These folks were a life saver for me. I needed to move some stuff but it wasn't a huge amount. Everyone else had quoted me a minimum cost of $3,000. to move my 25 boxes. it was ridiculous!! It was too much for me to move on my own but not enough to fill up a connex. These folks fill in that gap. I packed, loaded up my boxes and took them down to the store and they took it from there. They were friendly, courteous and very helpful. My stuff made it to me fully intact without any damage and exactly when they said it would. I highly recommend these folks if you are making a move but you don't have a lot of stuff......but more than you can handle on your own! read more

I can't rate this place high enough . Even though I stopped by close to closing I received the most friendly and competent service . I had a large painting to package . A gentleman by the name of Mike helped me . He showed me exactly how they would package it and the materials they use . This place is experienced in packaging packages for the mail . He had exactly the right box ( a frame box ) and he had the right size .I stopped at both of his competitors on the way to his store , they were a little closer to my home . One place didn't have a frame box and their cost was 2 and 1/2 times his ( just to package ) the other store was nice and more affordable but the only frame box that would work was almost twice as big . I'm not sure it would have fit in a small car and the shipping would have been 3 times as expensive . Thanks to Mike and the Packaging Store I will have a painting that is packaged safe and secure that I will be able to take to my favorite place to mail . Really wish I would had read the reviews BEFORE I decided to use them. Got a "rough quote". They came and got my stuff and crated everything. I flew out of state. When my shipment arrived, the first thing I opened was broken. I haven't opened anything else yet (honestly kind of afraid to). Also the actual bill came to almost 2 1/2 X the original quote. (You know, can't give you an accurate bid til they already pack it up-and then you're left with not many choices what to go along with it). I about fell over when the owner called with the actual quote. At this point I was already out of state. Emailed the owner with a pic of the broken furniture. No response. Came back up to Anchorage and stopped in. Of course no coverage and even had it "been insured, it would have cost another $400-500 to have it packed in such a way as to be insurable". In other words, their basic packing is apparently so bad, the insurance companies won't touch it. If you don't mind crap packing, bait and switch pricing and no response if you have a problem, by all means use the Packaging Store. Otherwise, move on. read more

I thought these guys would be amazing... I asked around and heard nothing but good things....................... until I used them... Most of my 30 some boxes showed up damaged and/or crushed. I had several items broken. My pallets were not even able to be put on a trailer, we had to break them completely down when we picked them up. They put heavy boxes on top of fragile and light boxes. $1200+ and I am completely disgusted with their work. Will never recommend them to anyone, nor will I use them again. read more

