Went for breakfast on a Wednesday morning and there was almost no one there, which was fine. By the time we left, it was closer to lunch time, so the tables had started to fill up. We ordered breakfast (french toast and biscuits and gravy + egg) and the portions were HUGE. My biscuit and gravy was good, but not like the best I've ever eaten, the biscuit seemed overwhelmed by the gravy, like maybe there wasn't enough biscuit. Thankfully, the food wasn't overly greasy (like your standard greasy spoon fare), so my stomach wasn't absolutely destroyed. Also, the sweet tea is not brewed sweet tea, it's from a fountain and if you like actual sweet tea, you'll appreciate this note more than those who don't like sweet tea. read more

My experience here was pretty good, the Diner wasn't too busy when I went, the servers really make you feel at home. The breakfast wasn't AMAZING by any means though, the french toast was super soft, clearly very fresh, but not very flavorful. The home fries needed a little seasoning but they gave us PLENTY, which was great. Nothing really stuck out as memorable but for $12 the breakfast is worth it if you want plenty leftovers. I believe I had a chorizo burger and that was delicious! The chipotle mayo kinda carried the whole dish for me since I love that stuff but the burger was delicious in it's own right. The fries were pretty mediocre though. All in all the place gets a 4/5 for it's great service more so than it's flavor. The restaurant has a huge menu, tons of delicious sounding options, great atmosphere, awesome servers, the food is just lacking. I think if you come here with kids or someone who really isn't looking for an amazing food experience then this is a nice spot. read more

We've been going to Nautilus since they opened their doors. It it a great place to eat. Have taken family there and have been there as part of groups. This service is good, the team is pleasant and hospitable. The food is great. Their crab soup is fantastic and their omelettes are fabulous. The danger zone is their dessert display with some of the most decadent desserts and sweet tooth tamers available. They give you more than enough food that has lasted us up to three days. I recommend them and will continue to dine there for the foreseeable future, late night or most time of the day. Enjoy. read more

If you're just looking for the greasy spoon basic breakfast, this will suffice. We were greeted by a line at the hostess stand, which seems like it could have a better system. Why make patrons stand in line when you could just take names? I ordered the turkey/avocado omelette. I was unable to switch out my toast for pancakes, which seems odd. I was willing to pay an up-charge but didn't want to be served both; that's wasteful. The toast was not toasted. And the breakfast fries were not very fried. The omelette was okay. My husband ordered the country fried steak and said it was passable. His potatoes were even less fried than mine. Weird. Our server was attentive enough. I'd rate this place 2.5 stars if I could. read more

Ate dinner here for the first time. I had the Mushroom Cheddar burger and my partner had the Gyro Platter. Both were delicious. The fries were hot and tasty. The gyros and burger were very good. Food: This was my first time visiting The Nautilus. My husband and I went for breakfast. The food was decent. We had a common breakfast dish (pancake/waffles, eggs, bacon, and OJ). The one thing that caught us by surprise was the abundance amount of cheese over our eggs! It was a bit of a turn heart. Made me think about my arteries being clogged up. . But the food came out really fast! (I forgot to take a picture because I was very hungry. ) Customer Service Everyone we engaged with was very nice. Overall: A good experience and I'd visit again for a quick breakfast. read more

Stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday. There was no wait. Our waiter was nice and attentive. Our food came out quickly and it was hot and fresh. We plan to return soon to try out their dinner. The menu is huge!!! You are able To order whatever you want. Dinner for breakfast is always an option! Oh and the desserts are endless! There is a separate menu for desserts. I did get a slice of their blueberry cheesecake to go. It was scrumptious. All in all... this diner was a great choice. read more

Stopped in with my family for a late lunch/early dinner around 4 pm. Place was almost completely empty. Got sat right away and thats where service started going down hill. The waitress came off as very rude and didn't like any questions being asked about the menu and very rarely checked on the table to see if anything was needed. The food was ok at best nothing too spectacular and that would make me want to return for. The prices are very high for a diner overall for 2 sandwiches and pancakes for a child cost $58. read more

