I really have been under a rock! I had been mistakenly avoiding Miss Toya's chain but I need to make up for loss time and so should you if you haven't been. My schedule was rearranged last minute on a Saturday so I decided to catch their brunch. The laurel location was the closest to me. I was able to reserve a spot at the bar on open table about an hour before arrival . It must have been a lucky day for me because there were plenty vacancies and I didn't need to make a reservation. There was live jazz playing. I sat at the bar - shout out to Nnamdi who was the bartender and my waiter. Food wise: brunch only offers the $55 unlimited food option for two hours. I was completely fine with this as I was able to taste multiple dishes. I had the fried deviled eggs, Rockefeller oysters, bang bang shrimp, deep fried snow crab legs, pork chop and grits, wings in hot honey lemon pepper (their signature sauce) and the white chocolate bread pudding I enjoyed everything except the deep fried crab legs. The cluster was hallow. I had more fried batter than crab meat. Deviled eggs were my favorite of all the things I tried. And the bread pudding was sinfully delicious . I wasn't able to finish my last two items ordered but luckily I was able to fit it in the to-go box. Most places that serve unlimited food don't allow to-go boxes so I was happy to not have my leftovers go to waste. I opted for the bottomless cocktails as well. I stuck to the mimosas and tried the different flavors. The pours were generous. Nnamdi was very attentive and I appreciate him answering all of my clarifying questions as it was my first time. Takeout experience was not good. I arrived to see the hostess mopping up a mess on the pickup counter that apparently came from my order. She said"the kitchen" messed up packing my order but instead of sending it back, she "fixed it". Honestly it seemed like she was trying to get me my food on time, but management should have been called to solve this problem and ensure I didnt leave the restaurant with collard greens missing all their juices. I didnt know what exactly happened with tje packaging, so since I was told the problem was "fixed", I took my food and left. The worst part was the deviled egg appetizer. Another casualty of the kitchen, apparently. It looked unappetizing when I got home and opened it, and the crab topping that I paid an extra $3 for gave off a very strong smell (reminiscent of the kitchen of a seafood restaurent) and also appeared wet. I'd guess they took crab straight from a can, put it on top of the eggs, and covered it with old bay seasoning. Very disappointing. I went for brunch in Sunday in April 2026. The food was terrible. The service was worse. It was bottomless plates and we left hungry. Things were flavorless. The friend chicken had too much breading. Also.. the server kept standing around in the bar area watching the tables but not CHECKING on the tables. I'm not overly hyped about Cajun/Creole inspired dishes to begin with, and many of the plates lean heavy on cream based sauces that feel a bit overpowering after a few bites. I ordered the blackened chicken pasta, which wasn't bad at all, but again very rich and cream forward. My partner enjoyed the gumbo and said it was pretty good, just on the heavier side (which is expected with Southern dishes ). That said, the service was awesome and the restaurant was very clean, which I always appreciate. I enjoyed my time, but as someone from the South, I'm not easily influenced by Southern restaurants. The southern dishes are where they really shine -Our waiter was very gracious and had to balance 4-5 tables so I give grace since it was out of his control. He was really sweet -Parking is pretty easy, free and straightforward since it's in a shopping plaza. Plenty of spaces nearby -The idea of bottomless brunch is enticing. Great idea! -live music was great but can make it hard to hear/have conversations -Management did a great job of rectifying my friend's food issue Cons: -One of my friends had a worm in their oyster and the crab legs weren't seasoned at all (wouldn't recommend the crab legs at all) -Wait times are LONG. Prepare to wait 30 mins to an hour on Sunday for your food. Reservations are also hard to snag. -20% automatic gratuity no matter the party size -Have very small to go containers so it's basically all you can eat in that 2 hours and you can only take the last plate home -Overall I don't think I would go back to that location. They also have a closer location to me in Baltimore I would maybe try. (I did end up getting sick later but I'm not sure if it was their fault). The food was absolutely delicious. For $55 it's a bit steep but it is bottomless. I got the peach cobbler French toast which was a bit dry but good, scrambled eggs, catfish & grits, and the fried deviled eggs. I can't say enough about this place. The food is delicious. This is the second time I've visited and the great service has been consistent. I love, love , love the hot honey salmon bites. Our waitress, was pleasant enough. Although she did not smile a lot, she did what we asked her to do... nothing more/nothing less! After talking to her, we later found out that she was a little bit overwhelmed. That is understandable. We all have bad days. Now, the food was pretty good. We sampled a number of the Starters as well as a few of the Entrées. The number one selection that we all agreed on was the fried deviled eggs. They were amazing. Next on our "favorites" list was the wings. We went with the honey, lemon pepper flavor. They were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. The starter shrimp dish was also absolutely amazing. As for our