Rip off con artists! Originally I was quoted fourteen thousand dollars to move all of my stuff and my school bus to alaska. Then they did the switcheroo, and told me. It 29k without my school bus Absolute bs. These people are high if they think. I'm going to pay twenty nine thousand dollars without my school bus to move my shit to alaska. I've talked to several other moving. Companies in this price is almost 19k more than what i've been quoted everywhere else for just my stuff. These People are out to make a quick buck. This company really came through for us. We had a last minute need for a moving company and we received a quote for their services that also included the price for having our items shipped with AML. They were up front about all the charges and we were able to book them for the day we needed. We ended up not needing to use their services and they were very professional about our cancellation. I would highly recommend them as they do their best to accommodate your schedule and their pricing was very reasonable. Everyone I spoke with was very professional and helpful. If we need to use a moving service in the future, I'll definitely be calling them again and recommending them to others. read more

I worked with Royal Alaskan Movers over a period of time to receive a quote to move from Alaska to the lower 48. after a couple of quotes, I had several repeated questions to verify what was included in crating, how they shipped and clarification on the insurance in several emails and phone messages because I did not want huge surprise charges after the fact, but my questions kept getting ignored. I finally got through to Diana and she loosely answered some on the phone but when I asked her to please put it in the written quote I never heard from her again. Later I reached the owner and the smae thing happened. Since I asked to have it in writing they completely ghosted me and would not reply to my emails or phone calls. HUGE RED FLAG!! read more

Amazing company! They went above and beyond for me. I had a HUGE sectional and a LONG flight of stairs.. and they tackled it like a beast! And without damaging anything! Justin was super nice, even helped me with my door security I was to weak to install myself ( I live in sketchy part of anchorage) He explained all my paper work throughly, and made sure I had a clear understanding of what was going on. I could not give this company a more terrible review. My husband and I moved from Texas to Alaska in September, we were originally quoted three thousand dollars for our move after a zoom call where I showed them the things I had boxed up and the unboxed things I was planning on moving. I realize the price was not going to be exact but I certainly did not expect a 6 thousand dollar price difference, I would of chosen a different moving company had I known that, hell I could of went somwhere else and saved a few thousand because I had gotten multiple quotes from multiple companies. But by the time I found out how much I was being charged they already had my belongings across country headed to my new home. My husband also had his snap on tool box shipped through this company, anyone that knows snap on, knows it's expensive, and heavy. My husband told them multiple times on how to move such a large tool box ( you'd think they know being that they are movers ) and told them multiple times to not use a fork lift to move it, but they did, and that's how the bottom drawer of his tool box got totaled. The movers that physically moved the box assured us that they shipping company would refund the cost of our tool box- said tool box is well over 20k. My husbands a compressor tech who needs a fully functioning tool box in order to do his job, so you can imagine how stressed we were about the damage. We were originally told we were going to be refunded the full amount of the cost for moving the tool box ( around 2600 ) because we couldn't find a shop that was able to fix the tool box, we were eventually able to find a body shop in town that was going to fix the bottom half of the drawer and then the shipping company decided to go back on their word and not refund us the full amount of the shipping the tool box and just pay for the repairs of the tool box, AND not even pay the cost of getting the tool box towed to the shop that fixed it, there and back costed 350$- we actually asked twice for reimbursement both times our question was ignored. I would also like to mention the absolute horrible, rude customer service I got from Chase. It took weeks for him to reply at times, and his communication over email was murky and confusing to understand. There were multiple times I was actually astonished a the treatment I received- so much so that I told my husband to take over communicating with him. I will mention the person who picked up our belongings, his name was JP I believe was incredibly kind and helpful. But yeah. Like I said I could not leave this place a more terrible review I absolutely do not recommend them. What a horrible experience during an already very stressful time and it's been months trying to get it figured out. I spent 20 + years in the military and have had my household goods packed and shipped and delivered 5 times over the the years. Without fail, each time we'd receive our household goods we would expect to go through the claims process to be compensated for damaged, missing or lost items and without fail we would have to do just that. Recently, my wife and I made our retirement move from Anchorage AK to Goodyear AZ. We decided in advance to ship only the items we absolutely loved. Based on our past experience we took out the max insurance just to be sure we would be covered "when" our goods arrived damaged. Remarkably, everything arrived intact with no and we mean "NO DAMAGE NOT EVEN AS MUCH AS A SCRATCH" on anything! Dishes, keepsake furniture and wall hanging, tools, glassware & fragile items. Everything present and accounted and nothing damaged or broken. I'm not being paid to say this nor am I great friends with anyone on the staff at RAM. They aren't the cheapest! We needed an international pack and move from TX to AK due to work and these guys did a phenomenal job. So when we recently sold our house there in AK, we decided to use them again, and this time they exceeded even those expectations. We probably weren't their easiest customers because of several changing variable associated with our moves, but everyone was courteous, professional, and understanding, and the speed of the packing/loading crews has been amazing. We are military and getting ready to move back to the lower 48 and the army assigned this moving company to us. The apartment was small so they were able to pack and load all in one day. 2 Stars only because the items were properly inventoried in Anchorage, they worked with me on the pickup date, the receptionist is nice, and they sent two people to move my household goods. After that everything went downhill. The overall lack of prompt discourse when a shipment is nearing the last phase is detrimental to the client and the client's ability to rearrange their professional and personal obligations. Royal Alaskan also showed poor judgement and organizational skills by sending one person to a two person job. Neither the driver nor I should have been placed in a position to try to source labor assistance within the hour at the end of a work day. As a customer, I also should not have been placed in a position to assist the driver in order to not extend a simple 27 piece move from 1 to 2 days in length. In essence, Royal Alaskan provided an amateur product at a professional price to which I am highly unsatisfied. I would recommend that Royal Alaskan utilizes the knowledge of their local affiliates and employ better project tracking and management techniques to ensure that they are providing a consistent and quality product to their clients. In short the following was my experience: 1. Only one person (the driver) being dispatched to unload and move household goods 2. The request for the driver (from the office) to ask a stranger off the street for help, my involvement in attempting to source additional labor, and ultimately my providing additional labor services (such as moving boxes from the threshold inside the house, inventory, and lifting of furniture items from the delivery truck to my home) 3. The absence of input from a local carrier affiliate in regards to appropriate delivery vehicles 4. Notification less than 12 hours before delivery. I was called at 2:55 pm Monday that they would be there Tuesday morning and that I could not reschedule with the local affiliate as they did not use a local affiliate, despite that being the understanding I had at the onset and based upon my previous experience with interstate moves 5. Radio silence between Wednesday, March 15 and Monday, March 20 in regards to the changing ETA target (it shifted from 16-20 to 21-22), confirming an ETA, and general operational aspects that could have facilitated better planning. I have a job and I was constantly rescheduling my workdays to accommodate moving ETA targets. 6. The customer initiating the request for the invoice; First request on March 1 and invoice received March 6. I should not have to beg for the bill. read more