Dirty. Food was typical. However behind the breakfast bar and around the restaurant nothing is cleaned regularly. Containers are opened and then stored inside of a refrigerator for multiple days without attempting to re seal the container. Staff is disgusting wearing shirts that are always dirty. Floors are stained and rarely cleaned. Glass is dirty and full of finger prints. read more

Went on a Saturday in February 2022. Had planned a working breakfast with a fellow Council member to discuss some City business. I get there and there was about two parties in front of me. An older gentleman was seating customers, I am assuming he was the owner because he was directing everything. He sat the first party and asked the second party was their whole party there, they said no we are waiting for one person, he said when your whole party gets here let me know and you will be seated. He then asked me the same question, my answer was the same as their answer, I was waiting for one person. There was no line so I don't see why we could not be seated. The person I was waiting for arrived and we were seated. The waitress was very friendly and was attentive to our needs. We placed our order and it took a little time for our food to come out. When the food arrived it was cold. The scrambled eggs was over-cooked, the bacon was luke warm and the waffle was not warm enough to melt the butter. My colleague got the fried potatoes which were cold, along with the eggs. The grits were cold. The waffle was over-cooked to the point it was close to being called burnt. The waitress was nice enough to re-heat the grits and she had another waffle prepared which came out nice. We were discussing business as we ate and was nearing the end of our meal. It was a sunny day so all the blinds were pulled down, all of a sudden the older gentleman who I assume is the owner came over to our booth, raised the blind, said I am letting the sun in and stated to us "I am running a restaurant, not a hangout spot". He did not raise any other customers blinds. I thought that was very disrespectful of him. I asked him to lower the blind back and you could clearly tell by the look on his face he was not happy with that request. What he did not know was that we were discussing the possibility of having an event there since they have a nice party room. After those comments and the poor quality of the food we chose not to patronize the establishment again nor recommend them to anyone. James H. read more

Came in with a group of 12 guys on a work trip. Breakfast. Place was mostly empty because 'rona. The decor is really nice. They did a great job on that front. You would think the server would be happy to get so many people on a slow shift. She asked if we were doing separate checks and immediately gave us an attitude about it. Her: "separate checks?" Us: "yes, is that okay?" Her: "I mean, it's going to have to be I guess..." I get it - we're annoying. But it's 2022 and you have a computer system to help you. We all tip well because we know it sucks. Most servers just assume that we're on separate checks when they see a dozen or more dudes walk in together and never even blink when we confirm that we're billing separately. She was super efficient and took all of our orders lickety split. I was really impressed with that part. Food came out pretty quick. I wasn't impressed with the greek omelette - feta kinda tasted like I imagine dog food tastes. Coffee was diner coffee, which is fine. The other guys seemed to like their food alright. The French toast was thicc. Sausages looked authentic. When she was handing us our food, she made a point to ask if we had a reservation or if we just showed up. We didn't have a reservation, we replied. She responded that it's a good thing it was slow, because normally they wouldn't have room for us. Okay. Similar to other reviews I read on here, she threw napkins at us and dropped plates at us. She really didn't have any time for us - in a mostly empty restaurant. We weren't at all rude to her. I don't get the sense that she would have been any warmer or gentler if we were all on one check though. She was kind of a robot with some concerning attitude bugs. She checked us out up front after we were done - she said she was mostly on her own, which does suck. I complimented the dessert case, which is absolutely gorgeous. Asked her if they were all made at the restaurant, to which she dryly replied "yes." End of that conversation. Cool. I told her she did a great job handling the separate checks and that she was really efficient, to which she replied "yeah, we'll I'm going to tell my boss that I'm not doing it anymore - it's not worth it." I signed my credit card slip, didn't respond, and walked away. read more

