle of what a sausage sandwich can be. The bread is so fluffy you won't want to let it go! The drink specials are incredible too, these seem to change often but they've never let me down. If you're looking for a new brunch spot around the south side then give this place a shot. read more

I wish we could give half stars because it's hard to rate a place when there is a huge discrepancy between the food and the experience! It was my first time in the Pepperpot café, I usually avoid the centre due to the amount of noise but this place was cosy and the noise did not get to me as much. Let's start with the positive: the food! I had a brie and pesto tart with onion chutney and my friend had a salmon bagel. Both were highly enjoyable, the tart in particular was close to heavenly. The coffee was nice, the service slow but attentive. The portions were very small, much too small to even make a dent in your lunch hunger. The prices however are big. Even with the small slice of carrot cake I got for dessert I was still famished and my wallet was over 15 euro lighter. The tart was the size of a dessert tartelette and was no more than 1.5 cm thick, it came with only salad and a spoon of chutney. To make matters worse we wanted to pay but were told it is cash only, which is irritating and inconvenient, especially when you discover it right before going. It should be the first thing they say and they should have more obvious signs (I didn't see any but it doesn't mean they weren't there). To sum up, I don't think I can justify going back, it's just too expensive. read more

I've been here twice and both times I've ordered the pear and bacon sandwich. This sandwich is easily one of the best I've ever had in Dublin. Pear and bacon may sound like a strange combination but it works. The bread they use tastes like it just came out of the oven and the sandwich is rounded off with some nice lettuce and whole grain mustard. The desserts here are also worth trying. The café can be a bit of a tight squeeze when it comes to space but you get a nice view of the rest of the Powerscourt Townhouse from where you sit. read more

I really like this place. The location on the first floor of Powerscourt is great: plenty of natural light, better acoustics than the ground floor, and an excellent spot to watch the world go by. The food is creative, tasty and brought to you by the ever so smiley and helpful staff. I've been there a few times now for tea time or for a late breakfast / lunch and I haven't been disappointed once. Just one gripe, though: your French toast slices need to be thinner, or to be soaked in the egg mixture longer! The inside was dry and with slices as thick as this, it turns it into a stuffy choky thing and not the warm golden moist wonder that it should be. I do recommend the Pepperpot heartily despite of that. It's a fab spot. read more

I wouldn't necessarily be casually doing my shopping in the expensive boutiques of the Powerscourt Centre, but I always make a detour for this lovely wee spot. Great people watching opportunities! The menu offers a wide variety to choose from, but not an excessive amount of options that takes you forever to decide! It all fits neatly on the menu card, and the tarts/soups/drink change daily, so ask for the specials from your server. Try the creamy scrambled eggs, they're very filling, and are served on hot, buttery toast, mmmm! The menu prides itself on local and seasonal produce, and that really becomes apparent when you read it, but not in a snobbish, faddy way. The genuine passion is reflected in the food, and it always has been consistently good when I've visited, be it a mid-week lunch, or weekend brunch. The food is served on a quirky selection of vintage crockery, picked up from vintage shops and markets. The style of the decor is fun and spontaneous, it doesn't feel like carefully studied twee - despite the amount of florals and polkadots! It is a real pleasure to eat here. They are now doing evening supper clubs, so keep an eye on their facebook page. Importantly - there is always something for vegetarians and vegans to choose from. Finally, before I end my love letter to this gorgeous place - I can't recommend the German hot chocolate enough! Unique setup here, it's literally on the walkway on the mezzanine level (? If that's even an actual thing) of Powerscourt centre. It's really a nice atmosphere, whatever sun Dublin can muster streams in through the glass ceiling while the bustle of clinking glasses and silverware meshes with a conversational buzz throughout the place. We couldn't decide between breakfast and lunch so got the bean salad as well as a bagel with poached egg - neither was particularly mindblowing, but it wasn't bad either. Coffees were a step above decent too. Waiting time was decent to be seated - about 15-20 minutes on a Thursday morning around 10 - but once seated we didn't see too much of our server and had to flag her down once or twice for water refill and to order. We also just went up and paid at the counter after not receiving our bill for 10 minutes so not sure if that's the usual protocol here but that's how we did it. All in all the experience was okay - I wouldn't drag my feet going back but if left to myself would probably pick another place nearby first. read more

Really popular with the city centre crowd at lunch-time especially the fashion-industry peeps. Almost always bump into a friend or two when I am here or walk by here, as the cafe/seating is outside on a corridor. I like the sound of their sandwiches and salads, but alas apart from one salad, I haven't tasted much else of their savouries due to very little veggie or bacon/chorizo-free options.
