We made it back for a dinner and we were not disappointed. The food here is really divine. I had a splendid piece of salmon with some exquisite horseradish garnish. A tasty and fresh blue cheese salad with beets and walnuts. My co diners had the burger and the steak dishes. Everything was perfect, fresh and tasty. We then all saved room for some wonderful desserts. I would definitely recommend this spot. Reservations seem to be necessary though we made ours the same day. The inside is so charming - being there at Christmas it was extra lovely with some beautiful accents for Christmas.

Stop reading this review and call and make a reservation. This place requires reservation to eat there! Tables fill up quickly even on a regular Sunday afternoon. The restaurant closes at 2pm on Sundays. I can't describe the amazing flavors and textures you get from the dishes here. You have to come here and try it for yourself. We ordered off the brunch menu and everything was spot on. Chicken in the Steamed Bao was so tender! This one was off the dim sum menu. The eggs Benedict on bread was perfectly cooked. Salmon and avocado salad very fresh and tasty. The oysters on the half shell with the vinegar sauce, so fresh. Personally loved the lentil soup or soup of the day. If I am ever in Vermont, I for sure will make a point to eat here again.

I returned to Burdick's to attend the October fest celebration. Food was better than the regular menu but still left me wanting better. We started with Potato Pancakes which were crispy on the edges but greasy in the middle..sisters shared sauerbraten and Chicken Livers which they enjoyed.. I had the wurst plate which was eff. Chef's problem was the dishes was served in a large bowls with all side items buried around and under which made it one big mash of food. Won't see us again til they update the existing menu

Burdick's is still a fine restaurant with delicious food, friendly servers and a style that at once, somehow, successfully combines a casual atmosphere with the feel of fine dining. Pretty nifty, huh? To be truthful, though, we dined there last week outdoors under their nice tent, so everything was definitely on the casual side. And so was our order -- cauliflower soup, a salad and a chicken sandwich. We loved all the dishes but the sop was especially piquant and so pleasingly flavored. Our waitress was a gem, and we enjoyed some conversation with our neighboring diners. Burdick's is on the pricey side, even for lunch. And bear in mind that you need a reservation for every meal. It's the best food in this area and well worth a visit.

Solid Restaurant in an unexpected location. We have family that live nearby so whenever we come to visit we usually end up having lunch at the restaurant at burdick and it never disappoints. We are there before thanksgiving and the sea bass special on a pepper sauce was excellent. The gnocchi with sausage was another winner as was the potato crusted salmon and the onion soup starter was a big hit with everyone. Great place to have a nice meal in a semi casual environment that knows how to prepare a solid entree. Well done Ken B well done....

A little culinary gem located in the picturesque New Hampshire town of Walpole, next to Burdicks Chocolates. The food was very good and service friendly and professional. We had the bone morrow and poached pear with goat cheese as an appetizer. Both were fantastic. For lunch we had roast chicken, Branzino, and hanger steak. They don't have any truly adventurous menu offerings, but what they do make they execute masterfully. For dessert we hopped next door for some take out cakes that were phenomenal. Well worth a visit and if you are in the area don't miss stopping here.

Beautiful little restaurant in a charming New Hampshire town. The food was mixed. We started with a tomato and black bean soup, which was really tasty. My friend had the vegetarian special, which was a sautéed mix of seasonal veggies. A little plain, but she said it was good. My aunt had the fried catfish and chips. Frankly, the batter was flavorless. Not sure if it was missing salt, or what, it it just wasn't good. The fries, however, were outstanding! Thin and perfectly crispy. I had the quiche Lorraine with a small green salad on the side. It was good, but be warned, very, very rich. The service was overall good, except that if the waitress had checked in on us after the meals were delivered, we could have asked for salt and pepper, and then the fish might have been better. But she didn't. But it was good enough that I'd definitely go back.

Hot chocolate dessert - nice and thick - akin to a Mexican hot chocolate.

