We just bought our home and needed a moving service--and I'm so glad we chose this one! Tai, Nate, and Wiley were all so wonderful and polite. And they all move FAST. Our experience with this outfit was a short lived one. We received a nice postcard in the mail and made them one of our three bids. We just couldn't get past the breakdown in trust. Pity too, we wanted to hire these folks. On Wednesday, a very nice gentleman named Ben came to the house. He was a no nonsense, get to work kind of guy. Quickly assessed all of our possessions and came back with a very reasonable estimate. After we received our final bid on Thursday, we called Ben back, the next morning. He had the day off and will be back on Sunday. Sounded odd. But what do we know about the moving business? We had the woman set our packing date for 11 days later on 8/22, while we waited for Ben to get back to us with more details. Long story short, no return call Sunday or Monday. My wife finally called Ben the next night and he told her that he and I had spoke and set everything up for the 22nd. But he and I never spoke. He's yet to call either of us. I'm not sure why he'd blatantly lie like that but if he isn't honest on a simple call to confirm he'd won the contract, seems to me nothing he said could be trusted. Low price is important. But these are our lifetime memories. Being able to trust the folks moving them is far more important. Here's another thought. They drive the load through Canada. Not the using the barge. These folks are amazing. Rick has managed to help me out with a horrible, large move after decades of living in a huge house to a much smaller house. Difficult move for an older widowed person who managed contact covid19 in the middle of said move. Unfortunately, this move is not completed yet, so l can not yet give a full review. The move is turning out much more expensive & time consuming than planned, due to my illness. But in the peak moving season, l think Rick is going to be able to pull it off. Well it pays to write reviews!!! The owners read my review and immediately contacted my mom to make right what went terribly wrong to begin with. They sent a local furniture repair man to my moms senior living center and he repaired everything. Alison paid for everything. Thank you for making this really disheartening experience somewhat better. One of her shipping containers still hasn't arrived so for now it's a 3 star review but better than the one I originally gave. the contract stated everything had to be boxed and they would wrap furniture and things that did not fit in boxes. We used our own boxes. The movers took 2 dressers and did not wrap them. To reiterate from the bad experience Alison McDaniel, the owner of this moving company, had provided to us after dealing with them about unrepaired removable car bench seat. They had me to go all over, spanning two counties, to get the repair estimate they requested, only to receives the 10% of the repair cost. While on my way down to my new home, they called me to rescind my supplemental insurance that would have been paid to have my removable bench seat repaired, but no...they said in order to save money...I had to remove the insurance. I was going to meet them as I was in a different location already. Also I told them they would need tools to dismantle a bedroom set. They didn't call or bring a single tool. The next day she contacted a company in Florida to reassemble my treadmill. Don't use these movers. We moved from Anchorage to the Portland area. Should've been easy, right? For some reason, they moved our stuff from Anchorage to Montana, let it sit there for 7 weeks, and finally moved it to us past the 8-week "estimation" mark (idgaf if you say it's an estimation or not. If you say 6-8 weeks, I expect it to arrive within that time frame, not after). First, the truck had mechanical issues so we had to wait an addition three days (it would've been four days if we hadn't called to complain). Then, half out furniture arrived broken and we also got stuff that didn't belong to us. They must hire third party movers because the TWO people they sent to move 20+ boxes up three flights of stairs, had no idea what was going on beyond "move this stuff here" and would not take back the things that were not ours. So now we have to figure out what to do with it AND make sure we got all of OUR things as well - who else's stuff has not arrived because we might have your TV stand! Oh, and the movers didn't even bother to call us on the day they were supposed to arrive with our stuff to tell us that they had mechanical issues. We had to wait til the next business day to call Allison's to call the movers to straighten it out. What an effing mess! We should have read the reviews first, honestly, but yeah. Don't. Use. Another move, this one to Oregon. Alison's did an excellent job. My stuff was picked up in Anchorage, barged to Tacoma and then trucked to my home in Oregon. Alyssia kept me updated and