Came here for breakfast and was greeted by the most rude person i have ever encountered. I sat at the counter for dinner. I ordered a glass of sauvignon blanc to start. It came quick and was refreshingly cold! The menu is huge with just about everything you can think of available. I opted for the roast tom turkey dinner. It was served with dressing, cranberry, potato and vegetable. Included was a house salad or soup. I went with the salad and house dressing. Everything tasted great! All portions were huge! I couldn't eat it all so I wound up taking some home. They have a wonderful looking dessert case but I just couldn't eat another thing. Next time I'm going to save room for a black & white cookie or an éclair or a Napoleon or rice pudding or...! Too many choices! read more

All I can say is our food was nasty......potatoes not done all the way....never had scrapple like that (like it was coated with something)......I initially asked scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and just put a big ass slice of cheese on the top----that's not the proper way to fix them and then I got my eggs recooked with no cheese and they were watery.....never again I threw it all away, wasted my money!!! They deserved no stars from me. read more

First let me start by saying our waitress Marie was great she tried to help us as much as she could now past that the crab soup was good the tossed garden salad was fresh and good I ordered liver and onions naturally I thought it came with gravy instead it's cooked on flat top so ate the onions and then onions are laid on top of one piece of liver so when I said I didn't want this because this wasn't what I expected the owner operator and manager of the restaurant Comes over to my table after the waitress tells him we wanted to see him or we had a problem not sure how she told him but his approach to us alluded to that because what he said was you wanted to speak with me I was like sure I just wanted to give you this back because this wasn't what I expected I said I expected it cooked and gravy tried to say it as nice as possible without being rude and I was very calm and very easy-going in my demeanor i wasn't even mad I even said charge me for the sides. his response to me was that's not what the menu says and proceeded to say we can't just go around throwing food away because you decided that you don't want to eat it. I was stuck right there everything else he said beyond that was just the cherry on top for piss poor customer service. I again wasn't yelling wasn't raising my voice wasn't room my coworker or who I was out to eat with or lunch ordered what they call a shell steak asked for it to be cooked medium it had one pink spot in the entire steak literally a small slither of a pink spot when cutting too it was very well done and tough but at this point I'll eat it. he said oh okay yeah. Turns and proceeds to walk away from us. so my coworker says thanks and we wont be back so he turns with an attitude and comes back to our table screaming talking to us. Y'all I'm still stuck cause he was trying to make me pay for a meal I was about to get up and leave the amount of money for a tip and for what I felt was the cost of the sides would have been and walk out. i don't know if he recognized it in my face cause I'm not about to go back an forth with anyone for any reason. So as he yells my coworker raises her voice to him and says well since you want to yell and we were being polite ill talk to you the same way and he then says we'll I'll just take this off. if he would have been polite and said I'm sorry this wasn't what you expected or our sorry we over cooked your steak or anything that expressed any ounce of respect I would have even been ok with an offer to replace my food with something else on the menu but I'll be wiser next time and never ever step foot in this establishment again. Thank you and have a great day!!! read more

I wouldn't have picked this place out, but my husband and his friend picked it out. Nice place, first time visiting. Had a large group of 8, was able to call in the morning and make a reservation. Loved that. Also loved that you're not sitting on top of other diners, very large space. Very nice and diverse menu- something for everyone. My party did the crab cake Benedict, salmon Benedict, pancakes, Mexican omelet and chicken and waffles. No one complained, only thing left on the plates were the home fries but we didn't come for those. I would come eat here again if in the area. read more

Never had a bad experience here. The burgers are amazing and have always been served relatively quickly. Looking forward to being back

