Ive actually been going here since I was in my late teens early 20s...i loved the previous chef ...unfortunately the service and quality has declined and I only get a good plate when my Nigerian family goes for me... Egusi is good....pommo...is usually good, but has be very hard ...check before or cook more when you get home... It seems the saying 'you get what you pay for' still rings true, especially these days. My wife purchased some meat pies, and while the price was reasonable for the quantity, the quality left much to be desired. The filling tasted burnt and lacked flavor, with the meat-to-veggie ratio being way off. To make matters worse, it took over an hour for her to receive the order. I'd recommend charging a bit more if it means improving the taste, quality, and portion of meat in the pies. read more

I've had this place a couple times due to them catering events I go to. I've only tried the jollof and decided to give their pounded yam and egusi a try. I absolutely loved it! The egusi was very flavorful and spicy. The pounded yam was soft with no lumps at all. The beef was a bit too tough but the goat meat was soft and easy on the teeth. I've been an old patron since their early days in Riverdale, quality was great and food tasted great too, and quantity was satisfying. Today I decided to order my usual but this time just wanted the soups, called and placed my order for ogbono and vegetable soup, $15/soup for pickup which I was told 10-15min, was so excited and looking forward to digging in, got home and was greatly disappointed, quality was bad and tasted crappy, and for $15 got only one meat which was 90% bone, lost my appetite immediately, called them back to vent. The service was okay they were attentive as soon as I walked in. The food was good, Rice, two drumsticks, and around 5 pieces of fried sweet plantains. No complaints there but the price was the shocking part to me. All of that came out to $20.51! This was a to go order so there was no extra tip or service fee included. Queensway is what Bowie has been missing in terms of diverse food offerings. We have so many chain restaurants, but where are the mom and pop spots! I have been mourning the loss of Cetrone's Pizza on Old Annapolis Road for some time, but was intrigued when I realized Queensway was opening over there. This place is carryout style and they offer Caribbean and West African dishes. I usually get oxtail or curry goat, but I substitute the white rice with jollof rice and add a meat pie. They have so many offerings like fufu, fish pepper soup, tripe, and more! The food is made fresh so I make sure to call in my order 15-20 minutes before I'm ready to pick it up. read more

Most of the Food is actually good but the wait time is ridiculous and there is one young girl with crunchy cornrows that gives the worst customer service. She puts liquid in cardboard carry out boxes which I've said something to her about it twice and she tries to up charge everything. Her prices are always different from others. Today i almost slapped this little girl back into the village for playing with me but luckily the guy came out and gave me my money back. So hard to support our own ppl but I won't be back ever! Stumbled on to this place while looking for another. Was excite to see the variety of offerings on the menu. Ordered the jollof rice with chicken and plantains. Chicken was covered with a red tomato sauce apparently to disguise the fact that it was dry and overcooked. It looked like it was reheated from the day before. The rice was not the typical style I'm used to, I'm Liberian. It was spicy with some sort of tomato sauce as well covering the lack of flavor. It's safe to say, I will not be making a return visit and I would suggest the same for anyone considering this place. Don't waste your money. read more

This is probably the best Caribbean/African restaurant in the Bowie area. The food reminds me of home with every bite. Love this place.

Yelp and Google show that this restaurant closes at 9pm. I drive an hour to get to the restaurant. I arrived at 7:57pm and wanted to place an order. A customer was just leaving the building. As soon as I opened the door, the lady at the front gave me a look like "oh God another customer." I asked if the restaurant was still open and she said just for 3 minutes. I asked for some rice and she said it would take time because she needed to leave in 3 minutes and she was sighing, huffing and puffing about her need to leave. I told her to forget it and made sure to tell her this was poor customer service. read more

Let me start of by saying that I have been going to this restaurant for years since I was pregnant with my daughter 17 years ago. The one in riverdale. Since I have been coming to the one in bowie, if the owner is not there the food is horrible and the portions are much smaller. I kept going because I love to support, but the last timewas it. The owner went back home to africa, and the people who run it while she is gone, Nooooo. The egusi soup was watery and had no flavor, I know flavor. I thought this would be a good spot because the guy was nice enough to give me directions to the restaurant to try it. We ordered food and it took a little while for it to come out when it did we looked at the boxes and I received the wrong meal. I heard the guy go in the back tell the cook I got the wrong meal once they discussed it he came back with the right meal I should have tasted it right then but instead I waited until I got home to find out that the meat he put on my rice was unedible. I should have known something was wrong when I heard the microwave. I would have appreciated it more if he would have just came out said we don't have what you ordered and for me to pick something else but instead he gave me something very old and hard. after discussing this with my wife we say that we're going to give them one more try to redeem themselves if this doesn't go well they'll never see me again. read more

I tried this spot earlier this summer, ordering a couple of beef patties. They were good, so I returned s couple weeks later and got more. They tasted okay but were odd because they were too bread-y in spots. Tonight I tried to give it another chance get a couple more. I slipped into the restaurant just before 8 pm, the closing time. A customer was in front of me, and the girl at the register started huffing and puffing. After I stood there a couple minutes l, she told me the restaurant was closed. I told her that she saw me walking in. She disappeared, continuing to prep the other customer's meal, letting me stand there a few more minutes. Then she said she had put "closed" sign on the door before I walked in. I responded that she saw me walk in and let me stand there. I asked her if she intended to serve me and if she had any beef patties. She hesitated then said no. It was clear she wanted to get out of there and wasn't interested in serving me. No big deal. But to have me standing there for a while and then trying to get rid of me was unprofessional. read more