checked through out the move as far as where my stuff was. My stuff arrived in about 3 weeks, which was what I expected. Nothing was damaged. I used Alison's Relocations for my move from Anchorage, Alaska to Portland, Oregon. The whole process was very clear and concise. Alison and her team talked me through the various stages of my move and were extremely helpful from start to finish. Her team was available to answer any questions up to the pack day. The team that packed and loaded my home were very kind, thoughtful, and thorough. They were also very nice to chat with and answered any questions about the process once my stuff was loaded and shipped, and what to expect at the time of receipt at the delivery destination. I have already referred one friend to use Alison's Relocation and have been extremely happy with my service. And to answer the question you all are wondering, I do not yet know if there have been damages to my belongings packed. I am living in an apartment and will eventually find, buy and move into a home. My delivery was sent to a storage facility and the unloading of all of my belongings looked to be in the same good condition as when they were when loaded in the container several weeks prior. The storage was affordable and secure. The move back in was easily scheduled careful and efficient. The courtesy box pick up after unpacking was very helpful. Two small boxes sustained some storage damage, but Alison's was very prompt and upfront about listing to my concern and addressing it. They delivered several large pieces of furniture and put them right where I needed them, meaning I asked to move them an inch here then there... the men were courteous, patient, and friendly. Never a gripe or eye roll, and really important: These were large and very heavy pieces, and the men left not a single scratch on the walls or staircase. I had a planned commercial move - I used this company in the past a couple times and had been happy... A week before the move, the guy Rick comes TO the location and looks around - easy, I'll have stuff boxed and ready, we plan the day, he mentions a price and I tell him no problem - we have a plan, right? No. Let me sum it up: 1. Used this company before, just called and they came out before... good results. 2. Rick comes and sees the place, gets the date and quotes me on the spot. Seems like an agreement, plans are in place. 3. I get an email following up on what we talked about, it's the same as what the guy told me, seemed redundant to repeat the initial process again - we have an agreement already. 4. I call and email the day before (Thursday) to make SURE I'm on the schedule, touch base, etc - and I get an email back saying I'm NOT on the schedule because they didn't get an email back...? WAT. The previous times I didn't need to email them back, I also didn't need the "quote guy" out there... They completely screw me over, with NO thought to what this does to me, they took the time to get my info and set up the time and date, but - without even following up on this, just DIDNT SCHEDULE anything for me. The guy said something in his post-5pm email about getting me in the next week. That's nice - I guess they didn't care that I had set all this up for a reason! He also offered to arrange a Saturday move AT OVERTIME RATES. Seriously? I had arranged this the week prior for a reason. Saturday is my busiest day, I have construction, renovation, cleaning, all KINDS of things going on around this move... You screwed me, Alison's. left me and my business hanging, didn't even bother to follow up on the visit, which any reasonable person would see as an agreement. There was nothing said about "now I need an email back so I can maybe schedule you", there was nothing at all. No movers either. I have several business and coordinating a move of things between them and the storage place is exhausting and technical, but not nearly as frustrating as finding out after 5pm the night before that I don't actually HAVE the agreement or the movers. read more

I truly believe in supporting small businesses, especially in Alaska. Unfortunately, I cannot write a positive review for Allison's relocations. My initial impression was great, but they did not deliver. I had three pallets packed and sent to Phoenix, Arizona. The day I met with the movers to get my things in Arizona an entire pallet was missing. Once the lost pallet was found, a week later, another day was scheduled for me to meet with the movers to obtain my things. I called three times that day to ensure that I would be available and was reassured each time that I would receive a phone call when they were on the way. The drop-off time was between 10 am- 5pm. At 5:30 pm I received a phone call from the local mover in Arizona and he told me that they in fact did not ever find the pallet. I talked with Alison's in Anchorage and they were apologetic and seemed like they cared and offered me $750 for my troubles thus far. The next day the pallet was found, and when they delivered it, it was incomplete and trashed. I filled out a claim with Alisons. They sent me a check for $570 and denied offering me the $750. Alison actually told me that I should be mad at myself for not purchasing the insurance and also told me that I was never offered $750 reimbursement. She also told me that she was going to put her staff thru a lie-detector test to prove that. It should be noted that it was Alisons idea to put her staff thru a lie-detector test. Needless to say, I never heard from her again. I rearranged my schedule to accommodate their poor communication and terrible delivery. Do yourself a favor and use somebody else. read more

