Made a reservation for 5:30 PM on a Saturday however I showed up a half hour early and the place was somewhat empty so unsure if reservation was truly necessary. After we settled down and ordered our startup cocktail, we proceeded to the dinner menu and to be quite honest, everything came out appealing and very appetizing. I have nothing negative to comment. Overall, a nice local establishment with great hospitality and I will no doubt I'll be back soon and try the rest of the menu.
Unfortunately, I have to lower my rating to 2 stars. Six months ago I did enjoy my meal here, but things went downhill on my second visit. The same salad we ordered on our first visit wasn't that great and the dressing tasted off. I also ordered the same Mac and cheese which I had on my previous visit and this time it was terrible! It was overloaded with big, chunky breadcrumbs and the cheese used wasn't tasty. My husband didn't enjoy his Fried chicken and thought it tasted off. My sister thought her Chicken sandwich was good. I can't recommend after my last meal here.
Very low key, nice ambiance with dim lighting. Good for date night or friend hangout. Food was good, I loved my short rib tacos. The meat was super flavorful. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger. Now... the fried pickles. I'm begging them to either call them "fried pickle chips" or cut the pickles thicker. They were all fried and no pickle... super disappointed in them.
The Pomeroy delivered on flavor but missed the mark on execution. Setting: Rustic and stylish with an inviting, upscale neighborhood feel. Bar and seating are plentiful indoors. Service: Attentive and confident--our waiter was reassuring, though the kitchen slipped on the steak temp. Food: I ordered the Thursday Ribeye special, and while full of incredible flavor, it came out medium well instead of medium rare. That said, the steak quesadilla was absolutely delicious and made up for the miss.
I want to first start off by saying my server was absolutely fantastic. He was very friendly, gave me recommendations, kept coming over, checking in and giving updates during this pretty long ordeal that felt like over two hours of being in this restaurant by myself. I ordered the Astoria Sunrise mocktail and it honestly was divine. The bar was set high. Then I got the whipped ricotta and I was very intrigued by the presentation, it was definitely way more than I thought I would be getting so I started having second thoughts since I was alone, but the bread was thin and crispy, the honey was a nice surprise in a little well within the ricotta. I just wish the ricotta would've been seasoned a bit more thoroughly to really show off how the salty and sweetness of ricotta and honey can really compliment each other. I ordered the pork chops and was very thankful that my server kept coming back to update me on why it was taking so long. He brought out more bread for the ricotta in the meantime. After about 45 minutes he told me that the cut they used for my pork chop happened to be really big and that they were trying to make sure it was cooked all the way through and that it would be out soon. I ended waiting over an hour for the pork chop and my god was the thing absolutely HUGE. It had to be over 2 inches thick and was still on the bone. Just as I suspected with a piece of meat that was being cooked for so long, it was positively charred on the outside. Not seared, not just browned... burnt and charred. The sweet potato puree, apple topping and asparagus were great and I'm sure it would've gone well with a perfectly cooked pork chop but this one should not have been served. I could barely cut through it, didn't even get to eat more than half of it after giving up because I couldn't tell if I was trying to cut through bone or tough, overcooked bits. It really was such a shame given that I was recommended this place by a friend and the server was just so good as his job. Not to mention how expensive it was after all that, I paid over $70 not including the tip. I'm really only not rating this lower because of the server and the rest of the meal minus the chop itself, but the more I think about it the more I am disappointed that no one thought to abandon the idea of serving this huge burnt hunk of meat to me.
First brunch in Astoria and we decided on The Pomeroy, my friends and I were drawn to the Chicken and Waffle pictures and was the main factor why LOL. Anyway, pretty cool place. Surprisingly not packed on a Saturday at 1PM but we took that as more space for us then. :) Maria was our waitress and she took good care of us. Funnily enough we all went for the Steak & Eggs for the protein kick but since Chicken and Waffles were the reason why we were there, we decided to order it for the table so we can share. Steak & Eggs were good, came with potatoes & greens. Chicken & Waffles were yum and we couldn't finish it (no surprise) and didn't really need to take it home since we were all heading somewhere after. My friends went for the 90 mins. Bottomless drinks for $20 where they could interchange mimosas, bloody marys etc. I went for the Astoria Sunrise mocktail which was pretty good actually for $10 each. Prices are pretty fair and can appreciate that. Great value for brunch!
