I was blown away by how cute this place was with bright colors and Nola inspired decor. The service was incredibly friendly and the food was fresh & well made. Very limited vegan options, actually there was really only two- Buddha Bowl and the Buddha bowl done like a burrito. The bowl was delicious and I didn't feel like I was stuck eating a boring ice berg lettuce with oil and vinegar, if you know what I mean. My bf ordered the Nouveau Garden omelette and demolished it in no time. The portion was pretty standard and not generous like other cafes like Bill's etc but it was still good. Coffee is bottomless. It looks like the price of coffee has really gone up as it was $4+ per cup of black brewed coffee. We were seated in a private little area for two and it couldn't have been more perfect. Side note- the employees here are seriously awesome! I watched one of them patiently guide an elderly woman with a cane into the cafe. He was so polite and kind, the elderly lady seemed smitten with charm. What a wonderful find!

The hashbrowns were definitely my favorite because they were super crispy. I also got a hot chocolate and it did not disappoint. Really enjoyed everything about this place and would definitely come back!

If one goes to eat at the Boatyard Pub then the Boatyard is a good (not great) place to eat food…read morewise not service wise. But if you go to dance, be advised the Boatyard wants people to come to eat and drink (not to dance). They have a dance floor that is extremely small and carpeted which has servers walking though it every few minutes. For those who come over to buy drinks and dance, they must sit at the bar (no tables). Which is OK, but if there are no seats at the bar (there are perhaps enough seats at the bar for 14 or 15 people) you are out of luck. You stand or leave. And they appear to prefer you leave. In addition, the tables are all the way to the band which allows for no dance floor and the tables and chairs can't be moved even an inch. A couple of the staff and the female manager told me personally that they do not want dancers at their restaurant. They are a restaurant, so everyone who comes there is expected to both eat and drink and preferably "not dance." So, I and my friends who like to dance have found other places to dance. Other places who welcome and enjoy having us. It's a free country, so we exercised our choice to go somewhere else that is fun and friendly. Don't get me wrong, as there were some very friendly staff at the Boatyard Pub who enjoyed having us and we tipped them very well. But the manager and several of her staff are unfriendly especially to dancers and many of their other patrons. So, go.tbere at your own risk. You have been warned warned.

Walked right over to Dukes which is literally foot steps from the beach. To my surprise, not only was it pretty busy with the World Cup on every TV, but impressively, it didn't stop the service or kitchen from being super fast. Very impressive. I ordered to go this time so I could get back to parenting and enjoying the weather. Had to be quick so I could enjoy my time before it cools down and my sunburn fully sets in. I ordered the Gizmo which is basically a grilled chicken club on sourdough. It was great. Really don't have anything to add to that other than I would highly recommend it. Anyone who doesn't love a chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich might have some taste bud issues... It came with in-house made potato chips and those were also wonderful. I smashed that thing and literally went right to sleep in my chair. What a perfect beach day thanks to Dukes. To add to my food experiences and recommendations here, the time before this, I ordered the fish and chips. In my case it was the fried fish and sweet potato fries. It was so flavorful and crispy. I highly recommend eating it there or hopefully near by so it doesn't lose that fresh crunch. However, you have to get any and all fries with their Ranch. I had to get extra as I couldn't seem to get enough. Obviously every fry needed to have a disgusting amount of ranch on it. Everything I had from here so far has been incredibly tasty and I would recommend it anytime you're in the area. Can't go wrong with good food and the beach with in skipping distance from one another.

I loved the caesar salad and the onion rings. The tacos and chips were the bomb as well. The cookie with ice cream dessert was an incredible surprise. The menu description did not do it justice. It was a large chocolate chip cookie cooked in a small cast iron skillet with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top. Scrumpdidlicious I can see Yard Bar & Grill as part of my new fun thrift store routine. Shop til I drop and then reward myself with a beverage and that fab cookie skillet ice cream thingy. The charcuterie board was delicious! The bread was warm and obviously homemade. All the different cheeses tasted fresh and there were also candied walnuts which were fantastic. I was really impressed by their wine dispensers and how many varieties they had of different selections. I think overall we tried 4-6 different wines for less than $40. The ambiance of the inside reminds me a little bit of Squidwards house (but in a good way) with a high arched ceiling and classical decor. I would love to come back and try their other food and sample more wine.

I'm really glad he did because it's the kind of place I probably wouldn't have found on my own. The first thing that caught our attention was the self-serve wine dispensers lined with bottles ready to sample. We had a lot of fun walking back and forth, looking over the different selections, and deciding what to taste next. Being able to sample wines by the ounce before committing to a full glass made the whole experience feel interactive. I especially liked that I could compare different Cabernet Sauvignons side by side, which isn't something you get to do very often. After trying a few different Cabernets, Chimney Rock ended up being my favorite. The dining room added to the experience. The cave-like ceilings, warm lighting, and comfortably spaced tables made it easy to settle in, enjoy our lunch, and catch up without feeling cramped or rushed. If you enjoy trying different wines, it's easy to lose track of time here. We started with a cheese plate, which turned out to be much more generous than I expected. It came with a nice assortment of cheeses, crisp apple slices, grapes, candied walnuts, crostini, and a savory relish on the side. It was a great dish to share with our wine. My friend ordered the tuna poke tower, and we shared the cheese flatbread and sweet potato fries. I went with the Original Cave Salad with salmon, which came with a generous piece of perfectly cooked salmon over fresh greens, apples, grapes, walnuts, and blue cheese. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous enough that we left completely satisfied. One thing I appreciated was that we never felt rushed. Lunch naturally turned into an afternoon of catching up, comparing notes on the different wines, and deciding which pours we wanted to try next. Before we left, we wandered through the wine shop one more time. If you discover a favorite during lunch, you can pick up a bottle before heading home, which is a nice touch. I'm really glad my friend found this place. The next time I'm in Ventura, it'll definitely be on my list again.

We came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. We each ordered a cocktail. She got a blueberry margarita and I got a cucumber gin mixed drink. Both were refreshing and delicious. We ended up ordering another round. For appetizers we ordered the crispy maple Brussels and tuna & salmon tartare. The Brussels were fried to perfection and glazed a sweet maple syrup. It also came with thick cuts of bacon. Definitely recommend this. For the tartare, it was also delicious and fresh. It was mixed with avocado and turnip. We thought the turnip would be off putting but it actually meshed well with the flavors. Came with fried wonton chips. For the main course we shared the NY strip and Lobster Malfaldine. The steak was cooked to perfection with a very nice sear and flavored well. Probably one of the better steaks I've ever had. Definitely beats out any steakhouse steak. The Lobster Malfaldine was also absolutely delicious. Most of the time, lobster pasta is usually a bit bland and lacking in lobster. NOT HERE. They included big chunks of lobster and the sauce was so good. Lastly, we ended our dinner with the Strawberry Hand Pie. This is basically a warm strawberry strudel with vanilla bean ice cream. They used locally sourced strawberries and I'm still thinking about it as I'm writing this review. Adrienne was our server and she was very nice and attentive. You've really gotta try the Strawbanero (Strawberry-Habanero) sauce, as it was a sweet and savory bite that had all three of us fighting over. * Buffalo Barrels (aka Tater Tots) were worth the $5 upgrade.