Alison's just helped our state government office move in and out of our suite over about 10 days while we had carpet installed. They were VERY good. Jim and Brendan were careful with our things, on time, and communicated clearly with us about our expectations and their requests. They provided boxes and were just really very helpful in every way. All of this happened just as COVID was really kicking into high gear and they went about their tasks calmly and quickly. They were very careful and caring with our family treasures. The packing was very thorough and complete. Even more than those basic moving needs that were so well handled, the moving crew was an absolute pleasure. Great moving experience with Alison's Relocations! We moved our corporate offices impacting 40 people across town. The pre-move organization with Rick was really good: our scope of work was fully defined and a quote was provided based upon our total move over two days estimating 8 hours and 12 men (overtime rate for a Saturday and Sunday move was defined up front). Alison's provided not only packaging for our PCs and monitors, but also colored labels and we segregated different parts of the building into different colors. It made it so much easier to define where the people were sitting in their new space and where their boxes went, and this is how the trucks were loaded and unloaded. Rick hosted two pre-meetings on site so our staff could ask questions about the moving process, which was really appreciated by all. The days of the move (completed over Saturday and Sunday) the moving crew showed up on time both days with ~12 men and completed the pack-up on their trucks in a matter of hours...there were a lot of boxes and heavy/full filing cabinets to move but this wasn't an issue. We used pallets and a forklift at the original site to bring 2nd floor items down to the loading docks, and unloaded via both loading dock and staircase at the new site. The organization of the moving team was incredible as they completed the unloading and distribution of boxes in a short amount of time. The men were well organized and had no problem asking me questions when guidance was needed. They took great care when packaging up art and other valuables, as well as the large furniture which was moved. Their service exceeded my expectations. Thanks Alison's. read more

Hideous and expensive move at close to $18,000. from Alaska into the Lower 48. They broke the glass in our mahogany China cabinet to begin. No idea where to have it repaired as the broken glass window is attached to the entire piece. More? They lost numbered boxes! No surprise as the guy who drove the truck across country had no crew ready to unload. No idea where the two guys were found to help. The trucker dismissed both, and finished the move himself. Back to the unsatisfactory packing. It could have been done better by our under ten years old grandchildren. Forget unpacking! There wasn't anyone, although the trucker who made a valiant effort to find the missing boxes, and tried to argue against noting the missing boxes or the obvious damage, probably would have helped. More packing examples? Not only did they use five pieces of wrapping paper to wrap a single box of baking soda, but also they used two single sheets to wrap an entire set of glass, vintage, luncheon plates. Of course, several were broken. Three expensive lampshades with no packing of any sort were stacked within each other and came in one box. Thank heavens our fine porcelain lamps that had been my husband's mother's were not harmed. An absolute miracle. Not only did they use a foreign language to itemize the move, but didn't pack in any order. Things like matching items such as two miniature, hand-painted lampshades that remove when moved that go on two very small, mantle lights were all in different boxes, at least three of the four pieces were. We are still missing one of the two lampshades. Maybe it is in one of the missing boxes, or wrapped and hidden somewhere within furniture. It would be no surprise. Zero follow-up. do not use alison's relocation company! consider this as your warning! do not be like me, who gave them the benefit of the doubt after i read bad reviews. i assumed that bad experience is a case to case basis, thinking as long