If you take a poll of my friends and ask them what my biggest gripe about living in the DC area is, they would very likely say "I don't know, I typically tune him out after 5 minutes". Now, after you ask them a second time and threaten them by saying that they'll be featured in my next yelp review, most will say "There's hardly anything open late, especially places with desserts". That brings us to Nautilus. Unique name for a very brightly lit and architecturally interesting building that definitely stands out. A fairly large diner located off of route 3 in Crofton, this establishment is open 24 hours on the weekends and till midnight during the week. Considering my options....that works for me!! Bonus, they have a pastry chef who make their desserts in house!! Upon entering, you see a bright display case full of delicious looking treats just calling you!! In true diner fashion, Nautilus has a very diverse menu that can be a bit overwhelming. I actually like having a whole bunch of options because I may be in a sandwich mood one day and then in a pasta mood the next. This place does an adequate job in terms of their food. Their gyros are decent, fries are pretty good. Salads are acceptable and sandwiches can hit the spot. Considering the prices and the portion sizes, it's not a bad value. What really makes this place stand out for me is the desserts. I have had so many of them and they've all been really good to AWESOME! German chocolate, coconut cake, brownies, red velvet and the amazing baklava cheesecake. Yes, you read that right....baklava cheesecake. In the words of America's youth.....OMG!!!!!! The baklava cheesecake has to be violating some type of law, it's that good!!!!! So good that Al Gore said he invented it. So good that President Obama endorsed it as a reason why Obamacare is important! So good that Mitt Romney endorsed it, then distanced himself from the endorsement, then claimed he was "misquoted"!! So good that Rush Limbaugh tried to smoke it!! So good that former President Clinton picked it over some hot interns!! So good that former President George W. Bush actually pronounced it correctly!!!! Ok ok, we all know that's not true, BUT STILL!!! I will say that while most of the other desserts are pretty balanced, the baklava cheesecake is very very rich. For those that don't have much of a sweet tooth, BEWARE. The cheesecake is actually more on the savory side but the baklava is a sugar lover's version of crack. Additionally, it can be a challenge to eat as the baklava is layered on top, which can cause the slice to topple over. Nevertheless, Nautilus is still a diner but for desserts, it definitely puts many high end places to shame!! read more

The slim, dark haired, mustached (I think) employee (or manager/owner) who works at this restaurant needs a serious attitude adjustment. My mother and I came in for breakfast and requested a table. He had our menus in one hand and a coffee pot in the other. We went into the packed dining room to the left and the only open tables they had hadn't been bused. He jerked his head to the tiny booths to the right of us and said "The tables are dirty. Here's a booth, you wanna booth? There's a booth." I said "No, I'm sorry, we can wait for table, that's fine." We honestly didn't mind waiting for a table to be bused. They get slammed with customers during the breakfast rush - it happens, we understand. He storms past my mother and I exclaiming, "You'll just have to wait! Fine! Wait if you want. Just wait." At this point, everyone in the dining room was staring at us because he was so loud. My mom and I walk out of the room and stand off to the side where the register is. The woman at the register says, "What's wrong?" The man says, "All the tables are dirty!!" The woman says, "Even the ones on the end?" The man says, "That's a booth! They don't want a booth, they want a table!" in the most condescending tone he could use. At that moment, we walked right out. I don't need or appreciate the attitude. All of that drama because we wanted a table? No, sir. I sincerely hope that man was not a manager or owner. Yelling at customers AND your staff? That's a no-no. We will not patronize this restaurant again. Considering the way my mom and I were treated today, I can safely say the manager (or whoever that screaming man was) couldn't care less whether we come back or not. If you want to be talked down to and screamed at in front of the entire restaurant, this is the place for you! read more

The Nautilus Diner is truly a needle in a haystack and diamond in the ruff. Went here for the first time today and I was very impressed. Unlike most diners this spot is bigger then most usual diner in the area and the food porportion is humungous!!!! Yes I was not expecting to get all the food I did for the little price that we paid. When we first arrived, we sat down and my wife and I was stuck because the menu alone is just as big as the diner....there is about 5 pages front and back full of food items from breakfast to lunch to dinner to appietizer to desserts....that you can order all day, everyday. Ok so after about 15min of going thur this dictionary of a menu....we finally decided on what we were going to eat for the afternoon. My wife got the:- CrabCake Platter and a Cesar Salad: That was one of the biggest crabcakes I have ever seen at a diner. NO FILLER, NO IMITATIONS...ALL LUMP CRAB MEAT!!!! Very tasty and juicy!! I got the: - Chicken Stuffed w/ Crabmeat and Metza Ball Soup: Ok so I have had this before at other resturants but this right here...I had on my plate the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!!!! A tender, juicy, well seasoned chicken beast rolled with a ton a Lumped Crab Meat in the center...Im talking crabmeat was pouring out of both ends of the chicken breast!!!! I was in Chicken and Crab Heaven!!!! (SEE PICTURES) Of course...we did not finish our meal, it felt like they gave us the entire kitchen and sink with out meal...but we dare to order dessert!!!!! They have a massive selection of desserts from cookies, to cakes, to pasteries!!!! And again we dare not leave without ordering something to go. So we order a slice of Strawberry Cheesecake and a Klondike Bar (Cheesecake dipped in a Chocolate Ganche to form a shell) OMG to the 2nd power...LOL that piece of chocolate Sin almost took me out of here...it was the best!!!! (SEE PICTURES) I will be coming back to this spot...but if you reading this and you have a taste for some good food be sure you make your way to bowie and drop by the Nautilus Diner!!!! You will not be disappointed. read more

