    Brown Stew Chicken Lunch Special
    Michael T.

NOT EVEN GONNA LIE you just can't go wrong with Tropicana.. I've been going here for about 5 years now and honestly the quality has stayed the same (great) and i even still see some of the same people too! This is the lunch special for $8 !!! For that price you can't beat it , the flavors are all there and the brown stew is just perfect with the rice and peas

The food here is very good. I pick up food for my mom whom is very very particular about her food.. I've been here several times for the lunch special, which is really reasonably priced. My food order is always correct, as well as the food is always hot and fresh. Ordering by phone is a breeze.

Veggie Stir Fry with curry sauce
    Jessica A.

Tropicana never misses! I have been a patron here for years and their food has yet to disappoint. I usually get the veggie stir fry which contains rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. You can get any sauce added with the meal for no additional cost. I usually get curry or jerk sauce. Besides their food, what I love the most about this restaurant is their affordable prices. If you have the chance to come here during lunch hours, you can get a curry chicken meal, a jerk chicken meal, or a brown stew chicken meal for only $6! That's almost impossible to get at other Caribbean spots. And on top of that, it's very filling too!

    Lady that has attitude

Make sure you ask them is the food fresh first because they gave me old oxtails that wouldn't even come off the bone they were so tuff. Food is good when they make it right and they be having attitudes an this lady is the main one who has an attitude she should just work in the back but the food is good when it's made right.

    Meat-Only Jerk Chicken

Listen up ppl this is a native on the scene - Hands down Tropicana is as authentic as it can get! Food wicked good. Today I got Jerk chicken and curried chicken and it was seasoned finger licking to the bone (yardies know importance of the bones). Glad I got two orders of the jerk so one in pic for later - if it last. There's just a real good chef there as everything's flavourful and tasty.

The food was good - but they have the WORST customer service.... I'll go back only because the food is delicious - however we as consumers shouldn't have to deal with nasty attitudes!!!

They didn't even clean the oxtail. I bought food here, went home with it and trashed it. Waste of money.

The Society Restaurant and Lounge was listed as a brunch buffet but they no longer have a buffet, which was great for me. When you walk in the ambiance was a nice relaxing vibe. We had an awesome waiter (Christopher). The food was excellent - top notch. We ordered the society shrimp, caribbean rolls, fried chicken, mac & cheese, rice & peas and lamb chops. I felt overwhelmed with all of this great food but I enjoyed every bit of it. We sampled the mimosas and it was just average so we ordered a carafe of rum punch. The rum punch was a hit. A perfect blend of juices and rum. After brunch we went upstairs to their rooftop brunch party with a live DJ. We danced and danced and had more drinks. It was an awesome brunch and brunch party. The only downside is the restroom is on the first floor. So you have to walk down to go back up but it's worth it. This is definitely a place you need to check out for yourself. Next time I am in Maryland I will be back.

Start with the Aloo and Channa pies and crab accras, order a cocktail early, and do not be surprised if your server is already one step ahead of you. We let Tim lead, which was the right decision. Not just knowledgeable, intuitive. The kind of service where you feel guided, not managed. He brought extra garlic aioli before we asked, we laughed, because he was absolutely right. That set the tone. The Aloo and Channa pies came out crisp and golden, with a filling that was warm, spiced, and balanced. Not heavy, not trying to prove anything, just well executed. The crab accras followed, light, clean fry, no grease, which matters. The sauces did their job. Each one added something instead of just sitting there looking pretty. Cocktails held their own. The West Indian Old Fashioned had depth without getting muddy. The Savannah was bright and easy in the best way. Together, they framed the food instead of competing with it. Then the Bake & Fish sandwiches. Solid on their own, but Tim brought lemon slices without prompting, and that was the move. That little hit of acid sharpened everything. Same intuition, twice. That's not luck. The kitchen shows restraint, which is where the confidence lives. This isn't "let's throw spice at it and call it Caribbean." The flavor is intentional, layered, and controlled. You can taste the difference. The only thing to know, the energy builds. What starts as dinner leans toward lounge as the night goes on. If you want quiet, time it right. If you want atmosphere, you're exactly where you should be. We will definitely be back.

Just a note that the food does take a while to come out so if you're ordering with a large group make sure to pass the menu around beforehand so you can order when you sit down. We started with the fried food platter Friday platter and everything was delicious. It came with plantains and okra and fries. The entrees are quite large and if you wanted you could split them as well. I got the stew chicken with rice and plantain and it was extremely flavorful and great comfort food.