main course, we sampled the catfish and grits, the pork chops and grits, the steak and eggs, the crab legs, and the waffles with honey chicken. Everything that we tried was pretty good. The only item that was not a favorite was the shrimp and grits. This location of Miss Toya's has an open concept. I would not recommend this location if you want to engage in conversation where you really need to focus and be able to hear. This location is pretty noisy. However, it is great for a girls or guys brunch, or an adult family get together after church. By the time we left, just about all of the tables were full. I would strongly advise making reservations. By the way, they offer bottomless drinks with brunch for an additional $25. I would venture to say, the drinks are made well. I hate doing this BUT this is our platform to make businesses do better. I've dined at the Silver Spring location a few times and the DC location once and both were strong 4 star performers. After seeing the reels for their unlimited brunch, a brotha had to drive from damn near Waldorf to Laurel to check this location out. Only reservation seating for the tables, I was lucky that ONE seat was open at the small ten person bar. I ordered the $55 unlimited brunch and the bottomless Mimosas for an additional $25. Jordan was great. She explained the unlimited food experience, which was unique to say the least. I wondered, does the owner want folks to come back or just want a one and done?!? From the menu, you can only order one item at a time and can't place another order until you've finished the majority of your food. So, if you ordered deviled eggs (3), you'd have to finish those to order wings... Whewwww! So I went through that iteration 6 to seven times. Oysters Rockefeller, crab legs (waste of time.. One small cluster that was mushy), charbroiled oysters, fried deviled eggs and topped it off with my entrée.. Steak and eggs. Honestly, I could have done the oysters and the fried crab topped deviled eggs and called it a day. I ordered my steak medium and it came out well done with NO flavor. I already told you about those sorry azz crab legs. The couple beside me didn't heed my warning before they ordered the crab legs.. they only ate half of theirs.. Told ya! Food was good although some of our people complained of there fish and oxtails being a little salty. I had the pork chops, Mac and yams. I was visiting my daughter's and leaving on Sunday so I knew I wouldn't be able to give them a try for brunch so I decided to go on Friday evening. I made a reservation to ensure I would get a table. I've been to a couple Miss Toya's locations but this was my first time at the Laurel location. It was a quieter weekday evening, so our food came out pretty fast. I ordered the fried catfish dinner with Mac n cheese and collards, and also a cornbread to go. I absolutely loved the collards and cornbread, and the Mac n cheese was pretty good too. The catfish had a lot of breading with very little fish inside. It felt like I just kept eating the breading. The fish was also very soft, leading me to think that it was overcooked. Being that the catfish was deeply fried, it probably was. Came to this location about 2 weeks after they opened and they were understaffed :( It was an early Sunday afternoon and the hostess had no menus to provide. We had to wait to see a physical menu because the online menu at the time didn't have all the items. It was an appetizer & sides kind of day, nothing too heavy and no alcohol. Our server was also the bartender. I gave him many kudos for handling it all because he had about 6-8 tables including mine so we gave him some grace by being patient. My friend and I shared the fried deviled eggs, salmon bites, seafood egg roll, side of cabbage and greens. And the restaurant was moderately clean inside , but you wouldn't know it from the dirt and smudges on the entry door. storefront first appearances matter. Other guest were loud and obnoxiously uncivil (not directly the restaurants fault but a place that was well managed would've had a manager intervene for the comfort of other guests) some of the food at promise most of it was either over season or in one instance likely cause food poisoning to one of my fellow diners. When we first walked in we could have been greeted better but after we sat down the young man who served us was also the bartender and he did a tremendous job of service. He made us perfect drinks and explained to us all the questions we had about the menu. The food came out in a timely manner and it was extremely good. We purchased about 300 dollars worth of food. I have no clue why they wouldn't tell us while we were standing in front of them that they were booked. None to less it was very disappointing. One of my favorite places to eat in laurel when I want some comfort food! Fried green tomatoes are amazing especially with the crab on top. The seafood Mac and cheese is the perfect amount of cheesiness and a seasonings. Sweet potatoes amazing! Collard greens taste like true southern collards with the apple cider vinegar. And we had to flag her down for that. My boyfriend has an allergy. When I inquired about certain dishes, her response was 'I think.... I had to make her go ask the kitchen cause clearly you don't care know how this works. Every time I looked up she's having LONG side conversations. We've been ready to leave before the 2 hours. Our server returns FINALLY and states you all have 15m left!! This is when I let her know how disappointed we are. I came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. The atmosphere is cute and the drinks were pretty but that's about it. I didn't receive my full order and I was actually happy because I was so displeased with my first plate. Shrimp is not fresh and tasted like it was fried with other seafood. Drink was pretty but heavy on the syrup. I asked my waitress for water that never came. I can't recommend this place with good conscience. read more

