When we're traveling, we typically try to only go to any business once. Why? So much to see! So much food to try! We broke this rule with The Bald Barista. It was just that good. The first day we arrived to Dublin, I had a bit of a headache. I sent my husband in search of coffee and a bite in the hopes of warding off the headache. He brought back a tuna melt and mocha from The Bald Barista. Both were excellent. The tuna melt was herbaceous and flavorful and the mocha was the perfect blend or rich chocolate and strong espresso. So, a few days later when my mom arrived and was hoping for coffee and a bite, I said--I've got just the place! On that visit, we enjoyed our coffee and food in house. You order at the counter where you enter and if you're dining in, you simply take the stairs to the dining room and they'll bring you both your food and coffee. This time, I ordered the same coffee (why mess with a good thing) and a yogurt with everything (fruit, nuts, seeds--the works!). The shop itself is cute, warm, and inviting. The service is top notch with beautifully friendly folks working in here (including the Bald Barista himself). If you're in Dublin and are looking for an exemplary cuppa and some tasty bites served with a smile--this is your spot. Get to it! read more

THIS is a coffee house. When I arrived early to Dublin, after a sleepless flight in, I was desperate for caffeine. I had done my research beforehand and knew BB was near my hotel. I ordered a delicious Caramel Latte and, after one sip, knew I wouldn't bother with a hotel breakfast during my stay. BB is two floors of super cool. Friendly staff, a literal bald barista (best marketing ever?), solid java, and truly delicious pastries - I was in heaven. The restroom is on the second floor and does require a pass code. Indoor and outdoor seating available but get in line, place your order, and keep it moving because there is likely a line. Coffee shops abound in Dublin, I've learned. But if I'm lucky enough to ever return to the Emerald Isle, I already know where I'm going for a delicious cup of joe. read more

I'm very happy I decided to stop in here for a quick breakfast this morning! This is a great spot for breakfast and lunch with a good sized menu featuring breakfast staples like eggs on toast, porridge, a full Irish, etc., as well as plentiful sandwiches, wraps, and paninis for lunch. The star of the show is, of course, their coffee! I ordered a cappuccino (pictured), and was delighted when I received it with Enjoy written on top! The coffee was very good, and I ordered the scrambled eggs on toast as well which were simple but tasty. They have an upstairs area for seating, as well as outdoor seating for a nice day, so plenty of spots to sit down and enjoy. The seating area is not overly decorated, but that's no bother for me. I'm looking forward to returning here to try some more of their offerings in the future. read more

According to our tourist guide the best coffee in Dublin - expectations were huge... Unfortunately expectations were not met. Genuinely can't say enough about how great this place is - as a regular you get to see even more of the passion Buzz (the Bald Barista himself!) has for his craft. He loves to chat to customers about "everything and nothing," as he puts it, and you can tell he just loves to be a positive part of people's days. The coffee is exceptional. Always quality, always presented well (some people complain that the art on cappuccinos etc is done with chocolate syrup but I think it's one of the great quirky things about the place), and the sizes are substantial without breaking the bank! It's genuinely one of my fave places in Dublin, always leaves me feeling great that somewhere in the city there is a place like this - where random strangers can have a 5-minute break from the routine, chat, and chuckle, all while coming out the other side with a delicious caffeinated beverage for the rest of the day. Even when Buzz himself isn't there, the girls are fab for the drinks and it's still a great break from the grind. read more

I've stopped here twice for a bite to eat and tea. Both times, the ladies behind the counter have been exceptionally sweet and chatty, noticing the regulars and making conversation with them. The first time I ordered a mozzarella and tomato panini on seeded bread, which was delicious. More recently, I got a veggie sandwich. This is all my fault, but I had misread the sign and it turned out that the sandwich had goat cheese, which I despise. It tainted my experience but again, no fault on the part of the cafe itself. They have plenty of seating inside in the raised area, and seats outside as well. I sat out and read/people watched- there's plenty to see on Aungier. When the owner makes Americano it may be the best I had. When others make it - not so much. Cappuccino is not very good. Breakfast is pretty good. Free wifi for 20 min. The best part of this store is it's open early (8am) on weekends unlike other who don't open until 10am. read more

Went here for coffee and toast the other day at 5am (on night duty so dinnertime becomes breakfast time). The coffee is delicious, i am a creature of habit so I generally only stick with Americano / Coconut cappuccino... They offer a range of coffees and cakes with the option for eating in / take out.
