I was disappointed with my meal. The mac and cheese had an excessive amount of oil, which made it greasy and unpleasant to eat. The catfish also had a noticeable sour taste that seemed off and affected the overall flavor. Unfortunately, both issues took away from what could have been an enjoyable dining experience. I hope the restaurant reviews its food preparation and quality control to improve consistency.

    Blacked Chicken Pasta

Tried Miss Toya's Creole House for the second time and overall, it's not bad, it just doesn't quite move me. I'm not overly hyped about Cajun/Creole inspired dishes to begin with, and many of the plates lean heavy on cream based sauces that feel a bit overpowering after a few bites. I ordered the blackened chicken pasta, which wasn't bad at all, but again very rich and cream forward. My partner enjoyed the gumbo and said it was pretty good, just on the heavier side (which is expected with Southern dishes ). That said, the service was awesome and the restaurant was very clean, which I always appreciate. I enjoyed my time, but as someone from the South, I'm not easily influenced by Southern restaurants. It's a place I could visit every blue moon, just not somewhere I'd rush back to anytime soon.

Had a very mixed experience here. As a first time guest here are the pros & cons Pros: -Food is bomb! Everything I had was good. The southern dishes are where they really shine -Our waiter was very gracious and had to balance 4-5 tables so I give grace since it was out of his control. He was really sweet -Parking is pretty easy, free and straightforward since it's in a shopping plaza. Plenty of spaces nearby -The idea of bottomless brunch is enticing. Great idea! -live music was great but can make it hard to hear/have conversations -Management did a great job of rectifying my friend's food issue Cons: -One of my friends had a worm in their oyster and the crab legs weren't seasoned at all (wouldn't recommend the crab legs at all) -Wait times are LONG. Prepare to wait 30 mins to an hour on Sunday for your food. Reservations are also hard to snag. -20% automatic gratuity no matter the party size -Have very small to go containers so it's basically all you can eat in that 2 hours and you can only take the last plate home -Overall I don't think I would go back to that location. They also have a closer location to me in Baltimore I would maybe try. (I did end up getting sick later but I'm not sure if it was their fault). The food was absolutely delicious. For $55 it's a bit steep but it is bottomless. I got the peach cobbler French toast which was a bit dry but good, scrambled eggs, catfish & grits, and the fried deviled eggs. The catfish and grits were the standout as well as the bread pudding. I wouldn't recommend them completely, only visit after you take everything into account.

I can't say enough about this place. The food is delicious. This is the second time I've visited and the great service has been consistent. I love, love , love the hot honey salmon bites. Golden fried then sprinkled with a hot honey sauce. A must try for an appetizer. I've also tried the sweet potatoes. So good ! I decided to order the fried catfish dinner. I ordered it with a side of garlic, mashed potatoes and broccolini. The mashed potatoes complemented the fish so well. WOW! Everything was perfect. I look forward to dining here again.

The wait was pretty long but it was worth it. The food was amazing! I've never had fried deviled eggs and boy oh boy were they good. All of the food was tasty and the drinks were great! This is a perfect brunch spot. Make reservations though to avoid the wait.

The crab legs were OK. You receive one cluster at a time.

If you are on the fence about giving Miss Toya's a visit, I say go for it. Today, I visited the Laurel location for brunch with a couple of my GFs. We did make reservations. Upon arrival, I was informed that I needed to wait for the entire party to arrive. I did not mind this given that the two-hour brunch window starts once you are seated. Our waitress, was pleasant enough. Although she did not smile a lot, she did what we asked her to do... nothing more/nothing less! After talking to her, we later found out that she was a little bit overwhelmed. That is understandable. We all have bad days. Now, the food was pretty good. We sampled a number of the Starters as well as a few of the Entrées. The number one selection that we all agreed on was the fried deviled eggs. They were amazing. Next on our "favorites" list was the wings. We went with the honey, lemon pepper flavor. They were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. The starter shrimp dish was also absolutely amazing. As for our main course, we sampled the catfish and grits, the pork chops and grits, the steak and eggs, the crab legs, and the waffles with honey chicken. Everything that we tried was pretty good. The only item that was not a favorite was the shrimp and grits. This location of Miss Toya's has an open concept. I would not recommend this location if you want to engage in conversation where you really need to focus and be able to hear. This location is pretty noisy. However, it is great for a girls or guys brunch, or an adult family get together after church. By the time we left, just about all of the tables were full. I would strongly advise making reservations. By the way, they offer bottomless drinks with brunch for an additional $25. I would venture to say, the drinks are made well. From what I observed, everyone who was enjoying the libations, was having a really good time! LOL! Happy Brunching!