as i am prepared, i will be able to file claim if there is something damaged or lost. wrong! unfortunately for me. i took pictures and videos. but that didn't help with my claim. horrible experience. household goods net weight 3106 lbs, from anchorage ak to rosamond, ca. paid $6126.02.pre-packed service. i packed small items they do big items and just load. two movers came at 9:15am, truck driver arrived at 10:30am, they packed from 9:15 to 3:00pm. take note everything is packed. they only need to wrap and load. 2 bedroom set, tv's and dining table. again, everything else is packed. they took 3- 30 minutes break and 1.5 hours lunch. one mover even snoozed on top of the moving blankets after lunch for 30 minutes. thank god i am not charged by the hour, i think. my security system captured the entire event. i checked before they loaded our items. the guy that is packing, insisted that i don't have to check the list and worry about the list when receiving the items. i told him, i want to make sure that everything is listed, so i know what to receive. true enough, i found two tv's that were not listed, my 50 inch was listed as 32 inch and my 65' tv is not listed at all. good thing i checked. time frame, april 19, household delivered in rosamond, june 5th. we were informed that our household good arrived in montana (the third party company place) may 10th, sat there until june 3rd. delivered to our house in cali june 5th. when it got to california, we checked and made sure that everything listed is accountable, damaged items are listed. but ofcourse, we missed one. after the movers left, we turned on all our tv's and discovered that our 65' tv has a crack on the side and created a white line on the screen. i emailed and sent picture right away, this all happened an hour after the movers left. emailed was time stamped. their response: claim was denied because they cannot established that the item was damage while on their possession. really? why would i spend money sending it and paying for shipment, i even requested and paid $150 for a customized box for the 2 tv's. the first thing that bothered me was, the third party company driver, hired a local mover that he knows to help him unload. take note. the person is not employed with the company. it is just a random guy from the area. $5000 worth of damaged, they want to settle it to $200. i emailed them back to find out how to appeal decision. i will update once i hear back from them. read more

Stay away! Defiantly the worst experience and customer service I've ever experienced. They missed the day our stuff was to be shipped, they told us it should cause I delay on arrival and boy was that false. I stuff arrived 2 weeks later then they committed to us. They took our household items in a shipping container on the sept 17th and it didn't arrive until the 28th! Spoke to Allison the owner and she refused to even apologize or take accountability. Making matters worse, they refused to track the container for us after laughing at us on the phone. Finally we got the container # and Matson was shocked we were calling and not them. Finally able to track it and when it arrived we were told by the driver they couldn't drive it to our neighborhood. So much for door to door delivery. We had to pay a moving company to removed our items from a parking lot 8 miles away, load it into their truck, then delivery to our door. Allison Relo refused to pay for that as they said it's not their problem. They were hired to manage logicatics and it was a nightmare where we were left on our own. They offered no apology, laughed at us, and refused to take any accountability. The mistake we made was not asking our local friends who to use because we when shared our experiences, they told us that's what to expect from Allison Relo. read more

The office staff has become so accustomed to lying to the customer that they believe their lies are true. Hoping the owner (Alison McDaniel) would have some honesty and integrity we requested to meet with her personally. Amazingly, she also lied right to our faces. She was a rude, abrasive, arrogant, conceited, condescending, and immature excuse for an owner/business woman. My advice to you is to find any other moving company. Moving is one of the most stressful times in your life. My family had to do it twice in a year period. Allison's was there both times....on our moclve to Alaska and then on our move back home. Initially, I found Allison's online after an extensive search when we were moving to.Anchorage from San Diego, CA. Ben was my point of contact then...incredible guy with great values and dedication to the customer. He has helped me every step of that move including telling me a little about Anchorage and Eagle River so I feel like I k ow where I'm going. The goods got delivered in 4 weeks and the movers that came to unload were a pleasure. Super professional and quick. We were unloaded and beds made in under 3 hours. The delivery driver's name