We've had two excellent experiences with Superman Moving in Anchorage, both in-town moves from a residential area to warehouse storage. During our first experience, it was 4th of July weekend of 2020 and the movers we had hired backed out the morning of the move - we were distraught! Thankfully, when we called Superman they were able to put us on the schedule for that Monday, despite it being a holiday. The crew showed up on time, moved everything within the 2 hour window, and were very polite and courteous. Fast forward a couple years, and we called Superman again to arrange moving a few more things into storage - they were easy to schedule, called and texted to confirm 2 days out, and showed up right on time ready for a few hurdles (art hung very high, extremely heavy mirrored furniture, Sleep Number beds). What impressed me most was how delightful and happy the crew was while facing all these hurdles - my kudos to their HR department, 'cause these guys were not only polite and courteous to their clients, but also to each other. One member of the crew was clearly junior, and new to the job - the other two experienced movers took the extra steps to show him how to do it, correct him kindly when he needed, and never yelled or otherwise used negative reinforcement. Outstanding service from the first phone call requesting a move out in Fairbanks. The company was going to be in Fairbanks so they talked to the team and got me in. The crew was amazing . Professional yet not stuffy . They were so careful with my furniture. They delivered the furniture to my new home and set it up, they put my sliders under the furniture. We used this company to transport two vehicle's and all household items from Anchorage, AK to Florida. The vehicles came down okay with the exception of a dent on the cab or my truck. It took me six month to get their insurance to fix it, they finally paid to repair it. Our household goods was another thing. There was delay after delay and the reason given was no drivers or our truck broke down. One time they informed me our goods was delayed in Utah waiting for a driver and truck. They were there for over month. When we finally received them, there were several boxes broken into and the contents destroyed. We out in a claim for $836.00 and they offered $157.60. We didn't accept that offer. I would not recommend this company for any long haul move ever again. read more

Superman came to my condo building to move a neighbor. The workers were outside MY window shouting to eachother. I asked them to please stop yelling, it's early in the AM and I work nights. The worker then yelled back to me to "not worry about it" and "it'll be ok". Which was so bizarre and rude. do NOT use Superman moving company! They hold your stuff hostage and demand more money despite an agreed upon price! It's been over 14 weeks and thousands of dollars (paid to them) to ship our household to us. They call every two weeks to say that if we want our stuff shipped out in the next shipment (in two weeks) it will cost another thousand for them to store our stuff while they wait to ship it!!!! Then call back in 2 weeks and say it won't go out until another 2 weeks and need more $ for storing. The contract stated 4 to 8 weeks, it's now been 14 weeks and they still haven't shipped anything. WARNING We chose Superman to move our things to Texas from Alaska because they had the most reasonable price. But that initial price was a lie. I feel like I've been scammed, honestly. They keep your things for what seems like as long as they please all the while charging you over 300 for storage fees. A couple months later they are saying ok we will ship your stuff but we are going to need even more of your money 641 to be exact. And what are we supposed to do? Not pay and not receive our things? What should have been a simple process became a nightmare. It took 6 months to get delivery of our possessions. And this was a move to Washington state, not across the country. I used Superman Moving and Stoage to move from Anchorage to the Huntsville, AL area. It was a bad experience from the start. They were late to my estimate appointment, when they came to pick up my things they had an inadequate truck and we had to wait hours for another.They severely underestimated the weight of my things resulting in doubling the cost of the move (after they already had the stuff), they delayed my move and charged me for ten weeks of storage. After the 10 weeks, they held it for about two more months. The things arrived battered and beaten. An oak desk was broken in multiple places and had dirty foot prints on it, broken glass on a giant light table used for work, the stickers were difficult to remove and stuck in prominent places on pieces, etc. etc. Calling to check on things was a challenge, rudeness and dismissal, unreturned calls. I paid thousands of dollars to them, but was only paid 60 cents a pound for the damage they caused and nothing for the time and items I had to buy to survive in my new home without my belongings for two months past my promised delivery date. I've had so many issues with this company. Don't hire them! For one thing when I called they quoted me a totally different price and I even payed $300 deposit. After that they said I owe d way more than that to my surprise. I knew I would owe more but not that much. The movers were very nice and did a somewhat good job. They were very rough with some of my items but at the same time the one guy took the time to box items that were just left in bags. The other guy actually broke a glass top to a desk and then acted like it was not a big deal. Afterwards I was harassed with emails ands calls about paying and it's only been a week and they never even sent a invoice that explains what I owe and explains everything that I owe. If I could leave negative stars, I would. My move began on 03 October 2022, out of Alaska. My items were delivered in Texas on 02 January. They over-charged me several hundred dollars before they even hit the road. They conveniently "lost" my firearms (Anchorage Police are involved). They just now paid me for one firearm (on 09 June 2023). They damaged my trash can beyond repair. The instructions I gave about my master bed were not followed - despite being promised by Clint (sales guy) that they would be. Now my $6000 bed is destroyed. Their insurance doesn't pay the value (it pays 60 cents per pound) and they even denied the claim! They used cheap tape that stuck to the hood of my John Deere mower (can't get it off). I've been lied to by April, Josh, and Lana. They wrapped my furniture in old blankets that seemingly had cat crap on them, then sealed it with red cellophane - so the odor stayed. You're better off throwing away your belongings and just starting over than you are hiring this company. Anchorage PD told me they've heard really bad things about Superman. I wish I would have known before I signed on the dotted line. Buyer beware!!! read more

