Great service, great drinks, great food! Our server Thalia was kind and explained everything to us as we've never eaten a Boxty before. She check back in on us throughout dinner to make sure all was good. Shepherds pie was amazing. The potatoes were perfect!

I made a reservation online and got seated immediately when we got there. We had a cool window seat overlooking the street. We got the Parmesan boxty fries and the chicken boxty. The fries were crispy, thin, and came with a great aïoli. I loved the chicken boxty! Chicken was well cooked and came with a cream sauce. Service was quick. So glad I saw this on Somebody Feed Phil and could come try it myself!

I had heard of the Boxty House from the hit show "Somebody Feed Phil" and decided I had to try it. I got the Chicken Boxty and a side of Parmesan fries. I loved it! The boxty was extremely flavorful and a fun way to explore Irish cuisine. The Parmesan fries are a great combo, and the sauce they use on them is especially good. Additionally, our food was served super fast!

We had dinner here in our first night in Dublin and WOWIE!-What a great dinner! We bypassed the line and made reservations, they were super easy to make on open table. The staff was super friendly and it was our first time having boxty potatoes. We ordered a little of everything and it did not disappoint. The only thing that could have been a little better was the sticky toffee pudding but that was small potatoes in the grand scheme of the rest of the meal. I'd say the values is good for what you are getting and we left full. The ambiance was great but felt homey and warm and when we go back to Dublin, we will 100% be back.

Not so secret gem of a restaurant. We ate here four times during our stay in Dublin. First thing I got was a full Irish breakfast which comes with three different types of sausage including black pudding (blood sausage). The thing this place is known for as you could probably tell from the name of the restaurant is the boxty pancake. The boxty pancake is basically a pancake made out of potato. This is naturally gluten free and was popular back in the mid 18th century. It has made a resurgence as of late with the popularization of Irish culture. Another dish we ordered was the boxty sampler. Typically, you can only order this after 2pm I want to say however they were nice enough to make it for us I believe twice by request. It has boxty fries, boxty dumplings swimming in garlic and a sweet tangy sauce, two different boxty breads that have some really special fixings on them. We also got a side order of colcannon, which is kale, mashed potatoes, and a generous portion of butter mixed into the dish. Dessert here is nothing to sneeze at either, they have a delectable Bailey's Irish Cheesecake with blueberries on top. It tasted like they were generous with the Bailey's in it as well as I could definitely taste the alcohol, so maybe don't get it if you are on the wagon. I also have to mention one of the servers here is named Michael. He is great and gave us the recommendation to try Bar 1661 which was voted one of the top 10 best bars in the world. He gave me an introduction to what Poitin is and how it only became legal recently in Ireland, and also had a wealth of knowledge of all the Irish foods that people around the world should try when they visit. This place I will miss now that I am back in the states, but o the memories, I will always have them, also I have the calories that I brought back with me as well! As always people SYOY!!!

This review is written months late, but it would be remiss of me to not do a Yelp review. The Boxty House is one of the few places I think about in my time in Ireland due to my great experience there. Yes, it may be a little pricey, but the Boxty House has tradition rooted in it, and is also a well-known place in Dublin to have traditional Irish cuisine. What we had: -Atlantic Seafood Chowder- comes with stout and treacle bread. There's a nice amount of vegetables (carrots and celery) and two mussels in there. The chowder consistency reminds me of a soup more than a thick chowder. -Gach Rud (Gok-Rudd): Irish lamb stew, Gaelic boxty, corn beef boxty dumplings, boxty bead, and boxty fries. If you want to try a little bit of everything, this is what you should get! I liked the corn beef boxty dumplings the most since it had a soft and chewy texture. -Turkey & Ham Wellington- small portion. -Sticky toffee pudding- The pudding was delicious but the ice cream was the most memorable part of the meal. One thing I noticed is that Khruangbin was playing throughout the restaurant the entire time we were there. No complaints. Whoever was on DJ is a person of taste and kept the good vibes going. Not sure if Ethan still works there, but he was our server and it was nice having a conversation with him about Irish history! He knows his stuff and we learned a lot about how boxty came to be, as well as how Ireland's economy has been on the rise.

Stopped by here on my way to The Temple Bar for some food and it did not disappoint! The chicken boxty had this incredible sauce (always get the sauce) that made the dish creamy and delicious and had some sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Service can be a bit rushed here but it's probably just because of the area, would come back!

Super cute cozy setting in the Temple area. The Beer flight was a good way to try their beer made on site. For me, the lager & ipa were really good. Buffalo cauliflower to start really hit the spot- huge portion, great dipping sauce. The Gaelic sirloin boxty was the classic thing to try. The beef was shockingly tender, not tough. (A boxtie is like a chunky potato pancake fyi) Dessert was great too - stcky toffee pudding! Classic Irish spot, elevated!