OK. These guys have issues. They packed produce. Thanks for the box of rotten garlic that I recieved a month after it was packed and shipped through damn near 100 degree heat. They all had horrible body odor at the BEGINNING of the day and it was all through the house. Fastforward to me recieving my stuff and all my clothing smells like them. Taking a crap in my bathroom then coming out and packing my kitchen things. My husband asked for help carrying a heavy item upstairs and they refused because we weren't taking it. I was so happy when they were done. Now to wash all the funk out of clothing I took care to wash BEFORE they even got there. Don't try to be funny and say the funk belongs to my family. I REMEMBER what they smelled like. They smelled like they didn't bother to shower any of the days they worked at my house. They filled the place with stank butt and armpit smell. I am just beyond frustrated with the fact that their odor got into my clothes. I can only imaging with the warehouse and truck must have smelled like. Every box we opened smacked us in the face with nasty funk. The clothing held the smell. I'm also reporting this problem to TMO. It is over the top. Have a smug attitude and make smart remarks all you want, but don't stink up my household goods. Unprofessional. Kept giving fake names because they knew they were messing up. Tell my what Jim,Frank, and Neil you know from Samoa that barely speaks English? Of TMO tries to send this company, ask for someone else. They don't deserve to work for military families. The lack of professionalism, the attitude, the smugness, and the nastiness is just a flat out disgrace. Moving across the country is stressful enough. read more