Superman helped me moved from my old apartment to my current one late March this year. Management and customer service over phone and email were great, but the movers were...awkward at best. Three men moved all of my belongings into the truck efficiently and without breaking or damaging anything. I was clearly moving out of the apartment by myself, but for some weird reason, one of the guys asked if I had any kids. I don't know why he thought that was an appropriate question to ask when there were clearly no children or children's belongings. But I digress. My new apartment is only about 1-2 miles from my old apartment, so I thought they would have an easy enough time finding the new place, especially since they were following me in my car. Right as the truck was turning into the street I live on, they somehow completely missed the building and went all the way to the end of the street and had to circle around. I wasn't sure where they were going so I called customer service to let them know what happened. The man on the phone (manager I believe) was very apologetic and thankfully the truck arrived not much later. My biggest problem with the movers is when I had to sign the paperwork at the end. The man (different one than previously mentioned) pointed out where I could leave a tip. I personally think it's not appropriate to solicit tips from customers, especially when you're the one providing the service. The man was standing right next to me so I felt obligated to leave a tip, even though I didn't feel it was warranted. My concern was later brought up with the manager, who agreed what the employee did was inappropriate and later refunded the tip. I appreciate management being responsive to customer concerns, which is why I'm giving three stars instead of two. The company might want to consider hiring movers who act more professionally though. All in all they got the job done with minimal issues which in the end is all that really matters. read more

Was ready to use Superman moving company to get items down to Seattle. They tend to use a bait and switch approach, meaning they offer a low rate of 99 cent a pound to get you involved in calling them. Then there are a bunch of hidden costs they don't tell you about, like how they are going to store your stuff up to 9 weeks, and charge you storage fees, then a 300$ gas fee, then a fee for using your credit card to pay them. I rarely do this, but recently after several moves with this company was totally overbilled and the scheduling, staff and management were beyond disrespectful. I was referred by a friend to this company and had no problem with the actual movers. I scheduled my move and they brought the wrong truck, they didn't complete the move and not only charged me for another move but scheduled me for a 3rd move that I didn't need. They put the wrong address down and the actual moving team was given the wrong information each time and I had to correct it. I don't plan to recommend or use this outfit again especially due to the staff and management. I can say that the actual moving staff have always been amazing. I am going through a divorce and needed my soon to be ex husbands stuff out of my house. No storage unit would take his stuff knowing the situation. Superman Movers came to my home picked up his stuff, put it in storage and agreed to hold it until the agreed deadline at my expense. At that point when the deadline expires, its up to him to pay for his storage or loose his property. No liability on my shoulders. Even though my soon to be ex was very nasty and belligerent with the office staff, they were great for me to deal with. I know you want to know why, because based on my previous mixed review, which was good services from the actual moving guys, i felt like I'd been manipulated into leaving a good review. As stated in that review, i would have left a decent review anyway, but when they dangled a juicy carrot in front of my nose (aka Food Gift Card) that just gave me more of a motivation to make it even more glowing. Anyway, as you know, no Gift Card was forthcoming, and I let them know I was not best pleased about this, then left my review here on Yelp. So no one was more surprised than me, when today, out of the blue, i received a call from Superman, thanking me for my glowing review (which I'd removed) and asking if i was home, so they could drop by and give me the promised Gift Card. And as good as his word, he did that. Very nice of them, i must say. I did not have any issues with their staff, it was that one issue with the Gift Card that was the basis of my annoyance. We had two small UPack pods shipped from South Carolina. The crew picked up from the port, came to my house, moved items from upstairs to the downstairs, then unloaded the truck. *DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY* I had a recent move with them. While the moving crew (3 guys) were polite at first, they were inexperienced and broke several furniture items while moving them, and handled my belongings very carelessly. One of the items was a brand new $1200 chest of drawers; they snapped the leg off. They entirely neglected to deliver a chair, worth $700. The company said it was my fault that I didn't notice it was missing. I was honestly too busy monitoring the flow of traffic that the moving truck was blocking to see that it was missing in the moment; plus they scattered my things everywhere between 2 floors. They also broke my oak kitchen table, to which I received $0 in compensation because I did not have a clear photo of the damage. Additionally, when we were at my new location, they repeatedly parked the truck in a way that entirely blocked anyone living in the complex to enter or exit (there is only one entry/exit way). I had to insist they move the truck when a line of cars would form, and the response I received from the movers was very irritable and they reiterated "we are on your time.." eluding to the fact that every time they had to move the truck, I was being charged more money for the time spent. One of the 4 times they had to move the truck, they forced other residents to wait nearly 20 minutes to enter/exit and ignored my repeated requests to move the truck and park it differently. The issue is that they seemed to have no regard for other people living here and repeatedly parked their truck in a way that blocked the driveway, and caused them to stop the moving process and take the time to move it. I believe they parked it in the location that they did because they said they did not want to have to use the stairs to bring in items, and rather chose to hoist/toss/shove my belongings through a second floor narrow window, nearly dropping things several times. Once the move was complete and the damage was done, I could not get a response from the company. The claim I filed was through CSI and for over $3000 worth of lost/damaged furniture, I was offered $54. I will tell everyone I know who is moving to 100% avoid this company. They are fraudulent and do not provide the good service they promise. read more

