Sourdough Transfer managed to turn a simple 520 sq. ft. apartment move into an all-day circus of incompetence, laziness, and outright disrespect. I have moved multiple times -- including military moves -- and this was, without exaggeration, the most unprofessional experience I have ever had.
The movers were scheduled for 8:00 AM. They didn't arrive until almost 9:00 after calling to say they'd be "a bit late," which apparently translates to nearly an hour behind schedule. Then within minutes of arriving, they LEFT AGAIN because one of them needed to use the bathroom. They disappeared for another hour. So before a single meaningful item had been packed, I'd already lost almost two hours of the day.
What followed was a masterclass in wasting time. These movers spent more time taking breaks, smoking, wandering off, and blasting music than actually moving anything. My neighbors had to repeatedly complain about the volume because these grown men thought my apartment complex was their personal nightclub. At one point, one of them literally opened my apartment window and smoked a joint while on the job. In the apartment. While handling my belongings. While I, an active military member, was standing there. Absolutely unreal.
Meanwhile, after HOURS of "work," almost nothing had actually been packed. I had already organized nearly everything for them beforehand. This was not some massive house packed floor-to-ceiling with clutter. It was a tiny apartment with grouped bins, furniture, dishes, TVs, and books. Yet somehow these people managed to stretch the job into an entire day through a combination of laziness, constant disappearing acts, and what appeared to be a complete lack of urgency or professionalism.
The disrespect somehow kept escalating. They ignored the original packaging I specifically left out for my TVs and treadmill. They repeatedly took breaks every 20-30 minutes. One mover made me leave my own bathroom so he could use it, then apparently skipped washing his hands before going right back to handling my belongings. They dumped my packed cardboard boxes directly into the snow instead of loading them into the truck, then left my possessions sitting outside in freezing conditions for nearly TWO HOURS while they stood around smoking and laughing.
And if that wasn't bad enough, the delivery somehow got worse.
Several boxes arrived burst open. My TV remotes and cords were missing. One of my bookshelves arrived cracked and unstable. Cleaning chemicals were packed with electronics, which caused Pine-Sol to explode all over the contents of one box because it had been packed upside down by what I can only assume was a team of people actively trying to fail at their jobs.
But the most invasive and disturbing part? They emptied my dresser drawers.
I was specifically told during my pre-move inspection that my dresser contents would remain untouched. Instead, these movers went through my dresser anyway, removed everything, and packed it elsewhere for absolutely no reason. This included underwear, personal belongings, jewelry, and cash. Imagine arriving overseas, opening your dresser, and realizing strange men had gone through your intimate belongings despite being explicitly told that wouldn't happen. It felt violating, creepy, and deeply unprofessional.
At this point I genuinely don't know whether Sourdough Transfer employs movers or a traveling frat house with a hand truck and a substance problem.
Late arrivals. Endless breaks. Smoking weed on the job. Mishandling property. Ignoring packing instructions. Damaging furniture. Packing chemicals with electronics. Leaving belongings in snow. Going through private dresser contents. Losing items.
This company did not simply "provide poor service." They failed at virtually every single basic expectation of professionalism and care. If you value your belongings, your time, your sanity, or your privacy, stay far away from Sourdough Transfer. read more
