Food was mediocre. Long wait and server named Jeff was slow and rude. He made a comment about the amount of food being ordered by my family and then made a rude joke about keeping all the money as a tip when we asked for change. When I called him on it, he stated he was joking and that he had a sense of humor. I told him that if not all parties find it funny, it's not a joke. In fact, Jeff, it's bullying. Was excited to try after reading reviews. Wife and I made reso for a Tuesday afternoon, friendly greeting/hostess, seated right away in their nice booths, and restaurant was pretty empty, maybe two other tables in dining area, bar looked a bit busier. That's why it was a little disappointing to be seated directly across from a "station"(?), for water fill ups, and condiments, and what not, but also a big ol' bussers' bin of dirty dishes, which was "loaded up" shortly after we sat down, noisy dumping/clanking, and all. There were literally open booths in all directions, but they plopped us there, so that was kind of lame. The booth was otherwise comfortable, clean table/utensils/glasses, and the lighting and ambience/decor was subdued, tasteful, and comfortable. Took drink order and returned quickly with them, server and cocktails both ok to good. Being a Cobb salad aficianado, was excited for it, as this place just looks like it should have a great, classic version. Wife opted for a burger with side salad. Brought out my Cobb and wife's side salad first, burger was to follow. Cobb did not look good, and wife's "side sald" at half the price, looked amazing, 3x the size. The cobb was flat, minimal in size, very little protein, way too many cukes and small whole tomatoes, and bland. Wifes burger followed up shortly, looked great and was very very good. Would have had another beer/cocktail, but server kind of was not around. She did stroll by and glanced at our plates/glasses, but no "how is everything", or "getcha another beer?"... I mean, we would have just said "great", but to not have been asked seemed a little weak. The parking, building/decor, wife's great burger and salad, satisfactory cocktails, and satisfactory service are what lean me up toward 3 stars, but the Cobb salad and just "satisfactory" afore-mentioned, also lean me down from a 4 or 5. We'll go again, I'm sure, menu looks great, looking forward to trying some of their other offerings. read more

The customer I was working with for the week mentioned this place as being "pretty good" so I maybe had low expectations therefore it was easy to exceed... But holy mackerel, I liked this place. Excellent service, our waitress was courteous and attentive during a pretty busy lunchtime. I recommend the Three Little Piggies -- it sounds like a lot--and it is--but goodness is it delicious. Juicy meat and the sauce makes it absolute perfection on a bun. Our waitress suggested some ranch to dip the cajun fries, they've definitely got a kick to them and I definitely recommend you follow her suggestion as well to back off the kick just a little bit. My only regret is not coming back here again for dinner before I left. read more

The Pheonix is our favorite, long-time locals, go-to spot!! The food is always great and the drinks are top notch. We're not the only ones who think so as the place is usually packed!! The restaurant side, reservations are highly recommended and generally there is a bit of a wait for a table in the bar, but still worth it!! The staff is always friendly and welcoming, we haven't had a negative interaction with any of the staff ever, Lilly especially always goes out of her way to make sure our table is taken care of!! Date: 9/27/22 Meal: Dinner with reservations via Open Table We had a wonderful experience at The Phoenix. The restaurant has a lot of booth seating and we were welcomed upon arrival and seated at a quiet booth in the back. Our server, Chris, immediately served us water and the drinks we ordered arrived quickly. Chris was attentive and friendly. I ordered the half raspberry salad as a starter - it was huge and delicious. I also ordered the pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes. The sauce was yummy and the meal plentiful - I took half of that home, too. My husband enjoyed the onion soup and Hawaiian pizza. For the amount of food we ordered and the quality, it was an exceptional value. read more

I must like it here because I wind up here a lot. Is it a great restaurant with excellent food? Not necessarily. But it's a pretty damn good restaurant with pretty damn good food and solid service. The decor and concept are a bit dated. The lounge area is comfortable with lots of TVs for football. It is located within a cluster of retirement homes, so if you like old people, come at 3:00 when it's hopping, happy hour seems to happen constantly and the happy hour menu is great. As for the food, Buffalo Wings and fish and chips are incredible. Noteworthy even. Potato skins, crab bisque, onion soup are other things I've enjoyed. read more