IHOP? The Nautilus? IHOP? The Nautilus? THE NAUTILUS!!!! I know. You're looking for a place in Bowie/Crofton. Good luck poor souls, good luck. The Nautilus has a couple places in Maryland so it's a local chain restaurant and it has a large menu so it's nice for any family or group of friends. Everyone can find something they like on here. Chicken Wings and coke for brunch? Sure! French toast and bacon? Now that's more like a breakfast food. French toast was super light- would have liked to see a sweet bread with a little more egg/cinnamon/cream batter for density. Don't ask for crispy bacon unless you like it hard and totally crunchy. Their turkey omelet was pretty generous on the sliced pieces of turkey deli meat and tons of cheese. It was okay, nothing to rant or rave about. I'd like to see some type of avocado option for an omelet (hint hint!) The server was friendly and had a good sense of humor. He listed of a huge list of different toast and muffin/corn bread options. I didn't think he would stop. Pretty impressive. I can't tell you how many times a week I drive by this place. I think I went there once what seems like a lifetime ago. This morning, the spousal unit and I decided to venture outside our regular breakfast and see what uncharted journey we'd get at the Nautilus (this is my one stab at nautical-themed humor.) It's late morning on a Tuesday and there's lots of parking in the ample parking lot. We enter, and I'm impressed with the bar offerings (I will remember this on a late evening visit). We are immediately seated. I am surprised at the nice roomy booth and spacious dining area. Our waitress introduced herself and promptly offfered us our choice of beverage while we perused the menus. They've got a LOT of food. I, however, had one thing on my mind and that was a blt. Actually, I wanted a BLO, cause I dont eat tomato. The waitress suggested the BLT club with fries. Good choice. My husband had the open faced london broil sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Also a good choice. Service was a little slow considering it wasn't that busy BUT we did order basically a steak and a wheelbarrow full of bacon. These things don't happen in nanoseconds. Our food came hot. I was also served a side of coleslaw, with a pickle. I tasted both but offered them to the Mr. I was surprised by the slaw - it wasn't just shredded cabbage slathered in mayo - it had some FLAVOR! Service was good - our waitress kept on top of the drinks and knew just the right moment to offer a box. Great bang for the buck, good service AND close to home? Win. We'll be back. read more

Went to Nautilus Diner this morning for breakfast, and watched as the manager proceeded to yell at a worker while she was cleaning a table . Was loud and rude. Won't be going back there. I've always heard the manager, was very difficult to work for, but the manner in which he ridiculed , insulted and embarrassed that porter was uncalled for. She's a very nice lady, doesn't speak English, and primarily cleans the tables and brings out water. There was a party of more than 20 that had just left, and she & 1 other porter were just finishing up. I thought they'd done a good job cleaning up after all those people, and only taking about 5 minutes. She's a regular employee who's been there for a few years. When she tried to talk to him, he grabbed everything she was carrying, tossed it onto a table, and continued to yell at her. I don't know whether he was yelling in Spanish or in Greek, but none of that was necessary, and none of it was professional. I doubt she'll do anything about it, but the manner in which he grabbed the stuff she was carrying meets the definition of assault. He has no right to treat his employees like that! read more
