Absolutely loved the food!! The woman taking my order was helpful. I will definitely be back

Tasty, tasty, tasty!! The Jamaican spot, short of being opened for just a year, is what the area needed. Every dish is well-seasoned and one of the most authentic in the MD area. From the brown stew chicken, the curry chicken, the oxtails, allllll delicious and savory! The Mac and cheese has to be theeee best! Chef Ramoun is the most humble, kindest yet talented chefs around. He gave up a complimentary dessert which was amazing....sort of like a warm sweet cake topped with a drizzle of caramel sauce! A perfect location in Bowie, the bite sized restaurant is cute and quaint. There's room at the bar or a few tables for dinning in. The entire staff are inviting and their prices are absolutely reasonable!

Ambiance: it's not a fancy restaurant, very homey inside with the booth and chair seating. The average table holds 4 people. Service: service is a bit on the slow side but we went for Sunday lunch so no need for a big rush I guess but if you have somewhere to go after then take that into consideration. Food: I got the plantain cups with the shrimp and those were delicious. I could have done two plates of that haha. I also got the salt fish fritters and those were ok. I think they were a lot denser than I expected and I make them differently so I was expecting a slightly different taste but not bad at all. I do wish that they had the bread pudding dessert that was on the menu because I wanted to try that but they didn't have it. All in all a good experience food wise and I also ordered a meal separately to go but I haven't tried it yet to let you know how it is .

This used to be Island Fin Poke. RIP!!! But I love what they did with the space. I have been eyeing it ever since it opened and I finally made it out! The new benches are nice, the reggae is blasting, and the far wall is a beautiful photo op! There's a sign right as you walk in that lists all of the entrees and sides. There's also a menu right at the register. I decided to go for something a little different... sweet chili chicken with rice & peas and cabbage. There was a whole cake also staring at me, and I found out it was carrot... I got a slice of that too. As I ordered, I noticed the big fridge of drinks, and shelves with beer and wine on them. Didn't get an idea of how much the beer and wine were, but I thought that was cool! I peeped a few Linganore bottles. I was also asked whether I wanted my food for there or to go -- love that option that encourages you to dine in! My order arrived in about 10-15 minutes, and I was on my way. I LOVED the chicken. I LOVED the cabbage. Now, i didn't love the rice & peas. I didn't find it being as flavorful and enjoyable as the other parts of my dish. All that to say -- I want to come back and try some patties and their jerk. I will be back!

Food is pretty good. Happy to have another Jamaican location close to home. This is the most authentic jerk in this local vicinity. Patties weren't bad, filling was delicious. Filling was sufficient for me, but they aren't stuffed full to exploding like others may prefer. It was Lent-haven't tried the beef ones yet. Overall, I am sold and will be a constant customer. I have only gotten food to go. The first time I happened to notice it was open and ran in to grab, lunch specials. The wait was not what I anticipated. Hence, this order was placed online and I was able to walk in and walk out. I would like to sit and dine one day as the restaurant is set up nicely. The lady at the front desk (I MUST get her name-as this will be one of my regular spots) is nice and friendly! Give it a try and let us know what you think.

I still enjoy the food here, particularly the oxtails, festival, and my daughter likes the jerk chicken. I ordered the curry chickpeas and potatoes for the first time tonight, and the black cake. The chickpeas & potatoes with the roti was simply amazing. Once again I'm a happy camper with my food tonight and my family was happy as well.

OMG! Well done for your first night. Somebody put their foot in this Jamaican food. Not too spicy! I also had a a jerk patty which was so good (Spicy) too. Welcome to the neighborhood. I am sure you will be well received. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars because it took a long time to prepare the food. Otherwise the food was scrumptious.

As much as I go up and down 450 you would have thought I would have found this amazing restaurant sooner! Simply the best Jamaican food in the area. The Curry chicken was amazing, tender and deeply flavorful, right amount of curry and spice..but what really stood out for me was the rice and peas, best I've had outside of the Caribbean. If you haven't been you need to go,today!

The inside is extremely dark, and the old carpet makes the space feel dated. A few upgrades and design tweaks would make a huge difference. The menu is overloaded with too many options. Sometimes less is more, especially for a Caribbean restaurant trying to maintain quality and speed. Service was another issue. The wait for food was way too long, and while most restaurants cook to order, customers still expect communication and efficiency. A strong General Manager could really help tighten up operations and improve the overall experience. The food itself was decent once it arrived. One thing that didn't make sense was offering different spice levels for Caribbean food. Just serve the dishes as intended and offer pepper sauce on the side for customers who want extra heat. Overall, the restaurant has potential because of the location and decent food, but the atmosphere, service, and management side need serious improvement. I will leave a 5 but will be back ownership (address your customers sentiment), previous reviews.