I hate doing this BUT this is our platform to make businesses do better. I've dined at the Silver Spring location a few times and the DC location once and both were strong 4 star performers. After seeing the reels for their unlimited brunch, a brotha had to drive from damn near Waldorf to Laurel to check this location out. Only reservation seating for the tables, I was lucky that ONE seat was open at the small ten person bar. I ordered the $55 unlimited brunch and the bottomless Mimosas for an additional $25. Jordan was great. She explained the unlimited food experience, which was unique to say the least. I wondered, does the owner want folks to come back or just want a one and done?!? From the menu, you can only order one item at a time and can't place another order until you've finished the majority of your food. So, if you ordered deviled eggs (3), you'd have to finish those to order wings... Whewwww! So I went through that iteration 6 to seven times. Oysters Rockefeller, crab legs (waste of time.. One small cluster that was mushy), charbroiled oysters, fried deviled eggs and topped it off with my entrée.. Steak and eggs. Honestly, I could have done the oysters and the fried crab topped deviled eggs and called it a day. I ordered my steak medium and it came out well done with NO flavor. I already told you about those sorry azz crab legs. The couple beside me didn't heed my warning before they ordered the crab legs.. they only ate half of theirs.. Told ya! Jordan did make sure my glass stayed full.. That was a plus! Once the bill came, a 20% "service fee" was automatically added. However, the tip line was there with the suggested tips like it wasn't already taken out, making it a bit awkward WTH?!? SO, y'all wanted a total of 40% gratuity?..GTFOH! ... I won't spell that out. Peace!

Fried pork chops, candied yams and Mac and cheese

The service was excellent, our waitress was very helpful and on time considering our large party of 14. Food was good although some of our people complained of there fish and oxtails being a little salty. I had the pork chops, Mac and yams. Chops were perfectly cooked (crispy and juicy) yams just the right amount of sweetness and the Mac was perfectly blended together with several cheeses. I would say overall I would come back for sure. But be prepared to wait but I don't mind waiting for good food.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I went with my friends to celebrate my birthday. The service was a little slow, especially with the drinks coming out after the apps, and a couple of dirty glasses were brought to the table, which wasn't ideal. But the food came out hot and full of flavor. The charbroiled oysters were good. Not quite New Orleans level, with a little too much of the wrong cheese, but still enjoyable. The fried deviled eggs with crab were really good, and the fried catfish with mac and greens was the perfect pairing. I'm so glad I went with that combo. The cornbread had good flavor but could have been a little more moist. Overall, I'm glad I gave Miss Toya's a try. The food was definitely worth it. This location is smaller than the one in Silver Spring, but it still has a cozy vibe. I would go back.

Went on a Friday during lunch time. Had the gumbo with cornbread 10/10. Gumbo was nicely done. Cornbread was swimming in a bowl of butter literally tasted like pound cake was amazing. Not too sweet just perfect. Got the peach lemonade I believe and that was so good. No complaints at all were seated immediately. Server was nice. Buffalo wings were sauced up and still crunchy. Music was great honestly just a good vibe.

Laurel residents: are you wondering why this place that was going to be all the rave has less than 100 reviews? Are you debating whether you should come here and give it a chance? Well don't. We walked in on a Saturday morning and it was empty. We said let's just give it a shot even though we knew it was a risk. The hostess seemed irritated at our comments and said it's because restaurants go through "seasons", they just opened, and people are busy with graduations. A Laurel brunch spot empty on a Saturday morning? LOL OKAY... Go off sis. Defend your man! They just need to do better here. The hostess literally handed me a menu that was so visibly dirty that it was unbelievable. 1 plate was so chipped I don't understand why she handed it to me. Another was dirty but... Whatever it happens right? I will say, server was nice. She offered to comp my food since it didn't come out with the others... Or even soon after. I think she forgot my order but it's okay, it happens! Can I encourage you not to order the strawberry crunch pancakes? Because there's no crunch. And the bananas that you think are going to be sliced and put on top are not in fact on top. They are cooked in the strawberry sauce drenched on the French toast. Can I repeat that there's no crunch? It's just a strawberry sauce and like picture someone took the graham cracker dust at the bottom of the bag and dumped in on the SIDE of your French toast.... Did I already mention there's no crunch? Okay. And it wasn't giving brioche. If I were them, I would invest in another brand. They ran out of breakfast (pork) sausage. The bacon was very soft and light, barely any pieces that were crispy. All the food came out room temp. Like the grits were pretty good except they were room temp. The smashed burger is NOT smashed. And it was so so dry, my family kept joking it was made from underground beef (not ground beef... Get it? ...meh). The chicken sandwich was actually pretty okay. I would try it again. And I think they got the fries down! They were so good. The only thing that we enjoyed? My berry pancakes and the home fries. They came out hot (I think only because they were late) and were so soft. They had a good flavor. The berry sauce on top was surprisingly good! Summary: we should've believed that the restaurant was empty for a reason. We were thoroughly disappointed. We wouldn't go back... (Don't tell my family but I would go back for the fries and pancakes.) Miss Toya, where are you hiding? Please come visit your restaurants.