We visited this winery in early June and did their tasting. They had a tent and seats set up outside. It was a nice set up and I forget who was there, but he was really nice. We tried a variety wine and actually liked a few of them. So we decided to buy a couple bottles, a Merlot and a Summit Rose. It was definitely amazing that their wines were good and nicely priced. Not to mention buying a bottle waives tasting fees. We had a great time and came back home with a couple bottles. Then, we put the bottles away on our wine rack along with 10+ other bottles. Now, we are not connoisseur of wine but we are definitely not new to wines and proper storage. We lived in San Francisco in proximity to the Napa Valley and were part of multiple winery memberships for a year or more. With that in mind, let's continue. Fast forward to early August when we decided to open the Merlot. We instantly knew something was wrong when we uncorked the wine bottle and it was fizzing at the top. We thought maybe that was what was supposed to happen although we had NEVER seen a non-sparkling red do that, so I tried a sip and instantly knew it was bad. But the bottle was perfectly fine and didn't see any cracks. So how could it be? We chalked it up to bad luck and picked out another wine we brought from San Francisco to enjoy the evening. Then, we decided we would try the Summit Rose this past Friday, so when I went to grab the bottle, I noticed a very small pool of wine underneath the mouth of the bottle. Then, I tracked it down to the Summit Rose. As you see in the photo, there's wine oozing out of the foil. And as I opened the foil to examine the cork, I saw that the top of the cork was stained and that there was a trail going from inside the bottle along the cork/bottle to the outside where it could have spilled out of. I decided to put it upside down on white paper to see if it'll spill and indeed, it did. Then, I left it out upright overnight and found some wine on the topside. Looks like some kind of pressure built up from inside for whatever reason and pushed some wine out the top. All in all, I want to reiterate that we had a GREAT experience at the winery. The outside seating (although inside looked cool but due to the current situation it was unavailable), the one staff pouring the wine and the wine themselves were all pretty good. But looks like I hit the bad luck jackpot and ended up getting 2 bad bottles.

We were impressed from start to finish. Peter, our waiter, was friendly and chatty (without being too chatty), which we really appreciated, and he definitely nailed small-town Vermont charm. One of us ordered the Salty Chihuahua drink. It was tasty and very well priced. One of us started with a small green salad which was loaded with olives and feta- yum!! There was not a single bite of food that wasn't delicious. It blew us away. We ordered three entrees: chicken sliders, grande salad, and a special: the summer squash skillet, which we added meatballs to. We will be talking about and figuring out what was in those meatballs for years to come. The dishes were on the smaller side, but the prices reflect the amazing quality of the food. We are three New Yorkers with lots of opinions and high standards when it comes to what we eat. Brix exceeded those standards. Drive 5 minutes over the state line to Putnam's in White River Junction, Vermont for that sommelier-staffed experience. Love the ambience and rigorous focus on elevated, quality ingredients, at Putnam's. They have a corkboard-covered 3-ring binder menu which is aptly named a Field Guide. Trust me, this name is earned by the Tasting Notes alone. The field guide is like a thesis for advanced Upper Valley sippers, Vermont or not. If you forgot your book or paper, just saddle up to the Putnam's Field Guide. You'll find an elaborate offering of editorial descriptions of beverages from wine to martinis (6 kinds) to beer and whiskey (one from Japan). Btw, it's rare to find a wine bar that doubles as a gorgeous coffeehouse serving pastries, espresso-based drinks, teas and breakfast sandwiches on weekends. I'm looking forward to enjoying them sometime if I'm back. The offering at Putnam's Vineyard rotates seasonally, so I will describe what was there on my visits. Visit their website for updated menu surprises. As for the evening and weekends Fall menu, they call their offering Picnic Food. It's a modest title for an extensive offering of appetizers and a few sandwiches. Think fancied-up olives, pretzels, Brazilian cheese puffs, a craft beer mix, 2 melty sammies with Vermont cheeses (1 with turkey, the other veggies), beet and chevre arancini, dips and a vast selection of desserts. Vermont cheeses, apricots, Marcona almonds, dried apricots and crostini are looking divine on the cheese board. Oh, and there's also Superbon Madrid potato chips with Osetra caviar and a mini spirit of Gaston Chiquet champagne. Just saying. There is also a weekend brunch menu with bagels and egg sandwiches. As for the wine, I recommend a flight at Putmam's. In the fall season, these flight offerings were named: the Bella Blanca Wine Flight, the Falling Leaves Mixed Wine Flight, Fireside Reds Red Wine Flight, The Forgotten Bunches Mixed Wine Flight and the almighty and an unforgettable Sparkler Flight. In this flight, I slowly savoured 3 wine sparklers at $25 total. (And no, I cannot spell savour without a "u.") These wine flights are a true value. And here are the wines in the sparkler flight: 1.) Cava 2021 by Avinyó 2.) Crémant de Bourgogne Sparkling Brut Rosé NV by Albert Bichot 3.) Lambrusco by Villa Castellazo ROTA The Cava is everything. All three were delightful and I showed up needing warm fuzzies on an evening where there was live music so the total experience was extra lovely. There is also a whiskey flight! The coffee and craft beverages selection for the fall/winter menu includes a nitro cold brew, a brown butter latte with Maldon sea salt and biscotti and a FROLA New Orleans style cold brew slushie with maple syrup and coconut cream. To any craft and coffee beverage you can add Vermont Ice Cream Coffee Liqueur or Whistle Pig Piggy Back Bourbon. Yes, please. If you are making a trip of it, catch the local bbq joint across the way from Putnam's at lunch and then visit the wine bar for drinks. Layer up, because I've been nippy there twice, and then linger over one delightful beverage after the next. Oh, and there is a charming wine shop at Putnam's with handmade gifts to peruse, as well.