Can I give this place negative stars? They are the WORST company I have ever dealt with in my entire life! They're extremely rude, unprofessional & careless. I was given a rough estimate the first time I called. Then AFTER I agreed to their services (at the time out of state) they charged me 3 x's the estimated quote & said it was only going up from there. I was literally in tears talking to them & it didn't help the situation when the manager became irate with me over the phone, literally yelling at me! I had to borrow the money to pay them or they were going to auction off my large storage unit worth of items that they now had in their warehouse. They offered to return my items to the storage unit, but would charge me dearly for it. I was STUCK! I had to pay them their now 6x's the amount they originally quoted. They then took several more weeks to ship everything to me. That's when things got even worse! I received 3 large palate towers of my things wrapped with their plastic. It was so poorly packaged that 75% of my things were damaged or completely ruin. Among those were an antique wood bench, my personal artwork, computers, & many pieces of pottery, dishes, china, etc. They packed EMPTY crates I had in my storage unit & instead of putting my smaller items inside those crates, they shoved things in open spaces between chair legs & their plastic wrap. I had several fiber sculptures that they smashed & used as filler for voids, ALL ruined! One drawing I had framed was ruined, unrepairable scratches all over the metal frame & the glass had been broken & taken out completely. The drawing underneath was torn & marked. Thousands of dollars worth of art & my personal belongings ruined! When I complained to them about all of my damaged property, they first blamed the shippers. Then I was told it was my fault because I didn't tell them I had so much stuff in my storage unit. WHAT??? They also told me that if they had known a lot of it was MY personal artwork, they would have been more careful. REALLY??? They also shipped me someone elses very large mirror. It was packed well. & I unknowingly had to pay for it to be shipped to me & then when told them I opened the box & saw that it wasn't even mine, they told me that I "can have it". They didn't want me to return it to them or its rightful owners, when I told them I did not want it, its huge, its ugly, ITS NOT MINE! & that I wanted them to take care of it, they told me to just throw it away. I explained to them that I have a disability & am unable to haul this thing around, that they should take care of it!!! Its THEIR FAULT, THEIR PROBLEM! & I demanded compensation for paying for it in the first place! They laughed & told me to get someone else to throw it away for me. I continued to demand a refund for having it shipped to me, as well as compensation for ALL of my damaged items. They refused & even hung up on me. I wrote them letters & threatened to turn them into the BBB & take them to court. Again, no response. So I DID file a report with the BBB. That night they contacted me with excuses & still NO apologies for what he put me through or for ruining any of my things. After some heated debate, we agreed to settle on what I believe was half of what I should have received. I told him his reputation would suffer because of the vile way I was treated by them & their refusal to settle with me for a more appropriate amount. He didn't care! I through out all the ruined artwork & personal items, tried to repair the wood bench & a few other things I can't throw away, & donated the mirror to a charity. & I never once received an apology from them! If ANYONE wants photos of ALL the damages they caused, I'll be happy to email them to you! I have many photos proving their terrible way of doing business that I sent to them & the BBB. & I would LOVE to show you too! [scussa@hotmail.com] AVOID THE PACKAGING STORE like the plague! This is definitely an excellent local business. I have been very pleased with their services on the three occasions I have used them. They went the extra mile this month to accommodate my needs; I was in Mexico and they held my shipment, storing a pallet for me until I could pick it up, much longer than they had expected to. Then my daughter brought a number of additional items over for the shipment and they had to package them as well at the last minute and repack the pallet. Patient and cooperative throughout. I know I can count on outstanding packaging from them. They gave me good advice on how to ship some valuable paintings that I was going to ship in a very unsafe way. Yes, the total was more than the estimated cost but the reason was partly because I had them pack up a lot of my art. Everything else I had packed myself. Amidst the stress of moving out of state and trying to pack up my entire life, dealing with the Packaging Store and their professional staff was a very bright, drama-free spot. First off, I received three quotes and this was far and away the most affordable by a MILE. Second, the fact that they will come and pick up your stuff for a ridiculously small fee is a lifesaver (especially as a single female with questionable knees & back). Third, they were VERY clear about my options when it came to the liability of sending things as I had packed them at my own risk, or paying extra for them to professionally packed and insured. Even after I declined their additional services, some of my smaller furniture items (custom made coffee & end tables) were still given extra treatment and packed using additional materials out of sheer courtesy. I had a total of four large pallets exceeding a total of 2,200 pounds. The staff at the Packaging Store gave me the opportunity to see the shipment before it was sent off (I declined). I opted for "door to door" delivery so when the pallets were dropped off in my garage in Oregon I was impressed at how securely they were wrapped. When I broke through all the wrapping and started getting through my boxes I was thrilled to find EVERY SINGLE ITEM fully intact. Not a single damaged box or broken item. Awful Awful Awful ! Not only did they raise the rate AFTER they gave me a quote, they also told me they were going to deliver 3 hours away unless I paid more money ! They quoted a price to me based on my delivery address then told me someone 'made a mistake'. By then I was out of state, they had my stuff and I was SCREWED! Classic bait and switch. They said they would not insure anything they did not pack. A family member who has packed professionally for a number of years packed my stuff. I was there and saw each and every box. I've sent many things thru the US Mail, and never had problems with how they were packed. But my experience with well pack goods and the Packaging store: The damages were astounding. It looked for all the world like someone had dropped the entire pallet. Damage was widespread and extensive. All my favorite things RUINED and DESTROYED. Heartsick doesn't begin to describe how I feel. I have one box that is missing completely. The driver arrived with 2 pallets loaded helter skelter, and without a lift gate so the pallet jack was of no use. He was a physically fit, young man in his 20's, he sat on his ASS while my tiny little daughter in law and her girlfriend unloaded the truck. He didn't lift a finger. He did absolutely nothing (and I was charged for $150 home delivery). You'd think he'd at least have the decency to act like he was on a phone call, but he blatantly sat there and watched them do all the work. Worst experience ever. This company uses shippers that do not work for the packaging store, and are contracted labor. It makes me absolutely sick I ever trusted this company; Their word is worth nothing, their quotes are subject to change after the agreement. The service is passed off to Joe Blow Yahoo with no concern for the safe arrival of your goods. I have to question if they were even licensed and bonded. I noticed there was a bad review in 2012. The price was comparable for the service. The pallets were shipped over 3,500 miles and arrived on time and in perfect condition. The care took in packaging was commendable. There were interior braces on top of the boxes, then heavy duty sheeting and bands followed by shrink wrap. Very good job! read more