Their jerk chicken, oxtails, curry and oxtail pasta are ON POINT! I've been a weekly regular at this restaurant for about 3 months now and to date, I haven't had a disappointing meal. The customer service is good and trust I always have questions and they keep the interior clean. There is a small tv on one half of the restaurant that displayed lyrics while performers and the karaoke set up stood close to the entrance. The space felt a little small for a large karaoke and speaker set up but we made it work. The energy amongst the crowd (4-5 tables worth of people) was fun, and that's what matters most. After the karaoke, the hostess played about 30 mins of Caribbean jams which was fun too. During the event we had plenty to eat and drink. I had 3 rum punches (2 of which were during the happy hour window for $7) - they were not made to order, but rather came from a batch container. They were still pretty good and pretty strong but I would've preferred a freshly made drink. My girlfriend got a margarita to start (which wasn't that good) then switched to the rum punches. The bar was also low on glassware - so we often got drinks repoured into glasses we had just finished. Don't think the bar was prepared for a larger group that night. The food was solid, but not great. I had the regular fried wings and the jerk wings, for $9 during happy hour. Both wings were good, and I appreciate that the jerk wasn't too spicy. Strangely, I received 7 fried wings in one order and 5 jerk wings in the other order. My friend, who also ordered jerk wings, only got 4 wings in his order. Some consistency in order size would be better. On our way out, we ordered a couple patties (beef and curry chicken) and a curry chicken dinner with rice n peas and plantains. Theses choices were great! Wish I had ordered one more patty. The staff's friendliness and liveliness was the best part. The bartender was very friendly and did her best to manage the whole restaurant's drinks solo. The karaoke hostess had great energy. Even the kitchen staff and folks managing food orders were kind and pleasant. I could tell many of the guests were regulars; everyone seems very comfortable interacting with staff. If I'm in the area again, I'd totally be okay with stopping by for another rum punch and beef patty.

If Chipotle had a soulful, culturally rich cousin... it would be Spice Black. Period…read more I've been seeing this place all over social media, so when I found myself in the area, I had to see what the hype was about. First off, parking is easy. It's in a shopping center, so nothing stressful there, and the restaurant itself is easy to spot. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean, polished, and classy everything looked. Even though it was busy, it didn't feel chaotic. The staff immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first time which I appreciated. They didn't just rush me through the line; they actually took time to explain the menu, how the bowls are built, and offered samples. That alone made the experience feel welcoming and intentional. Now let's get into the FOOD. Everything looked fresh. They have about four rice options (which is already a win), and I went with the pineapple coconut rice. For my protein, I chose grilled chicken, but they also offer shrimp, salmon, and even a mushroom option for vegetarians and honestly, the mushrooms looked so good I almost switched. For my added sides, I kept it simple because I really wanted to taste everything. Collard greens and sweet potatoes. But they also had plantains, and okra....real deal soul food options. Then you get into the fresh toppings. Slaws, carrots, pickled veggies. I kept it light. I finished my bowl with collard green pesto (which intrigued me, and I'm glad I tried it) and added an étouffée sauce over my rice... and listen!!!!! That combo? Chef's kiss. I grabbed a tropical punch juice, and just like everything else, it tasted fresh and well-made. Let me say this clearly: the food is a 10/10. If you're someone who will give Chipotle chance after chance, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to try Spice Black. 10/10. Worth your money. Worth the hype. Worth the experience.