Superman moving used to be good but they aren't anymore. I hired them to move me across town (Anchorage) and ended up with several broken pieces of furniture and other damaged items due to how everything was packed into the truck (which was barely operational). When we arrived at my new address and discovered the broken items, they offered to take them away so I wouldn't have to take anything to the dump myself. I'm glad I didn't let them have any of my damaged stuff because they are insured through a third party company called CSI which requires detailed pictures and cost details. BUT... after going through the claim process (painful), I was offered $172 reimbursement for everything because they are only ensured 60 cents per pound. So... if they completely destroy your dining room table worth $1200 and it only weighs 100 lbs, you will still only receive receive $60!! There is no way I can replace, let alone repair, all of the furniture they broke with $172. You should definitely think twice before hiring this company!!!! read more

We used them because they were a local business and very nice on the phone. They were also very nice and helpful when they picked up our goods for storage until our home in Floridia was completed. When we contacted them to send our household good to us; that was when the trouble began. Several employees were a little loose with the truth and between no drivers and vehicles breaking down, plus our goods remained in Montana for several weeks. We finally got our goods three months after and you said it; there were boxes broken open and we had $892.89 damage to kitchen ware and a stand-up fan that was broken. You do not know what the runaround is until you try and file a claim. There are so many roadblocks put up you want to sit down a cry. I recommend customers find another moving company if you are moving out of Alaska. read more

I am not a fan. To begin with, they were late because of an issue with dispatch. They left a bunch of stuff at the old house (they did not do a walk-through before they left and it wasn't worth their hourly rate to have them go back). The stuff they left behind included a large painting my husband had told at least two of them about (telling them to be careful with it). We paid them to pack and they packed breakables like ceramic bookends and picture frames without wrapping them in anything. And they broke. Of course. They also broke the top piece off the stairs while moving things into the new house. We haven't finished unpacking. I'm sure there will be more for me to dislike. Also, they are not cheap. I ordered a treadmill that had to be shipped into anchorage and I got word the day before it was going to show up that it would just be dropped off in my front yard- we are a talking a 300-400lb box. So I called Superman moving with super short notice and they were able to schedule me to send guys to come help me get it upstairs the next day. Unfortunately the shipping company got delayed and didn't deliver in the time frame they said they would so Superman went above and beyond for me! They had their guys who would have been done for the day hang out until my delivery was made so they could still come help me out that same day. I can't thank them enough for their amazing customer service and willingness to make sure I got the help I needed. This is a pretty expensive service and you can find way cheaper moving companies (less than half the price) for the same work performed. The manager I talked to was absolutely not helpful and not willing to work with me to find a solution. She decided to use her position to just persist on what she said to be the only way without considering any other options. I can't believe I've had to resort to this - but I feel the need to warn others so they can avoid this company. We use them to move out of state because we wanted to support a local company and they seemed to have a good reputation for local moves. This company clearly does not have the capacity nor the transportation resources to handle out of state moves (and this what they told us on several calls). I've been through enough moves to know that flexibility is always necessary...so when they told us (once everything was packed on their truck in our driveway) that instead of a week or two, it would be 6-10 weeks - and we would have to pay them for storage- we were upset, but figured "what else can we do?" On our last call with them (weeks ago) they said they didn't have any trucks available and couldn't even get us an estimated time frame, now they are not even responding to us. We're sleeping on the floor, having to purchase stuff that we already own, and they keep charging our credit card with no explanation. Find another company, folks, moving is stressful enough without having to deal with a horrible company like Superman. read more