First I want to highlight the customer service and management as there was a mishap with my meal and they were excellent at rectifying the issue. That type of service deserves extra ratings in itself. We had a few items that were all prepared well, tender with fair portions. The salmon bites were tiny, overly salty with a tasty sweet sauce. They were was a good bit of fatty skin on it which added tenderness but was a bit much for some. Not a favorite. Fish and cheese grits were good. Tender and flavorful. One order came out with a sauce poured on it, the other came without so I'm not sure how it should be. I'd keep the sauce on the side to keep the fish crispy. The gumbo had a nice portion of meat which was tender. There was a good bit of a mild creole sauce but no spice for those who really desire a kick. Side dishes: The sweet potato were a hit with flavor throughout, moist but no gooey coating. The greens were tasty with a little kick. The cabbage was moist, tender with mild seasoning. A little onion might enhance it. The mac and cheese was better than most venues and good enough to get the job done. The cornbread was a hit with the honey base. Overall it was a good experience and it is a new establishment. I was informed they're trying to enhance their happy hour, so maybe I'll check that out. read more

I ate here last night at the Gambrills location which used to be Genghis Grill that I loved. The reread well lit, great music not too loud just right, and the customer service was great! The menu options were good and the prices were a bit pricey more tolerable on a pay week, lol. Now let's get into the food; for appetizers, we tried the fried Deviled eggs and Hot honey salmon bites, Presentation was good but the taste had you searching for more. Not great or good just aight! The eggs were dried out and it mentioned crab meat which was no where to be found. A hard pass if ever visit again. The salmon bites could use seasoning in the batter but all you taste is corn meal. Now the hot honey sauce, tasted authentic and was fire!! Now to the entree; we ordered the Caribbean lamb chops with mac and cheese and yams. My daughter loved the lamb chops as they were well seasoned with a jerk flavor to them. The Mac and cheese was ok but not seasoned enough but she rated as 6.5. The yams started off good but became overwhelmingly sweet, then not to desirable as the after taste of honey was too much. So, that was if could return she would. I had red snapper with the seafood fried rice and collard greens. The star of the dish was the snapper. The seafood fried rice which had a jambalaya vibe lacked in taste and dry. It definitely tasted like it was cooked a while ago and not hot at all. The greens were decent and tasted like it was cooked in a turkey neck water and add a chicken broth cube but they were tender. Now the snapper wasn't fire but good. It was seasoned but add the liquid sauce which is advertised as the creole sauce made it good. Don't need much but had I ordered the cheesy grits as I really wanted instead of the rice, I think the bowl they gave would have been poured over the entire dish. Delicious soul food for a great price. The menu makes it hard to choose, there's so many enticing options. I highly recommend trying appetizers and entrees. Reservations on nights and weekends are important they can get busy. This location is next to a movie theater and can attract more people than you'd expect. I have tried a few other locations, Silver Spring is one of my favorites as well. read more

We arriving about 830 and were surprised at the chairs being put up since it stated online they close at 10pm. We were only able to order to-go and since my homegirl had been here multiple times during their soft opening, suggested we order the greens and fried green tomatoes. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and since they wouldn't seat us inside we ate outside in the seated town center area. I hoped since I ordered them from another establishment and they were delicious, ordering them from a soul food place would be even better. However, to my dismay, they were not. Instead they were very chewy and salty. I'm not too sure if they were cooked twice because they were overcooked and hard to bite into and pull away. Look at the picture. I was disappointed because I needed some food in me after having drinks at another establishment and waiting to try here after hearing so many great things from friends recently. Although my homegirl did say this is not the experience she had when she tried them before, I'm willing to go back to try them again. I took them back and was refunded. I guess I'll try them another time before they close and hope that service is better although the young lady who was the manager and refunded me said although they were about to close, that had no bearing upon the quality of food being served. There's still a lot left to discover so I haven't voted them off just yet. The greens were good though. They weren't hot but they were good. Actually none of the food was hot. I wonder if they turned off the warmers or something to prepare to close. That's probably also why the fried green tomatoes were chewy because they weren't cooked fresh. It's not difficult to batter and fry some fried green tomatoes but I guess when it's closing time you get what you get and that's disappointing. Hmmm read more