This is still a good healthier option oppose to the many of terrible choices we have to choose from, this beats most unhealthy fast foods restaurants. For that reason I would return to try other food options. If you like chickpeas then this is your meal, Im not so it threw off the salad to me. I would have preferred chicken. Honestly, everything came together nicely as one salad, nothing was over powering. I'm just not a fan of chickpeas. They do have an option for shrimp but dont eat bottom feeders so that wasn't an option for me. My tastebuds are much different from yours so I would still give it a try. At heart, I'm a man that truly enjoy most Caribbean dishes ( oxtails, goat, curry/jerk chicken,…read moreroti, etc ) So, I set out on a quest to give a new Caribbean cuisine restaurant a shot at winning me over. That's when I bumped into Caribbean Dish... The name got me, yes it's basic, but the title was exactly what I was looking for. The restaurant is in a small unassuming parking lot... if you don't know it's there, you probably will miss it ( so glad I didn't !! ) The minute I walked in, I felt authentic family vibes ( something I look for when choosing my Caribbean locations ) The service was very friendly, and they cleared everything up when I wasn't sure if my particular craving could be fulfilled ( the combo I desired wasn't on their daily menu ) My sights were set on the oxtail and curry goat combo ( of course with rice & peas and veggies ! ) And when I say the goat was tender, and seasoned to perfection... while the oxtails had that juicy meatiness that will for sure keep me coming back. The rice & peas were cooked just right ( texture was on point ) and the veggies still had that freshness that brought everything else together. I love my Caribbean dishes saucy and not dry ( they get two thumbs up in that department ! ) Family vibes, cheerful greeting, and amazing food.... Caribbean Dish you just locked yourself in a loyal customer !!!!! Give them a shot and I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed !!!

I made a takeout order and took advantage of the 20% off "local" coupon and got the coco bread $2.25, curry platter (small) $11.50, white meat jerk chicken sandwich (small) $10.75, and the daily lunch special (comes w/ beef patty & drink) $14. - The service I experienced was quite good. Although I received my food 7 min late, the staff member assisting me was kind and personable. - All the food was solid to good, with my favorite being the white jerk chicken sandwich. - The portions received from the platters and sandwiches definitely surpassed my expectations, as you certainly get good value for your dollar. - My only real knock would be the cabbage being underwhelming as it was lacking flavor, and it was undercooked, but that was the only negative. - Also, the beef patty was just alright as it was too doughy and not as much meat filling, but it was saved by pairing it with the coco bread. Ultimately, I'm going to give a 5/5 as I was pleasantly impressed with my entire experience. The service and the coupon were the cherry on top. -- #issa.cheatday

Friendly & casual vibe with a counter set-up where you enter, grab a menu or look at well-lit…read morescreens above the action. You walk along counter admiring the selections of sides, deserts. You order at the end, and find a seat. Your name is called and you pick up at the side counter. The dining area has plenty of seating, a private room looks available to reserve? Dining area & restrooms are bright, clean and inviting. My brother ordered fried fish with a chicken wing,, cabbage and sweet potatoes. He loved the fish & chicken- well seasoned without feeling your blood pressure rise as you indulged- LOL. The sides were good. I did the smothered porkchops - WOW, best that I have had - really enjoyed the main entrée and my sides (greens, black-eye peas). Both meals came with cornbread (another option was a biscuit). I have to say the food, the Staff and the establishment has been my best taste of southern cooking in the DMV area. I ordered chicken wings (6) to go for wife & I to enjoy later. Definitely worth a visit, we will be back - The smothered chops are calling me already. Lunch for two with a take home order of wings & 2 deserts plus tip was around $100.

The fish (catfish and croaker) always tastes like it's been fried in grease that needs changing. There's no flavor profile in the food which is weird for a soul-food restaurant. The mixed veggies were absolutely disgusting-- gave them back. I paid $65 for fried catfish with two sides, fried croaker with two sides, a cookie and two drinks---and sadly, the only thing that was sort of worth it was the cornbread, but it tastes like it has coconut in it. I hate coconut. The item that was the most flavorful for me was the black eyed peas/hoppin John (minus the big pieces of fatty meat in them).

A stand located in the lot of Chesapeake Seafood, MadFlava serves up jerk chicken, jerk pork chops,…read moreribs, and various house made slaws. You can usually find them grilling up on Saturdays! We ordered the 1/4 jerk (dark) chicken (juicy and the skin came off easily), jerk pork chop (slightly tough and better with the jerk sauce), 1/2 a slab of ribs (tender and smoky), a side of the jalapeño cole slaw (it was crunchy and refreshing, and I liked the sliced jalapenos), and the Jamaican rice and peas (this was comforting). There were also some samplings of jerk fish that was being passed out, and I just wished we got this instead! The fish was super flaky and yummy! The jerk seasoning is all homemade, and it's definitely flavorful, with a great spicy kick! Apparently, their seasonings/marinades are also sold, so if you want to kick up your meats and such, they're available! The husband-and-wife team are super friendly and welcoming. They are currently located in the Chesapeake Seafood parking lot on Fridays and Saturdays. +jerk fish! +Jamaican rice and peas +housemade/homemade jerk seasoning blend +friendly owners +located in the Chesapeake Seafood parking lot on Fri & Sat