I saw this place on Tic Toc for their Sunday Brunch. I was visiting my daughter's and leaving on Sunday so I knew I wouldn't be able to give them a try for brunch so I decided to go on Friday evening. I made a reservation to ensure I would get a table. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a pleasant young lady and was seated right away. There weren't too many people dining when we first arrived so the vibe was nice and chill. Our server (I believe he said his name was Tay) came to take our appetizer and drink order shortly after being seated. He was very attentive. I ordered the Fried Pork Chop Entree with Collars Greens and Five Cheese Mac N Cheese (comes with two sides) and a regular lemonade. Our order came out in about 20 mins. The Five Cheese Mac N Cheese was cooked to perfection! **There's an automatic 20% service charge added to the tab, but it's stated on the menu so there's no surprise.

    Southern Catfish Dinner

I've been to a couple Miss Toya's locations but this was my first time at the Laurel location. It was a quieter weekday evening, so our food came out pretty fast. I ordered the fried catfish dinner with Mac n cheese and collards, and also a cornbread to go. I absolutely loved the collards and cornbread, and the Mac n cheese was pretty good too. The catfish had a lot of breading with very little fish inside. It felt like I just kept eating the breading. The fish was also very soft, leading me to think that it was overcooked. Being that the catfish was deeply fried, it probably was. I love Miss Toya's for the food and drinks they offer, but I probably won't order the catfish again and will stick to the other food items.

I could tell from other conversations throughout the restaurant that the other servers were equally kind to their patrons. The decor is beautiful! I feel like I don't usually see restaurants with such a strong aesthetic in the Fulton area. I think the ambiance created by the decor definitely heightened my experience. Now, for the food. What we ordered: - Traditional Country Spinach Pie - Falafel - Spicy Lamb Beef Dip - Grilled Octopus - Grilled Salmon - Chicken Tenderloin - Athenian Shrimp The spinach pie and falafel were standard; good, but nothing to write home about. The spicy lamb dip was my party's favorite mezze. I feel that Cypriana does meats very well (especially the grilled ones). But the dishes were brought down by the sides. The grilled salmon, octopus, and chicken were all delicious! However, the red quinoa mixture tasted incredibly earthy. I did not enjoy it, but some healthier members of my party did haha. The chicken and fries was probably the best pairing (and child-approved!). Regarding the "Athenian Shrimp": Upon some research, I believe this is the restaurant's interpretation of Garides Saganaki. The restaurant served the sauce on a bed of pilaf. From my understanding, shrimp saganaki is more commonly (not exclusively) eaten as a dip with bread. Of course, there's no "wrong" way to serve anything, but the rice paired with the Athenian Shrimp was incredibly moist to the point of distraction. The sauce was very good, but I found myself eventually eating around the rice because the wet texture was so off-putting. I think the sauce would have been better paired with a pasta, pita, or baguette.

Cons: The service was not great. They have lots of staff--someone to light the candles, someone to bring the water, someone to take our order, someone to bring out the appetizer, someone to bring out drinks, someone to bring out entrees, etc. But there was very little follow up along the way. Our waters never got filled again. Our server took our drink order right away, but took a long time to come back to take our food order. Despite that, we still got our drinks well after the appetizer came out. The next time we saw the server was when we were done eating. The food should have been better for the price as well. We shared the grilled halloumi cheese appetizer. The cheese was cold by the time it got to us, and the plate came with two small olives--just two. At that point, don't bother. I had the bronzini, which had a good flavor, but was mostly skin. There was very little fish attached to two filets. My wife had the scallops. The entree came with five or six (can't remember exactly) medium-sized scallops. My wife described them as "forgettable," with very little thought to presentation (some of the scallops were laying on their side on the plate. The asparagus was overcooked. Unfortunately we both left still kind of hungry, and definitely put off.

The calamari was perfectly breaded and crispy. The hummus had a great blend of garlic, parsley, a bit of cayenne and red chili flakes with lemon and paprika. All these ingredients make a plain hummus extra tasty. Our two main entrees consisted of the broiled Atlantic salmon with asparagus and Greek potatoes and the Yero plate containing rotisserie beef and lamb slices serviced over pita, with tzatziki, and salad. The salmon was impressively at the perfect temperature. I thoroughly enjoyed my entire meal. The Yero plate had the best slices of beef and lamb. They were soft and absolutely well prepared. Our dinner was accompanied with two musicians who played lovely traditional Greek songs. The music was not too loud and we were able to have a nice conversation at our table. Service was a tad slow towards the end of our meal. We were seated in the basement and there was a time when not a single server was on the floor. Water service was lacking and odd -- we waited quite some time for a refill and when someone did come, only one of us got the refill when we both needed water! Still, I loved the food and atmosphere. Parking: Plenty in the back of the restaurant.