I was here in October of 2023 and stopped in again last week with my daughter.. My friends, who had been on the trip with me in 2023, told my daughter that this was the best place they had eaten in all of Ireland. I agreed and made reservations. My daughter loved it! We had a wonderful evening with great service, thank you Oogee. For drinks my daughter ordered Debbie Doesn't Like It, and I ordered a Summer Breeze. She had the Salmon Boxty and was blown away by how good it was. I had the Lamb Boxty, which was truly scrumptious. Take it from me, if you are going to Dublin, have dinner here but make sure you make a reservation because they are always busy.

This place is unassuming and casual, but the quality of our meal was amazing for the price. Try the fixed price menu deal where you get a starter, main dish and dessert for 45 EUR. The wine selection by the glass is small, but fine. They serve cocktails and beer also. The food was fabulous! Unbelievably delicious beef medallion boxty in mushroom and pepper whiskey sauce with vine ripe broiled tomatoes. Our salad was wonderful with a maple syrup and mustard dressing, green pears and Cashel blue cheese with roasted walnuts and frisée. Really wonderful. The bread and butter pudding was good...a little on the plain side, but the rich ice cream and raisins made it solid. I may dream about the whiskey sauce tonight. It rocked! We are looking up how to make it right now if that tells you anything. Excellent service!

Thank you, Yelp for helping us find the Boxty House in Temple Bar Dublin, for a great authentic Irish dinner. Authentic Irish restaurant with historic decor. Nice bar area if you just want a drink. We tried the Cauliflower bites 5/5, boxty fries 5/5 very good spice bag seasoning served with curry lime mayo, a Bulmer's pint of cider, the Gaelic Boxty 5/5, a traditional Irish dish that was surprisingly delicious which comes with fillet beef medallions, boxty dumplings and a mushroom whiskey sauce and tobacco onions. For dessert we had to try the sticky toffee pudding 5/5 and the baileys cheesecake 5/5. Mike L was a great server that had some good menu suggestions, ask for him, if he is available.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

Menu has a good selection of Irish dishes from seafood chowder up to lamb stew and pies. We ordered the potato soup, seafood chowder, 'banjo' burger with onion rings. The soups arrived first and the seafood chowder was loaded with huge pieces of fish, potatoes (not many) with a creamy rich base. Flavor was incredible and in itself a full meal. Served in a large crock style bowl. The potato soup was minus any whole potatoes. It was a rich creamy base with plenty of flavor and very hearty. The burger was really a double cheeseburger with plenty of cheese, grilled onions, what appeared to be a mayonnaise based sauce on a soft hamburger roll. Really tall enough that it was tough getting your mouth around it. Very well seasoned burgers and the onions were a nice touch. The onion rings were huge and had a very light batter on them. They served in a metal bowl to keep them hot. For dessert the apple crumble was ordered which was served in a large dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This could have been warmer but still was good.. The 5 star rating is for the chowder as it outshone the rest of the meal although the burger was definitely a close second. Definitely will return to try other dishes when we come back to the city.

The meat and veggies were plentiful, the portion generous, and it was tasty enough but maybe on the bland side? It was served with a side of braised red cabbage which we really liked: sweet but not sour like pickled cabbage. And house-made brown stout bread, also very good. The wife had a Guinness and I, thinking it too cliché to order Guinness as a tourist in Ireland, tried a different stout whose name I've forgotten from the ample selection. But comparing the two, so much better! The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Irish dishes, more than most of the similar pubs in the area. As well as the other expected pub type food: sandwiches, burgers, etc. As for desserts, if we were hungrier, the wife might have ordered the Irish Whiskey Bread & Butter Pudding. The hubby would probably get his dessert later, as the selection was limited and neither that nor the Apple Crumble appealed. Sitting at the bar we had a more personalized experience than were we at a table. The bartender offered to take a photo of me behind the bar which I of course accepted. We made the right choice in coming here.

Our first meal in Dublin was at The Old Mill Restaurant, right in the heart of Temple Bar. After about a 20-minute wait, we were seated in the warm, inviting dining room. Susan ordered the mussels, one of her favorites, while I went with the Traditional Irish Stew and my daughter chose the Braised Beef & Guinness Stew. I finally understood why the Guinness stew had such a rich, dark color, and I have to admit, I came home a big fan of Irish stew. We finished with the Homemade Bread & Butter Pudding topped with fresh cream and custard, a comforting dessert that was the perfect ending to the meal. Service, atmosphere, value, and food were all five out of five. We also enjoyed chatting with the floor manager, whose pride in the restaurant and his team was obvious.
