Let me add some of the dishes that others around me ordered looked out of this world as well; Deep-Fried Snapper with African Gravy, Jerk-Braised Short Ribs with Curry Pea Risotto, and Teriyaki Tomahawk with Miso Butter just to name a few, looked amazing. When I looked at what they ordered and I looked at my order I was wondering the same thing for both of us; we are going to need a doggie bag because there is no way we could eat all this food in one sitting. It's bittersweet to see Chef Tobias leave. However, I think I speak for those in the DMV in saying thank you for serving such high-quality food and for being a true beacon in the community. Your restaurant has brought people together, created lasting memories, and made a meaningful impact that will not be forgotten. Though you are relocating to Florida I'm wishing you continued success as you begin this next chapter in another state. They had nothing NA for her and she ended up just having a glass of ice water. I got in the mobbed line and had a Kellerbier, which was brewed especially for Franklin's and Oktoberfest. They had an issue with their handheld payment device so that made the line longer. Beer was fine, but wished I could have gotten my mom a lemonade or iced tea. The other issue was the seating. We opted to sit over in the sandbox/kids area and the picnic tables didnt feel like the best use of space. The trio band was lovely and played some nice tunes including Edelweiss which is one of my favorite songs ever (yes I loved The Sound of Music and have watched this so many times as a kid with my mom) but it would have been nice to see the band more in the center of things, closer to the bar hut. They were serving up German sausages and huge pretzels but the line for beverages and food was so long that I didnt bother to purchase food. I asked for bacon, and was told the owners don't eat pork. I asked for the chicken sausage.. 5 minutes later the server asked me if I wanted the sausage spicy or not. Then when she brought the bill, there was a $4 up charge for spicy sausage that she neither told me, nor was it on the menu. And to make matters worse - the sausages were not spicy and were actually just flat out nasty. This is a SAD excuse for a restaurant.