Pomeroy located in Astoria on Ditmars Blvd is lively bar and restaurant. The service was excellent. I had the fish tacos and they were amazing. My gal pal had the honey chipotle wings. They were outstanding. Nice selection of beers on the tap. The owner sits on the end of the bar. He goes to check on every table. Great atmosphere. We will definitely come back again. When I was leaving I noticed they have a happy hour. Woohoo!
Okay absolutely LOVED this place! There were just shy of 10 of us for lunch and not one meal disappointed. We had their lunch specials, incredible! Quesadillas, burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. All rated at least an 8! Love the vintage decor, rustic look. Also loved the service from both the wait staff as well as the kitchen. Will definitely be back soon!!
I came here for brunch or lunch with a group of girls. The location was great as it's not too far from the train and it's in a busy area. It's best to make reservations for a Saturday afternoon. The service was great. They have bottomless brunch if you're into that, but none of us chose that option. I wanted something hearty so ordered the steak & eggs. It's grilled skirt steak topped with chimichurri and eggs served with home fries and salad. I don't have any complaints, except that I had to ask for hot sauce and pepper as the meat was dry. They also ask how you would like your eggs and I said over easy. It was fine. The only complaint was the steak.
Some good aspects, with some of the menu being hit or miss for us. The fish tacos were good, well-cooked and not overdone, with good flavor. The textures are a bit too monotonous and mushy with a puréed avocado sauce, a solid/chunky guacamole might suit it better. Fries were great. Mac and cheese was good and standard, lots of breadcrumbs, was New American style vs. southern/soul. Dates were fine, popular dish in Queens so better ones have been had. Brussels sprouts were under and over cooked--tough and chewy inside with burnt flavor film outside, no true crisp in either direction. Good ambiance although quite dark. Could be a good date spot. Service was ok and could improve. Overall was fine and glad to try, but wouldn't feel a need to return, unless maybe for drinks.
A Perfectly Cozy Date Night at The Pomeroy! We celebrated two weeks of being married with a date night at The Pomeroy during Astoria Restaurant Week, and it was fantastic! We chose to sit at the corner of the bar instead of a table (plenty were available), and it turned out to be a perfect cozy spot for people-watching and soaking in the vibe. I ordered the Restaurant Week special and kicked things off with the frickles - crispy, tangy, and paired with a sauce that was chef's kiss. We also requested the chipotle dipping sauce, which added a spicy kick - highly recommend doing both! For the main, I had the braised beef with creamy mashed potatoes, carrots, and asparagus. Every bite was hearty and full of flavor. For dessert, they had run out of the apple pie, which worked out perfectly because I had secretly hoped to sub in the cheesecake - and it did not disappoint! Creamy, sweet, and indulgent. To sip: I had a pilsner, a glass of prosecco, and an espresso martini (because why not celebrate properly?) - all were excellent and balanced. My husband got the salmon, served with a bright vegetable medley and a vibrant green sauce. He loved it. He kept it classic with Tito's martinis, straight up with a twist - smooth and strong, just the way he likes them. We shared the frickles, split my cheesecake, and he also had the crème brûlée, which was beautifully torched and perfectly creamy underneath. The service was fast, super friendly, and genuinely kind - plus, even the water came in chilled glasses, which is such a small touch but speaks volumes. The atmosphere was lively and fun, and while there were a few overly enthusiastic bar patrons (it was a Saturday night, after all), it didn't take away from the warm and vibrant energy of the place. We left happy, full, and already planning to come back. Thanks, Pomeroy, for a night to remember
Bottomless brunch. Good food and portions. 3 people late Saturday afternoon, reserved ahead of time but wasn't packed today so we didn't even need the reservation. French toast, omelette of the day, huevos rancheros. 2 of us added bottomless brunch cocktails. I wouldn't get the huevos rancheros again, it's buried in tortilla strips and there wasn't much tomato sauce. Next time I'll get the omelette. Note on the menu that there is an extra charge for credit cards. (I thought restaurants in NYS are supposed to list credit card prices on the menu?) I would come back for something different. Had a taste of the omelette, it was good and comes with a lot (potatoes, salad, toast)