If you are looking for FILLING, tasty food, this is one of the only places in Bend for big portions and flavors. For me, the chicken fettucini hits the spot. For my hubbs, the NY Blackened Cajun steak gets him singing opera (literally). An extra sweet thing about this place is Loretta, who feels like an auntie who knows you by name, and brings you your food in the sweetest way. Go here, but not at busy times. Normally I would give a 4-5 stars but last night we had to sit in the lounge.. no big deal.. we ordered our meal, the meal came and my meal wasn't what I ordered, not even close, waitress apologized, she put in the wrong meal but she reordered it and put a rush on it .. well by the time it came my husband was finished with his! I was very upset! I wanted to have a nice dinner with my husband before I go on my trip.. I was so boiling that I couldn't enjoy the meal! This is my family's favorite place to go in Bend. We are always greeted and welcomed warmly. We know many of the servers, and they all make sure to say hi as they pass our table. The Food at the Phoenix never disappoints!! Definitely recommend!!! read more

I wanted to visit this restaurant because I read an article about restaurants that define Bend in the Portland "Eater" and this is one that one that I had yet to visit of those mentioned in the article. The atmosphere is very nice with great lighting, nice big booths and an open kitchen. I ordered the halibut fish and chips and W ordered chicken piccata. My fish was good, but not outstanding. My fries were shoestring fries that had no flavor at all and my cole slaw tasted like wilted lettuce and cabbage with absolutely no spice, mayo or vinegar. I put some of my tartar sauce in it and added salt, but it still wasn't good because of the soggy lettuce or whatever it was that made it taste stale. W liked his chicken piccata, but he was disappointed that it wasn't pounded very thinly as piccata should be. His potatoes didn't taste fresh to me. I doubt we will visit again. I would compare this restaurant to an expensive Applebee's. Service was good. read more

We had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant ever since we moved to Sunriver last year. We decided to go with 4 friends and give it a try. We were not disappointed, nice ambiance along with great service ( from Mari) and excellent food. The lunch choices are extensive and reasonably priced. The Phoenix burger was nice and juicy with lots of flavor. The French dip, Philly cheesesteak as well as the skewered shrimp , all were well prepared. A heaping helping of skinny shoestring French fries with ketchup accompanied the dish. My husband also ordered a cup of Red Bean Smoked Chicken soup for $4. Although we couldn't figure out where the smoked chicken was, he enjoyed every bite. ---Phoenix Salad, large $10 with diced chicken breast for $5 more--- The amazing salad contained a generous mound of fresh mixed greens, grape tomatoes, roasted corn niblets, chopped bacon, crumbled bleu cheese, finely shaved red onion and freshly sliced avocado. This restaurant really suffered with covid but they seem to be back on track. Had dinner the other night and the food and service were very satisfying all around. I cannot wait to go back soon their menu selection is very encompassing and I am looking forward to trying something else. It is too easy to stick with one favorite. It was alright. My husband didn't like his pork sandwich, said the flavors were too sweet. I really enjoyed my veggie burger, but the waiter did warn me beforehand that the patty wasn't gluten free which is weird for a veggie patty. Not a problem for me, but in case you are gluten free that would be disappointing. The fries were weird but not bad. We did wait quite a while for our food to come out, and then our waiter didn't come back to check on us until we'd been done with our food for a long time. read more

The filet steak at Phoenix was amazing, the artichoke dip is yumo, and the margaritas were tasty! We were looking for comfort food after a stressful day, and the food and atmosphere hit the spot. They had a big kids menu, well, small kids menu that was big :) Everyone was really nice, the service was perfect, and we will for sure be back. read more

Went there for a birthday dinner. Had a nice gift card. Had a quite enjoyable meal. We weren't keeping track of the balance on the card. When the waitress presented the bill, I asked, "is there a balance on the card that would cover dessert", and she curtly replied as she walked away "Nope!", and I inquired again and she said "Nope". I don't know what the issue was, but I was willing to SPEND MORE, but she was not interested. We left, WON'T BE BACK AGAIN. Sorry Phoenix...Kayo Oakley built the place and he just died this week. Every time I went there I thought of Kayo. He was a great chef. We will miss him, but not this twitchy service. Nod to the manager that tried to smooth this out, but Point of Contact service people leave the lasting impressions. Waitress was great... Both of our meals were sub par. I had the Ruben and one side was barely warm and the other side (the bread) was cooked so long it was crumbling apart..... Horrible. My wife's Salmon was dry and over priced for the amount she got. Arrived at 5pm and I think we were the only people there under 65. Felt like we walked into a retirement home. The lounge area is always busy so we were super excited that it would be great. They have a fairly extensive menu with a good variety of food and drinks. We tried it a few times and were never overly excited or impressed with the food. Let me express it's not bad it's just not any better than standard "chain restaurant" food.
