Great local winery with a big assortment. Humble, pleasant, polite and enjoyable team!

TLDR; We had a great time at the winery and enjoyed the wines. The two bottles of wine we had bought seemed to have been improperly bottled where one went bad and the other had wine leaking out from the cork. We visited this winery in early June and did their tasting. They had a tent and seats set up outside. It was a nice set up and I forget who was there, but he was really nice. We tried a variety wine and actually liked a few of them. So we decided to buy a couple bottles, a Merlot and a Summit Rose. It was definitely amazing that their wines were good and nicely priced. Not to mention buying a bottle waives tasting fees. We had a great time and came back home with a couple bottles. Then, we put the bottles away on our wine rack along with 10+ other bottles. Now, we are not connoisseur of wine but we are definitely not new to wines and proper storage. We lived in San Francisco in proximity to the Napa Valley and were part of multiple winery memberships for a year or more. With that in mind, let's continue. Fast forward to early August when we decided to open the Merlot. We instantly knew something was wrong when we uncorked the wine bottle and it was fizzing at the top. We thought maybe that was what was supposed to happen although we had NEVER seen a non-sparkling red do that, so I tried a sip and instantly knew it was bad. But the bottle was perfectly fine and didn't see any cracks. So how could it be? We chalked it up to bad luck and picked out another wine we brought from San Francisco to enjoy the evening. Then, we decided we would try the Summit Rose this past Friday, so when I went to grab the bottle, I noticed a very small pool of wine underneath the mouth of the bottle. Then, I tracked it down to the Summit Rose. As you see in the photo, there's wine oozing out of the foil. And as I opened the foil to examine the cork, I saw that the top of the cork was stained and that there was a trail going from inside the bottle along the cork/bottle to the outside where it could have spilled out of. I decided to put it upside down on white paper to see if it'll spill and indeed, it did. Then, I left it out upright overnight and found some wine on the topside. Looks like some kind of pressure built up from inside for whatever reason and pushed some wine out the top. All in all, I want to reiterate that we had a GREAT experience at the winery. The outside seating (although inside looked cool but due to the current situation it was unavailable), the one staff pouring the wine and the wine themselves were all pretty good. But looks like I hit the bad luck jackpot and ended up getting 2 bad bottles. read more

These wines were young and fresh, however that's not always a good thing. Many of the whites and reds seemed to need another few months to a year in the tank/barrel to take the edge off, soften the nose and just taste better for the 'quality to price' point. We did buy 2 bottles, 1 of Moscato for my father who isn't a wine drinker (or any alcohol for that matter) except for an occasional sickly-sweet wine or cocktail. We ended up with Summit White, as I'm hoping it pairs with a turkey-based meal. The tastings aren't free, they are $6 for 6 wines. They have 12 wines total and there were 2 of us... so we alternated the pours to taste all 12. However, if you purchase a bottle, the fee is waived. The tasting price is a a dollar or two high, especially since there isn't a lot of local competition, but I do understand that they can't just keep giving out free wine. Our creds: my husband and I aren't novices in wine tastings, we've been to over 30 wineries/vineyards (in the Northeast, TX, AZ, CO) and our local liquor store has 2 'grand tasting' events a year with 200+ bottles from 18+ distributors. read more

We just moved to the area last week. This is a nice looking place and initial service was fine. Some of the wines were enjoyable (we got a flight). We were planning on buying a bottle of their version of chianti as we enjoyed that. However we were completely ignored for about 20 minutes following our empty tasting flight. People to the immediate left and right of us were served while we sat with empty flight. We were essentially one of the last people left sitting at the bar at the time (literally 2 other people at that moment) after those around us left. 5 star winery. Went to a wedding shower there last night and all I can say is that these owners are doing it right ! What a beautiful job they did decorating it with table,chairs and table cloths. They even have a huge deck where you can go outside and sit or stand and enjoy your wine and look at the beautiful scenery of Stratton mountain ! The view in itself is 5 stars. A beautiful place to propose for marriage or just to sit and enjoy one of there home made wines. They have multiple kinds of both red and white. We had Kristen's catering from Keene NH cater the event. It is one of the best food caterers I have ever had ! Job well done ! The owners of the winner has a wonderful employee who served wine to all the guests behind a absolutely stunning wine bar. They do have a choice of beer,bud light or PBA if your not into wine and the people you bring are. Make sure you check there hours of operation because they aren't open every day. I have to say that this place is great to .eet friends or family to gon and sit and relax and enjoy there wine. They sell the wine by bottles of you want to make a purchase and bring some home. There prices per bottle are very reasonable ! I noticed before the wedding shower that when they where open for customers that they had a nice plate of cheese and crackers to snack on. What a great idea for Westmoreland NH to ha e such a beautiful buissness ! If they continue on with the path they are on with there buissness now I can see in the years to come that this will be a total success ! GPS is wrong. We passed this place and GPS said we had 5 miles to go. So be aware of this on your trip. It's on the side of the main road and you can't miss it. All the wines we tried were great. You can taste them all for free, which is the way it should be. We were impressed with a couple and purchased 2 bottles. Get there early to beat the crowd. read more

The Summit Winery - Wineries Near Me - Westmoreland, New Hampshire

So I didn't love the wine here, but there are few enough NH wineries that it's worth your time to check them out. This place brings in their grapes from CA and makes the wine here in NH. This removes the issue of only hybrids and native grapes growing in New England and allows for your more typical vinifera varietals like cabernet sav and zinfandel. The cab sav was pretty good, while the zin and other red seemed to have some off flavors. The unoaked chardonnay was actually surprisingly good and worth a try. They seem to have a few new varietals in the works, so definitely stop by. Tastings were free, staff was very friendly, and the location and setup was very nice. Worth a visit! read more

This winery was wonderful in every way! First, they have a beautiful space where they host event both inside their tasting room as well as outside in their vineyard. They view from the tasting room was just spectacular! Second, the wine itself was very good. They import most of their grapes from California and they have a very impressive variety. In particular, the cabernet sauvignon was delicious! Third, I got a chance to talk with the wine maker a little bit and he had such a fascinating story and seemed to know almost everything that you could know about wine!