We went here with a large group and had the best experience. The owner was out and about interacting with all of the tables. He was friendly and fun and clearly cares about his customers. Our appetizers and meals were all amazing (the mac and cheese and friend pickles were wonderful) and the owner even gave us free dessert. Lots of good cocktails and fun environment. This is a cute little spot on Ditmars Blvd that I never would have noticed had I not had received an email from Yelp. We came here on a Tuesday for $8 Margaritas and they were delicious as well as their tacos and other appetizers. We made a reservation a Yelp and we're seated right away when we got there. Our server was so nice and attentive. Their decor is dark and pottery barn-ish. We had their fish tacos, short rib tacos, and fried mozzarella. We also enjoyed 2 rounds of margaritas. We will be back to try their other small plates and snacks. read more

First time dining at The Pomeroy and we had a wonderful evening. Great atmosphere, tasty cocktails, and amazing food! We sat outside under their beautiful decorated seating area in front of the restaurant. They have an amazing cocktail list. I opted for the Pom Martini cocktail which was absolutely delicious and highly recommend if vodka is your liquor of choice. For our mains, my friends ordered the Fish Tacos and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. They both enjoyed their meals. I ordered the Pomeroy burger with cheese. The burger was perfectly cooked topped with a delicious special sauce that really made the dish. I would definitely return and recommend checking out this restaurant! read more

I came for brunch in December 2020 after Cuomo shut down indoor dining. My friend and I were looking for a place with heat lamps and happened across the pomeroy's heated booths. Worked for us! Now, I had heard that the pomeroy was only good for drinks and food was mediocre. This was NOT my experience at all! I had the shrimp and grits and they were amazing! It looked like a small portion but it was enough to fill me up. I had also ordered a side of sausage and I was uncomfortably full after eating both. My friend got the steak and eggs and I need that next time. I could smell the chimichurri and was salivating before my shrimp and grits came out. You get a drink of a hard lemonade, Bloody Mary, or mimosa with the purchase of your brunch entree and I went with the lemonade. It was very good and pretty strong! read more
Came here on a weeknight and seated immediately. We had the rice balls, fish tacos, and pork chop dish. The rice balls and fish tacos were incredibly. The pork chop was not the best but the sides that came with it were wonderful! Highly recommend coming here for a meal! read more

The 747 bourbon cocktail is deliciooooous. Loved their wide selection of craft beer. My friends were very obsessed w the Arancini rice balls -- very scrumptious and comforting. It's incredible how warm and toasty their private outdoor cabins are. I'm extremely thankful for the service that Carl blessed with our group with last night. Do you remember all the buzz surrounding the release of Batman Dark Knight? Specifically the performance of Heath Ledger as Joker. Stay with me here.... We all knew it would be good, but that feeling we had leaving the theater. Like whoa! What did I just watch? I swear I wasn't ready for THAT level of greatness. That's pretty much the chicken at The Pomeroy. Before I even get into it, who knew there was this much life and vibe in Astoria?! Oh...am I late? Ditmars features as diverse of a food scene as I've seen on any strip. Heck, I've had more success finding parking in Times Square. Now back to that chicken. This is smack your momma good, and you instantly know after just one bite. Crispy, juicy, and an insane amount of seasoning. Actually the seasoning is where most fail. The bird comes with two dipping sauces, which honestly were not needed since the chicken is great on its own. But believe it or not, the sauces actually make it better! Especially the mystery green sauce. This really isn't fair. Not to be outdone, this casserole Mac and cheese is bomb.com. The cheese choices of Gruyere, cheddar , fontina, and parmigiano are four-midable. I'd say top three mac dishes I've ever had...and I've had a lot. The Pomeroy alone is worth the trek to Astoria and any wait time you'll have to endure. (Don't be like me, make a reservation). Very important Note: please don't actually smack your mother. read more

