Hello everyone just wanted to take a moment to review the Negril location in Laurel. Nothing like being greeted with a warm welcome. Kept it simple with the fish sandwich, Pattie and coco bread which is consistently delicious. The fish sandwich was fried properly; however, it could use a side of jerk sauce for dipping. I do appreciate the sorrel is "handmade" and has the right amount of ginger for spice. This location is catered more toward efficient carry-out than the dine in experience which isn't a bad thing considering they likely fulfill more to go orders. Bar stood seating is available on the perimeter of the restaurant to eat. It would be better if the garbage can/waste bin was moved opposite of the eating area. The unisex restroom was clean but ran out of hand soap. Nonetheless this was not a bad experience and I look forward to dining in again in the future. Overall 3.3 of 5 for the dine in experience.

Negril is my go-to Jamaican/Island food spot whenever I'm visiting my family. It's in the Laurel Shopping Center which is nearby. Although there's a LA Fitness gym and Marshalls a few doors away, you'll be able to find parking. The parking fairy is on your side. ;-D When I'm on the go, my favorite grab-n-gos are the slice of moist rum/carrot cake, homemade sorrel drink with the right amount of sweetness, and/or hot cripsy beef patty w/ soft warm coco bread in a sandwich (learned this method from my NY cousins). Always make me feel IRIE! One of these days, I'll have time to dine in for the main dishes. Based on my overall experience, the service is usually quick and the staff very welcoming. I highly recommend for you to try Negril if you're into or drawn to Caribbean comfort food. Enjoy!!

I always enjoy the food at Negril. In my opinion it's one of the better Caribbean food chains. Food is always good. I usually go with the curry chicken, but switched it up this time. The location in laurel has never disappointed from a service standpoint. Always efficient and friendly. On this visit, the only issue was that I ordered the jerk chicken wing meal, but got the jerk chicken meal. Not a huge deal, but was looking forward to trying the wings.

When I showed up about 3 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready, they had actually just received it on their end. There was some bug going on with the system. I was supposed to be able to pick my protein and whether I wanted a spicy sauce. I was able to make modifications on the spot and thankfully it didn't take long to get what I wanted.... When I tell you that oxtail was falling off the bone? 10/10. The brown stew chicken was flavorful, tender, and cooked just right. The cabbage was seasoned perfectly, not soggy, not bland. Everything on that plate hit. No complaints about the food whatsoever. The space itself is small, clean, and minimally decorated. Nothing fancy, but very well-kept, and I appreciate that. Service was good. The owner personally took care of me and accommodated my request to swap out the rice for extra cabbage with no issue. I always appreciate when owners are hands-on and attentive. Now for the hiccup: the credit card machine wasn't working, so I had to pay via Cash App. Not ideal, but okay. What almost took me out was the attempt to add a service charge. I definitely spoke up because that extra $1? Yeah... it was about the principle. Sheesh. Overall, the positives outweighed the minor inconvenience. The food alone would have me coming back. And for me, that says a lot.

Service: waitress was kind, but service was extremely slow. 2 beers took about 15 minutes to make it to our table; I ordered a mixed drink and was given the incorrect mixed drink, which I went to the bar and traded out for a beer instead because our server didn't come back to our table to check on us for a significant length of time. We ordered several menu items they were out of and we weren't told that they were out until about an hour and a half into waiting for our food. We ended up with three side salads, 1 app, and 1 meal for a group of people. We asked our server for the check, which she failed to bring after 15 minutes. Hungry and desperate to leave, a member of our group went up to the bar, had the bar tender remove the food we were never given, and paid. Usually with brunch we would do the bottomless mimosas and all but because I was driving I decided not to participate in that. And usually I would get chicken and waffles but I was in the mood for a burger. So I thought because their name is "Mad Cow" the burger would be the bomb...but nope it was not good at all. So I prefer a beef burger cooked medium with blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions. When I burger got tot the table it was dry as a board. No blue cheese that I paid extra for and the burger was not cooked correctly it was cooked well done. Smdh. So the waiter brought me my blue cheese apologized about it and also gave me a mayo bottle. Even with the burger still was not good and the patty was so thick with no flavor not even salt and pepper was in it!! I tried their punch drink which was really good but for $15 a pop in a regular water glass was ridiculous. Make sure you don't get too tipsy as they already have like a 20% gratuity added on each of our checks no matter how small or big your group is which again is ridiculous! Will I come back...maybe only because I would like to try some Jamaican food they offer. But for brunch...it's a no for me!

Start with the Aloo and Channa pies and crab accras, order a cocktail early, and do not be surprised if your server is already one step ahead of you. We let Tim lead, which was the right decision. Not just knowledgeable, intuitive. The kind of service where you feel guided, not managed. He brought extra garlic aioli before we asked, we laughed, because he was absolutely right. That set the tone. The Aloo and Channa pies came out crisp and golden, with a filling that was warm, spiced, and balanced. Not heavy, not trying to prove anything, just well executed. The crab accras followed, light, clean fry, no grease, which matters. The sauces did their job. Each one added something instead of just sitting there looking pretty. Cocktails held their own. The West Indian Old Fashioned had depth without getting muddy. The Savannah was bright and easy in the best way. Together, they framed the food instead of competing with it. Then the Bake & Fish sandwiches. Solid on their own, but Tim brought lemon slices without prompting, and that was the move. That little hit of acid sharpened everything. Same intuition, twice. That's not luck. The kitchen shows restraint, which is where the confidence lives. This isn't "let's throw spice at it and call it Caribbean." The flavor is intentional, layered, and controlled. You can taste the difference. The only thing to know, the energy builds. What starts as dinner leans toward lounge as the night goes on. If you want quiet, time it right. If you want atmosphere, you're exactly where you should be. We will definitely be back.