They moved us to California. I have never seen worse packing in my life. They wrapped plastic items in rolls of paper, and left fragile items unwrapped and shoved into boxes full of large heavy objects. My copper cookware never even showed up, and most of my dishes and all of our good knives disappeared too. No response from the company. The absolute worst job I have ever seen. WOLF in sheep clothing! This company seems EXTREMELY capable and kind but are actually unapologetic and careless. We chose this company because they are in charge of big accounts in AK and on the surface they seemed to be better suited for a big move compared to other moving companies available in Alaska. Unfortunately, we were deceived BIG time. I find it to be such a strange coincidence that my very expensive stroller and brand new frame baby carrier went missing. I was told that I would have six months (it's actually 75 days) to make a claim so naturally I filed mine early and naively trusted them to contact me when the claim was coming to a close. GUESS WHAT?! Not only did they NOT contact me but when I finally couldn't wait any longer and contacted them they passed me off to the insurance company who then notified me that my claim deadline was in ONE WEEK! Had I not contacted them I would have missed my deadline and guess what... I would have been out of luck. We buy nice things so we don't have to replace them for years and pass down to a second child... We don't have the money to replace nice things just because a third party misplaced them. Definitely feel like they pulled a fast one on us. We have other pieces of furniture that have been damaged and very poorly packed. In the midst of this I have NEVER EVER heard an apology from the moving company... Even when they have admitted to being careless and feeding me false information. Seriously... how do you lose two large items and not even have the decency to be apologetic?! I am aware that living in Alaska, your options are always limited... but this is just a terrible way to do business. Anywhere else and this company would be bankrupt and neck high in legal issues. I called Royal Alaskan to move an antique piano out of my basement and over into my new house. The thing is a beast and is always a pain to move, and the staircase was pretty tight. These guys had it up and out very quickly, without a single bang or thump along the way. The job was completed in less time than I was quoted, and all four were polite, friendly, and very personable. Justin and Neil explained everything that was happening, as they had to change tactics along the way a couple times, and they were all extremely careful with my instrument. If I ever need to move that piano again, I will definitely be calling them back. read more

Ive been recently sent to Alaska for a years worth training. I needed to move my sensitive equipment safely to anchorage. I chose Royal Alaskan movers simply because it seemed like a reputable. however my shipment was picked up 2 days late. no big deal, i was not on a time crunch. after my stuff arrived at their Seattle office it all went downhill form there. 1 of my three pallets had been damaged at their terminal and the other two had been doubled stacked on top of each other. now keep in mind this was sensitive seismology equipment that was potentially damaged. Finally pick up my equipment and it looks as though is was taken there by a dog sled team that stopped in hell for 3 days. The claim proses has been a total disaster, I spoke to the owner himself (Richard Dewitt) and his lap dog Randy Caravalho, so far none of them have been able to come up with a fair resolution to compensate me for the damage caused by them. read more

They worked all day and only sat down for 15 minutes to have lunch with us (at our urgence). Highly Recommended !!! i was visiting my brother and his family as they moved to Alaska. he's in the military and got relocated there. during my visit, the movers came to move in their household items. i was a bit surprised when only two of them showed up because there was a lot of stuff. the movers were tj and efrum. they showed up on time (came around 9am), were professional, and worked hard all day. what struck me was how much they interacted with us while they were moving the stuff in. very personable. they even put together the beds and computer desk. I chose the company because of reasonable quotes. Moving from Delta Junction to Wasilla, most companies quoted the same price as what you would pay from the East Coast to Alaska. I spoke with Mr. Lundy and he set everything up. Moving day came and 2 movers came. Cort and T were very efficient, easy to work with and very professional. We packed the majority of our items but they showed care loading and unloading our house hold goods. We have been moving for 10 years being in the military and this has been one of the easiest moves we've had. When there were some minor hiccups, they were very quick to address and solve them. I would recommend the team who helped us with the move to anyone! read more

HORRIBLE! We used Royal Alaskan Movers on our recent move to Hawaii and it has become a complete nightmare. We were told our household items would be packed in the front of our container followed by our motorcycles in the middle of the container and our car in the back of the container. When the container arrived in Hawaii, the motorcycles were parked in the front of the container with all of our household items packed around the them. So at some point our container was unpacked and repacked. Our car was scratched from bumper to bumper on both the driver's side and passenger side. It was clear that the wood used to secure items in the container was dragged up and down the sides of the car. Their response to the scratches on the car was "well you did not buy the extra insurance". This was not our first move to and from the islands and we have never had damage to our items as we had with this company. This was clearly neglect on the movers part. They offered $300 towards buffing of our car to remove the scratches. The car is only a year old with less than 20,000 miles! AND THEN..............to add insult to injury was when the invoice for the move was received and it was over $5,000 more than the quote that we received prior to the move. Completely disgusted and would never use this company again or recommend them to anyone! read more