4.5 I love just about everything about this place. Walking in you notice the dark decor which is offset by white chairs. It is full of ambiance; it it warm, intimate and classy, but also comfortable and casual. The staff is very personable and just lovely to interact with. There is a wonderful list of cocktails and both the Manhattan and the Pomeroy Old Fashioned were well crafted and great. The menu offers lots of tantalizing options and to make things more difficult there was also quite the extensive specials menu. It was so hard to choose we ordered quite a few options. The Avocado Toast was so delicious, the bread alone is worth the order, but the avocado, chilies, pea shoots and grapefruit all worked so wonderfully together. The Octopus (special) was nicely charred with a balsamic glaze and served over zucchini, red peppers and potatoes. Nice and tender and tasty. The artichoke (special) served taken apart and topped with breadcrumbs, cheese and red pepper flakes, which was a different take on a stuffed artichoke, but good. The Fried Chicken is an excellent version. Super crispy, juicy and flavorful and accompanied by 2 dipping sauces. Totally scrumptious and some of the best fried chicken I've had east of Brooklyn. The Mac & Cheese is comfort at its best. Supper creamy and decadent and just divine. The roasted Cauliflower served with a jalapeno pecan dipping sauce was a delightful take on the sometimes blah vegetable. The Pomeroy does it right and seems to do so with such ease, it makes me sadly wonder why there are not more places around like it. read more
Came here for the first time for brunch and the food was fabulous. Interior is rustic and cute with a few tables outside in the nice weather. We got seated right away on a Saturday morning. First off, you get a free drink with entree at brunch which I thought was awesome. Options are mimosa, thyme lemonade and Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary had a great kick and the lemonade was refreshing. I had the Dutch baby with a side of pork apple sausage. Never had a Dutch baby before, was kind of like a doughy pancake. The top was crispy but inside soft, covered with butter and maple syrup. My boyfriend had the half fried chicken which was DELICIOUS, so crispy and tender. It didn't come with any sides though which I thought was a little strange. The honey carrot on the menu is actually a sauce. My friend had the steak & eggs, which was a huge portion. The steak was cooked to perfection and chimichurri was extremely flavorful. We shared the cheddar grits which were creamy and delicious. Overall, very well priced menu (especially since you get a free drink) and everything we had was awesome. Would recommend! read more
So i like to go our on a non-valentine type day because who wants to wine and ine when the place is packed... i saw that they take the open table app and told my fiance lets try this place his words when i said that was "Poneroy what is that what do they serve,,," i said well they have some good reviews on yelp so lets give it a try the menu you looks simple and i wanna get my points.. like this open table business is a point system game. so we arrived at 7pm the place was pretty quiet the bar area had a good amount of people. the back restaurant area was really dead only another table at 7pm the day after Valentines Day... Im not surprised this place was probably packed the night before and i was happy to sit where i wanted and really be fussed over by the wait staff. Chris was our waiter he came over gave us a little 101 on the menu and made some great recommendations. Reaping the benefits of a restaurant preparing for Vday they still had their special menu minus a few items that if we were interested in they still had availiable and we could order from. I have learned that ordering from the Special Menu can be 1 of 2 things. Old food that they combo to make new again or they are testing out some new recipes to possibly replace old or maybe the chefs wanted to spice it up. with that said we ordered the grilled octopus appetizer from the special menu. it came with some nicely diced veggies and the ocotpus portions were huge meaty and generous! we couldve licked the plate it was tha delicous! we also ordered the FRICKLES which had the cutest name for fried pickles and who doesnt like something fried... huge portion there good to share with 4 people.. although my fiance wanted to order it as an appetizer he ate a late lunch and didnt want to order a meal meal so he picked at appetizers... for my main entree i ordered the veggie sandwich... vegetables were tender and still had a bite to them... type of sandwich that made you forget about meat because it was filled with lots of goodies. it also came with fries that reminded me of my childhood... we were very happy about our experience here and will look forward to returning with friends so they can enjoy this piece of astoria that was left my belly hungry to tr something else off their menu! read more

Happen to stumble upon this restaurant while restaurant/ bar hopping in Astoria. Ideal to make a reservation for Saturday night dining, but the average wait time was less than 10 minutes. The manager/ owner is very active in the running of the business. Was there to welcome guest, escort you to app seating and even clean the table to provide faster turn around. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing. Only comment- taco wrap should be reinforced with a second soft shell taco, seeing that they pile on a lot of protein and cabbage every taco just fell apart in my hands. Kind of messy. read more

No private room I have seen parties with balloons. But I suggest asking them to close of to the public.
