Hello everyone just wanted to take a moment to review the Negril location in Laurel. Nothing like being greeted with a warm welcome. Kept it simple with the fish sandwich, Pattie and coco bread which is consistently delicious. The fish sandwich was fried properly; however, it could use a side of jerk sauce for dipping. I do appreciate the sorrel is "handmade" and has the right amount of ginger for spice. This location is catered more toward efficient carry-out than the dine in experience which isn't a bad thing considering they likely fulfill more to go orders. Bar stood seating is available on the perimeter of the restaurant to eat. It would be better if the garbage can/waste bin was moved opposite of the eating area. The unisex restroom was clean but ran out of hand soap. Nonetheless this was not a bad experience and I look forward to dining in again in the future. Negril is my go-to Jamaican/Island food spot whenever I'm visiting my family. It's in the Laurel Shopping Center which is nearby. Although there's a LA Fitness gym and Marshalls a few doors away, you'll be able to find parking. The parking fairy is on your side. ;-D When I'm on the go, my favorite grab-n-gos are the slice of moist rum/carrot cake, homemade sorrel drink with the right amount of sweetness, and/or hot cripsy beef patty w/ soft warm coco bread in a sandwich (learned this method from my NY cousins). Always make me feel IRIE! One of these days, I'll have time to dine in for the main dishes. Based on my overall experience, the service is usually quick and the staff very welcoming. Hey friends! Some chain restaurants tend to be hit or miss, but Negril is always consistent! And as a picky eater, I appreciate consistency lol. I order a shrimp patty, coco bread, and a curry shrimp entree. The shrimp patty was crispy and flavorful. Coco bread was warm and buttery. O-M-G, the star of show was the curry shrimp. I could taste the freshness of the shrimp and the curry sauce was perfect. Rice was perfectly cooked. Only critique is that the cabbage was a little too soft. Service was friendly, I was greeted when I walked in. It took about 20 mins for the curry shrimp entree, so I recommend calling ahead or ordering online. They have a convenient online/phone order pickup station with your first name displayed. Inside is small with a few tables to dine in at. I recommend Negril if you're in Laurel! read more

I always enjoy the food at Negril. In my opinion it's one of the better Caribbean food chains. Food is always good. I usually go with the curry chicken, but switched it up this time. The location in laurel has never disappointed from a service standpoint. Always efficient and friendly. I kept hearing about Negril and did not make it to visit. Today was the day! I had a taste fish and remembered the rave reviews about the escovitch fish from Negril. I just so happen to be at the Home Goods across the shopping center so it was perfect timing. Due to COVID precautions, Negril isn't accepting any dining in. I used the website to place my order online and arrived onsite at the requested time in my confirmation. My food was ready to when I picked it up. The fish is AMAZING. The carrots and onions have a nice heat to it. If you are not used to spicy food, you may want to ask to remove the carrots and onions. The cabbage was delicious as well. I also ordered a side of coco bread (I mean who doesn't like coco bread?!) and it was baked perfectly. I definitely will return to Negril again. I looked forward to trying other dishes. read more

It has been years since we returned to Negril, and now I remember why. Curry chicken is basic with little flavor. Cabbage is ok no sauce. Jerk wings ok sauce is sweet and spicy yet the flavor isn't anything special. The rating of a 2 is for the beef patties they are good. Without that added to our order the rating would have been zero. I've been in the area for over 10 years, and I hadn't given this place a chance. And I have no idea why. I went in during a weekday in the early afternoon. And got the curry chicken lunch special. You don't get like a combo or anything, just cheaper food. Now I'm not sure what the difference is between the portion sizes, but I can at least say for the lunch, it was HUGE. I was able to get lunch and dinner out of it. The chicken was tender and flavorful. I saw reviews that said they're inconsistent, so I guess I got them on a good day.