The jobs got done in timely fashions, they were there when they said they would be and the time it took them was always very close to the estimate. The guys who moved my furniture were great and helpful, dissembling and reassembling furniture and they were very personable and accommodating. I do not recommend Royal Alaskan Movers. As another review stated, options are limited when moving to/from Alaska, so we deal with that. With that being said, my husband and I moved from Dallas to Anchorage in January. Royal Alaskan Movers were fairly professional working with us when we were searching for a moving company. We had scheduled a date for pickup with Royal Alaskan Movers, and as they did not have their own truck or people in Dallas, they outsourced. The problems began at this point. 1. My husband made his last day at work be a Thursday, so that our things could be picked up on Friday. We received notification on Thursday that the contracted movers weren't able to make it out on Friday, and would instead be there Saturday. We had a tight schedule, but we made it work. 2. We were not provided with a Bill of Lading at pickup. We finally got one once our items were in Alaska after pestering them about it. We did receive the inventory and the contact information from the contractor. Unprofessional. 3. After asking repeatedly, we were not provided the exact weight of the shipment to determine cost. This was a value that should have been determined after it was picked up in Dallas. 4. We naively trusted them to continue progressing with our items. As it turns out, our things sat in Montana for two weeks. During that time, we were not communicated to as to where the shipment was when we inquired. I called and spoke with Jennifer multiple times, who was never able to provide a satisfactory answer and evaded answering. The answer began as "the truck broke down," and was eventually avoided altogether. A truck breaking down is one thing, not continuing progress for two weeks, allowing our things to just sit as we wait for them in Anchorage is another. 5. The time frame laid out by the company stated our things would arrive February 4th. Our things were delivered February 8th. Our solid wood futon frame made it to Anchorage two weeks later. 6. On delivery day, we ended up with someone else's garden trellis, which we gave back. Our futon frame was left behind in Montana. Our futon is our couch, so we sat in lawn chairs for two weeks. 7. When our wooden futon arrived, it was broken along one of the main support beams right where people sit. We took pictures and Royal Alaskan reimbursed us. 8. I finally took my mountain bike out of storage now that the weather is nice. The movers took the liberty of removing the front tire, and I was going to put it back on, easy peasy. Nope. The front brakes were torqued and parts were twisted to the point I couldn't get the tire on until the fork was torqued back. I had to take it in and have it fixed. I do not recommend Royal Alaskan Movers. There were more problems with this company than they are worth. read more

After comparing 13 different moving companies for our move from Everett, Wa to Fairbanks, Alaska, My family decided on this company to move our things. Though initially friendly and helpful on the phone, this company has extreme disorganization, laziness and lack of communication. Per their website and my initial set up of the move, the day they picked up our things is the day it would be weighed (you pay by the pound) and you would pay. This began the lack of communication, I called them several times before I finally was given a response that they had not heard what the weight was- this was a week after they picked it up. He said he would call me the following Tuesday with what the weight was. The following Tuesday came and went. I called on Thursday to find out that the man in charge of my account went on vacation for a week and a half and not only did they still not know the weight they had no idea when our things would arrive. I finally had to give the job of calling them to my husband- as a woman they had no respect for me and would not call me back. For a while they did communicate with my husband- only to tell him that our things, 2 1/2 weeks after being picked up remained on a dock in Seattle. Finally our things were delivered. Still no word on the weight or total cost. Finally 2 months and 4 days after picking up our boxes we were called with a weight that was 300 lbs over what we knew the weight to be- we weighed everything before we left and this ended up being a 700 dollar charge over the price I had agreed to. We were charged for the weight of the crate that was used because our some of the odd size of our furniture, a larger crate then normal had to be used, we were told in writing we were not going to be charged the weight of the crate. Had the company told us the weight they day they promised AND their web site says is required THEN we could have contested the accuracy of the scale and had everything reweighed at the facility in Fairbanks to verify the weight- since the scales at the docks are only calibrated every 4 months. With service like this and ripping off their customers, I don't expect this business to stay in business very long. read more

This was one of the worst experiences one could imagine for moving. After we were promised a really good and reasonable price for our move, we were told that they would weigh our stuff before it left the port from Seattle to Anchorage so we could compare weights. When we weight our things, it was around 1000 lbs, They did not keep their promise to us. They never called, and ignored our calls. We did not receive any call until the stuff was on our doorstep. Then, they claimed it was 300lbs more then the actual weight. I know this because I personally recorded and weighed every box and item we had. I spent weeks trying to talk to John, and he would not respond or call me back in any way. Then, I was called twice, as was my wife, one day 5 WEEKS after our stuff arrived, demanding their money. Of course, because of the wrong weight, we were overcharged by a significant amount of money. We will be reporting to the BBB. Please do not use this company. Thanks. read more
