I used these people for a small, local move of some furniture from Fred Meyers to my apartment in…read moreWasilla, in past years, and they were fine. However, I used them for a longer distance move, and packing, in late March/early April of 2014, and they were generally disrespectful and messy. They did some things okay, and some not, and I was going to let it go as an experience I was glad was over. They did mess up some small items, but I thought that was par for the course, and I was never going to say anything about it, but before long, I discovered a bed was badly damaged and it appeared really abused and filthy. I see no possible explanation other than it was made that way accidentally, or deliberately by the movers. Other than the movers, and myself, there was never anyone around the bed who could have caused that kind of damage to it, and I know I certainly didn't do it. I made a complaint through BBB in about May or June, as soon as I saw the damages. I absolutely treated the item gently, and kept it immaculate, always, and at all times, without exception. Whoever responded from their company, did so after many requests, and did so anonymously, and their responses were very childish, rude, and unprofessional. I asked for them to make good on the bed, which they almost certainly damaged, and they treated me with utter disdain and disrespect, and thought up every reason under the sun why we might have damaged it. That wasn't the worst of it, however, they engaged in what seemed like character assassination, and childish insults, on irrelevant subjects, and insulted me and my family, in every possible way. I paid in excess of $6,000 for the move, and I would expect only that all of my important items would be delivered to me in reasonable condition. They were not! The bed was ruined, and it has to be replaced. They refused to even meet me halfway, and I think that is detestable. BBB offered arbitration, which meant my legal rights were surrendered forever, and I chose not to do it in part because I doubted their complete impartiality. I was treated fine by BBB. They were patient and courteous, but I would never pay any attention to their ratings, ever again since they apparently still give this company their best rating, and that's just wrong. I don't trust BBB's ratings, any more. I was not treated right by Valley Moving & Storage, and I would not recommend them, not now and not ever! I would recommend to someone moving to get friends to help move you. That's probably the best bet. Or use a well-known international mover if you dare, or rent a UHaul or the like, and do it yourself. Good luck on your moves, but I would recommend you do anything but use this company for moving assistance.

After researching our options, we decided the U-Pack was the way to go, and I'm really glad we did. Customer service was incredible, everyone was so friendly and helpful, answering my questions patiently. Goods arrived in great condition, and the only things that were damaged were because we didn't pack them carefully enough. We can definitely tell that some jostling happened, but that's to be expected. They came in under budget, which seems like it almost never happens. I have nothing but great things to say about them. They dropped off the container when they said they would, and picked it up promptly when we were finished. They found a creative way to park the container safely in our driveway in Anchorage despite the 100 inches of snow that has fallen this year. Our things arrived within the promised timeframe, and in fact they arrived early. Overall, our move was a real hassle, but it had nothing to do with U-Pack and everything to do with the fact that we are three pack rats who lived in Alaska for 25 years and collected far too much stuff.