was "House". My husband and I will never forget his ethical standards and kindness. Due to a medical issue 20 months later, we found ourselves needing to move back to San Diego. Without a hesitation, we called Allison's and set up our move. No big surprise that this move back was just as smooth as the scary move to Alaska. Funny enough, "House" came to pack us up and remembered us from before. Again, the pack up.was quick and courteous. Ben worked with me on the schedule and was very helpful as this was a last minute decission and finances were tight. We are now back in San Diego and are extremely happy with the service that was provided for us on the move back home. If you're moving in the Anchorage area stay FAR away from Alisons Relocation. Not only do they have the most unprofessional and rude office staff, their movers are thieves. A box worth about $800 dollars magically falls off the truck, their so called "manager" says we won't be charged until it's resolved, yet here we are, now out a ridiculous amount of money. Has also reviewed some of their processes that caused the failure in the first place. Can unreservedly recommend at this point. I was super disappointed since the experience I had with them had been so good. Was in Oregon due to catastrophic illness and needing to have stuff moved from storage in Alaska to me here. Very stressful, and they coordinated with the storage company to go in and get the stuff. They were great. Right up until my stuff arrived and a couple of items were damaged, including a glass nanocube fishtank that had been wrapped in a shipping blanket and taped up with no other protection. I had emailed and called and spoke with the person at Allison's who sent me the paperwork - still have those emails in fact. Was VERY clear that I needed replacement insurance since I was not there to supervise the packing. Filled out the paperwork exactly as she instructed with the understanding that this would accomplish what I needed. Then when I filed my claim...nothing. No response. Finally after several calls leaving messages called the main number and...you guessed it! "She doesn't work here anymore". And my claim? Got paid at the cents per pound rate. Not at replacement value. Because even though I paid for replacement coverage they never provided it. Don't know if "Beth" pocketed the difference or just shoved the paperwork in a drawer. Never cashed the tiny check they sent since it has printed on it that it constitutes an acceptance of the terms they were paying under. Can't afford an attorney to pursue it for the cost of a $300 aquarium - fixed the other breakages myself. Wish I could give a better review after how hard Ben worked. But I see that empty vintage television that my tank went into every day and cannot afford to replace it now. read more

My husband and I moved here eight months ago and had signed a years lease with the intent to stay longer anyhow long story short the home we were renting was sold out from underneath us. Still being new to the area not even a year under our belt yet we needed help in our hurried move and Alison's came through with flying colors! From the moment I called to inquire about local moves the staff was friendly and courteous, happy to help answer my questions and fulfill our requests and needs. The morning of the move they called before hand to let us know when they would be arriving and keep their word on every front they promised. Oh and did they ever deliver! The crew was Tim, Kevin and Nemo and I can't sing enough praises for these three men! They were on the ball! Professional, informative, efficient and they went above and beyond and were able to move a tall bench restaurant style couch that had been sitting on its end in the other garage since we moved here because that moving company couldn't get it through the doors. I was so bummed because I had bought it brand new before we left the lower 48 and couldn't wait to use it. I would pull in everyday into the garage with a bit of a let down seeing my beautiful new couch sitting there and not being enjoyed. When the crew was informed of this they said no problem we will get it in your new home, it will fit! They did and I was elated! Worst experience ever. I had my property shipped out-of-state with $30K insurance. After only receiving some of my property, much of it broken, I filed a claim for the many missing items. Rather than assist, Allison's actually told the insurance co. that some of my property could still be in my original home! Then, 7 MONTHS later, I learned that most of my property had been destroyed in a vehicle crash, which Allison's had failed to disclose. AND if that's not enough, Allison's then told the insurance co. that Allison's had failed to charge me for the insurance, so I had not paid for it anyway! I'm still fighting my claim, with ZERO help from Allison's, despite that I'd spent tens of thousands of dollars to Allison's for moving and storage over the past 2 years.
